Go take a look in the Nexus 7 section. The first thing I did was unlock and root it. Keep in mind that unlocking it will wipe your data, so I would do that first.
Welcome to the club

Oh. I already installed a bunch of apps. What Rom are you using?

I'm just stock rooted right now. I'm happy with the layout and the battery life is amazing. Got over 9hrs of screen on time last cycle

All of the things. Assuming you already have root you should dl the standard stuff - Titanium Backup/Pro, ES File Explorer, XDA Pro , Voodoo OTA, Rom Toolbox, SuperSU (that's just what I prefer instead of just superuser), Terminal Emulator, and the like. Other than that it's all you. Whatever puts wind in your sails.

I just got a 32GB Nexus 7 also trying to decide what ROM to install lol. I love Scott's roms on my Infinity so I will try his first on this.
Running a stock rooted 16gb and using ROM toolbox Pro for Backup, ad blocker, launches nandroid backups, and more. SuperSu Pro for root. SwiftKey Tablet is amazing. Tablet talk is also really handy.
Nova Launcher and HD Widgets look very slick.
Don't forget about stick mount, I picked up a Samsung otg on Amazon. Speaker Boost also helps my earphones while watching movies on the plane.

I know it's kind of a cardinal sin on XDA but I am still running rooted stock 4.1.2 on my N7 also. I've tried a few custom ROMs but I always end up going back to stock bc it seems like it runs smoother.

Yeah, I've been thinking about trying a rom solely for tablet mode, but it works really well the way it is on stock

Well I am fairly new to Android, and I am very weary of flashing my ROM. The only reason I want to is so I can uninstall system apps, as I cannot even uninstall them threw ES File Explorer. (I am rooted)
Or am I simply doing something wrong?
Anyway, what is a good, stable, reliable ROM? I looked at some on here, but they were beta, or an ICS version. I really love the stock icon pack on mine as well.
:s
I am on 4.1.1
Just to uninstall apps? Well... If you like the Moto Blur skin, just get an app freezing/quarantine app...
ROM wise, our current selection is nice. Its what you prefer. You should research the different flavors like Cyanogen Mod and Eclipse. Just to get an idea of what makes those ROMs different from one another. Then get comfortable with safe strap and have at it!

I say just freeze them so you can receive OTA updates. You need those apps present to do it!

What is an app freezing/quaratine app? If I can remove system apps without changing ROM, then I would much rather do that. And CM does not offer an official version for Razr M, yeah? Which of the two unofficials, 10 & 10.1, is more stable?
I am not sure where to go to learn all this. :s

Titanium Backup. All you need is root, no custom rom necessary.

Yeah TiBu allows you to uninstall the bloat rather than freezing if that's what you're looking for

I used I think was Hiuiuninstaller. Something along those lines. To uninstall my system apps.
Thanks for the help though!

You can both uninstall and freeze with Titanium Backup.

App Quarantine is very simple. It just freezes the app, and hides it away. TiBU is good too! I prefer AQ because of the simplicity of it. You choose from the list of apps what you would like frozen and then hit the lock icon in the top right. Very simple.

also, the p3droid razr m toolbox on the app market debloats as well.
I recently flashed mint jelly. I liked Polaris office 5. I'd like to keep using it. Question is, would restoring app+data thru TiBu, a backup which was made on MDL, to my new MEA base work? Or would the pre installed app have an entitlement check of some sort that wouldn't allow me to use it?

It most likely will work. I'd give it a shot. You don't have anything to loose. Make a nandriod first just in case.

There is an app on the market called app2zip which might do what you're looking for. I've used it before to make a zip of Titanium Backup and it worked well. But it hasn't been updated since last year.

Titanium Backup can create an update zip of itself or of all the apps+data that you have backup up.

how??
Sent from my Nexus S using xda premium
Backup your apps & data as usual
Next look under Batch Items - Recovery mode - Create "update.zip" from app+data backups.
Click on Run
You can then give the update.zip a name (or leave it as is) and select which apps to include.
Finally click on the green tick in the top right.

To create an update.zip of just titanium backup, on the front screen of TB press your menu button to bring up the Main Menu.
Scroll to the bottom and find "Special Features". Under that heading click on "Create "update.zip" ..."
Good luck.

Go to the play store and search contacts backup. There are a few good apps to do that. Be sure with those apps to save on your external SD card. In case you plan on wiping your internal memory.
