I was so patient with this download, I know its the 3.2 update, because its about 357mb. After downloading the update 100% the updater just starts downloading the same thing again. Please someone help me
If you searched some of the threads here you would have found your help.
here is a link to the us update along with instructions.
I updated using this link and downloaded it to my computer, extracted the update.zip, put the update.zip on a micro sd and installed.
After inserting the sd in the A500
Hold the volume down button and continue to hold while powering up.
Once you see a few lines in the upper left of the screen you can let go the volume and let it do it's thing.
Takes about 5 minutes or less to install.

Let me start by saying I have already read homeiss guide for upgrading to 2.2 but when I get to where I have to type in the command line it says cannot load recovery.alt.img: what I'm asking is for full instructions from 2.1 to 2.2 no partial instructions because I've never had this much trouble flashing a rom!

Assuming your ADB and all that is set up...and you already downloaded the Release 1 of Froyo ROM.
Install clockworkMod recovery : Do this by downloading this:
http://loadbalancing.modaco.com/download.php?url=paul/streak/2.5.0.1-streak-clockworkrecovery.zip
and follow this instruction.
Download the recovery image zip file above and extract to a directory
Put your device in bootloader mode (Unplug the device from your PC, remove the device battery, then replace it and turn device on with the camera button pressed. Select the 'fastboot' text on the top right, wait around 10 seconds then plug the device into your PC. The screen display should change to 'FASTBOOT MODE'. If it doesn't, repeat and retry
WINDOWS - double click 'install-recovery-windows.bat'
(I've had instances where I had to literally run this batch file twice to ensure it was picked up by the device.
THEN, place the update-new.zip onto your sd card
Now boot streak into recovery by shutting down and holding vol up and down as you press power, select update from .pkg option and wait for Clockwork to load. Ignore errors regarding Misc...blah, blah...
-select flash zip from sd
-choose select zip from sd and find the update-new.zip and flash it
-Afterwards, press the power button to go back until you see the optiong to reboot. Enjoy your FROYO.
when i press the shutter button to install it gives me two errors: no signature annd verification failed or something like that i never see anything thats says install from zip

If youre at that part it should go like this...
1) Keep both volume buttons down and then power on. Sometimes its better to power on, once you see your back, home, and menu button light up, immediately press the 2 volume buttons and keep it pressed. If successful you should be faced with the Stock Recovery Screen. This will give you 4 options, and option 2 is install Update.pkg. Ensuring there is not file on root of SD Card that is labeled Update.pkg, select Option 2.
2) If you do this it will go black and a message saying.."Android....." and then you'll be faced with Koush's custom recovery. You'll know you're in custom recovery because you have to hold the Streak upside down. (3 buttons on top and earpiece at the bottom). If you see this then you're successful and should be straightforward from there. Follow the rest of the instructions provided in my previous post.
-------
-select flash zip from sd
-choose select zip from sd and find the update-new.zip and flash it
-Afterwards, press the power button to go back until you see the optiong to reboot.
this is frustrating. ... when I did it_it went to the stock recovery and when I press shutter button it doesn't go to the custom recovery and I know I flashed it

nevermind i finally got it
No luck with the manual update. Tried it twice. Down loaded the file, moved it to /sdcard and renamed it update.zip and also tried just "update" with no extension. When I rebooting using the instructions, I saw a message in the top box that said "preparing SD card" but then nothing happened after that.
Any ideas?
after loading the zip on the phone power off /
hold vol down + power/ hit power on bootloader then hit power on recovery/
at the screen with the red triangle hold vol up + power/
then do install update.zip/
wait like 5 mins and dont do anything , the phone will power itself off and like a couple of times
boom your done doesn't wipe but you might need to resetup widgets
Tried that too and still no luck. I know the file's in the right place, but whenever I power up, it's not goiing into the mode where I can choose recovery. It's basically booting up normally after it says "preparing SD card". Strange. I guess I'm stuck waiting on the OTA update from tmob.

Yes, can't get to fast boot. Saw instructions for holding up-volume + trackpad then powering on. Also saw instructions holding down volume than power on.
Neither gets me there.
happened to me also a couple times. take the battery out then put it in, hold down trackpad and press or hold power button while holding trackpad down and then choose bootloader and then recovery
ok. It was my mis-understanding of the directions. I wasn't holding the keys until fastboot menu came up. Got it now. Thanks
Do i unzip the file or leave it how i download the file and just rename it update
(Never Mind Figured it out my self)
You leave it zipped. It doesn't download to the /sdcard root, so you have to move it then rename it to update.zip. Initially, I left off the file extension, but it was expecting it so it failed. After I added back the .zip, it worked flawlessly.
My one mistate was not holding down the keys to get into Fastboot. I was just pressing them simultaneously, not holding. After figuring that out, it was all cool.
Hi. Can anyone help me out here?
I downloaded the file that a few users had linked to in the update thread (I can't get OTA because I'm in Japan).
I renamed it to "update" (I had it as update.zip but then it appeared as update.zip.zip).
I initiated the reboot mode, but a black screen with the Android character and a triangle with an exclamation mark inside it appears and the phone just stops. I needed to remove the battery to turn it off.
Is something going wrong here? My phone is factory unlocked and has not been rooted nor have I put any other modifications on it. Someone mentioned that the file is being stored on the "SD Card" portion of the storage and thus it has to be moved to a different directory?

So after the recovery I should wait for the tri with ! and then hit the volume up then power button. Ok, so the file name should be update.zip? or update with an extension of zip. I am little bit confused here. Thanks

Ok so I have been running the Dexter mod version 1.2 on my elocity, and I got brave and decided to update to v1.41. After installing I am stuck at a screen that says "Booting recovery kernel image". I have been trying to find a solution to this, but I feel a bit in over my head, as I am quite new to this. Can anyone help or point me in the right direction of a fix if there is one? I'm not exactly a tech genius but I can follow step-by-step instructions Anyone?
Make sure the file size of your .zip is 104mb
Could have been a bad download.
Re-download, make sure to check file size.
Start from scratch. Making sure to do the wipe/factory reset and clear cache.
Hope it helps. Bricks are so much less entertaining than tablets.
My .zip is showing as 110mb even after downloading again
Since I am stuck at the "booting recovery kernel image" screen I haven't been able to get back to the recovery menu...is there a way to force?

If you hold the power button in for about 15 seconds it will turn off and you can restart the process.
Hope this helps you.
After it powers back up it keeps taking me to the same screen instead of the recovery menu...
After it has turned off. Removed the SDcard...Hold the button in for 2 seconds and release...Then hold the button in again till the message about holding it in for 5 seconds appears...Keep holding the botton in...DO NOT RELAESE IT till the config screen comes up...Navigate to factory reset...choose the YES option.
That should then reset back to factory settings. I would also redownload the Dexter Mod again, just to make sure it wasn't corrupt.
That should clear it up for you.

For some reason it won't take me to the 5 seconds message (it used to before all this no prob)...it just has the same "booting" message when it initially comes up and if I continue to hold down the power button, it will power back off instead of the config screen
Follow the instructions but hold the power and press the home button at the same time i tend to get recovery that way

Does anyone knwo where i can locate the files for the stock update to froyo 2.2 I have search high and low but in the one reseounce i found it had 2 files but the second file download was broken link.
Quoted below i just need the second file if anyone could help.
Download this file:
http://android.clients.google.com/packages/ota/tmobile_opal/894fb8631db9.hboot-1.33.0013.opal.zip
That is the HBOOT image and is the first part of the patch. Download and save that on your computer. Next download this:
http://android.clients.google.com/packages/ota/tmobile_opal/e3671133717d.signed-opal-FRG83-from-DMD6...
That is the second part of the update and is the actual update to Froyo. Download that and save that on your computer.
Next, just to be sure, BACK UP ALL YOUR DATA and make sure you know all your passwords! Do a factory reset on your phone.
Once that's done and you're back into your phone, copy the first file you downloaded (the HBOOT image file) to your SD card on the phone in the root directory of the SD card (not inside any subfolder), and rename it to update.zip. Make sure you name it update.zip not anything else or it won't work.
Turn your phone off.
Hold down the Home key and the power button and hold them both down while the phone powers up until you see a screen that has a yellow triangle with an exclamation point in it and a picture of the phone next to it. Once you see that screen, press Home and power once again. This will bring you to the recovery screen. You will see an option that says Apply update.zip from SD card. Use the trackball to scroll down to it and click it. It will then install the HBOOT update. The phone will reboot a few times during the process. Don't interrupt it! Once it's done, it'll boot back into the 1.6 desktop. Part 1 of the update is now complete!
Now delete the previous update.zip file from earlier in the process from the SD card. Now, copy the 2nd file you downloaded to the SD card in the root directory and rename it update.zip.
Turn off your phone.
It will then install the actual Froyo update. Again, the phone will reboot several times during the process. Don't interrupt it! Once it's done, it'll boot back up and you will now be running Froyo!
I recommend also doing another factory reset after the phone is fully updated... just to be sure (it's what I did). Enjoy, everyone!
