Honeycomb has been ported to the Desire HD! Proof and download link below!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=959324
Is there any chance a dev could port this rom over for the Nexus S, not looking for it to be fully functional but would be good to play around with!

It should be, other DEV sections have [REQ] [THINK TANK]
Devs dont go looking in general section. And pretty much if they get moved there they will be overlooked.
But OP should change headline its little missleading

I would LOVE to try out HoneyComb on the Nexus S
I have posted here because it is development based, it isnt general information about the Nexus S, however i realised the title was misleading and have changed it! I hope this gets a lot of devs attention and someone much more able than myself manages to build a ROM!
I agree, I'd love to see it soon.
i would definitely give this an install if it gets ported
+1, I would love a honeycomb port as well.
I think the first step to get it to boot would be to make a boot.img with the ramdisk and kernel provided in the sdk..
Sent from my Nexus S
Yeah, I'd love to see this port also, Honeycomb seems really cool from the videos I've seen for far, it'd be awesome to have it running on my Nexus S
Iv also heard its been ported to the EVO 4G, really hopped MODs would have left this in the DEV section so it actually got noticed by the people with the ability to do something about it!
They should have left this in the developer section
Do none of the developers read the general section at all?
Honeycomb sdk port now available for the Nexus One

Wait 4 days until they asop 3.0 and it'll be easier.

You're probably right. Dollars to donuts one of our amazing devs will cook up a honeycomb ROM soon.
I don't see the point in HC on phones, if its aimed at Tablets with its UI interfaces and large Graphics, whats the point in having those OSK Arrows e.c.t
The only cool thing in HC is those animated backgrounds, apart from that thats it really.
I'd Rather see 2.3.3 running so we can mess about with NFC's and such, or 2.4 in late march.

The point is "waste time".
Everybody can see that the Honeycomb UI isn't good for smartphones.
id like to see it on nexus S :3
I really hope someone ports this soon. I'm pretty excited to just mess around with honeycomb even if its only an early version.
Is you're also waiting for a100 - look here: http://www.tabletowo.pl/2011/05/17/exclusive-acer-iconia-tab-a100-wycofany-z-produkcji/ (english ver. below).
I think it would be best not to post non a500 staff in here. For a moment I thought you were refering to the A 500.

If I recall correctly, when this forum was setup, the mods said it would be home to both the A100 and A500.
Back to the OP though, apparently it is delayed, not cancelled. Shame, becayse I was looking forward to pocketable honeycomb!
Regards,
Dave
I was so happy that I finally got my 3.1 update last week for my iconia but 3.2 is ready to come out in a few days... Hopefully we will get this update sooner this time.

From what I read online 3.2 is suppose to be a version optimized for 7 inch tablets and the Icecream Sandwich 4.0 will be release in the 4th quarter of the the year for all tablets.
Nevermind... it will be ported for sure. Heheh
Based on Acers history, do you think there is much of a chance we will even officially see a android 4 (ICS) release for the A500?

Bet you fifty bucks we get it from the devs here LONG before we get it from Acer.
Google have said that ICS will be open-source, so that's the point where you'll start seeing some real innovation in tablet ROMs. At the moment the custom ROMs are nice, but it's largely tinkering around the edges + new kernels. ICS will change that.
So I wouldn't worry too much about Acer bringing it to the A500 - someone will, and it'll be better than Acer would have done it.
Moved as not development, please read the rules and post in the correct section ONLY.
Besides, just wondering why are you posting XOOM news in Acer A500 forum ?

I thought this was the general section where you can post anything "general" that would have to do with the A500. I just think the OP was giving us a heads up on 3.2 is all.

Actually it is about development, whats the difference between this and other post in development just mentioning about 3.1. And I did not post it about the Xoom, I was just showing everyone that 3.2 can be expected in a few months, or years lol, for the iconia.

You get those types on any forums, not just this one. Support forums tend to be worse because there is a lot of the same questions being asked over and over and it tends to build up animosity and resentment among the people who've been around for a while. There is really nothing you can do except add a disclaimer with every post, explaining how you've exhausted every other option prior to posting. There will always be the crowd that feels posting on a support forum should be a last resort, to be used only after every other resource has been drawn upon. I've seen that iron-fisted approach turn some boards into vacant wastelands. In comparison, it's really not that bad here...for now.
Back on topic: I think the original poster was posting a seemingly Xoom topic on an A500 board because there a lot of A500 owners still wondering if they made the right purchase and look to compare the two. I speak as an A500 owner when I say that if a new patch comes out, and the Xoom gets it first, I damn well want to know about it.
Cheers,
-PW

There is a reason Thors rom has not been posted on XDA. I'm sure that a MOD will be here soon and you will find out why tegraowners rom has not been posted here.

You forgot to read the XDA rules about posting links to Non-GPL/Warez.
last time I checked roms, android , linux in general is not warez so get back on your high horse and leave the thread... go be jealous somewhere else...

No, but kernels are. Without having to quote GPL, which I am sure you can read yourself, any changes made to the kernel, must have the source code available to the public.
Thor, does not release his kernel source, therefor, his kernel is non-GPL compliant. As such, he is not allowed to post his roms containing his kernel on XDA. And, as it is a link directly to his non-compliant rom, links are thus not allowed.
For somebody who has only 12 posts, clearly you haven't been around very long, or you can't read very well.
And no, I am not jealous. His rom doesn't work well on a 501 as we all know, so nothing to be jealous about. And... I don't own a horse
Considering you're low post count, you simply have not seen the other threads around here regarding Thor's ROMs, so I will respectfully just say that this thread is going to be deleted whether we're on a high horse or not. And I know this likely will spill out into another argument over the knowledge and interpretation of GPL rules, but your generalization of how they work is way off.
I looked over all roms here no one has any sources so.... why comment?
plus none of the roms come even close to this one...

We're not attacking you for defending Thor's ROMs, many would agree that they are good ones, but the debate over if what he is doing violates XDA rules has been beaten to death here. Those that do not offer the source are because they are based off of another ROM, and if you go to that ROMs main thread, there sources are generally there.
FLEXREAPER by Civato take this for example says "Tweaked kernel" so not stock and no sources... no one is trolling there... guess favoritism runs wild here...
Closing thread
It was funny at first, but seems the lag from the Asus 300 getting a thread and the A510 folks is standing out, especially since the A510 was released first. I am surprised the A500 folks have not tried to evict us.
Added: For perspective, the gosh awful VS Gtablet got a thread. I still have my Gtablet... not sure if that is a good thing. I was not cold enough to try and sell it to somebody- not that cruel.
So what are you crying about, the A501 hasn't got its own forum either... We share too...

Bump for a great idea - separate section for A510
Yes... bumping in support
Sent from my A510 using Tapatalk 2
The most important discussions about a tablet occur when its first released. By the time there is an a510 forum, most of the relevant info will be burried on one insanely long thread under the wrong device as it is now, or located on another website altogether.
Personally, I think it should have been up and running on the day of release, if XDA really wants to be on the cutting edge. Otherwise it ceases to be a resource for early adopters, which I belive is a very large percentage of the XDA audience.
Of course, the sad truth may be that, tablets are not considered a priority here. Instead smart phones are given all the attention because they have the largest market share ie most users. Thats a judgement call as to where to put the most resources. Maybe we need two XDA websites: XDA Phone and XDA Tablet!
