Hey everyone just wanted to share with you all that I'm starting an irc for the xperia play. I came from the lg ally and one of the things I loved most about it was the irc and the tightly knit group of owners who were into android modding getting together and discussing their phones, android, and general everday things on irc.
I hope you all come out and form a community as good or better then the one I had on the ally.

Hi as the title says I'm new to the site I seen it after reading about this forum on a tech site , so my story is Dec26my contract was ready for a upgrade took the plunge and went for the nexus S over the iPhone 4 I'm really glad I did I love the phone and the OS iknow a lot of people are bashing it but I don't see the fuss , I've had slowdown but nothing to start getting angry over. I can't wait to see what updates come out and what developers do with the tech.
I do have the issue with apps not showing but my guess is it's just comatability so biggy for me, I love the notification bar too very sweet feature I see why people always say iPhone doesn't do it as good as android, overall I find iOS has a more user-friendly feel to it and looks, but android does the job and does it good and takes the hard stuff out for you.
I'm planning on getting into development I have no experience but I plan on reading books and teaching myself it's a OS I want to stay with.
Welcome to the forums and thank you for the introduction.
I'm sure you will grow to love your Nexus S and Android even more as you play with all the excellent contributions from this development community.
Thank you, it was my main reason to joining I love what communities can do.
Hey everyone. Let me preface this all by saying this is the only post on XDA about Android Static and don't want to be accused of spamming and am only posting here since I am a Vibrant owner and have really come to enjoy the forum and all the work of developers and all the times I've been helped out by other members.
Today, I started a website called Android Static (www.androidstatic.com) that's focused on helping people discover the best Android apps. And, yes, I'm aware of how cliché starting a tech blog in 2011 that's focused on Android apps, they are a dime a dozen.
But I like to think Android Static is different. We cover apps we like in entertaining and sarcastic, bite-sized articles (because who wants to read about bad apps?) We lean more towards apps “off the beaten track” and, at the same time, try to keep our reviews and site straightforward as possible. Moreover, we focus on usability and simplicity rather than reviewing just for the sake of reviewing (So that my girlfriend or Mom can simply look here instead of bugging me on what to download all the time).
So, if you have chance check it out. I hope it is something everyone can enjoy and contribute to whether you’re a writer or developer.
I've got a good IRL friend who has been getting into development recently, he goes by the handle "firstEncounter" here, on twitter, rootzwiki, etc.. He has a Droid X and has developed ICS from source for them; a quick look through this thread will show you that he knows what he's doing.
I'm posting this because with the recent boom in galaxy nexus upgrades and all of the fascinate people leaving for that, plus my friend getting into development and wanting to do some more work for other phones, I wanted to ask if anybody here who has an extra phone or is going to upgrade to the Nexus would be willing to donate a Fascinate to him to help further development. He will mostly work in ICS roms, one of the things he's working on with the Droid X is the new MIUI v4 which is based on ICS, so if he had a Fascinate he would surely bring that to us as well.
I'll get him to post here with more information as to how you can contact him and whatever, feel free to grill him to make sure he's not just another Enyo.
We are both 16 years old, except he's smarter/more motivated than me. I'm posting this mainly to vouch for him since you guys know me more.
Here's an article featuring him on Droid-Life.
Hello fello phone enthusiasts. Would just like to introduce myself and say I hope to contribute much to this community as I have to others. I am getting back into modifying phones once again. With all the new smartphones out I need to get familiar with everything 100%. Originally with smartphones I was a Windows Mobile user to start with until Androids came out. From what I have found out by toying around and reading up.. They are not too difficult and I am already onto rooting my Droid Incredible after a bit more research. When it comes to preferred brands I usually stick with HTC, Samsung, Nokia and Overseas phone brands for the most part.
There is a little about myself.
Cheers,

Having trouble with my old account. If mods can't fix it this will be my new account.
Phonecapone revived and msgs merged. A HUGE thanks to the admins for all the help.
Hey guys, if you want the One, there are a ways of going about it...I'm speaking this from experience because I have gotten an invite, and 4 of my friends have (some devs, some not). I know some of these are obvious, but sometimes, people disregard some of the most obvious ways
So what's makes us special? That's the beautiful part: nothing
I'll start off by saying how I got it. I was one of the first 5000 members of the forums. But I never posted. like ever lol. Eventually, I checked my spam and saw the invite. Easy enough. So be alert
Next, one of my friends was the opposite of me. He was late to the forum, but really enjoyed the OnePlus community. He was very active. He got to the "kitkat" level in the forum system and soon enough, he got an invite. So be active
My second friend got it because he won one of their contests. Simple as that. So be aware.
Lastly, two of my friends got it via invites from people they knew. So be social.
Now, if you're really impatient, buy the ColorOS edition OnePlus, and flash CM11S onto it. That's my last piece of advice: be flexible
A summation for those who don't want to spend time:
Be Alert
Be Active
Be Aware
Be Social
It's just a phone, not a Target's team members seminar. Pretty sure eventually the phone will become widely available and the exclusivity will wear off.

Oh it will definitely. But people don't want to wait. There are literally thousands of people begging for invites on G+ and the OnePlus forums. I just thought I'd share my experiences to help the people who really want it
Also, I actually like Target lol. I made the post like this just because I thought it was easier to follow and simpler to remember
