Venue Pro Not Turning On - Venue Pro General

Even after reading all the horror stories about the DVP, I just purchased a new DVP off eBay. All stickers were on and box sealed. After charging for a few hours I go to play with the beautiful piece of hardware and it just stays on the dell logo. After that, the screen would not come on after doing a battery pull. Tried doing a hard reset using the power, volume down and camera buttons but still nothing. Really sucks as this is a great piece of hardware. Will call Dell Monday and see about getting a replacement. Want this to work...

My only thought is to unplug the phone, leave the battery out for about 30 seconds, and then put the battery back in. It should boot after that.

Tried that. Still no boot. Never had this happen. Gonna call Dell and see about getting a replacement.

Try following the steps in the link below and see if it helps. My phone wouldn't start up once and these steps fixed it for me.

Thanks. How long do I have to press the power button? Mine does not seem to turn off unless I remove the battery.

Thanks - sounds like a different problem, unfortunately. Hope you get your replacement device soon!

Thanks for the suggestions and replies. Dell is shipping me a new DVP in 5 biz days and I will mail the faulty unit once I receive the new one. In the meantime, I am going to continue to see if I can get this one to work.

My wife's venue pro had this problem. Unplug the phone, take out the battery, plug the phone in without the battery for a couple minutes and see if battery symbol shows up or it boots up. Then insert battery. Has worked several times here.
'
'Note: must remove both battery and cord first, then after 30 secs plug back in w/o battery.

Was about to suggest the same thing. I've seen this fix a friend's phone.
Pull the battery, plug the phone in, then put in the battery, power on.

MT4G Turned Itself Off & Power Button Won't Work

Ok.. so this is the second time this has happened..
My phone was fully charged and for no apparent reason turned itself off. Then when I attempted to turn it back on, the power button would not do ANYTHING at all.. even after multiple presses (like 20).
I plugged the charger back into my phone, and the light wouldn't even come on indicating that it was connected to the charger.
Finally pulled the battery, put it back in, and viola - it powered up.
Then I was talking to my buddy and the same thing has happened to his MT4G. Except he never pulled that battery - but he said it took 15 minutes before the power button worked.
I think this is a BIG problem, because when I started searching the net for similar situations, I found one.. with the G2. Now that's TWO T-Mobile phones with the same problem.. Both made by HTC.. both with several Quality Control issues
Anyone else have this problem? I'm starting to think about going with a different phone now, which is crazy because I was absolutely in love with this phone... but I am not about to have a phone that decides to shut itself off and won't power up. Especially since my friend has the same problem which tells me this isn't something specific to my phone only which means potentially any device I get can have this issue.
I was deeply saddened to read the G2 has the same problem. What's going on HTC????!
Are you rooted? Overclocked? It really sounds like phone couldn't handle amount of OC (which happened to me several times). However, if it's a stock phone - hurry up and bring it back to T-mo and ask for replacement. This is not a common issue for these phones, first time I hear about it. Of course, there always will be cases of QC but, once again, this is not a common behavior.
I can say this has never happened to me so it sounds like an issue with your setup. Do you have anything modded ie overclocking is the one I'm thinking. Maybe pushing phone to hard.
Edit: sorry just realized I was in the general section.

No, I am not rooted. Stock running Launcher Pro Plus and Live Wallpaper.
After checking around, it appears this has been an issue for many G1, G2 and even a few Nexus Ones.
It appears the general consensus is that either the contact pins for the battery are not making firm contact when the battery shifts (supposedly on some phones the battery prongs not protruding enough, I have not checked mine yet but I intend to shortly)
I really don't want to return my phone.. my screen is the good one and my FFC is centered..
This happened to me just an hour ago. Only had the phone since friday and had this happen for the first time. Wouldn't respond at all. Everthing stock on phone.

Yeah, but what are the chances of getting one with the good screen, a centered FFC and no gaps in the metal bezel/side of the phone?
I'll wait it out and see what happens. There's always the warranty.
Same thing happened to mine. I took it back. It wouldn't charge and the power button didn't work.
I pulled the battery and it still wouldn't cut on or charge.
Phone was stock.
It magically came on by itself 5 minutes later without me touching it.

Looks like my N1 has given up the ghost

Whelp. My power button has been flaky for a very long time and I've thankfully had it running CM so was able to do trackball wake.
This morning my trackball went green and stayed that way, well... until it went orange, red, and then absolutely crazy. Obviously, tried removing the battery and now am unable to power back on.
When it was powered on, it wasn't able to connect to the computer but did charge. At the moment it's off and is charging from the computer but the trackball is changing colour rapidly and Windows keeps finding a new device etc..
I guess this is time to get a new phone
Edit: HAHA! I did the jumpstart trick and my phone booted! The trackball has turned off now, though it did that earlier and it came back so we shall see!
Edit: Okay that didn't last, it's blinking red and no now its off again arghhh
Edit: Well, the lights haven't come on again since yesterday afternoon and it's running perfectly again. I guess I'm not going to get an upgrade now!
Did you do anything new to it recently?
I did not, but my son got his grubby mitts on it and dropped it on the ground so it's possible that did it, or perhaps he did drop it in water (Don't think he did but we may never know!)
The good news is, I have gone out and bought a Nexus S for £200 from carphone warehouse, so have a phone I can rely upon and can send my N1 in for repairs
Then I don't know... use the N1 for a web server or something?

I use my spare n1 as a mini web server... works great actually. Uses pretty much 0 power and is perfect for hosting files you may need while put and about.

The jumpstart method takes a while for me, and doesn't really work by removing/inserting before charging LED comes back on. One (possible) method to the madness I've seen is rapidly inserting and removing the battery, till eventually, the alternate green/orange blinker is blinking regardless of whether the battery is inserted or not. Removing and reinserting quickly once this happens powers it back on.
However, even if you are out of warranty, I recommend you return to the service center. Self-replacement of the I/O board costs about the same ~$35 for the board, so you might as well pay for professional service. Will GREATLY enhance your resale value too!
I had to have out of country service (I'm based in India), and all they charged me were the 'out-of-country' charges, and even though the N1 was never sold in India, they keep the part here. Mine was fixed within 18hrs from submitting it to the official service center here. Cost me Rs. 1350 (out of country device charges in India).
I have noticed that you can adb reboot a phone while it's charging.
Try it.

Nope, doesn't work on the N1 (not mine, at least). Neither does fastboot. Believe me, if that worked, I wouldn't have bothered getting the power button replaced! It was a terrible ordeal, having no power button and a VERY unstable ICS ROM. Every time it powered off/froze, I spent 20 minutes willing it to turn on!

I just know that when powered off they respond to adb. Did you try it already, just to humor me?

I had tried a while ago, when my power button died on me. I did again, after reading your post. No go. The N1 is well and truly OFF when it's powered off! Checked adb devices and fastboot devices just to be sure. Nope, nothing. Device doesn't show up. Not even in recovery mode.

[Q] Touchscreen Unresponsive after reboot menu

My touchscreen becomes unresponsive after holding down the power button to get to the Phone Options where the Silent mode, Airplane mode, Choose Profile, Screenshot, Reboot , and Power Off options are located. The touch screen becomes unresponsive, I have to power off the screen for a few seconds and turn it back on and the touch screen will work again. It just started doing this 2 weeks ago. I have tried different roms and no difference. I have performed task 29 no difference, even after fresh installation of roms with no other apps installed
Im suspecting a worn digitizer but not sure because it only does it after phone opentions menu is opened, other than that the touchscreen works fine. Than again not sure if its a rom issue because it does it with different roms even older ones i never had problems before. I just know how to flash roms and basic stuff and not that far advanced
By the way I have the latest MGLDR, and recovery, have performed task 29 and even tried it with the SD card out and same result
Any help would be greatly appriciated especially if you have had this exact problem please i want to hear from you
Thank you

Sure he meant this, in order to make sense!
Solution: another touchscreen/digitizer or even better(but more expensive) new combo(lcd+touchscreen/digitizer)!
I have noticed that after it boots it will let me select an option from the the phone option menu but only when it is fresh of a boot, once the phone settles after a minute or two it's when the problem starts
For the meantime I'm using Quick Boot app from the market since that is the only thing it affects. I will check for prices to replace digitizer. I have seen the digitizers alone on Ebay going got around 10 bucks but I'm scared of the installation lol. I'm going to check the phone repair shop and check how they charge. If it's too much I'll just live with it since the Quick Boot app is working fine.
Thanks for the help guys, I really appreciate it and hopefully it can help somebody else with the exact problem

I highly doubt the board is bad. I already took mine apart, a collection of dust and dirt causes the end button to mess up the contacts. Your board is probably fine if you aren't experiencing overheating or any other symptoms, no offence, he probably just wanted more work to do so they could charge you more. I've done some computer repairs for family and friends and it's ridiculous the bull that repair stores throw at you

Lol. what cover are you talking about? i just followed the one video and blew compressed air through ever little nook and crany. It didnt fix it completely as im not too worried about it since my digitizer is shattered. So i'll be more worried about it once i get a new digitizer. But just follow one of the videos on youtube, they take the thing apart all the way down to individual parts.
Hey use attached apk, and remap one of your other buttons to function as the power button. I have mine set to the green button since i dont use it anyhow. That way the endkey doesnt get used so much. It works perfectly. once i get a new display im gonna rig a way to keep this from happening again.

[Q] Nexus 4 suddenly frozen

Hopefully someone can help me.
Suddenly my nexus has frozen with screen off.
Per Google CS instructions, Ive tried to hold down the power button down as well as holding the power button down with volume rocker pressed and still no restart.
Has anyone had this problem, would rather not have to buy a new device and send the other back as that is all I could do.
Hopefully I can just fix it without having to go through the trouble of getting a new device and returning this one.
Thanks in advance!
Try leaving it on the charger for a day. Could be that the battery somehow completely drained which messes up the recharging system in the battery. Leaving it in the charger for some time might help, or not.

Worth a shot...I really miss removable batteries right about now!!!
Yeah, this has happened before with my nexus 7 and my touchpad also. I had left something running that totally killed the battery and I could not get a boot at all. After charging though I was able.
Chances are it is not frozen but rather dead most likely because of the battery.
sent via xda premium with nexus 7
Turns out its most likely not the battery as it was just about fully charged prior to the freeze. Plugging in to a computer to try to do the hard reset gets the notification light to flash red. Someone on another android forum had the same issue and needed a replacement.
Just ordered my replacement which they have available since they kept a reserve for possible defective devices. A hold for the new phone will be placed on my account until they receive the defective unit.
Hopefully its a fairly painless process! That being said, it was a great phone when it worked! Hoping its not going to be a widespread issue among other users.
Just got my new nexus delivered... Hopefully no issues with this one!

N7 Only displaying battery icon

Hey guys,
Recently got my Nexus 7. I tried turning it on when it came out of the box but it didn't.
So I though I'd charge it for a while. When I plug it in a battery icon pops up for about ten seconds and then the screen goes black again.
I can't turn it on at all. Tried holding the power button for a long time but that didn't work either.
I'd really appreciate it if you guys could help me out rather quickly because I'm on holiday in the US so I've got limited time left to swap it, if nothing else helps.

When I took it out of the box the battery was about half full (according to the charging animation). Now it appears to be full. Left it charging for about 2 hours.
Thanks for the quick reply by the way.

Thanks, I'll just leave it charging for the night. I'll see tomorrow. Hopefully this works!
Or do you think I should return it anyways as there might be more to it?

you should probably exchange is well you still have a chance. better to be safe than sorry.
If you're feeling froggy, you could check to see if the battery is plugged in. Asus seems to have a QC problem when it comes to connecting the N7 battery.
