Try a different browser, opera mobile is pretty fast, not opera mini.

I either use my tablet with desktop agent, or my Nexus One, or my computer... mostly tablet, than phone, last is the pc.

Thank you all for helping with my experiment.
It seems that "Webalizer Pro", and "Awestats" ( 2 of the most popular web stats programs installed with "CPanel" on a web site) recognize our tablets as being Mac OSX, and if you're using the Dolphin HD browser it recognizes you as using Firefox as your browser.
Was just trying to see how Mac claims to have 97% of the tablet internet market, and now I know.
Once again, thank you to all that participated.

Ha Ha
I know where you're coming from. I had the same thought reading the comScore article.
Ever since surfing on my tablet I've struggled with user agents, checking out whatsmyuseragent.com using the stock browser, both dolphins, opera... and every now and then I was surprised to appear as a ios device!
(Used Dolphin HD set as desktop for the poll and the clickthrough)

Thanks bro.
Funny when I go to whatsmyuseragent.com here's what it's detected as using Dolphin HD
'Your User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10_6_3; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.16 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0 Safari/533.16"
Only change when using stock browser is "webkit 534.13"

Google Wave

Is anyone here using Google Wave on your Hero?
Is it just me or does it really takes a few minutes to load? Opening each wave takes quite some time... Is there something I can do about? (I'm using unrooted Hero and oppening site with default browser).
Thanks.
I can't open it at all. It says not suported browser :/
there's a link below that "not supported browser" that offers you to continue anyway at your own peril
however, it's slow, tortures Hero, but then again, my Macbook Pro froze from Wave since it only has 2GB RAM, on my Vaio i got a 2.2GB RAM in use, of which 980 was Safari with Wave (Win7, not Vista)....so, Wave is a RAM hungry monster that makes serious laptops uncomfortable, no way is it ready for mobile browsing :?
i think Google should have waited and released it when it became Beta, not Alfa v1.0

Yes. I know it sounds funny.
But Hero (or better yet, mobile devices) uses a 'mobile' version of site that should be at least semi-usable.
Did anyone test it on Opera Mobile or other browser?
It's fairly usable for me once everything's loaded (including the Wave you wanna edit).
On my netbook I have no trouble, and it has 1GB of RAM, so to the guy on a laptop something else is obviously wrong.
Google Wave is... a disappointment
Also, I really doubt it'll run on Hero unless theres a specific app for it.
i used for a little while Dolphin Browser..it's a great app..with tabs and favorite sites and many other features..you should try it...i was using the browser for reading newspapers and other stuff... but now i installed a RSS reader...

i think it depends on the size/amount of active waves....i had 2 imported ones that were huge, 200 people each, god knows how many blips....killing those did settle the problem, but it still says Alfa is not something you should release to "general public" :/
I bet there will be a google wave app for android

Productivity - Word processor etc.

Hello Xoom owners,
I have been closely following the progress of the Xoom and am excited with what I'm seeing. I plan on purchasing the Wifi version when it releases in April. The reason I am interested in the Xoom is the productivity aspect of it, i.e. typing and web browsing. I'm not too worried about video playback or apps right now. My question to you is, how proficient is the Xoom in these categories? I need this tablet to be as much of a standalone device as it can be (unlike another tablet that needs to be plugged into itunes). I am happy to see usb mounting because this will help file transferring even more. I used pages on the ipad and was moderately impressed. Any opinions? How does the Xoom match up to the ipad in writing and the web?
Thanks in advance!

Documents to Go is available on android and iOS platform. What makes you claim that Xoom has zero productivity apps?
I have Documents to Go and although it's not optimized for Honeycomb, I haven't had any problems with it. I'm looking forward to a tablet version but for now I don't have any complaints.

I also use documents to go on the XOOM. No problems at all making word and excel docs. It also does power point, but i don't.

If it is just for the "I need a word processor NOW" effect then go with the iPad. From what I've heard the Pages, Numbers, and Keynote apps are pretty sweet. If you want a great overall experience of a real OS, however, you should stick with the Xoom. I love how I can play around with it. And since I have no urgent need to write a lot or crunch numbers on the Xoom (that's what I have my laptop for for now) I will wait until something really effective comes out. For now I'm stuck with the Documents To Go which is very basic but at least I can open and view documents decently. Yes, it's the paid version.

HAHA! I would say what you get from D2G in regards to PowerPoint is more comparable to a very pathetic "PDF" version of a .ppt(x) file. No animations, picture effects are messed up, etc. BUT, if you have plain and simple presentations you can view them OK.

No netflix thru the browser because Netflix uses silverlight which has no android port.
I have no problem waiting for the word processing to get better on the xoom. I'm not planning on writing papers on this thing, maybe just rough drafts but it needs to have something. Probably going with the xoom, just having second thoughts after seeing the ipad 2.

I wonder if I can get this here in India for the same price, $99. Been waiting to buy this for a while.
anyone know if it's possible to load the pdf app with annotation capabilities from the Jetstream onto the Thinkpad? Seems superior to ezPDF or RepliGo.
Notes app ported
It would be great if we could get the notes app from the Jetstream/Flyer ported to Thinkpad. The evernote integration looks great.
Anyone know if this is possible?
I would post a link to the evernote blog post about it, but I do not have enough posts yet. If interested, go to evernote's blog:
blog [dot] evernote [dot] com and look for the post "HTC Tablets and Evernote" from 09-02-2011.
I would love to have that notes program on a 10" tablet, but $700 plus contract is way more than I can spend.
too expensive to make it worthwhile IMO
and it's only a Single processor
i'll much better go for any of they existing dual core android tablets
According to the Lenovo website, the thinkpad (the tablet with the pressure sensitive pen) has a tegra 2 dual core 1 GHz. And with a wifi only version for $500 is more in line with my budget. Just would love to have the note app from the htc jetstream.
And the att website lists the jetstream with a 1.5 GHz dual core snapdragon. So, I am not sure what tablet you are referring to as being only a single processor.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
Realize now you were thinking of the ideapad instead of the thinkpad. It is only a single core (and also not worth it in my opinion). However, the dual core thinkpad, I think would be quite handy with the pressure sensitive pen.
I am an architect and frequently have to make sketches and annotate drawings during meetings, on the construction site, etc... Having them automatically sync to my evernote account (like the htc app) would be great.

I have installed the Evernote program and their Skitch add-on (they bought the company and made it freeware for Android: http://thenextweb.com/apps/2011/08/...android-app-ready-ios-and-windows-on-the-way/) and it works but it crashes frequently. Seems to be a problem when using the pen while the hand rests on the display at the same time. The built in lenovo application works fine though - and it recognizes the pressure of the pen too which Skitch doesn't.
Does the Lenovo come with an app that let's you draw on pdfs with the pen?

This kind of hackability is gonna make x86 Windows on a tablet *the* best choice for power users in the coming years...
Bluestack is nothing new, nothing fancy and nothing impressible. It is way slow (even for a i7) and it uses a lot of resources. They promised that they will fix those bugs but apparently the only work that they do was to make it a "windows 8 exclusive". meh.

Android does this as well more or less you just won't find anyone using android as the OS on their PC. So here's where MS has a leg up. I'd more say it's a smart way of doing business... What company wouldn't want to make just ONE app that'll work across different types of devices

Yeah I love BlueStacks, it's really well made. Can't wait for the beta to come out
Just saw that beta got released. Anyone know what information they access to provide this? Google search listed terms and privacy links for their official website but clicking them just brought me to their homepage to download the application. Just wanted to do some reading before I try it out
Edit: site is overloaded which is why some parts such as privacy and terms pages are not accessible. Got the information that they'll be replaced with light versions for now. Also if anyone's interested as to how they work out what apps are on your device, they just pull the installed application list from your device. They don't look at or connect through the Google account to get the list from the Google play store. Not trying to be awkward, I was just enquiring what privacy or information I have to give up in order to use this beta service (which is free to use, so I was just looking for a catch) and how they access information. Seems okay to me now .

I'm definitely going to have to install Windows 8 on the MBP through VMware and then try this application out. Talk about super cool!
I dont think that bluestacks will support ALL android Apps, for example, is hard to give support to 3d games or AR apps...
bluestacks is slow and clunky.
tested on series7 samsung slate.
I'd totally get a Windows tablet if it could run all the Android apps as well as W8, with that and a keyboard dock I could replace my current Android tab & laptop.
now this is cool

That's fantastic. A remote desktop client requiring 5 cores.
Here I thought my 1-core 1GB "AD-based VPN+remote desktop client" VMware image was earthshatteringly inefficient, but I guess someone was able to one-up me on that.
I remember back in the days when we used to create thin clients out of obsolete 386 and 486's by making them boot linux and run rdesktop on boot. You could do that with 16MB of ram and a 16Mhz CPU.
Are Splashtop telling us that 2x1GHz CPU and 1GB of RAM is not enough to run remote desktop? Seriously?
This is hilarious.

You can still use the regular version of Splashtop for remote desktop.
It's just that THD is designed to be able to do things that require higher processing power.
I am actually happy to see this because it means I will have better experience when/if I get a tegra 3 tablet.
However, I am still skeptical of the praticality of it because it will require even greater Internet bandwidth and stability on the receiving device for more advanced content streaming. Starbucks wifi won't be adequate, no way. You will need at least 3G quality connection.

I bought the tf101 in september, but it already feels old... Why?

Developers are free to do what they want. If they want to make a program that requires stronger processing unit than tegra 2, so be it. You are in no position to complain. No one is forcing you to use their program.

No you are correct on that, but that isnt the point, with PCs a good one built for gaming can last up to 4 years playing stuff really well (maybe longer now that most PC games are ported from consoles), Tegra 2 tablets havent even been out a year really and now they are on Tegra 3 trying to essentially skip over Tegra 2 devices, if a game can be designed for Tegra 3 it should be available in a Tegra 2 version with some dumbed down graphics, I dont see how this would be so hard, plus the number of people actually using Tegra 3 tablets is pretty small as Asus is really the only one that has one out there with the Prime.
Why would these developers limit their potential user/buyer base so much? I hate to say it (and I love my android phone and tablet) but Google and the Android market are so fragmented its crazy, no wonder top apps come out on IOS first and quite a lot stay exclusive, one OS to worry about and the same specs across the millions of users that own one, the Ipad has pretty much become the console of the tablet world and Android Tablets are the PCs
As far as Splashtop goes, I paid for the Splashtop HD version because it was so much nicer than the regular version, it works fantastic with my Transformer, so I'm not sure why anyone is upset that there is a version that takes advantage of what the Tegra 3 can do, there is already a great HD version for Tegra 2 out there, which is what I was talking about at the top of my post
