When ever I set the any of the browser's (Dolphin HD, etc)UA to Desktop mode and open gmail, then whenever I select forward or reply nothing happens. Is there any way to resolve this.
Do you mean you're opening the GMail app, or GMail in the browser?

I am opening GMail in the Browser.
It does the same for me, but begs the question, why aren't you using the gmail app that comes with HC?

It is because I need to edit certain details in the forwarded mails, which cannot be done by the Gmail app or the stock email app that comes with the Tab

What this 'gmail app' does? Just curious. Is it a mail application?
what gmail app...i already have my gmail account set up through outlook on my 8525 to auto sync...why would you need an app...

Gmail allows you to link all your various e-mail accounts together and view them as one instead of logging into several accounts or inboxes. Those with data contracts wll likely have no dificulties using gmail on the go. However, it seems many folk cannot connect if they are using a pre-paid or payg account with their telecom provider. For these people you currently have a Java Applet version, wifi when available, or logging in via the browser (expensive). Hence the need for an application that gives the same look and functionality as that enjoyed by data conacted folk.Mike

So my question is, "then I should be able to get all my email using the pocket outlook configured to this gmail account right?"
the gmail app that I am refering to is a small client that allows for gmail to push messages to your handheld device. I used it on my Blackberry and it was great. I had heard that google was going to eventually release the same type of client for PPC. Also, I use google apps so I do not have a gmail account. i have a [email protected] account that uses gmail.

because the pop3 sync is hard on the battery. (unless you accept the defaults to sync every 2 hours.) the gmail app is not hard on the battery. at least it wasn't on the Blackberry.
I'd like to know this as well.. I hardly use the gmail java midlet because it just isnt too great. If they had a native app like google maps or something, then I'm sure they can make it much better.

That's the theory - try it out on the PC

Have you considered logging into gmail, using the help function there, and then asking google this question? Seems they'd be the ones to know, not us.
You could even inform everyone here about what their response is after you do so.
Having probem with hotmail, using web browser instead of mail client since last night the log in page when downloaded is completely blank. Been like this since last night. Have tried clearing cache and history, rebooted phone also, but still same. Anyone else had this problem?

On your phone, manually enter the website http://mobile.live.com
That should bring you to the new version of the hotmail site.
I just tried the new hotmail website using dolphin browser, nice, it allows me to dl the attachment now.

same problem here
You can now forward your hotmail to any email address. I have mine forwarded to my gmail account and use gmail to read/reply. Works awesome.
I still don't understand why you aren't all using the mail app to sync with your Hotmail account.. I do ... and it works fine.

If I use the mail app to sync my hotmail account, it can only sync every 5 minutes. With Gmail, it is almost instantaneous (like push email).
I will get my hotmail email faster via forwarding to my gmail account that having the mail app check every 5 minutes.
That is why I do it via Gmail.

Actually, it does but only on Windows Mobile devices. I used to have push with hotmail and Exchange at the same time with Windows Mobile.

Guess its just not supported for android then
Why is there no hotmail widget for android? The mail app/widget we have is not of much help. I can't see the folders I have created and neither does it sync properly.
After reading mails on phone, it will be unread and if I delete it here on the phone, it will still be there when I use the web version. Any solution?

Can anyone specify the differences between the two apps? After first getting my Xoom I was noticing that I was getting multiple alerts for the same emails... after doing some digging i realized that both the Stock Mail app and Gmail were notifying me in separate instances (assuming Gmail app was pushing to the Xoom and the Stock Mail app was fetching every 15 minutes - hence 2 notifications).
I noticed that the Gmail app also allows search, so both search and push are included in the Gmail app. Are there any other true differences between the two?

Labels, folders, archives and starring all work in the gmail app. I don't use priority inbox, but I believe that works too.
But...why would you set up the stock email app for your gmail?

I must have done it during the initial set up - I guess my question would be, why wouldn't you set up your Gmail through the Stock Mail App?

The Stock Mail App only has generic features that would work on most email platforms that you bring to it. If you have a GMail account you would want to use the GMail app because you can take advantage of the Gmail features, Search, Labels, Priority Box, and I'm pretty certain the Push is only for Gmail App which means your Stock Mail app periodically checks to a designated time but the GMail App gets mail pushed to it as it is received.
I import all of my other email accounts into gmail and give each a label which the Xoom handles beautifully. I'm not sure I knew there was a stock email app..lol
The other big difference is that the stock client does not allow you to chose the from address, it wont event reply from the address that was sent to
I use multiple mail address aliases and need to be able to reply from all of them but can't.

Perfect... I thought it would make more sense to use the stock app, but it appears I'm mistaken! Thanks for the help.
Guys after installing the 21.02 update of the official hotmail app My N4 don't go in deep sleep if I have push notification active in it. Do you have the same problem?
Anyone with the apk of previous version?

I had that issue with the hotmail app and ended up doing some research on this a little while ago. Now I have the stock Android email app configured to Hotmail's active exchange server for push mail. 2 weeks in, no issues.

Push Hotmail
If you want push Hotmail, I highly recommend you use the stock android email app. Open the stock email app, start a new account, enter your Hot mail account and password, but instead clicking next, click Manual Setup. Click exchange. In the Domain/username tap there and put your full email a dress it it. Make sure to retain the slash before it. Keep the password section the same. For the server, delete the whole thing and enter "m.hotmail.com" scroll all the way down and click next. TADA!! Push hotmail without any third party app.
Note, this works with Hotmail, Live, and Outlook. The email address in the Domain/username accepts @Hot mail, @Live, or @Outlook! The server stays the same though. Google knows how to write their apps properly.
Sure Hotmail app has been update but thanks to Microsoft after this problem I have setted up the default email app and is great for hotmail.
I was going to configure it even on gmail but i don't understand why on hotmail it has push notification and with gmail only check in X min.
Btw deleted hotmail app.

I'm just using the default configuration that as server has dub-m.hotmail.com. ATM I don's see any problem using dub server. Why do you suggest the manual setup? Is it there any problem that i haven't seen yet?

Gmail does not allow push mail with apps anymore. They removed it as of Janurary 30, 2013 - first announced in December 2012. The only app that can do push mail is the Android gmail app, and not even outlook can do it.
