According to this website, there have been multiple rumors from independent sources at MWC stating that Gingerbread is supposed to drop OTA by the end of this week or early next.
Any truth to this or do you guys call shenanigans?
http://www.mobilecrunch.com/2011/02...e-to-hit-nexus-ones-within-the-next-few-days/
I'll believe when I see it.
I'm afraid this rumour is even less reliable than @googlenexus' tweet in the early December days...
Same.
10sames.
I really want to believe this one as there are multiple devices set to launch with Gingerbread, and it's been long enough. Yeah, I am running CM7 but I want it fully optimized with the OTA drivers.
Here it goes again...
I will believe it when I see it.

Eventually, one of these "here we go again" threads has to be the real one.
so wait, you said it might come this week, or next week.
so it might come in the coming weeks....and yeah this is what google has been saying all along.
let's see what happens next month.
They said "next few weeks" and that was 3 months ago, so following that logic, "next few days" will be 3 weeks
keep waiting...

Gingerbread ota will drop the day I purchase a babana shaped galaxy s.
Been running gingy on my N1 for some time now...In CM7 form.
BREAKING NEWS #mwc11: "#Nexus One #Gingerbread OTA": "In the next few DAYS".That STILL is:From this very instant up to the rest of eternity.
I understand all of the scepticism, but, with the slew of devices announced at MWC that are set to launch with Gingerbread, doesn't it make sense that the Nexus One should receive the update soon?
With the passion branch alive and well in AOSP, it's highly likely that the Nexus One is still a viable handset for Google.
I did wonder if we'd see an OTA during MWC. It seems to be a good opportunity for Google to promote Android with all these new devices that are lined up to launch with Gingerbread.
Can only hope at this point i guess

Good. I would propose, you just go and buy it right now, so we can have our Gingerbreadz
Well i've played around with some roms here, some mostly work and some are still a work in progress. I'd prefer to get a polished Gingerbread whenever they decide to push it out, not really rushing this one.
I'd wait for 2.4
After using some of the AOSP built roms out there, and seeing how they are a bit wonky, I am perfectly happy waiting for a polished release. If that means 2.4 with all the bugs and fixes, then so be it.
At the end of the day, even though people who own the n1 are desperate to continue to feel like they are up to date, the fact is that 2.2.2 is functional as hell, and there isn't much that is going to be augmented by the release of 2.4. Honestly, it will look different, im sure it will have a few improvements but the functionality will still be the same. It is not the type of jump we saw going from 2.1 to 2.2
The easter bunny will be delivering it to your doorstep....
FFS, rumors or not, I'll believe it when someone ACTUALLY gets an OTA for 2.3.
Anyone possibly care to update? Tomorrow's the 24th. last I re-call 3D And our SGSII where suppose to release.

No matter what apple does, they can't stop future Samsung devices from shipping. I would be seriously stunned if this lawsuit gets that far (like if it really happens).
And for the WiThin, they won't announce anything for like two weeks so the Evo3D sells well, and then they should release it by the end of July when the 30 day period for Evo3D is over, but not too long after so they won't be the last one releasing the Galaxy SII line.
Well... Hopefully..
For those who are looking to buy an A500. Staples will have them on sale for $299 on 11/13. Looks like it is in store only.

by T2 you mean Transformer 2 right? which is actually the Transformer Prime, and not launching with ICS. But like every other tablet, getting ICS soon
But yeah, the price on ALL tablets are going to be dropping soon anyway. With updated models coming out and Christmas sales, not to mention the impending ICS release, tablets are going to be a hot item this holiday shopping season. I may even pick up another one if I find a good enough deal

Look, I'm not trying to argue but you keep pushing. You're like one of those people who always has to be right no matter what... Yes, it was supposed to be released yesterday, and yes, they also pushed it to December. That happens all the time. They did not say why, however. They never officially stated that it was for ICS. That was only speculation. They did, however, say ICS would be coming to both Transformer's before the end of the year. Whether or not the TP launches with ICS is still unconfirmed. Until Asus makes an official statement, it is only speculation. Could it be true? Possibly. But it's still unconfirmed, nonetheless.

All the major tech blogs have said the Prime will launch with 3.2 in December, with ICS following as an upgrade. Since they're getting their info straight from the vendor, I would count them as more credible than some guy on an online forum.

"The Transformer Prime is expected to launch in the US in December with Android 3.2. ASUS is hinting at more details on Ice Cream Sandwich availability at the launch of the Prime next month. Based on what I've heard, I wouldn't expect ICS on Tegra 3 until early next year."
http://techland.time.com/2011/11/09/asus-transformer-prime-is-the-first-quad-core-android-tablet/

http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/09/transformer-prime-detailed-10-inch-super-ips-display-12-hour/

"ASUS’ Eee Pad Transformer Prime, the second-gen Transformer, may have its launch pushed back into December, so as to arrive running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich according to the latest rumors. Google has agreed to help ASUS develop ICS for the Tegra 3 based Transformer Prime, DigiTimes‘ supply chain sources reckon, in an attempt to persuade the company not to shift its focus to Windows 8 tablets instead."

"For all of you Asus Transformer fans we have some good and bad news for you. The November 9th launch date for the Transformer Prime has been pushed back to sometime in December. Yes, this is a bummer dudes. I too was looking forward to some NVIDIA quad-core tablet goodness sometime this month.
But, on the other hand, the good news is that apparently Google is willing to help Asus in preparing the tablet so that it ships with ICS on board at launch. That’s cool, right?! We will just have to wait it out for about another month because you know the big G wants their Galaxy Nexus to be the first to arrive on scene rocking the new Android 4.o operating system. And by the way things have been lately, we all should be used to this waiting game by now… or at least expect it."
http://www.talkandroid.com/71362-asus-delays-transformer-prime-to-december-ics-on-board/
"Asus has yet to officially announce the Eee Pad Transformer Prime — that’s supposed to happen tomorrow. And while it was originally slated to launch some time later this month, the Tranformer Prime has now been pushed back to December so that Asus can ship the tablet with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich pre-installed. Google has agreed to lend a hand to make sure the transition to ICS is a smooth one for Asus."
http://www.geek.com/articles/gadget...old-till-december-pending-ics-update-2011118/
"There’s news floating around that Asus has delayed the release of the Transformer Prime tablet, from November to December, in order to get Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on-board at launch. Google is assisting Asus in order to complete the process as quickly as possible. It’s unclear at this point if Asus still plans to announce the tablet on November 9th like they previously scheduled, or if that’s been pushed back as well. Stay tuned."

There's a difference between rumors and facts. What were quoted in the links I provided were info straight from the vendor from the Prime's official announcement date (11/09/2011). What you're quoting are rumors and gossip. From your own link,
http://www.slashgear.com/asus-trans...ushed-to-dec-for-ice-cream-sandwich-08193892/
"according to the latest rumors"
Please note that this particular blurb was on the 8th, a day before the official announcement.
The other links you provided are merely gossip. Given the tendency of sites to copy-paste content from each other, rumor propagation is rife. Note that all the sites you mentioned are quoting the same rumor.
Regardless of how you parse these, it's as the other poster said, that we'll know for certain when it ships. It's not a big deal either way. The main reason that I replied is because of your juvenile responses to the other poster, with petty put-downs and personal attacks. They were uncalled for.
e.mote, i know you're right, but just let him believe what he wants. obviously when i said he's one of those guys who always has to be right, i hit the nail right on the head. his response to me was totally out of line, even after i point out that it's all speculation and we won't know the truth until we get closer to the actual launch. it should be left at that.

Samsung Galaxy Note Update – No Ice Cream Sandwich But Worth It
Want Ice Cream Sandwich on your new Samsung Galaxy Note?
Well your going to have to wait, read on to find out more:
Samsung update Galaxy Note but not with ICS:
With the UK seeing the arrival of a White Galaxy Note today.
Older owners of the Samsung Galaxy Note have been waiting for news about its future upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich, but with the debacle that has ensued for many devices it looks like Samsung are playing it safe with this new update and not giving ICS a chance to cause havoc on more happy new customers.
Firmware update not ICS:
While I can see the disappointment in peoples faces already, all is not lost with this update as it does appear to offer some significant improvements even if it is only a bit of a make-up job, so here is what will be included with the update:
Set brightness levels for browser to save some juice
Improved lockscreen with arrows around the padlock, encouraging you to swipe to unlock.
Preinstalled torch widget that supports three different brightness levels
Keyboard now has five rows with the number row being always visible
New “one hand” mode that shrinks the layout, making it easier to type with one hand only.
Calendar app now supports different date formats
It appears that the update is only for devices that are unlocked and it will be rolling out right about now, with carriers bringing the update to owners at a later date. This will be to ensure that they dont p*** off more people with an unstable update that can and does occur…wise move I say.
Are you wishing that this was more of an Ice Cream Sandwich flavour than a tarted up gingerbread?

Ah ok, since the article was written on the 23rd I took it as the author was saying they (Samsung) had decided for the Note to get ICS outside of the original target of first quarter 12'
its by far too late now, we should have it immediately
Can't wait!
All those features are present on current LA4 Gingerbread ROM.
All those features are not the reason why we want ICS
Q1 means November+December+January in USA.
Samsung is not based on USA so they may mean January+February+March.
I expect a lot more from the ICS ROM than a few new icons and changes on the lock screen. For example corrected color rendering.

In nearly all circumstances, Q1 in the US means January through March. The only exception that I know of offhand is the "fiscal year" (used by businesses for financial reporting) in which Q1 is October through December for whatever reason.
I don't think they're going to let us wait much longer than march.. That'd be a bit dissapointing.
I just wonder if we're getting more specific dates any time soon. As that'd be nice to have, a date to look forward to.. Now it's just wild guessing. Could be tomorrow, could be the end of march..
Yeah I've learnt my lesson. This article is just an opinion piece.
There is no statement from Samsung talking about a new delay. I still expect to see it in the 1at qtr this year (next few months)

Seriously if they don't fix core issues like color rendering with ICS, I am switching to Galaxy Nexus.
I knew that I will have to deal with Touchwiz, the bloatware and slow updates, but I never expected issues like this to arise when I decided to get the note.
Is there a problem with color rendering? This is the first I heard of this. Is it a wide spread problem? All I hear is how beautiful the screen and colors are.

Where on earth did you hear that!?
The year is divided into 12 months. A quarter of a year means 3 of the 12 months.
If you'd like to know more about counting up to 12 and dividing it:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calendar_year
explaining each quarter and their dates.
Here is an extract:
Generally speaking, a calendar year begins on the New Year's Day of the given calendar system and ends on the day before the following New Year's Day. By convention, a calendar year consists of a natural number of days. To reconcile the calendar year with an astronomical cycle (which could not possibly be reckoned in a whole number of days), certain years contain extra days. Through further insertion of non-day units of time, the calendar year can be further synchronized; however, these extra units of time are not considered part of the calendar.
The Gregorian year begins on January 1 and ends on December 31 with a length of 365 days in an ordinary year and 366 days in a leap year giving an average length of 365.2425 days. This is very close to the average length of 76 Islamic calendar years (based on the average time between successive vernal equinoxes, currently 365.2424 days and increasing marginally). Other formula-based calendars can have lengths which are further out of step with the solar cycle, for example, the Julian calendar has an average length of 365.25 days, and the Hebrew calendar has an average length of 365.2468 days.
The astronomer's mean tropical year which is averaged over equinoxes and solstices is currently 365.24219 days, slightly shorter than the average length of the year in most calendars, but the astronomer's value changes over time, so William Herschel's suggested correction to the Gregorian calendar may become unnecessary by the year 4000.
[edit] Quarters
The calendar year can be divided into 4 quarters, often abbreviated Q1, Q2, Q3 and Q4:
First quarter: from the beginning of January to the end of March
Second quarter: from the beginning of April to the end of June
Third quarter: from the beginning of July to the end of September
Fourth quarter: from the beginning of October to the end of December

Regardless, I don't mind waiting 2 more months for the update. This phone is fantastic so far just the way it is. If it gets better? Fantastic! hehe. I'd love the new ICS OS. It looks great and it sounds great. But there might be a lot of bugs. 2.3.X has been around for a while and has a lot of bugs solved, ICS is on one device officially (maybe 2?) and 0 for any 3rd party non-google developed devices.
Regardless, bring it on!

Ahahahah, all bull****.
ICS is coming, just let Samsung release a leak and you'll see.
Chances we will get Jelly Bean on the Eee Pad Transformer?
very high
I'm hoping there's a good chance for JB. As a TF101 owner, they basically have a good record updating our OS's, so I'm guessing we might get it in 3-6 months. (yes i said 6).

launched end of may / beginning of april last year so we still have some time
Yeah till at least Christmas I hope But if Cm9 (Or cm10???) gets it so will we.
Base on the TF101 spec.. it more than capable of handling JellyBean. And Asus know this too.. unless they play this marketing over bussiness game on us and indirectly forcing Asus loyalties to buy their new range of upcoming devices with JellyBean ready. Will wait and see what in Asus future pipeline in store for us by 3rd quarter in the calander year.
TF101 is still a current model, it's still for sale by Asus, and therefore will be part of their 18month support agreement (which only starts when the product is discontinued).
With this, and the fact that Asus have been working with Google on the Nexus7 and will have had access to the Jellybean source for quite a few months, and the fact that ICS still isn't 100% stable on the TF101, i think it's pretty much a given that it will happen.
Not that I care, as mines a BO50 and totally unlocked to flash what I want, so can go CM10 if I want, but it would be nice if Asus supported it.
JB isn't going to be released from Google until thanksgiving (from what I've read) so if we get it at all it wont be until after the first of the year. remember Asus now has the slider, the Prime and now the tf301. i am sure they will have others by then as well. those devices will get updated first just because they are newer and it will be at least 2 month per device for each update to make sure they have a stable release. so don't hold your breath, IMHO.

The only reason I hope/think we will get it because asus is a great company. I just wish they made a phone other than padfone (regular smartphone) and I would buy that soooo fast.

ICS has VERY poor install rate. Even since the source code release most new devices released have still used Gingerbread. Honeycomb and ICS were both rushed. I think most devices will end up skipping ICS and move straight to Jellybean.

6 months? Hell, I hope to have a tablet running Win8 by then.

That's what the Android hating Apple sites would have you think. Wait until you see the Google pie-chart next time around.
I know all the 2011 Xperias are now ICS, the 2012 Xperia S, with the others hot on their heels, wast swathes of HTC phones from 2011/2012, along with Moto, Samsung Note/Tabs, The Transformer range.
There isn't a whole lot from the last 18 months that's not got it yet, or not due it in the coming weeks.

Really? You do know they don't run Windows apps right?
Nobody that's got a techbrain and equiped with the facts wants a Windows 8 tablet.
Watching the live stream now - source for JB is going to be mid July, so I don't think it will be TOO long before someone gives us JB - either Asus or CM or someone..
Yes I watched as well, SDK available today, Source Mid July, PDK available today (we don't qualify most likely unless someone wants to get into the hardware business). Available on current nexus devices by mid-July, and the Xoom I think I heard. I am really hopefully that our first gen Transformers get this because it will likely be the last update my tablet sees before it is upgraded some time next year. (2 year cycle on tablets and phones, phone already done this year now I just have to wait patiently till next year for a new tablet ;-) )
The Google Now and the new notification features is what really has me interested.
are we loosing the tablet ui? or is it because its 7 inches? it would be kinda awkward on the 10inch screen

Ya i agree a lot of the phones sill on 2.3 and such are because people are to tech illiterate to press the check update now button or simlpy run odin/kies. It does not mean that the update is not available. And add that to the massive ammounts of sh*** chinese kirfs you get the poor looking pie chart

I can't do anything productive with Android like use MS Office. NONE of the Android office suites do what I need them to do. So Microsoft is going to put Win8 on a tablet but you are not going to be able to use office. I don't think so.
The AOSP branches will probably see JellyBean versions coming out relatively soon after source code is released. As far as official JellyBean support from Asus... I'd say don't get your hopes up, and for sure don't count on it..
