[Q] Bluetooth problem with Microsoft Sync in new car - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I saw a few similiar threads, but my situation is a little bit different.
I am runing 2.2 on my HD2 and I have new Ford running Microsoft Sync. Everything syncs fine except for Phonebook. If I try to sync phonebook, bluetooth disconnects. A lot of people had similar problems, but the twist is that there is this one time, somehow it managed to transfer one contact before disconnecting, I didn't do anything different. So if it is able to transfer, something must forced it to disconnect.
Can anyone help?

Missing Sync 2.5.1 and TyTN

hallo. please other mac users, let me know your experience:
TyTN
ROM 1.18.258.2
ROM date 07/22/06
Ext ROM 1.18.258.105
Radio 1.03.03.10
Model Number HERM200
Missing Sync 2.5.1 and OSX 10.4.7 on Powerbook 17"
even if I completely uninstalled old Missing Sync apps in a very accurate way, deleting all Missing Sync files on the TyTN and re-installing 2.5.1 on the Mac, I still can't sync (it has synched just 1 time not completely). It starts, and after a few contacts Missing Sync crashes... any troubles for you?
Thank you,
no problem for me . Just a crash one time , need to reboot tytn and my macbook.
did you try to sync with the bluetooth ?
yes, it's impossible to sync via BT. is your device with same ROM as mine? I've also serial HT628xxx
I'm going crazy, the TyTN works great except for the sync... and for wififofum and wifitunes (even if wifitunes is excused: my itunes library is veeeeery large, 22000 songs)
could the device be defective, even if it works perfectly?
I'm really struggling to sync my device using activesync (I just can't seem to get connected).
I'm currently using Yahoo! Go! Mobile for calendar pim and address syncing (absolutely brilliant), and installing applications from CAB files on the memory card (luckily I had installed total commander while activesync seemed to be working.
Will probably try setting it up on another computer, but I prefer syncing to yahoo than using outlook, and most of the need is removed with this application.

I am using Missing Sync 2.5.1 on my Mac Mini running OS X 10.4.7.
My TYTN syncs Contacts, Calander, and Time successfully over bluetooth. I haven't tried syncing any other way.
My TYTN is serial HT627... using the latest iMate ROM.
serial HT630 ...
rom 1.18.256.2
radio 1.03.03.10
is it possible that the TyTN works perfectly, the Mac works perfectly, and the devices can't sync neither with USB nor BT? The only problem seems Missing Sync that crashes
the best for you it' s to try with another mac if you can .
nothing, nor with my G5... on the device, under "settings" -> i find an app called "USB to PC", where is possible to select a check box that in english could sounds like "active advanced net functions"... does it need to be checked?
why my tytn is absolutely invisible by bluetooth? i paired the devices without problems, but missing sync doesn't find the tytn...

Did you try pairing from the TYTN device only?
I have heard and seen issues when pairing the devices from within OS X.
My advice; unpair them and them pair them again using the TYTN to discover the MAC.
done that procedure with BT, also followed the terminal procedure suggested my markspace on their support pages. nothing, i can pair the mac but it don't sync. the only difference is that appears the transparent window that indicates a BT connection, but it fails cause missing sync don't connect to the device... i also tried "usb switch" to switch to serial mode. nothing... i sent tenth of emails to markspace with logs and
problem description but they don't contact me...
i changed devicce, it was serial 628... everything was amazingly perfect but... the connection. it seems it was an hardware problem. the new one 630 sync correctly except for the ical events, I've a "null" event and another "unknown event" that causes problems. i can't find them in ical, so do you have any idea on how to eliminate this issue? thanks,

Getting angry!

Hy there,
I am getting pissed.
I bought this angel called Tytn because I thought it is the best out there.
All I get is some litlle problems that drive me crazy and still my time.
First of all syncronisation. I don't know why, but really why the activ sinc does not copy all my contacts to the phone?
Some 100 are missing I have tried everything (560 in total). If I sync with emoze, works fine, but the problem is, when I put a new contact to the phone the emoze does not sinc it on the computer. Bad!!
The calendar the same problem, I allmost deleted my all calendar because of it.
When receiving a call and having a bluetooth headset on, locked keypad, I can not answer the phone (It is a brick so I do not carry it in the pocket but in the carrying bag). Othervise bluetooth works fine, but I have had better.
I bought it because I though it would give me the least problems with synchronizing, but I am dissappointed. My previous Nokia worked better.
I am very close to hard reset the device and try again, but don't think it would help so I belive it must of happened to some of you too, how did you solve the sync problem?
I am using activsync 4.1 cose 4.5 did not work fine.Looks like this one is bad too.
Any suggestions?

Automatic Activesync over Bluetooth

Hi guys, took delivery of my HTC Touch HD just before Xmas, what a nice piece of kit
One "issue" I have with it is the synchronisation of Outlook contacts/calenders etc via Activesync. How can I set up Activesync so that it automatically synchs, over Bluetooth, whenever the HD is within Bluetooth range of my laptop? On my old Nokia N95, that would automatically synchronise every 15 minutes whenever the phone was within range of my laptop. With the HD, I have to manually select on the HD to connect via Bluetooth, which works, but it's a manual process!
Any help gratefully received
Thanks
Gav
I had a solution a long time ago with mortscript.
But it was not very clean...
I'am also looking for a solution to sync my contacts every day by bluetooth...
me too, even nokia can get this right, its not exactly a nice feature, its a necessity
It's not (easily) possible to do what you are requesting because there's a fundamental difference between the ways ActiveSync and Nokia PC Suite work.
In Nokia's case, the connection is initiated by PC. In WM's case, it's vice versa. This means that if you set your phone up to scan the environment for a bluetooth host computer all the time, it will drain your battery very soon, so it's not practical.
A workaround I can think of would be a program on your WM device and on your PC. Your PC would search for your phone periodically, then if it's found it would send a specially crafted file/message which would trigger an ActiveSync connection on the device.
Alas, such a program doesn't exist, and I'm not even sure it's possible. The problem here is that you want it to work even when your phone is suspended, and no BT files will be accepted in this state. If you have to wake it up to sync, it becomes not much easier than launching sync via a shortcut.
The phone being suspended isn't necessarily a big barrier, it wakes up when I put it on charge anyway so that would be when I would want it to auto-sync.
Sorry to bump an old thread, but was wondering if anyone has made anything alike in the last 3 months?
It's little things like this that make me favour Nokia just a little bit more.
This is possibly the only thing that annoys me about my HD. Ny N95 was flawless in its auto-synch via bluetooth, but alas my HD is severely deficient in this matter. I can't even get mine to synch at all via bluetooth, never mind automatically!
Yes, it does seem to have many flaws. I have to try and connect via bluetooth about 10 times for it to actually succeed, most of the time it doesn't detect the PC at all and then when it does, it fails half way connecting?!
Little piece of software upgrade would be so much better..
How about a shortcut? How can i map a file to start the connect action for Bluetooth sync?
Hey, i'm interested in the same thing.
look @ thread -> 289197
can be useful? can anyone have updates? thanks
Michele
Up for this. I am also looking for this kind application. My Nokia X6 does this flawlessly but not on my Android phone. Currently, I am looking for an application that can sync my contacts and calendar from my XP laptop via bluetooth Android phone... It's not available yet on the android Market. Please help thanks...

Bluetooth connection to carkit -> phonebook does not sync

I can connect the HD2 to my new MINI with bluetooth carkit fine via headset profile.
However, the phonebook does not sync with the car.
Ir worked fine with the HD with the Microsoft bluetooth-stack.
Is there any solution for that?

No, that does not help.
With this app you can only send contacts and so on to another device.
But here, everytime you connect the device via bluetooth with the car, the car should read the contacts from the phone.
That worked without problems with the microsoft-stack.
I am having a similar issue, paired phone with Mercedes HFP and first time contacts came across. Next time back in the car and it reconnects, the contact memory is empty? Can still make and receive calls but no contacts. If I re-pair the phone by resetting HFP in car then contacts come across? Software issue on phone or car kit driver issue? Previously had HTC S710 and had no problems. Very annoying so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Same here - I even ca`nnot get the car be paired with HD2 - why ?
Hello,
here is my issue with the BT connection: I have a Pioneer F900BT unit in my car. With my previous Nokia E66 everything worked just fine.
Now, when connecting with HD2, connection works ok, phonebook is downloaded ok, BUT: when there is a call, the music in the car is not silenced automatically; what's worse, it seems the phone doesn't send any call identification to the headunit, since all the history (outgoing, incoming calls) is empty. So, I cannot redial or see who's calling me.
I did try the fix in the registry described on another thread (setting HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\sys\COD=5374476, but it doesn't help.
Any idea?
Thank you.
It works perfectly with my Mercedes Command with Bluetooth Adapter, it does not transfer all of my 800 contacts because it use to make a new entry for each tel. number (Home / Works, etc.) therefore it says "memory full" at about 75% but I can understand. At least I can call/recognize up to the "S" beginning contacts.
Anyhow, since I used to have this problem in the past, you could try Jetware, it worked for me with my Cruise.

To follow up, I have found that its the pin lock (mentioned in another thread) that is causing the problem. If you unlock your phone before you pair up then contacts are coming across every time. May not work for everyone if their problem is different but has for me so wanted to share. If anyone knows how to bypass security issue with paired device I would like to know but as a workaround its better than no contacts!
I have this problem with my BMW iDrive too. No problems getting the address data on the HD but not working for me on the HD2. Can pair and make calls though. Any solution?
phonebook does not sync
I have a BMW with the bluetooth feature. From what I have noticed there is a connection started to the phonebook and it starts sending (and receving some) information but after about 110k it stoppes and the phonebook is disconnected. I would be happy to assist in any further analysis if anybody has any ideas.
I have no problem making and receiving calls in through this setup, but, as stated, the connection to the phonebook is not possbile. This was previously possible throgh the HD

read my previous reply, its because your phone is locked whn it connects. If you unlock it before you pair up it should work.

OK. I tried to just unlock it, but this did not work. I will try to unpair, then unlock and then pair again, and see if this then works.

Well, unfortunately it did not work. I unpaired the phone from the carkit, then removed the pin on the phone, did a soft reset, paired the phone with the carkit and saw that it started communicating with the phone book, but the communication stopped after about 110kb, as it usually does, and the phonebook was then disconnected.
Any ideas anyone?

Same issue
I'm facing the same issue... New Mercedes, phone calls are no problem but phonebook is not accessible... I doubt that it's a lock issue... When I paired it it also didn't work but there it was certainly unlocked...

Using Ford Sync with MyTouch 4G Genius Button

A friend of mine has been nursing an old BlackBerry 8700G for many years now. Last week he decided to put it out to pasture and picked up a MyTouch 4G (due, in part, to my glowing review of the device).
He's not happy.
Some of his issues are the usual complaints which can be handled with a quick tutorial and a few tweaks here and there.
The real problem, though, is integration with Microsoft Sync in his 2009 Ford Escape.
The aged BlackBerry worked pretty much as expected with Sync but the MT4G does not. Making and receiving phone calls seems to work just fine but the SMS messaging features of Sync do not appear to be compatible with the MT4G.
This shouldn't matter, though, right? The "Genius Button" lets you send and receive SMS messages via voice control. Unfortunately, while he and I had both assumed that the Sync system would let him access all of the voice control features of the Genius Button (including full voice-control of SMS messages), we were mistaken. Sync doesn't seem to provide any mechanism for triggering a phone's built-in voice recognition system, thereby rendering the Genius Button features completely useless.
Now, I've never used Sync myself so I'm holding out hope that there is some kind of trick or software update that will get his setup working the way he wants it to work. Anybody know something about this that I don't or is he pretty much screwed?
Shouldn't have bought a Ford...
Sorry had to say it
I have SYNC in my 2010 Mustang, and to my knowledge it doesn't have the ability to forward a call button command to the phone like most Bluetooth headsets do. SYNC is more of a "command center" rather than a glorified BT headset in a car stereo, so it pulls in data and info from a variety of sources and you use the voice and button commands to access and control it. You would likely have to tell the car "Bluetooth Streaming" and have the phone playback information for you (unfortunately, the microphone won't forward anything so the handsfree profile will just tie that up).
If he's really, totally, and COMPLETELY hung up on that and still wants Android, I've read on the SYNC forums that the DROID, DROID 2, and DROID X all support SMS transmission through SYNC, including reading and replying. Of course, this might be mitigated by Gingerbread since it's supposed to be getting a new BT stack from what I've read. You know, or not.
Please post questions in the Q&A section.
Question, do they actually have Sync working correctly with their devices? I have a MT4G and am trying to sync with my 2010 Ford F-150. The phone book starts to download and then quits half way through and then the bluetooth causes the phone to freeze up and gets completely screwy. My Vibrant and HD7 do great....the MT4G not so much.

Mine works fine. My G2 would act strange with my Mustang until I figured out I had to disable WiFi before getting in the car. I'm not sure if it's just WiFi, or the WiFi calling app hanging or resetting the radio, but after doing that my SYNC system would download the phonebook and stay connected the whole time. My mT4G doesn't require this.
Edit: Just thought of this, but I'm using WiFi N at 5GHz at home now with the mT4G, whereas I was on 2.4GHz with my G2 and had the issues. Normally you get different radios for different frequencies, so I wonder if that's the case here.
