do you think the desire z will get an official update to sense 3.0?
Probably will not becouse our ram is not 768mb like desire s.
are we still in the 18 months for updates though?
But this is Sense UI so HTC has no obligation to give a 3.0 update, but I hope and believe they will give us an update like Desire S too
donno
HTC's new entry level phone, Explorer will have 384 Mb of RAM.
It is coming with Sense 3.5, which could be higher in version number yet weaker in features, but if not so, memory may not be an issue.
There are ports, well, ROMs with sense 3.0 and the phone copes with it quite well.
Not the smoothest, but what the heck.
Noone knows if HTC will give a damn about bringing Sense 3.0 to DZ.
But Exproler doesn't even have the 3D page scrolling feature
Surelywe shouldget some for of anupdate with the 18 month dealio with google. Perhaps icecreamsandwich?

HTC Turkey mentioned a few weeks ago that desire z will receive a sense 3.0 update with android 2.3.5
Here is a list of mentioned phones from htc turkey:
1. Incredible S
2. Desire S
3. Wildfire S
4. Desire HD
5. Desire Z
It is pretty safe that this phones will get a sense 3.0 with android 2.3.5 update soon.
lets hope so anyway!

I'd love to see an update, though I hope HTC will do it properly this time and Sense won't be restarting all the time.
Or maybe we'll get Sense 3.5 with ICS? That'd be awesome.
I don't think so. Sense launcher restart all the time after 2.3.3(with Sense 2.1). Sense 3.0 use more RAM than Sense 2.1.
If that update with Sense 3.5 will be nice.
Seein as there was that deal with google and 18 months, i think we will get ICS, and probably sense 3.5, as our devices would handle it.

Good news for all Desire Z owners.
In the last weeks it got still about a sense 3.0 update.
On a question regarding a sense 3.0 update you got everytime the same answer, that they didn't know anything.
today that changed completely.
HTC DACH indirectly announced that something will come to the desire z.
On a question regarding the Sense 3.0 Update for the Desire Z they said:
"Noch ein wenig Geduld bitte. Ich glaube das lohnt sich, ohne zu viel verraten zu wollen "
That means in english:
"A little more patience please. I think it's worth it. Without revealing to much "
I think a update is now very likely.
Maybe even a Sense 3.5 Update.
Lets wait and see
In its official blog, HTC removed from the list of applicants for renewal Desire Z.
Technically Desire Z is capable of supporting Android 4.x easily.
The problem may occur only with the support of corporate interface Sense.
I use a custom ROM with Sense 3.5. Sense 3.5 uses about 70 Mb of RAM. (For comparison, Sehse 2.x uses about 30Mb).
In Memory of Desire Z is not enough to support multi-tasking with Sense 3.5. Solves the problem swap only.
But HTC promised to have declared, and update their devices during the time. This time has not expired for Desire Z. To fulfill its promise of support, HTC would have to develop a special version of Sense for Desire Z. It seems that now they decide that it would cost them less: development Update for Desire Z or the promise of non-support.
Let's see what will come from HTC to the Z. Till then I'm very happy with Virtuous team Trentacinque Beta 2 rom, Sense 3.5 running fine with swap.

On the other hand, we have the HTC Explorer with 512MB RAM, which also has Sense 3.5. So I guess HTC will develop a "lite" version of Sense 3.5 for budget devices.

Is wildfire getting the new sense ui v3.0 ?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Probably not.
The Sense 3.0 UI is on Wildfire S because the S has a more powerful processor and GPU.
Officially, certainly not. Unofficially, danne_jo, te creator of Wildpuzzle ported the new Sense but unfortunately it doesnt work. The view is that the new Sense requires a newer processor than what the Wildfire has. Still, this is unconfirmed though.
The new sense is made for more recent hardware, but it can denfinily work on our wildfires. The hardware is just OK.
The current Sense on the wildfire is slow and sluggish.
I don't see the new and graphically improved one running any better,
can be port? wildfire s have that. I thınk sense 3.0 work on our wildfires they have enough hardware.
time to get a new phone methinks!
maybe on wildfire s, but probably not on our wildfire
i don't think there will be official one since wildfire s launch. the old phone still compete with new gen wildfire will be bad idea for a company.
pray that danne_jo will give us brighter hope.

Wildfire S has already the new Sense.
HTC have proven that they will listen to the community by announcing future unlocked bootloaders.
Having just had a play with a Sensation I do like the look and operation of Sense 3.0. I know there are custom Roms ported from 3.0 but what I really want is an official upgrade. My DesireHD is plenty fast enough at the moment so I don't want to shell out big money for a dual core handset just to get Sense 3.0.
So perhaps HTC could prove they love us for more than 6 months (normal product cycle) by producing a Sense 3.0 for their handsets that are up to it AND unlock the bootloader at the same time. If enough people think so maybe just maybe we will be heard.
They already stated that they wouldn't be providing any sense 2.1 handsets with a sense 3.0 upgrade.

They also locked the bootloaders. And said no GB for the Desire. If enough customers want it and make it known, then maybe they could spare someone to produce a port of 3.0 for the lower res screens.
My OTA update to 2.3.3 and Sense 2.1 went without a hitch (so far so good).
I had fun trying all sorts of ROMs on my Hero (and still do) but the DesireHD is 'mission critical' and I need it to all work all the time. I am in awe of the skills of the ROM cooks but sometimes the product still comes out half baked.
HTC will *NOT* sacrifice user experience for new features (if any). Don't forget that Sense 3.0 came with the dual core Sensation. Yes, it can be made to work good-ish but you'll never see HTC overclocking their phones. Unlocking the bootloader does no damage to HTC (especially if it voids the warranty) so they did it. This has nothing to do with Sense 3.0 - we are more likely in the position of the Desire users: GB can run on their phones but it doesn't meet the performance standards of HTC. So no official GB for them... and no Sense 3.0 for us...

Half baked you said. There are more than 8 stable, more faster and smoother roms for DHD here including 2 powerful roms with full sense 3.0 support. Check the threads, hardly a discussion about a bug anymore just themes, rosie and what not.

nochance of that happening as the first poster said, im currently using RcMix3D 1.9 which the dark v3 patch which is sense 3.0 and its wikked i love it, ive tried all the roms on here and this is the best
recently i bought dhd unfortunately by mistake up dated the machine, now i can not go for sense 3.0. a,m about to got rid of the machine if will remain on sense 2
any help from XDA .
I think its HTC marketing strategy. They may think that now one would buy the Sensation or Evo 3d if some of the older Phones had 3.0.
But if you watch the videos how poorly Sense 3.0 runs on the Sensation maybe their honest with the performance and they can´t make a smooth runnig Sense 3.0 update for the DHD.
Don´t know wich is worse but you´ll have to flash a custom rom if you want Sense 3.0.

True. Everyone has his own feel over how thinks should work. I had the chance to buy a brand new Sensation, so I decided to compare it with my DHD running LeeDroid with Sense 3.0 port. Can You guess which one is laggier and slower? Surprise, surprise it's the Sensation. Even though the CPU is 0,2 GHz faster and a dual core, it seems as if the two cores are not syncronised and do not use the RAM in the best possible way. Sure for multithreaded apps the Sensation is faster, but how many of those are out there? And the heat. They say DHD has a overheating problem... Try using a Sensation or a SGS II for more than 30 minutes. They'll burn your hand I bet the next HTC will be 1,5 GHz and will be called the Untouchable (LMAO)
Hi all,
Leaked a photo of a new HTC lower end device named: HTC Pico
Topic Here
What is interesting in the specs of this new device is the new Sense UI named: HTC Sense Zero with Gingerbread. which may be a streamlined version of the Sense UI designed for lower-end devices.
This gave me hope that we may have HTC Sense Zero with Gingerbread 2.3.3 for our poor HTC wildfire.
Do you think this could happen: Wildfire with 2.3.3 + Sense Zero ??
any information, could be interesting!
It has an HVGA display similar to the Wildfire S.Still...fingers crossed. If they ported sense 2.1 everything is possible

I would rather wait for the device to be released (Or atleast the ROM of the device to be leaked) than jump to conclusions at this very early stage. The hardware seems to be same compared to the Wildfire S, and, it would seem unlikely HTC would release a new version of Sense for it, when Sense 2.1 works fine on the Wildfire S.
I'd love to use the Sense zero on my MT3GS
HTC didn't announce ICS update, despite its brothers getting it.
We assumed it was hardware limitations with the smaller RAM (512mb)
But now HTC have announced the new HTC One V with ICS and Sense 3.6/4.0.
And guess what? It only has 512mb aswell.
So RAM can't be the issue. Maybe CPU power?

I think Nospin is right; commitment to the development of Android varies among different manufacturers. Commitment to profit does not. There is limited upside to them providing an upgrade. Chances are, we'll still purchase the next HTC phone when we get the money and/or discounted price with contract from our carriers, despite them choosing not to upgrade our phones. In other words, why provide us with an additional free service, when they're going to get our money in the future anyway. In fact, providing the upgrade might *deter* us from buying their latest and greatest.

But I hope so, we will get custom ICS from HTC ONE V. I think it will be brilliant
I don't think the desire z will get a OTA update either. I think they plan it this way so that we have to upgrade and won't be content on sticking it out with our old devices. Either way the desire z will get ICS from cm9 most likely. It's taken longer then I wanted but I know it's in the works.
Just use Andromadus. I know it's not official, but you can rock it now. Which counts for a lot.

If this was Samsung, then I would agree with the Desire Z getting ICS. However HTC has already given us an unlocked bootloader as well as the source code for the Desire Z. There's no need for HTC to get involved anymore. This is exactly why places like XDA are important to the rest of us who "knows" our devices are still kicking strong because then we can just do the work ourselves. And besides, even if Desire Z does get an ICS update: the majority of us will still prefer Custom ROMs anyways. This way, everybody wins. HTC maintains a healthy reputation with us and we get to save some money.
heh, by "we", I mean the talented devs that still support our devices. I'm personally useless.

I agree, I think there would be two benefits of having ICS come officially to Desire Z / G2. First would be that that ROM would be a lot easier to modify and tinker with by the dev's then what they are working with currently. The second benefit would be in the form of less people asking for eta's on cm9. I would rather use a custom version of a rom than a stock rom, but the same doesn't go for everybody. I bet a lot of the traffic on xda is people just wanting ICS on their device period.

Hum, that's good!
Does anyone think that we can get HTC one V port? Coz the spec almost similar to our device, hopefully we can get ICS with sense 4.0 rom soon.
So impatient... The device hasn't even hit the market yet.
And considering how active the g2/dz dev community is, I wouldn't be surprised to see it not too long after the rom gets released.
Don't upset the dev's!
I've tried different 4.0 ROM's and while they are awesome, they are not even what I would considered "fit" for everyday use. 4.0 itself is still new, I think we're lucky to just have that so far. But as far as Sense on top of ICS? I think it's a stretch, for the time being. I would rather see just effort going towards perfecting the stock 4.0 for G2/Desire Z, rather then have the dev's effort split and trying to do that as well. I'm not a developer myself, it doesn't sound like you are either but if you want that port any time soon, might as well get working on it
It would be very interesting to know what CPU is in the One V. Let's hope it uses the same as the Desire HD, then it should be straightforward to port.
Having said that, the Desire S and DHD will be getting official ICS ports anyway, so it's a matter of "when" rather than "if" for us.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but according to this web site:
http://www.geeksailor.com/htc-one-x-htc-one-v-htc-one-s/
The HTC one V have a snapdragon S2 chipset.
Which led me to this table:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snapdragon_(system_on_chip)
With 1 GHz, there is only one chipset, the MSM8255.
The same as the Desire HD!!!
Also, I've just done another search with Google and I got this page:
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=3382&c=htc_one_v
Look for the processor: the MSM8255!!!
So maybe the port will be a lot more easier than before.
Edit: It looks smooth:

I am more concerned about the 512 RAM in HTC One V making it more similar to the DZ. (I though it is dual-core, but no)
If the V handles ICS WITH(!) Sense our DZ's would easily handle stock ICS (as talked about in other threads) in my opinion.
We'll be one of the first to know about it... HERE...
Can't wait to see that happen...

As far as i know, which could be all wrong, the V comes with ICS, but with Sense 3.6 (kind of a light version of Sense 4) which is why it can handle both. Personally, i think the sense version it carries must be less resource consuming that 3.5 and 3.0 which would be reason for it being able to run with ICS
But in any case, im eager to see this ported!!
Unbelievable how HTC cheapened this out big time. Even Samsung's budget phones at MWC use S3 variants! But hey why complain if this would feed code to our G2's no?

According to http://www.htc.com/www/smartphones/htc-one-v/#specs
One V comes with Sense 4. I think that the difference between Sense 4 and Sense 3.6 will be ImageSense. Not some kind of light version.
Htc released a statement saying they realized sense is bloated now and is going to slim down))))

Would you mind explaining what ImageSense is ? Google shows something about a defunct design company.
Has the RUU been leaked yet? When it has or been officially released I'm gunna try port it

I would rather not have a FULL One V port, and have a One V with rotating rosie and the 3D task manager thingy.

ImageSense is HTC's version of camera software that allows the One Series of phones to take pictures in under a second. It also enables them to take still pictures WHILE recording in 720p. If i remember correctly, both Samsung and Motorola have their respective versions with similar capabilities as well.
EDIT:
Skip to about 1:20 of the video.

One V port
Before One V is released Sense 4.0 will be released for Sensation and other already existing devices. Porting from these will be easier than waiting for one V to release.
Port should work fine. Same RAM etc.

Sensation and Sensation XE is supposed to get ICS with Sense 3.5 (looks like for now) very soon. Not sure if they'll push Sense 4.0 to them yet though (haven't seen anything yet)
Once the RUU comes, the magic will start.
