[Q] WiFi Error after kernal flash - EVO 4G General

I am running Synergy RLS1 w/GodMode and everytime I flash a different kernal I get an Error under my WiFi connection. I've tried several different kernals with the same results. The stock kernal works fine but I want to overclock and the stock kernal will not let me. Thanks for any input on this please.

Try this kernel

Make sure you pick the applicable one for you...
If on synergy godmode pick the appropriate kernel.
Ex: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?rjh5gn9yvc96ndi
If on plain synergy, use the universal
If on nightly use the nightly

I've already tried this one but I'll do an extra good wipe and try it again. I had to reformat and partition my sd card before GodMode would even load! Anyway thanks for the reply!

Just making sure you picked the right one since there are four different types of undervolted options with three different types of kernel installation.. Out of the twelve options you have, only four should work with the ROM you selected.

I'm on mik 2.55 and had the exact opposite reaction that your phone. On Freedom v0.9 everything was working peachy. I tried ChopSuey v9.1 and then I got the error for my wifi?????
I've gone back to Freedom and everything's working again, but it's just odd that I had an opposite reaction with those two kernels.

incredikernel | no0b question

How should I go abount intalling intellikernel on cm7rc3 . I am a noob and do not really understand the importance of having a seperate kernel (incredikernel is supposed to be superior than the default CM7) .. would I have to do some tweaks after I flash this?
Do I need to wipe anything before I flahs this or any new kernel? is it stable?

That is for the Droid Incredible.
That is why it will not work on our phone.
You can only flash 3rd party kernels related to your phone, and your skin design. meaning you cannot flash an AOSP kernel for Sense ROM, nor a DInc kernel to a OG Droid.
But I am running CM7 RC3 ... which is AOSP.... I am a little confused.

But the Kernel you are looking at is for the Droid Incredible, not for the HTC Glacier. They are two different phones, with two different hardware packages. You must use AOSP kernels for the HTC Glacier.
Could you suggest one that you really like? and do I have to wipe anything before I flash any kernel?

Personally i suggest running the stock kernel that came with your ROM. And i will only use the kernel that comes with the ROM. The developers have built the ROM to run around that kernel. So it should work the best. I know Faux123 has built some top notch kernels....but i cannot speak first hand.

scroll down until you get to cm7 kernels and download the latest grandkin kernel! instructions are on the page =)
I use fauxs oc/uv just cause he's awesome and you can oc it to 1.8 ghz but you have to be careful when overclocking I'd suggest setting up the governers and profiles in setcpu after flashing the kernel. But no you don't need to wipe anything just boot into recovery and install

Hey y'all, I have CM7 on my Evo and tried to flash incredikernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=848453 using clockwordmod rom manager. Everything seemed to go fine but now it will not get past the white htc evo 4g boot screen. How shall I proceed? [Q] What ROM should i use after install of Manual Nooter? (CM7?)

Im about to install Manual Nooter on my SD card and begin to hack. Assuming everything goes correctly with that.....what ROM should i put on it after?
I hear CM7..now CM7.02 i think is the newest, is supposedly the best and fastest.
I know theres the froyo one as well.
Anyone have any ideas especially if your running one you like, let me know please. Thanks!!

My vote would be for CM7 and the OC kernel. I played around with a bunch of the options and have settled on this as my base.
But it's so easy to try different things I would have to suggest that you try anything that catches your fancy, once you have a good backup of the current base configuration.

The nightly experimental builds are just that, experimental. They may blow up, or not work properly with certain apps, or conflict with the OC kernel. The stable builds are the "officially supported" builds.
What I currently have is a stable 7.02 configuration running with the 4-24 OC kernel and a bunch of installed apps that all work right in this setup. I back it up to my SD card using the"Backup Current ROM" option in ROM Manager (I bought the premium version).
If I update to a nightly I can always go back to that backup if I screw something up. I've only screwed it up that badly once so far

I have everything set up and working correctly (yayayayay!).....but im haveing trouble loading a kernel. Apparently i need an updated CWM on my sd card since i have 3.0.0.5, which is super outdated i think. The 4/24 kernel dowloads and install correctly, but it doesnt affect anything and i can still only OC to 925 through CM7 settings. Soooo im trying to look for the newest CWM so i can dowload and put it on my SD card

You should be able to flash the current version of CWM from the ROM Manager application.

new CM7 nightlies in rom manager?

I understand the newer nightlies are using the new kernel and need an update u-boot? If I flash within ROM manager will this be done automatically, or would I need to do that and the kernel flash manually? Been using 7.03 for a while but I would like to try the new stuff with the sleep fix if it's not overly complicated.
Also, if I go back to 7.03 can I just restore a backup in CWM or is there more to it since I've moved to a whole new kernel?

I am very interested in responses to this too--as I am running cm7.0.3, and would like to try the nightly route. what is the best way to move over to nightlys?
I believe just flash them. It worked for me and I jumped from 7.0.0 to 87!
Just went from 7.0.3 to 87 myself.
This is correct. Don't need to flash u-boot for n86 and on. Just flash the nightly itself, then the 5/23 OC kernel if you want to overclock.

You can just flash the latest nightly right over cm7.0.3, followed by the 5/23 OC kernel if you want to overclock. Did exactly that just today without any problems, and everything is now working wonderfully.
I wiped cache and dalvik cache before flashing, as I always do. Some say this isn't needed, but I always do it anyway. Only takes a few seconds and can't hurt anything.

After rooting your phone

Hello,
I have few questions to ask here in the community regarding rom and kernels.
1. Which Rom do you guys recommend that works without any problems (beside cyanogenmod)?
2. If Cyanogenmod which one do you recommend stable or nightly?
3. Which Kernel should i use after rooting my phone that works correctly and has no problems?
Please share with me some of your thoughts and opinions.

Myn's Warm series have always been very smooth and stable for me. I'm not going to give you a link, you can find it yourself in the Dev section.
Energy 2/6/12 rom is awesome... nice and smooth pretty much bug free. can be a bit hefty on the internal storage, but with dt a2sd and dalvik on sd card its not bad.

I second this. Wife wanted an iPhone, I wasn't having that. She got an Evo and complained since day one....until this build of MIUI. She is overjoyed now. I've flashed a lot of stuff on mine and am very happy with the look and feel. Much better than any Sense based ROM I have tried by far and doesn't look like any other Android build without heavy customization. Just runs nicely out out of the box.
Doesn't have 4g but I never turned it on anyway.
