[Q] Email Notification with subject - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am only getting the subject in the email notification on some of my email accounts but not the main one. It only tells me how many email I currently have. Is there any way to fix this without reseting? Thank you.

Email Problems

I know I've posted this topic before but this problem is really doing my swede in so absolutely any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have two email accounts set up on my HD, a Hotmail account and my main account from my ISP - BTinternet.com.
The Hotmail acc is fine. When a message is received I get the sound alert, vibration, and the little green number marker on the manila tab.
With my BT account I get nothing. It's set up the same in sounds and notifications but I get nothing! Not even the indicator on the tab. When I go to my inbox the emails are there all opened as read.
Please! Any ideas where I'm going wrong?

Windows Live question

Hi there!
I use normally Windows Live in my Touch HD, but I would like to disable the option "Store Windows Live contacts in your mobile phone's contact list" because is duplicating the contact I already have using Outlook exchange.
I see that option in Windows Live but I can not uncheck it. Is that possible?
Thanks!

I believe what you would need to do is delete your msn/hotmail account and then create a new one using windows live and this time deselect it before process is complete
Thanks Fallen Spartan!!
It worked!
Greetings!
I am facing the problem but can't seem to be able to delete the account as the option to do so under the email accounts is greyed out. Some help please? THank you in advance.

Hi, thanks for responding, i can't seem to delete my hotmail account. That option is greyed out, the delete option for my other gmail accounts are however not greyed out hence i can delete them if i wanted to. It's only the hotmail one that is greyed out and can't be selected.
Try adding the account again.
I believe that you can only have one hotmail account on the device anyway......

Help: deleting mail while keeping it on the server

Hi! I have the following problem ( not directly HD2 related):
I've configured my hd2 to retrieve my mail from my yahoo account each hour ( don't really need push services) and it works flawlessly. The only problem is that when I delete a mail on the phone, it also syncs with the server and the mail gets deleted there too. I'd like to have the option of deleting it only on the phone, and keeping it on the server, is that possible?
Thanks in advance.
Yes, go to mail, enter the inbox.
menu - scroll to tools - options select account
then send/receivce schedula
advanced settings
"when deleting messages:" and change to the appropriate option
Thanks a lot, can't believe I didn't see the "Tools" menu (t'was because I didn't scroll down ).
Wait, I don't see an advanced settings tab at all...
i also would like to know how to do this.....
i use Hotmail for my email..... I have the account set up and working on my phone, but there is no Advanced settings tab available, to select "deleting messages" options ???
is this just not possible to keep messages on the server, using free online email accounts such as Hotmail, Yahoo, gMail ???
PS: I have no idea what these things mean, but I have heard the terms before regarding email account.... is it something to do with being a POP or IMAP account ???

Yet another Exchange question

I have managed to add my account via Accounts & Settings but only options to sync contacts and calendar. BUT when selecting synchronize -nothing happens - says its been synced but no contacts nor items in the calendar appears!
When going to Mail app and adding my mail account same way it says that it cannot connect to the server. WTF - does the exchange not working at all?
Did you try
Settings > Accounts and sync > under Manage Accounts > Sync Calendar / Sync Contacts "Touch to sync now"
you can set your sync settings here, did you enable Push and auto-sync?

You might need to confirm if there is any issue at your Exchange server (but Your Exchange Admin will never admit
ok, let's take 1 step back, and do some fundamental check
1. did you manage to login to your Exchange in the phone? (you should get a pop-up notification if you failed)
2. did you send any email out?
3. did you manage to receive any email?
It is working with HTC Desire so the answer is yes, my Exchange server is fine
any idea which firmware you having?

There is no such option. Under Email icon i only have hotmail account. No other account.
Anyway problem solved. Seems like the default email app combines email and sms and there is no setting to change that so i deleted my email account and downloaded outlook/hotmail app from play store and now no sms appearing in my mail :good:

I had the same thing too, follow these steps to get rid of it
1. Apps -> E-mail (on your phone)
2. Left button near the home -> select ''settings''
3. Tab your email adres
4. Scroll down and select ''More Settings"
5. Scroll down and disable SMS Sync
Thanks !
