Go take a look in the Nexus 7 section. The first thing I did was unlock and root it. Keep in mind that unlocking it will wipe your data, so I would do that first.
Welcome to the club

Oh. I already installed a bunch of apps. What Rom are you using?

I'm just stock rooted right now. I'm happy with the layout and the battery life is amazing. Got over 9hrs of screen on time last cycle

All of the things. Assuming you already have root you should dl the standard stuff - Titanium Backup/Pro, ES File Explorer, XDA Pro , Voodoo OTA, Rom Toolbox, SuperSU (that's just what I prefer instead of just superuser), Terminal Emulator, and the like. Other than that it's all you. Whatever puts wind in your sails.

And don't forget adaway useful tool

I just got a 32GB Nexus 7 also trying to decide what ROM to install lol. I love Scott's roms on my Infinity so I will try his first on this.
Running a stock rooted 16gb and using ROM toolbox Pro for Backup, ad blocker, launches nandroid backups, and more. SuperSu Pro for root. SwiftKey Tablet is amazing. Tablet talk is also really handy.
Nova Launcher and HD Widgets look very slick.
Don't forget about stick mount, I picked up a Samsung otg on Amazon. Speaker Boost also helps my earphones while watching movies on the plane.

I know it's kind of a cardinal sin on XDA but I am still running rooted stock 4.1.2 on my N7 also. I've tried a few custom ROMs but I always end up going back to stock bc it seems like it runs smoother.

Yeah, I've been thinking about trying a rom solely for tablet mode, but it works really well the way it is on stock

I recently flashed mint jelly. I liked Polaris office 5. I'd like to keep using it. Question is, would restoring app+data thru TiBu, a backup which was made on MDL, to my new MEA base work? Or would the pre installed app have an entitlement check of some sort that wouldn't allow me to use it?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk 2
It most likely will work. I'd give it a shot. You don't have anything to loose. Make a nandriod first just in case.

Your about 2 weeks too late. Anyway, why would anyone want it? It completely takes away root, and loki custom recovery.

If you really want it, install Kies on your pc, connect your phone and pc via USB and let it patch it. Like was said above, it will unroot your phone... however, if you're not rooted, no worries.

Hey there guys, I'm relatively new to all this rooting and such. I have a rooted ATT s4. I have titanium backup (I just don't know too much about Roms, flashing, and custom recoveries). Anyway, as I saw the update, I went and started the update. Meanwhile updating, I came across a page saying it broke root...it kept updating though so I frantically thought of things I could do to stop it and simply used titanium backup to freeze the att updater app. If I unfreeze it, it will resume downloading from where it left off. I have downloaded folder mount, set CPU, and I don't think I've flashed anything...I don't even know what it means...but yeah, I really envy the better quality of the photo taking and HDR recording as well as the better memory usage and lag removed with the update...is there a way to keep root and have the updated firmware...keep in mind I'm still a noon so please use non geeky terms...thanks and any help is appreciated...(is there a way to cancel the ATT update progress so I don't have to keep the app frozen through titanium backup?) Thanks again

here is geek terms for you, you should have read in the many threads about this, you are now stuck on the update, no going back, there is a root method in the works right now, maybe released already, keep searching the general thread, there is something on the root. Sorry, but giving it to you straight, don't take it wrong. Always READ before you even look at doing something to your phone, I CAN NOT STRESS how important that is.
Good luck.
Thanks you.
Well, i figure you mean no harm, but your style of writing killed a part of me... My phone is still rooted though, as I said. Furthermore, it ISNT updated. I froze the updater before it fully processed. Thanks

In fact, this rom has features that I don't like. It says it removes carrier name and things like that. Some people experienced no wifi and no data. Is there not such a thing as just the new update with root. Minus all the custom features.

If you follow instructions, and check the OP add ons none of what you say will happen. Very fast, stable ROM. Learn what to do by reading..hell watch some YouTube videos...its not that difficult..if you don't like the ROM you can just nandroid back.

The people not getting wifi/data ARE NOT READING! PERIOD!
I have a new program I am starting...
1) Send me your phone, you pay shipping
2) I will load it for you (rom of your choice)
3) you pay for the shipping back
4) guess what, working.
Cost - priceless! - Not Cheap!

I recently got an S 4 and I would like to ask, what are the safe applications to uninstall/disable?
Will disabling them have the same effects as uninstalling?(Like freeing up some RAM space) TIA!

Use TrulyClean to remove bloatwares, here's a database of apps which can or can't be removed
awesome! I had manually removed stuff but had loads left / half broken. that script is awesome
Nice I'll try it when I get back. I don't have to root it right?

Yes, you always need root to remove system files. No matter the tool you do it with.
Thats the super user app right? Use that and everything can be done? and does rooting void warranty?
