IGO problem with iconia - Acer Iconia A500

I have IGO on my htc hd2 and it is working well on it but when i transfer it to the iconia it refused to work because the screen resolution how i can make it open??

i was able to run igo some days ago at iconia but the max resolution of igo is 800x400 or something like that - so it looks ****ty on tablet.
right now there is no igo version which will properly run on tablets.
but let's still have hope that it will be changed.
proxonic

so what is the best program to use for navigation ????

sygic aura or co-pilot.
both are working great on iconia a500.
navigon does not work because of missing Imei number - iconia doesn't have it.

How slow is tomtom navigator 6 on the mda

I am wondering if it is a decent solution for satnav or if i need to front over for the full gps unit.
I am concerned that on either the dash or the mda it will be too slow.
Anyone using it? I dl a er.. trial version but it won't load without a gps locator installed - so i can't demo it. I don't like using cracked software, but i really don't want to shell out 300 for all of this just to find out it's barely usable and for 100 more i could get a 910.
Its fine on teh Wiz. There are versions that work on the Dash, but its much more of a PITA.
I use tomtom on my phone and i find that it is not so slow!!! Some times it is due to the gps unit i find! If it is not clear skies it take a little long to update on the phone, but i dont misses roads so that is the main thing i guess.
Yeah TomTom 6 works awesome on my MDA. Highly recommend.

OnCourse Navigator 8.3 Released.

For everyone like me who has been waiting since they purchased their blackstone for OnCourse to support WVGA screens they day has apparently come. According to the forum link below they launched version 8.3 with WVGA support today. The website still shows 8.0 so I have posted a question to confirm.
http://www.oncoursenavigator.com/forum/default.aspx?f=10&m=7290&p=1
Is Text to Speech supported?
It seems that almost no GPS software for Windows Mobile supports that. I have seen Destinator 8 which supports it, but it is only 640x480.
The specs say that it does. I'll confirm on here as soon as I get my copy. right now I'm waiting until they say that I will for sure get 8.3 and it will work on the HD. It is similar in functionality to IGO 8. I'll post again when I make my order and when I get my copy to confirm it works (and TTS)
This is strange: I've had my HD for 6 months and I bought OCN 8 at the same time - it's fully WVGA compatible right out of the box (so to speak). Works portrait and landscape on onkolog custom 6.1 and 6.5 ROM's.
It's ver 8.13...I don't know if the new version will be significantly different than what I have, but I know I won't be upgrading.

They confirmed that the ones ordered today will be the 8.3 version and it does support the HTC Touch HD. I should have it some time next week. I'll post how everything works then.
Recieved OnCourse Navigator 8.3
Ok, I got my copy of OCN on tuesday and have used it for a couple of days. I thought I would write up my personal opinion of the product after two days of use. If my opinion changes down the road I'll make another post.
As a little background I have had a garmin standalone unit and garmin mobile xt on my phone in the past.
----------------------------Problems Section----------------------------
I had two problems getting the software working. I was sent an microSD card with the maps, software and manuals on it. When I put the card in it appeard to install properly.
The first problem was it did not recognise the gps (skip this section if you like as both problems were resolved). Solution to this problem was to go into Start->Settings->System->External GPS. On that screen select a GPS Program port (I selected COM4). on the hardware screen select none for GPS hardware port and access should be set to manage gps automatically.
The second problem was that the TTS voices were not working. After uninstalling and reinstalling this worked fine. This program did not show up in the remove programs window so I had to go to the programs\OCN directory to find the uninstall program.
-------------------------End Problems Section----------------------------
GPS Reception - This is the fastest application for getting a gps signal I have ever used. This includes the Garmin Mobile XT on this phone, Google Maps and a program I wrote myself. A small note on this is I do have QuickGPS updated.
Map Quality - I haven't driven around to much but it is very good so far. A major highway was added in my area last year and it is already on OCN (my wifes updated Garmin maps do not show the road yet). On the other hand my childrens daycare center moved a couple of years back and it still shows the old location. Overall I would give this a positive review to this point.
Screen - The main map screen is nice and easy to read. The Road signs that it shows are useful.
Battery - Does drain the battery but not to horribly.
Nice features that are better then on Garmin Mobile XT
TTS works great. slightly strange thing is if you get on HWY 212 WB (westbound) it states Highway 2 1 2 W B. It takes some getting use to.
It comes on a 8gb card (no 16 gb card to date, please ask about it if you purchase a copy. the more we ask the more likly they will eventually have it)
Works with internal gps, if you want larger then a 2gb card garmin must use an external gps
3D buildings in metropolitan areas is nice but not necissary.
Missing Features that exist on Garmin Mobile XT
On Garmin Mobile XT you can get the directions repeated if you miss them. At this point I have not figured out how to do this on OCN.
Garmin can search for POIs from Google for the most accurate poi list I have seen.
OCN does not seem to have any ability to get gas prices.
TMC (traffic) does not work in the US and on Mobile XT it is free if you have an internet plan.
OCN shows time left to destination but it doesn't show estimated arival time. Silly little thing but I don't like doing the math when I'm in a hury.
Overall I'm very happy with my purchase and recommend it to anyone who is looking for navigation in north america.
OnCourse gone?
I am trying to find the OnCourse software for Android. Has it vanished? Can not seem to find it anywhere. Anyone have an updated URL, the ones I am finding are from around 2008.

[Q] Navigation on folio 100

Is there any good navigation software for folio 100?
For gps we can use blutooth gps.
so far the only SW I know are Navigon, Sygic, Copilot and the one from Google.
You can try Copilot, iGO or Sygic Aura
I tried to install Sigic Aura but it told me it need "3D hardware acceleration not available in this phone". Is it possible to solve this problem???.
Thanks.
I try Igo My Way and the screen is to small.I install CoPilot but I can't run it. It say "CoPilot's code cannot be loaded by the system". With Aura I have problem with 3D...

Thanks a lot.
Hello,
someone who tried this solution:
Haicom HI-505SD standard Bluetooth GPS receiver with standard miniSD to SD adaptor
Pros:
-standard Bluetooth connection
-power directly over the SD Card slot
to use navigation on the folio, u will need it to be constantly powered in the vehicle. there are many bluetooth gps receivers, and some of them are reported to work nicely with android 2.2 with the help of some 3rd party apps. but didi anyone find a way to power the folio in the car?
Officially there is no connector that you can use, but you can use a 3th party adaptor to get a 220/110 volt out of the cigarette lighter outlet.
You can also get a external backup battery.
I have a 12->15-21v laptop power supply to use in the car which was much better than trying to use a 240v charger in the car (it kept killing the little invertors I tried before).
Ok, i found a solution to using gps on the folio via bluetooth. There is an app called gpsredirect for winmo5 n up. Install bluetooth gps on android. U will need a pda running win mo 5 or above with integrated gps chipset. I han an old eten g500+ i was not using. I will make as my bluetooth gps receiver for the folio. Gps redirect works only on some devices, check the tested n supported list!
Just need to find a working navigation app for the folio now. Got a car charger for the eten g500+, just need to solve the charging for folio n the navigation app n we r good to go.
ok. i got co-pilot live on the folio and it works nicely. runninf on full screen. the graphics are not astonishing since its extrapolated and not made for 1024x600 screens but it looks fine to me.
I havent gotten time to try it with the apps i mentioned and the eten g500+, but will do so as soon as possible. now just needs to figure out a way to charge the folio in the car
at the end, it just for the sake of doing this and seeing a nav app running properly on the folio, but practically it is useless. the screen is too big to be legally placed on the dashboard of the car or the windshield for that matter.
secondly due to the screen size and brightness, it is not advised to drive at night with that kind of brightness flashing in the eyes.
i have a bleuthoot gps and working with navigon and ndrive on my folio.
it works perfect
Sygic
I think the best is Sygic GPS Navigation.
Very smooty and fast.

Archos + GPS (external)

hi there..
i would like to discuss about having archos as navigator or GPS..
im using A70IT,so it does no has internal gps receiver..
from theory, we can achieve it by using bluetooth gps receiver and gps software..
anyone had tried this??
can you tell what brand of bluetooth gps receiver that you use..
plus with the gps software..
(im still experimenting..,any findings will be updated here)
one of working gps on archos..
sorry for my bad english..
Tested bluetooth GPS receiver:
BT-359S (GlobalSat)
BT-359 (Globalsat)
TomTom MK-II
Hama bluetooth gps receiver
iBlutooth gps receiver
Jentro BT-gps-8
BTGP-38KM/65C
phone:-
Nexus One
Nokia N79
Htc Droid Eris
Tested Navigation software
iGO
NDrive
Oruxmaps
Google maps navigation
Yandex.Maps -Detailed maps of cities in Russia
Copilot
NavDroyd
Sygic Aura
you might need to install software like "bluetooth gps provider" or "Bluetooth GPS" on archos and something like "Bluetooth GPS Output" on your gps receiver (at market) or "GpsGate" for windows mobile (phone only).
I shared my Nexus Ones gps via bluetooth to my A43, it was very simple and worked with any program I used.
I did a search and had found some usb bluetooth receivers around $50-60, probably don't need anything special to get the job done.

I use an iBlutooth gps receiver and it works with google and Oruxmaps, no problem.
Check out Orux maps for use with aviation. He has PC software to import geo-referenced charts. It works great with charts from FAA Aeronav. It's one of the main things I bought my tablet for. I was using my phone in the cockpit.
see that

after the seconf news, archos add this possiblity in the firmware
I use my Nokia N79 as Internet bluetooth GPRS modem and GPS at once.

I used NDrive and Google Maps on my A43, I use Sygic Aura on my Nexus One (actually bought this one, it is really nice and in the general Android Apps & Games forum I started a thread of discount codes). Ndrive is a little more friendly to the resistive screen as its controls are larger and easier to hit.
Hi!
I use a Jentro BT-gps-8, works without any aditional software with Copilot, but have some Problems with the graphics if I turn the Archos 101 pad.
Maybe I make tomorow some screenshots of the display
regards
reporting, papago x5 failed on my archos..anyone successfully install papago x5 on archos tablet?
On the Archos: Bluetooth GPS by Googoo Android.
On my phone (an Eris): Bluetooth GPS Output by Meowsbox.
Both are free on the market, but "output" is limited to 10 minutes. If it works, its only about $1.60 for the full version.
Turn on bt on both devices, start output on phone, then start the one on the Archos. Pair and connect. Once you start seeing the readings on the Archos, you can start Google Maps and navigate! Google Maps will kick you to the settings to choose "choose bluetooth gps".
Enjoy!
I use a bt-359 gps connected with bluetooth to my A70. Found it on ebay for 7 euro and it works perfect!

Papago X5 failed on my 101 as well, but NavDroyd and Sygic Aura work like charm.
A101 + BTGP-38KM/65C from http://www.dealextreme.com/p/65-cha...king-bluetooth-gps-receiver-data-logger-26337
Globalsat bt-359 is a nice size, works well and is the best GPS I have ever used.
I use my wm phone MWG Zinc II as the gps receiver, the wm phone install the app gpsgate to become a bluetooth gps receiver, then use google map in archos to connect to the wm phone through the bluetooth.

Did the same thing with my old Omnia...using GPS2Blue...works with CoPilot, Google navigation & Sygic Aura (only 3 tested so far...
Tried phone but takes longer to fix, much worse sensativity in bad signal areas.
Plus I want phone for tethering sometimes
The bt-359 is amazing. Seconds to fix (warm start) indoors (none of my other GPS devices work in house). Also worked in a city, in car with coated windscreen with GPS just chucked in pocket down beside gearstick (also dropped in same location on another car the other day it didn't loose signal once).
Superb is the word for it
NExus one BT cannot pair?
I'm trying to test using my Nexus One's GPS
I can't even connect. I can pair the devices but thats it, its not actually connected. If I long press on the nexus one device entry the only option that comes up is unpair. Anyone else get this?
Its identical if I try it from Archos to Nexus one i.e. the N1 has paired with the archos, but there is no option to connect.
N1 running 2.2 stock
Archos running 2.1.08 stock

It will keep saying that connect but not fair until you start your GPS software if you configure the GPS correctly.

[Q] Offline navigation for iconia a501

Hi,
I'a going to buy an Acer Iconia a501 tab.
But I want to know is there some offline navigation software for this screen resolution? If yes, could You post names of supported softwares ?
Thanks a lot
Google Maps will now cache maps (a 10km radius of any points you specify) so you don't need an active 3G connection. Look in the Labs settings on Maps.
But if that still doesn't suit you could try TomTom or something? I'm sure that will be on the market or similar. Maybe something from Garmin?
For sure there are Copilot and Navigon on the market.
Inviato dal mio A501 usando Tapatalk
Sygic Aura, you can download the maps.
I have a A500 and sygic worked for about 3 days than all of the sudden it simpli exits at the connecting screen. Any ideas on how to fix this? Is it because of the last update?
L.E Solved it, it crashes if I have wifi on, without wifi, works like a charm... I reccomend sygic, it's blazing fast on a500
