Defy+ infos - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just got my new Defy+. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
First of all: the bootloader is locked, of course.
Firmware is 4.5.1-134_DFP-74, running 2.6.32.9-gbad50c3.
/system-dump: http://www.rockenundpoppen.com/carsten/defyplus_dump_4.5.1-134.zip
boot, recovery, devtree & system-dump: http://www.rockenundpoppen.com/carsten/dump_2.zip

Meh. Fail from Motorola for me on this one.... Oh well gonna wait for the Xperia active instead...

Gingerbreak doesn't seem to work. It's running for quite a while now, without success...

Are buttons bright (brighter than screen)? Is your version deblurred?
And we're expecting system dump and screenshots ofc.

Uhm, not sure about this. The buttons light up, when it's getting dark, I would say they are brighter than the screen.
No, it's blurred. adb pull /system? Running right now, will upload it in the next minutes. Screenshots... what do you want to see? Well, I'll just make some.

If you get root, go to adb shell, su
then
cat /dev/block/boot > /sdcard/boot
cat /dev/block/recovery > /sdcard/recovery
cat /dev/block/system > /sdcard/system
cat /dev/block/mmcblk1p12 > /sdcard/devtree
then give us those files from sdcard
Here are bright buttons:
Those are not:

Whats the difference between the low light and the high light buttons?

Uhm, well, I would say bright! So you people can't live with that, huh?
I'm running linux, so I just looked through the script. Can anyone tell me what /data/local/12m actually does? It seems as if the script actually screws with the permissions by linking /data/local/12m to /data. Does that sound safe to you? I'll run it by hand then.
Edit: Just found some info on the exploit: http://vulnfactory.org/blog/2011/08/25/rooting-the-droid-3/ Let's give it a try!

It sounds very magic. But stock recovery should format whole /data clean if anything.

Also, can you run dump commands before pushing su / superuser.apk, even before adb remount? This way we may be able to create SBF from dumps.

# id
uid=0(root) gid=0(root)
/system-dump is still uploading, you'll get the others right after that.
Edit: about 10 seconds too late!

Oh well, boot, recovery and devtree plus system nandroid is fine.

/system-dump: http://www.rockenundpoppen.com/carsten/defyplus_dump_4.5.1-134.zip
The others will take 40 minutes. (Still shocked, that the zips are smaller than bz2!)

Those files differ between 4.5.1-134_DFP-10 and 4.5.1-134_DFP-74:
in /bin:
Code:
battd
debuggerd
netd
netstat
newfs_msdos
notify
protocol_driver
ps
ptf
usbd
in /lib:
Code:
libandroid_runtime.so
libgki.so
libjni_nwp.so
libmediaplayerservice.so
libquicksec.so
libril-moto-umts-1.so
libstagefright.so
Not much; but i hope battery usage fixes are there.

A500 - Intermittant WiFi (Apply patch??)

Hi
I upgraded to HC 3.2 and my wifi was great for the first 2 weeks or so.
Lately however, it seems to be stuck (quite often "obtaining IP address")
It can take 10 minutes or so b4 it connects.
What I want to know, Can I run the wifi fix on the Acer site on my 3.2version of
HC
thanks.............
I'm curio-us about this as well. My wifi isn't horrible but it does seem to be flaky. Like it will be at full bars one second and half the next without moving it.
so, you´ve tried it yet?
I´m have the same problem here.
No I haven't tried it. Not sure what it does yet. I would think it would be a firmware update for the wifi card, but I don't know.
---------- Post added at 03:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:29 PM ----------
I just went and tried it. Kind of a shot in the dark thing, but it doesn't seem to have any negative effects so far. According to the instructions you install it through recovery as an update.zip (included in the download). Then when you boot back into the OS turn off and turn back on the wifi. I did it and so far so good. I haven't noticed anything yet.

It's an apk packed in there, but it installs like an update.zip. I believe there's a firmware file that's flashed during the update process.

Just a quick update. My wifi strength hasn't really improved any but it does appear more consistent (i.e. sitting in one spot the signal doesn't appear to fluctuate anymore).

Missing boot partion!

Does anyone know how to restore the boot partion? I think that this time I achieved to brick my phone. I tried to (read: FAILED) to downgrade the latest 2.3.5 and now no matter what I do, all I get is "update failed messages." I can't get into recovery (CWM or the standard) since when I boot my phone to the pink screen, nothing happens; no partion shows up anywhere. BLAH!

No this is not the kernel source, that is posted in another thread, I am working on a kernel with OC/UV now, I should have my device on Monday.
I posted up the system dump in its own thread, hopefully it gets a little more visibility that way. Anything else people may need from me? Like I said, I have the time to do whatever needs to get done.

Possibility to PORT N7100 ROM to N7105

maybe not just ROM maker can do that,It's more complicated,I tried before
I dont know if this is something you look for, but it is what i use on my gt-7105 EU version LTE.

note II 7105 /jellybam aokp rome™
Don't Know if this helps .
but changing the appropriate DEV/BLOCKS will do the tricks and for lte speeds u can use n7105 modem
I have no knowledge how to do so. Its the same modem as i had with stock rom.
note II 7105 /jellybam aokp rome™
I've tried already a couple, Omega included with that process and it all went well except that is always asking for the sim unlock code and the contacts always FC. So i'm no rom wizard but i think it need more then just changing a few files.
Tested lte today. Getting very random results.. But everything else work flawless. Stable and fast rome. No fc:s whatsoever

Yes I tried and runned smooth with no FC
However, with it the phone is identified on PlayStore as model: Samsung SGH-I317 and my PC does not recognize it, even with USB Debuging ON
Then I made a factory reset and restored deadman12's ROM. Now it connects again to PC but when going to Play Store it is still identified as Samsung SGH-I317 ...
have you taken any action to change this?
Thanks

Help! I am a noob and bricked my phone...

Here you can watch it yourself. After some time, all ROMs and stock didn't boot at all. I tried everything! Every little thing! Then I made a flashable zip using Huawei Update extractor (I know you are thinking: GOD! REALLY?!?!)and (sadly) flashed it. Now this happens. Please help!
Should I remove battery?
EDIT (18th of august): Huawei responded after a long time. They said they have a lot of people being dumb like me. They say you would need to change the mainboard, whicht would cost almost as much as the phone costs new. Sad, but thats life
