[HOT!] WiFi Hotspot on Sammy Omnia 7 WORKING - Omnia 7 General

Hi,
we just made WiFi hotspot working on both Sammy Focus and Omnia 7 in developer section. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1233612
Just giving a notice .
Cheers!

I think the tut can be expanded for newbies :]
Once I get the 7.1 SDK tools installed, I'll look at going through it and making a tut for the clueless like myself.

Please do , i don't get it to work , great job OndraSter

Android and linux

Hi guys first post haha , i may be a complete and utter noob but doesnt this look promising http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=382265 its for the vouge and its solves most of the main problems ie. no slide out keyboard but a on screen one instead . I am still waiting for my hd to arrive , so i cannot test it yet . Would this work on the the blackstone? Thanks
People have been talking about this for a while, this is not that new. IDK if it would work since its a new phone, you would probably need to make your own drivers and change a bunch of things for it to work on the HD.
Well if its possible on the Iphone then hopefully it should be ok for the HD.
As for iphone they now have linux up and running and are looking at porting Android.

Breaking news ! First windows 7 original rom is out !

It seems that the very first windows 7 rom is out ...it has appears here on xda and DA_g is already working on it..it seems that the first device to get the updates it will obviusly be the HD2...
Anyway I don't know what think, I'm not very impressed from windows phone 7, expecialy I don't want to lost manila..
here is the thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=681659
cool news!!
maybe our s200 chiefs get it running on our devices ;-)
We should make some kind of fund to interest some people to port it to acer since there aren't that much developers for the neotouch?
Or is Arto or brainmaster interested?
it's not so easy ...at the moment just do the dumpo is preatty difficoult...don't expect anythin in the mid-term...
I am interested in cooking WM7 for NeoTouch, so i will stay in touch and follow the development of ROM.
Now i am on vacation and be back in 2 Weeks.
I will stay tuned too on this but I dont expect to much the possibility of cooking that...
as for me until microsoft don't bring multitasking and third party app support I'm not very interested to that...if I wanna an embedded device I would have bought a nokia or something else...
by the way I have seen the multitasking of the palm pixi...and I have to say that it's very nice ! would be awsome to bring that interface on windows mobile.
You can seen in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bI5tLZH4nEY .arto what do you think ?
Getting wp7 on the acer s200 or any other qsd8xxxx platform device wont be as straight foward as it was getting 6.5 to our current devices, da-g has said it the devices will brick, jtag will be needed, and lots of other things will go wrong, wp7 wont be as easy as porting 6.5 to an arm7 device, this will require a lot of skill and luck and most of all time, i can bet my neck that we wont see a half working rom for atleast a year, hell maybe more, lets just be patient and hope that da_g can find a way to flash this new generation of rom's on to the current qsd8xxx platform devices.
I see, anyway as for me, until mocrosoft won't bring multitasking support and third party apps I'm not very interested in it ...

:O very very nice, this is what i call multitasking .i really want to have this on my acer neotouch
Hoping that microsoft will release WP7 soon......
Another 'let's donate to con-men' thread... Forget it, if you need an iPhone go buy it and be happy... I don't get why those people've bought a 'classic' WM smartphone if they want a thing similar to iPhone/ Android (which is in fact, a substitute/clone of an iPhone)

Will you guys have a look at my new ROM?

here is the story,i have been working on a windows mobile ROM for few days and still i have no idea if any one is really interested to look to other Roms for his phone other than the original,i dont release any screenshots yet, still working on homepage, but all i can say is:
i have held onto lightness of the rom as much as possible
i dont run tweaks on my Roms
style of the ROM is totally new and never been out and its suitable for all microsoft windows users.
after being a programmer of .NET application for near 6 years ever since i was only 14,and before that i was joint the basic game development group,i can say i got some experiences in XNA game development framework and Compact .NET framework,so in everyrom i provide some applications including the updates (which are written by me,applications and updates both togather),for example now im working on a vista style calculator, Folder-explorer and applications like that, and i believe such things are impossible in some way for windows phone 7 due to its limitations.
so generally my questions is that : any of you are interested to see this rom?in next 48 hours i might be complete with designing process and then if you guys confirmed and liked it,i could start programming some non-WM style applications, applications with totally new visuals and ideas,

i would love to see your work!
sounds very interesting!
3 Days ...
This ROM will take about 72 hours,
Currently, Im working on upgrading the base for using the latest packages, and Arman is Focusing on development of additional frameworks which will be included inside the rom
The good news is that the framework will be shared with developers who are interested in using it in their apps)
When the build is ready, we will close this thread & start a new one. until that time, all your Ideas and comments are welcome.

+ 1, your welcome . so i can say for my experience, there are alot fo peopple that would like to see a complete and original stock rom just with manila upgrade or a complete original stock rom without sense (NO SENSE), There are already so many apps ,modification, tweaks cabs and more to customize a stock rom, PERSONALLY I LIKE 6.5 ROMS MOST
Nice to see that some new chiefs are working on HD2 here!
I will follow your future roms and try them!
If you both have also aknowledge of the base technics of the rom, DLL's and so on, there is a group of people liking very much to use a good incall-recorder!
For now ( I think depending of audio-routing and decoding-GSM ) with every working software just your own voice is recorded; the voice of the one that you are calling with is just recorded by the microphone that picks of the soft sound of the speaker of the phone.
If you guys got the skills to look into this ( othersnapdragon devices as the acer can do 2way-recording!) and solve it you are gonna get lots of fans!
Good luck cooking and developing!

We will work on both 6.5 and 6.5.5 roms. I too prefer the 6.5 roms as they are lighter and more professional. but we will work on both editions, offering different versions (including lite, -with & without sense).
I appreciate your suggestion sir, thanks for sharing your experience

Thanks for your response,just as an update ;
im now designing mostly .NET framework side of the ROM,for those of you who dont know what .NET framework is ,in very very simple means, its a set of components provided as default ,components can be like : listbox, buttons, textbox and so on ... or even DLLs(class libraries),
i got time this evening to settle all the proper tools for development ,we are still experiening, note that the first series of rom are classified ,just like Windows family classification .
we will be having:
- Business edition : light, fast, browser integrated, office tools and all tools related to the same field of this kind
- Basic : for those of you who wants it real simple,no additional set of tools or frameworks, and basically want the highest level of battery life.
- ultimate: last but not least, including all extras we have developed, from small utilities to huge ones, and both useful and developed based upon your ideas ,this edition will be including all the packages, this is for those who want it real featured!
note that the design is quite stable,we are not aiming to provide differently designed homepages, but instead one universal start page , and the difference is in their features, the difference will be really obvious.
---------------------------------
How will be the future of this ROM?
basically you just download a single file extract it,and run it,setup runs, firstly asks you for the edition of your choice and basically prepares the flash-program for you to directly flash the phone and get the rom to work
--------------------------------
only that our first rom is comming in a very simple shape, just a demonstration and when we are done with styles ,we will head straightly to functionality
--------------------------------
all i can say is that i am trying my best to keep your battery lifes at the maximum level by not running extra processes, but still implementing alot of features .
--------------------------------
AND we are not copying anyone's work in this forum and XDA or any other developer's work,we started a clean copy

just as a note : beta-testers do not risk their phones,we do not push applications incomplete into the platform,beta-testers are those who could leave us direct comments and ideas about the current style of the applications, the ROM in each beta ,is totally Stable and this is promised by me

Where to start :)

Hey all before i leave this forums officially at the end of this month ( of course il still be here ) i wish to start deving at least port or continue and update someones 2.3 AOSP rom i have the hardware i hope

hmm currently syncing sources and after that i need gt540s device configs where do i find them any idea??

ubuntu

So, I have decided to compile and get ubuntu running on our devices. I have the TMO Note 4.
If anyone has a donor device, or can give me some pointers I want to get all this running nicely.
No goal is unobtainable.
I will like to see this if we can get dual boot [emoji14]
and what about miui 6? there is recently released miui 6 patchrom. Do you know miui? I am asking you this because we are two and we want to port it but we have weak knowledge. Maybe you can help us
and this is how miui 6 look like
http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=34895&extra=page=1&page=1&mobile=no
and there are some of thousands official themes for miui
http://en.miui.com/thread-112322-1-1.html
First of all i don`t think it`s nice of you to come in here and state there's no real custom roms out there for the Note 4, there's a lot of movement in the threads and developers work their butt off providing the latest and the best experience for the device. That said, let`s say i`m willing to give you a N910F donor device for development purpose, what have you got to show for it? Being a newbie ( at least your XDA account shows it ) there doesn`t seem much that shows anything worth to mention.
You sure this ain`t a cheap way of getting yourself a Note 4?

if you already have a TMO n4, why would you need a donor device?
and if dual boot works it's even easier to try it all
but porting Ubuntu does sound like a fun project, maybe you can use cm12 stuff to speed up the porting :fingers-crossed:
and i would love to help but i have no idea about porting and i'm already busy with n4 and s6 edge development
good luck though! :good:
My Apologies

My apologies, you are correct about custom roms. What I meant is we don't have MIUI, Firefox, etc. Yeah skinned versions of Android, yet some people like them.
I want to do something no one else has done, and bring something to the table.

That's all I have now is my ubuntu laptop.
What I found out is ubuntu touch is based on cm10.1.
They don't have 3g/4g/let working for some systems.
I am reading about how to compile. Hensel why I need a donor device, just in case I super brick. Bricking out my only phine would suck.
I haven't figured out how to pm, so if anyone can talk to me like via Skype, and help me learn. PLEASE!

Sounds like a fun project according to me. Did not heard ubuntu ported since note 2.
But have not enough money to give away a note 4.
NOTE 4 running Ubuntu/Windows10
Ladies and Gentleman,
John here, I have spent at least 5 days trying to port windows 10 to the Note 4, (turns out its not possible) windows 10 requires secure boot and bypassing this is a pain in the ass, so I've given up.... it is 5/12/2017 and I've arrived very late to this thread but I got my note 4 out of the drawer and decided to turn it into a portable Linux pc, I spent 4 weeks porting Ubuntu to the note 2 in 2015 and dropped the project because there was many issues getting all the drivers to work but so far porting Ubuntu to the note 4 is working well but it needs quite a bit of glitches to be fixed, im trying to get the 4G gsm module to work and the sound but soon this will be working great and I will share my finished product.

I also have a N910T and am willing/would love to be a part of this and help get Ubuntu working on my Note 4. I will help in any way I can.. I have been searching for a port of Ubuntu for some time now so I was VERY excited when I saw your OP. I know this might sound odd but the main reason I wanted to run Ubuntu was for native development. In the same situation as @sawdoctor I have also been trying for about a year to compile a kernel but for some reason I just can't figure it out ha. I don't have my computer with me during the day but I have my phone and plenty of time so I was looking for a way to compile the kernel source with my device. And although I obviously don't know that much about development, I figured what better way to start that running Ubuntu. It's crazy to me i couldn't find one single guide or post about how to build a kernel with the phone you want to run it on. Seems like it should be easy ha. I have have tried termux, gnu-root, cc-tools, kbox3,........you name it and I have a TB of it ha. So all rambling aside, just let me know what or if you need anything

Not at all, Ubuntu isn't sizing things properly and it's almost impossible to use the touchscreen to click buttons, can only be used with a mouse, just getting otg to work was a pain to plug in a mouse, there's some options In Ubuntu for resizing but they don't help that much.

Hmm. Well maybe resizing everything could be an acceptable approach but if windows and android have different "skins" maybe we could make a custom gnome launcher that works better with the small screen, but as far as the drivers and the kernel, is it stable, and what model have you compiled it for?

Hey bro. Any progress? i just ran across a kde plasma active installer for nexus 7 that uses multirom to flash linux to ext sd. Would it maybe be possible to adapt the script to our device being that we have EFIDroid and Multisystem?
I've been working on porting Halium (needs for Ubuntu touch now) to my device, I haven't gotten the graphics to work yet but with the work I've got done so far we could get the graphics working then get other OSes that support Halium working (I.e. plasma os, sailfish, and possibly even post market os) if your still trying to get this working let me know and I'll contribute what I can to help, I still DD my n910p cause I like the form factor of my note 4, hate the glitchy issues that sprint forced into its software though. I have gotten Ubuntu to boot to a headless system setup, but that's not useful for what my end game is, its just a step in the right direction.
