Yep, I did. I am guessing you are not s-off, neither am I.
Go to rom manager and update from there. Go to download ROM, then get superuser, should be the third choice there. Then choose 3.0.2 efgh

you have to go to the official page of superuser http://androidsu.com/superuser/
or download this file http://downloads.androidsu.com/superuser/su-3.0.2-efgh-signed.zip and after flash this zip with clockwordmod recovery and the problem will be resolved.
i resolved this problem with this metod.
sorry for my bad english

Thanks so much, that notification that kept coming up was about to drive me crazy!

Swype issue after Gingerbread 2.3.3 OTA Update.

Hi there,
after the Gingerbread OTA update from DHD many users have a problem with Swype. Immediately after opening a text box Swype is force closing.
Does anyone here know of a solution or how to install a different keyboard and using it (to enter a password after update)?
android market..

I had this problem. I completely uninstalled swype and the installer. Rebooted my phone, then downloaded swype again off their website and installed.
I'll never update my phone.
I suggest you to downgrade yuor device and to mount a custom rom.
So it will works propely.

[Q] Gingerbread 2.3 Status 7

My desire HD i bought unlocked from amazon. I rooted my mobile using visionary and rom manager. 2 days ago i got the update for gingerbread 2.36. I downloaded the update and tried to install but the got exclamation mark. I tried to manually update I got error (Status 7). Please help me.
Do you really want to install an OTA update that will remove root?
If not, then you can simply flash one of the many existing rooted Sense based GB ROMs.
Yes I want Install OTA. I don't have a problem of loosing the root. I don't know how and I am new to andriod
Maybe to ask someone in dev section :S try there mate
Strange but each to their own.
Not seen this before, sounds like the update download might have corrupted. But even so, I'd be tempted to hard reset (back everything up - search to find out how) and wait for next window to update.

You need the full stock ROM if you want to update, if you've removed some stock HTC aps (Amazon for example) you'll get that exclamation mark again and you will not be able to update.
I recommend you to read the root/s-off/radio-off/ how to flash a custom rom guide and install a stock gingerbread/sense w.q rom.
This is what you would get with the OTA update despite the.fact, that you still have a rooted phone

Xda app issues with Rendeiro's scramble mod

So I have been using the scramble 2.2.1 from Rendeiro2005. Very happy with it and will stick with it until there is a good 2.3 mod out.
One weird issue I have been having is that I am unable to update the XDA app that came with the mod. When I go to update it, I get "installation unsuccessful". I tried to just uninstall and reinstall and I am unable to uninstall. With root uninstaller, I get "uninstall unsuccessful".
Not a huge deal, but it is a bit irritating. I looked through the whole thread in the developers forum and didn't see anyone else with this issue. Anyone have any ideas about this?

Oh yeah, when I try to upgrade and it fails, I click on the notification and it says "package not signed correctly".

Ok so I got on a computer and did some searching. I seem to fail at searching the forum from my phone, because I found this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1030053
It is odd, because the OP on that thread was having issues with calls and other things because he didn't patch his baseband. I am on 2.1.54 and not having any other issues besides this one. Do I need to do something with the baseband?
you are not able to update XDA app coz its in /system/app folder and not /data/app
as per my understanding
that's becuase it comes packaged with the rom itself.....
BTW any specific reason why you want to update the app...

I checked for an update because it crashed a couple of times and it gets hung up every so often. I uninstalled it with titanium like in the other thread and I am now getting "Incompatible Update" just like that other guy. Now I have nothing.
I made a backup with xrecovery about week ago and I guess i can restore that to get the app back, but I would like to fix this instead. Is there some reference I can remove to be able to install the app in the /data/app folder?

Got my gingerbread

Who else got it?

If you're running the stock ROM (with root), you still have the ability to check-in for OTAs. If you wanted root, why'd you accept the OTA?
If you haven't gotten the update yet, please download aLogcat off the market here. When you get the notification that an update is available, don't accept it yet. Open aLogcat, press Menu, choose Filter, and type "FOTA" without quotes. Find the line that includes "FOTA_UPDATE" and somewhere in the line should be a URL ending in ".zip". Post that URL to either this thread or this one so that we can all download it, then you can accept and install the update.

Just got update prompt this morning and came here to check up on root after update and saw this. Did what you said for aLogcat, all I got is this:
I/CheckinService( 1512): From server: Intent { act=android.server.checkin.FOTA_CANCEL }
Not seeing any URL, am I doing something wrong?
Btw, I have not updated yet.

checkin successful, but I got the same log result:
I/CheckinService( 1512): From server: Intent { act=android.server.checkin.FOTA_CANCEL }
did it twice, both times got the same above results.....
Has the update actually downloaded yet or is it asking to download? If it hasn't downloaded yet, let it start downloading, then look at the log.

Its asking to be downloaded. It seems like I don't have the option to just download only and install later, as I want to keep my phone rooted, that is why I am little hesitant to update.....
I see the problem... The update does indeed block root access. There is a method at this site for downgrading a Gingerbread G2 to Froyo to get root back, but it was written for the previous leak, not this official update. I have no idea if it still works.

Thank you, rather not risk it.
Having said that, my apologizes as I misread (or blind) but it seems the update downloaded itself, as after reading properly the update has been downloaded and verified (73.1 MB). Must had downloaded by itself to begin with as I have been pressing "Install later" or back button ever since notification.
Guess its too late now. Maybe that is why nobody has been able to post link as it download itself and I am guessing when we are fast asleep, as i got this update in the morning.
Let me know if I can do anything to help, as I would really love to have rooted gingerbread on G2
I believe the update is stored in the cache partition of the internal storage. If you have ClockworkMod installed, you can boot into recovery and wipe your cache so that the next time you start up, it should hopefully download the update again.
About the rooted GB: I would hold off on installing the update for now. Once the download link becomes available, somebody will make a rooted version of it.
Btw battery improvement is amazing

What does it check to block? Can I set ro.secure=1 on CM7 and receive the update? Or do I need to be on 2.2 stock?

With Gingerbread update bad battery drain anyone!
If anyone who has the ota update on there phones notice bad battery drain or has it improved.
For anyone who installed the 2.3.4 update, do you have the CRT animation when turning the screen off?
I don't seem to have it. Was looking forward to it.

[Q] I still have S-Off

After all the moaning and groaning about loosing root after the OTA I bothered to lauch into boot loader today and check my "S" status, and it is OFF. does this mean that i can flash a custom recovery? If so, where can I find a flashable version of Clockwork or amon?
any help would be greatly appreciated!

Put this file on the root of your sdcard and boot into the bootloader.
thanks I'll try that out when I get home.

If you used unrevoked forever to achieve root, you will not lose s-off from an ota. After receiving an ota you can simply flash a PC36IMG of a custom recovery and then flash the latest superuser.zip from your recovery.

Thanks guys, i got it done but had troubles with superuser not flashing. Had to go to androidsu.com and get the ginger compatible version. Didnt even know there was such a thing. Only issue now is that it kicks an error in rom manager when trying to fix permissions. Any ideas?

I think you need to flash a rom now. I don't think you can add superuser to the recent OTA. Once you flash a rom, you will be rooted, just not on stock (unless you flash the stock GB).

Remove rom manager and reinstall it. when you try to fix permissions this time you'll see the SU prompt to accept.
You need to flash a rooted rom now... Soff does not provide you with SU permissions inside stock rom.

Thats what Im doing next, uninstalling it and reinstalling. It does currently get su permission, but something just may not be right.
You can have su on the OTA, you just have to go to androidsu.com and select the version for gingerbread. Worked for me....
Try downloading titanium backup from the market. when it first loads click on problems at the bottom. this will install the newest version of busybox which may help the rom manager issue.
Sorry, edit...

Could it be from trying to run fix permissions in Rom Manager but having Amon Ra loaded? Or maybe still the wrong version of SU? I believe there's an app in the market by the same guy to fix Superuser version.
