I´m a UK user and my A500 is at version 3.01 using build Acer_A500_1.016.05_COM_GEN1 .
I tried to update to 3.1 using file Acer_A500_4.010.38_COM_GEN1.zip from the xda list supplied by member vache and followed the instructions there to flash the file using the standard recovery procedure. It started to load OK from the external SD card, listing update text messages on the screen but then it stopped loading after just a couple of seconds and displayed the android figure with a triangle containing an exclamation mark (!). I then managed to restart the tablet and got back into version 3.01.
Does anyone have any ideas if I did something wrong in the procedure ?
Thanks

Was the file decrypted first, or not?
Trying to update to 3.1
Member vache said files from him were already decrypted, or so I thought. Anyway, I've tried to locate the Acer decrypter program but cannot find it. If I can find the decrypter I'll try that. Can anyone point me to it please ?
Thanks

Can anyone help me with my a500,i have a stock 3.1 i update ota 3.2,but i have see that for 3.2 no root avaible and I tried to go back to 3.1 with this rom Acer_A500_0.000.00_1.016.02_COM_GEN1 now the a500 is bricked and if i turn on it i have this text "boot verified falied" please help me
I had this going last night... really honked me off. Turns out they changed the book code a bit so you cant go back.
IF your hard set on going back there is the unbrick method all over the internet but of course it will kill all your data.
OR just goto the updtes/OTA thread here and get the 3.2 update file and pop it on your SDcard and then boot up and reflash the current (not loosing data) and your system will post fine.

Hi my friend i have other 2 question ,waht file i have download and after download i extract update.zip and put on micro sd?The use the stock cwm?
Well I used: Acer_A500_4.010.38_7.006.01_COM_GEN1 and I am thinking the file was already decrypted so was just a matter of renaming it to update.zip and putting it on the sdcard and booting to recovery.
Need help tried to downgrade my Acer A501 with HC3.2 factory installed. As soon as I did the next time I tried to reboot it shows the acer logo and in the top corner says boot verified failed. I have not been able to get it running again. I have tried several different things with no luck. Any help would be awesome. Thanks
You can unlock your A501 with this file
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4CWLBDDN
Then install the 3.01 for A501
http://vache-android.com/v1/download.php?fileID=76
then make the root
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138228&highlight=iconiaroot
sorry if I have forgotten a step, if you have problems ...... well ask
when install the 3.0.1 I get the boot verified problem again. I got it running with a different HC3.2 if the matters. Still would like to root
So ... I thought back to how I did with the same problem.
The first step is correct ....
You can unlock your A501 with this file
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4CWLBDDN
Then you have to use this guide to load the 3.01
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1276227&highlight=downgrade+3+2
But using this file
http://www.uploadhere.com/4HNOF2RC6Q
then make the root
All file shares are down...
Can someone please provide the tool to unbrick the A501 somewhere, where it really can be downloaded... I really need this file... It's urgent!!!
Seems as if the whole file sharer fraction starts to shiver due to the megaupload issue
I'm uploading the file, stay tuned
....................
What is the status of your tablet, turn on, do not turn on ....
If turn on follow the guide , if do not turn on, hold down the power button until you hear the vibration, start the program that I'm uploading, when he tells you to connect your tablet do it, you wait and a window will appear, follow the instructions.
Good luck ....
P.S. sorry but the uploading is very slow

What file are you looking for exactly????
Hi All,
So I'm tired of my stock 3.2.1 flipping between the "Your Device is Up to Date" and "Poor Network Coverage" messages when checking for the ICS update.
I current have:
Acer_A500_7.014.14_COM_GEN1
Through this wonderful forum, I downloaded:
Acer_A500_7.014.14_041.203.01_COM_GEN1_1333444737199_8ec8b991.zip
I found out it was encrypted, so I downloaded the Acer decrypting tool and unzipped it.
So with that said, I have a few questions:
1) Will this release of ICS work with my current device?
2) If yes, how do I update my stock 3.2.1 to ICS? Do I need to root it before I can update it, or can I simply copy the update to an SD/USB Stick and update from there?
3) Do I need to decrypt the install, or can I use the encrypted version?
Or should I simply stop being so damn impatient and just wait for the OTA?
Thanks.
Have you been back to the Market (Play Store) and installed the recent Enhancement Update to the Acer Update Readiness Tool? Should allow you to connect to those "lazy" servers.
Hello,
I just did the manual install to ICS myself that way:
1) dowload the ICS update you mentionned
2) decrypt the zip with the acer decrypt tool
3) only extract the update.zip in the decripted zip to the root of the external sd
4) shutdown the tablet and restart it pressing both power + volume dow button which start the update automatically
Ps: a good thing is that this update does not wipe existing intalled apps or existing data
Hope this helps
is this the official ics rom update
Is this the official rom update to is?

Thanks.....I tried it, and the process appeared to start ok. But after about 30 seconds the Android robot showed up with an exclamation point in a triangle.
So maybe this update was not for my system. I guess I'll just be patient and wait for the OTA upgrade.
(and yes, I do have the tab enhancement installed in case anyone is wondering).

Forgot to mention, just before updating to ICS, i tried to use another 3.2 stock rom to see if OTA was working better, so maybe this update to the other 3.2 rom is also necessary. The 3.2 stock rom i've used is this one: Acer_A500_7.006.01_COM_GEN2 available in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113878
More info in my initial post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1622253
Good luck

*** FIXED!!!!!! ***
I found out the SD card type is VERY IMPORTANT!!!
When I initially tried to install the ICS update from a generic SD card I would get the robot / exclamation / triangle error (I was using a Patriot 8GB SDHC Class 4 card).
I then tried using a Sandisk 2GB MicroSD card - UPDATE SUCCESSFUL!
I didn't have to use a Stock 3.2.1 image or anything - I just went straight to 4.0.3.
My new build number is ACER_AV041_A500_1.031.00_WW_GEN1 with Android version 4.0.3 of ICS goodness.
Thanks to everyone who gave me ideas and who posted on other sites!
EDIT - So I installed it, but then I had the dreaded DHCP-Wifi reboot problem. I fixed it by doing a factory reset, and all is good.
scuba dont do it man

Decryter says many antivirus false positive. I turn off the antivirus to decrypt and turn it on again.
I tried to install a Jellybean ROM using CWM but it went into a boot loop so all I could do is take it back to 3.0.1 and now I can't find any stock Asus firmware to get it up to 3.1 so that I can then get it back up to ICS 4.0.3.
The Asus support site doesn't have old firmware anymore, if it does I can't find it.
Does anyone know where I can get a stock copy of 3.1?
Hi,
I think it should fix your problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1524302
Downloaded it and ran the download.bat file, the cmd screen opens and closes and nothing happens.
Anyone else have any suggestions?
I really need stock WW 3.0.1 firmware - help me Obe Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope :victory:

I tried with 7 and that's what happened.
I don't think nvflash work with G model
SOLVED
After trying just about every method under the sun, I had a brainwave!
I was Googling the old EP101 firmware and everywhere it was hosted it had been deleted (who would want it right?), so what I did was this...
Downloaded the current stock firmware from the Asus support site, renamed it to EP101_SDUPDATE.zip, put it on my MicroSD card, rebooted into recovery and it updated.
If at first you don't succeed, try and try again... Now to try another Jellybean ROM. Any suggestions? Please bear in mind I have a TF101G and not a TF101.
Dear members,
First of all, I'm searching several forum sites (such as tegraowners and others) but I couldn't find the answers, so I'd like to request help from here..
The problem is about my Acer Iconia A500 tablet.. I bought it from a friend by second hand.
It is only has in English version and I'd like to convert it to Turkish language..
As I seen, my Acer's firmware is currently: Acer_Av401_A500_RV05RC01_PA_CUS1
Build Number: Acer_AV041_A500_1.033.00_PA_CUS1
Kernel version: 2.6.39.4+
Android version: 4.0.3
and I read that this rom doesn't have Turkish language, so I must change it..
And I must say, I don't have the PC cable so if it is possible to flash via ext-sdcard, it'll be perfect..
*** Surprisingly, I noteiced that mini-usb connector cable is as same as my LG G2 connector cable, and when I connect it, my PC detect A500.. I think I can flash it by the cable way then... ***
I tried something such as:
Downloaded ...
Acer_AV041_A500_1.054.00_WW_GEN1-DEODEXED-FULLROOT.zip
Acer_AV041_A500_1.031.00_WW_GEN1-FULL-ROOT-DEODEXED.zip
Acer_AV041_A500_1.054.00_WW_GEN1-FULL-ROOT.zip
Acer_A500_1.031.00_WW_GEN1.zip
... files from several articles. And copy them (by one by) to ext-sdcard
with update.zip name. Then trying to boot with Volume(-)&Power buttons, it says update.zip found then
a green Android appears and starting to roll but immediately, this green android kills and an (!) symbol appears on it.
I tried all these flash files as the same method but everytime finished with the same result.
I find my serial number (via terminal emulator - dmesg command) and as I seen it's bootloader_ver=0.03.12-ICS (ICS bootloader??)..
Please suggest me, which rom must have I use for flashing update.zip method?
I actually doesn't need to be rooted, just need for Turkish language but if it is possible, rooting should be better..
Any help will be appreciated.. Thanks..
Wow! I think I've just made it
I've installed CWM Recovery first with APX Flasher..
Then take a Full backup via CWM (I know it becuase I'd used it in my Samsung phone before)..
After all, I've retry to install my previously downloaded WW_GEN1 rom..
It's worked ant it'is now supports Turkish
By the way, it is being downloaded it's system update from the net automatically but it's not installed successfully.. I think it's normal... Anyway it was not necessary also..
Thank you for your articles and informations..
