WM6.5.x Energy/Dutty's or Android SD/NAND build?
please guys this is not a WM vs Android thread just a qustion...
Well to be honest with you any WM 6.5 ROM is better for taking pictures and video as the camera is one of the main things that gives chiefs problems with NAND Android ROMe and WP7 ROMe as that is very common with ports from one device to another and because the HD2 was never meant to run Android or WP7. Android usually takes good pictures but some ROMs can not take what I call full screen pictures and the video is the same. WP7 ROMe have finally got the camera issues just about worked out but you usually have to install a fix for it after you flash the ROM. They also finally found a fix for the Sense 3.0 and higher ROMs now where they take pretty good pictures now, check the last 10 to 20 pages of the XDA Portal to find that fix.
Now having said that I have used a couple of NAND Android ROMs that took good pictures and video. Most of the MIUI ROMe took good pictures but check the ROM threEs for info on each individual ROM as other ROMs have a good functioning camera as well.
As far as camera is concerned, I had the best results with Gingerbread Nand for photos and WP7 Mango for videos.
Transfer and playback - Android wins over WP7 and Zune with its inane glitches and conversions, especially where video/movies are concerned. Music plays equally well on both, but Android gives you better players and options. But that is just my opinion, of course.
WM6.5 is not in the race for me. Not going back to it.
what about music player and video player?
i use hyperdroid cm7 the camera is nice but that's it JUST nice....

Just flashed my first NAND ROM a gingerbread version I believe. Holy **** is my first impression. Amazing. Question is with the camcorder.
Do some NAND builds have a fully functioning camcorder, (The one on my build is very choppy) or are they all the same regardless of build?
Aside from camcorder this build (wish I remembered atm.) Is perfect!
Thanks

I can't respond with much more knoweldge other then use regarding DFT's and CMLXGO, or whatever his user name is, roms. Both haave a working camcorder with no issue albiet no 720p recording. To my understanding there are no android builds for HD2 yet that support 720p recording.
Also camera quality and camcorder quality is amazing with both of these builds for a cell phone. I actualy bought this phone after seeing pictures from a stock HD2 from a friends phone at my wedding. Android carries true with the same functionality as winmo 6.5 in quality. Winmo 7 still leaves some to be desired though in both departments, but progress is fresh and young and I'm sure it will get better.
Ok I think you said that certain builds DO have a we'll functioning camcorder? I will try and find another build then.
Ideally still on gingerbread. Anyone have a particular Rom running gb with good functioning camcorder.

Yes. Sorry for not being so clear. The two builds I have used have a perfectly working camcorder.
As for a Gingerbread build? Try this one.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905060
I dabled with that one for a day or two but I prefer sense builds for my personal taste. If I remember correctly this rom has full camera functions.
Is their a sense version of gingerbread? do like sense but am enjoying the crap out if gb
I think I am on the build u posted but wont know for sure until I get back on PC.
I did see on that forum that can did work but only at low quality settings. Going to test that shortly.
I guess in general I want to make sure I'm getting the most of this hd2 . Just got it and coming from a tilt2.
Thanks for the help.

If you want a sense camcorder that syncs the videos and audio correctly, and has good quality, get a desire build. The desire hd/z builds don't sync the audio and video correctly, atleast for me.
Hi guys, I`ve just bought HTC HD2, and I`m tired of WinMobile, because my last 2 cell phones had WM. I was watching for SD android rom, but there are so many of them, I can`t pick. Maybe you can help me and give your advice. I need stable, fast android ROM, that has WORKING 3G / Data, Audio, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 720p PLAYBACK,Phone, Camera, Camcorder, GPS, USB Disk FUNCTIONS.
It would be perfect that it has Android market.
Looking forward to your advices
P.S , is there any threat of flashing Android Rom for the first time?
I am looking for the same thing, I've tried a few of the roms here on first page.
The one I liked most was the one from darkstone "darkstone SuperRAM FroYo v1.5" but it aint been updated since 18th december and is outdated and has security flaw, yet it worked perfect.
I could do all the things you said, and it was super fast, no lag, nothing bad.
All the newer ones dated march all have the SENSE thing, it sure makes it look nice and like your still in WinMo but theyr also MUCH slower and MUCH less responsive. Also many have trouble running games I could just install from market that ran with no trouble on the darkstone thing.
Of these I tried: "AmeriCanAndroid AOSP", "RAFDROID HD 4.1" and "BOYPPC")
So I will wait for responses here too ^^
(Regarding the slow sense thing, maybe its possible to disable it somewhere, beyond my knowledge how to though)
these are my favorite SD builds, all the stuff you mention seems to work for me.

the second one is a chinese port of a great ROM with an iPhone feel to it, it's quite fast and awesome.
No, there is no harm in flashing an Android ROM to NAND, it actually flashes over MAGLDR which is a bootloader than flashes over HSPL, this basically means no matter what you flash Android-wise can be undone very easily with no risk.

See my comparison chart: http://bit.ly/hUCNww for SD builds. Suggest Darkstone SuperRAM (v1.5 or Sense v0.1). I have not found one build that beats these - please speak up if any of you found a better one - SD or NAND.
I find coredroid (nand for all leo versions), to be very stable and fast with a good battery life, Over the past 2 weeks no lock ups everything works, the odd tweak is required but its well worth looking into
Whats good as far as ROM's. Do all features work? Idc about GPS, I dont use it. As far as camera, etc. Im always flashing android ROMs on my current and past phones and enjoy it. Some have dumb things like camera doesn't work, etc. How reliable is Android on an HD2? Same with Win7 if anyone here knows... Any info in regards to functionality/reliability would be greatly appreciated!!!
I'm a US Tmobile user if that matters at all...
Android works perfectly on most Roms and have everything working. Camera, LED's, etc. I haven't used wp7 much basically since the beginning but it was pretty buggy. The camera will play 720 video just won't record in it. I personally use typhoons cm7 rom it's great, the battery okay (could be better in my opinion) but that has a lot to do with my data usage.
Android everything works, except 720p recording. Well atleast for some roms everything works. E.g. Gingerbread sense are still in beta.
Most builds however, give a list of what's working and what not anyways.
WP7 is said to work as good as any other WP7 phone. I can't compare since i've never played around with a WP7 phone but I can say it is damn smooth. Everything works save for no proper auto focus in camera, or proper focus really.
Thanks! I think Android would be a better route for me.

Hello Folks,
Right now I'm using wildfire, but I don't like it any more. I'm planning to switch to HTC HD2. how good is it ?
More over I'm no more impressed with Windows Operating system available in it (W 6.5). I have gone through some positive replies and videos on HD2 running Android 2.3 (Ginger Bread). So please help me out to find which ROM will be fast good enough with less issues to use on HD2.....
I'll be waiting for your valuable replies !
Thanks in advance

Android runs perfectly without any performance issues for a longer time now.
There are a lot of roms in the Hd2 Android-nand section which are running without any bugs.
Which fits to you you have decide yourself.
I would recommend you to have a look at typoon(look at my sig), hyperdroid and nexusHD2..think thats a good start to begin with.
you would be best off getting a native android device
If you want a dualboot system with a SD-card-Android, than look here:

Go for a native android device
Of course there are some nice Android builds for HD2. BUT, nothing is perfect. For example I have these two issues that are not solved in any build.
1. The speaker volume (ringtones, notifications, music) is very low on android compared to windows mobile.
2. Whenever you press the wake up button the screen comes up only after 1 or 2 seconds.
So there are some issues like these. So better go for a native Android device.
I would have to second Pongsters Hyperdroid CM7 newest build. The only thing you need to do is replace the stock camera with another. Like the MIUI camera or the LG camera.

At the moment, i am very impressed by MccMBoxmaX GS V6.0 [Desire S] Gingerbread 2.3.3 [Sense 2.1+3.0]. The whole hardware of my HD2 seems to work as it has to do. Runs quick and smooth without lags from a class 6 SD-Card.

These issues are solved in some roms:
The sound is related to /system/lib/libaudio.so & /system/etc/firmware/default.acdb
I forget what the wake up lag is related to (Sensors lib i beleive)
I use a personally modded version of CyanogenMod-7 to run on my HD2 and don't suffer from your problems!
It does depend which rom you are using but you should be able to patch/replace those files!
Hope this helps

Hi....
In my opinion the graphic glitches are annoying in current gingerbread roms (as much as I experienced)... I use Desire DL roms from SD, but I'm looking for a relatively bug-free rom with htc-sense to flash instead of WM 6.5 and run android directly.... I'll be honored if someone could recommend me a rom, running as fast as possibe with least bugs, and specially without delay after installing applications or waking up on calls....
Thanks in advance...

Use official Miui from Miui-devs.com. Rom updated every week, if bugs are found, they usually get fixed with-in few days or in next weekly built.
so far i have no bugs. other that common signal bar issue that most in not all users have. Sense 2.1 ROM was also bug free for me.
is it true that running android via NAND has less battery consumption than via SD ?
cos I run via SD and the battery drops like a %every 2 minute...if I am on wifi...
Hi everyone,
I bought a relative new EU HD2 for my school project, because we want to develop an android application. WP7 looks like an interesting OS, I want to give it a chance and so I want to use a SD-Android (for a while!?). There are many threads about NANDroid like Recommend a NAND Rom? or Best daily use NAND ROM ?, but I haven't find one about SD-Android.
I saw 3 types of Roms, CyanogenMod- , MIUI-, and Sense-Roms. HTC Sense looks very beautiful, but I've heard about graphic glitches and "low" batterylife. What's the difference between CM and Miui?
Must have:
stable Wifi
stable 3G
~2 days of battery life (moderate use)
german language
good performance
good speech quality
Nice to have:
HTC Sense
Bluetooth
720p record
good camera quality
GPS
Which rom are you using? Do you use HTC Sense? And if not why? I know that I'm not the 1st one who ask for recommendations, but there are a lot of different roms and I'm totally overwhelmed by the variety ^^.
Thanks in advance!
