[ROM] RCR - "Clean" ROM, [HC 3.2] A500, Rooted, Busybox - Acer Iconia A500

Base is Acer_A500_7.006.01_COM_GEN2.
Rooted.
Deodex.
Busybox.
Bloatware removed.
Bootloader unlocked.
Recovery partition is left unchanged.
This ROM is intended as a base for other ROM's OR regular use without all the bloatware.
It is a "clean" stripped out version of the 7.006.01_COM_GEN2 update (full update, not OTA). The COM_GEN version does not matter a great deal. It will not hurt anything to install this on a GEN1 or GEN3 tablet. The hardware is exactly the same.
I keep track of everything that is changed, you can view the history and create this ROM yourself.
This will probably be the last update on this ROM until a large change in the OS occurs again. I built it to be quick, stable, and bloatware free. It is all of those.
Latest Version
Version History:
v1110062238
v1109261806
v1109252300
v1109251910 - Initial Release
Orginal ROM I worked off of can be found here
Notes:
This ROM will not recieve over the air updates. You would need to restore FWUpdateService* and FDUpdater* to re-enable OTA.
This requires CWM or similar to flash. It does not modify the recovery partition when installed.
Google Maps, Videos, Music2, and AdobeFlash have been removed. The latest versions can be downloaded through the market.
Feel free to restore any apks you you want, they should reintegrate without issue.
ROMs based off of this one in whole or in part:

Changes
v1110062238 -
Changed updater-script as needed.
Removed an additional unneeded apk and a few files.
The version of su and Superuser.apk is from su-3.0.2-efgh-signed.zip.
Installed busybox v1.19.2 and symlinked the appropriate binaries in the updater-script.
v1109261806 -
Removed a few additional unneeded apks.
The version of su and Superuser.apk is from su-3.0-efgh-signed.zip.
v1109252300 -
Changed updater-script as needed.
Removed the bootloader.blob (Locked bootloaders don't concern me but would give you trouble!)
v1109251910 -
Changed updater-script as needed.
Deodexed entire ROM by hand using baksmali/smali v1.2.8.
The version of su and Superuser.apk is from su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip.
Opened flexrom.img and removed folder app. This had a preinstall apk that did nothing in this version. It only brought up an annoying message when firstrun saying "apk preinstaller complete".

Do you have a recommendation of kernal for this? Are you using Richards?

I am not currently using a stock kernel with this. I have not changed anything. I am in the process of getting together a few boot.img with new kernels and posting those here as extras. In the meantime richards should work assuming it is compatible with 3.2 (im 99% sure it is)

What are these files used for? I thought the framework jars were a necessary part of the OS (not a programmer or anything) Should I install them?

These are extras for dev use only. If you aren't building a rom this wont matter to you,

I just finished installing the ROM.
During the installation, however, I got this error.
random offset 0x136
Does this mean anything? The installation did go without any other glitches and I have been using the tablet with your ROM for about half an hour now. Works without any problems.

How do you get the media server working with clearfi , now it crashes when you try to start the media server in clear fi.
EDIT:
Ok I got it , added the clearfi framework and the Acer DLNA apk and now it works.

I always receive that message for every ROM I install. I have never tracked down why it is there. I believe it has to do with formatting a partition (maybe installing the flexrom?), but I do not know. Unless you are told otherwise, I wouldn't worry about it.

I get random offset messages to , but never experience any problems .
First , REALLY nice rom , you can install what you want and it is fast !!!
GPS fix is so fast and this even when I'm in the house ( I did use a modded GPS config for it but I did that with all the roms).
Not working , tegrazone but that is no problem.
The HD widget doesn't find my location if I set it at auto search (strange because the gps lock-on is so fast) that is the only problem that I got with it and that is no biggy.
Thanks !!!!!!

Using THOR 3.5 kernel and NO problems , can oc the hell out of it.

Im glad to hear it! I will check into tegrazone and update the dependencies section with what I find. Also, did you restore the Clearfi xml file to the etc permissions folder as well? I dont know if it will cause issue if you dont, but it is there in the original ROM.
/system/etc/permissions/com.acer.android.clearfilib_tablet.xml
Are you using an A500? Or an A501?

Thanks. Downloading now

I'm liking the sound of this rom, I'll be giving it a shot in a few and installing richardtrips 3.2 kernel.
I'll report back with my findings.

Did not restore the ClearFI xml in etc permissions , it is restored automaticly when you restore the .jar in the framework.
Look at my sig : I'm using a Packard Bell LibertyTab (exactly the same as a A500) So wifi only. After flash of this rom I got a A500. Packard bell is just so slow on updates still HC3.0.1
I made some changes to the rom for me , now it installes "busybox" , "drivemount"and "es file explorer" when you flash it , don't need to go into the market to install those apps.
For the tegra zone I can use the kitchen for taboonay , tested this and it worked.

Busybox & drivemount install on flash
In the main folder I put the "installbusybox" file from Taboonay 2.1 (SO A BIG THANKS TO VACHE)
And in the system/xbin folder I put the "busybox" file from Taboonay 2.1 (SO A BIG THANKS TO VACHE)
And the drivemount.apk from that same taboonay rom.
(extract files from taboonay and place it at the same place it is installed on the taboonay rom)
All working supurb.

You dont need vache's files for that.
You can set everything up in the updater-script. Just setup the symlinks there, and permissions for the busybox binary.
I am a bit curious about the SIM card messages. I have never received one. We know ro.carrier=wifi-only will fix it, but again I have never received one.
If you have a decent ROM you should post it in a new thread for everyone to enjoy. That was part of my goal here

I really don't know where to start with the the update-script , I'm a noob at these things , I do everything with trail and error .
But like I said the rom is working fast and smooth.
Well I got the sim card messages because of the custom kernel I'm running.
If I did some more testing I will post the rom for download.
Again thanks for this rom and the apps , it's nice to fool around with something I don't know.

I had to stop using this rom , I think you moved to many things , it was not stable , (gps was doing strange things , keeps hanging in search) , but is was really good for benchmarking.
Could you just deodex and su it and leave the rest as it is so I can mess around with it.

I've been using this Rom since yesterday afternoon and I've yet to have any instabilities, FC's or issues with it. It's exactly what I have been looking for, just a clean stripped vanilla rom. The only app I've felt compelled to put back was livewallpaperspicker.apk so I can use multiple live wallpaper, also added the build.prop line to remove sim card notification. Everything else I got from the market.
My GPS doesn't seem to have any ill effects, I used the worldwide modified gps.conf and pick up 4-5 satellites pretty quick using GPS status and GPS test. I'll have to spend most of the day about towns o I'll put the GPS through it's paces an report any problems.
BTW I'm running Richardtrips 3.4 kernel @ 1.5ghz, it's solid and it does great in benchmark .

Its funny that you say that, I actually stripped everything out to INCREASE stability. I found that with acers crap added back in, the whole system wanted to crash a bit more often.
I do have the entire rom deodex'd. If you would like to download the deodex-app.zip in my third post and dump all of those files to the /system/app/ folder then install the zip, you will have what you are asking for.
If you can explain what was crashing in a bit more detail, we can probably track down the cause (be it this ROM or otherwise)

[Script] AutoInstall new camera [Hastarin 8.5.1 + new cam libs]

Mods: If you think this should go in general section feel free to move it, thanks.
I built a script that will install the new camera (nexus based), it will replace all necessary files to get the camera working as well as hastarins 8.5.1 modules (to get wifi working and all) and finally liblights and libhtc_ril_wrapper (might be overkill, but it works)
Instructions: Unzip CamScript folder to SD Card (anywhere is fine) and then as su (adb shell or terminal emulator, anything you use to run bash scripts is ok) run cam_install.sh
Note: It will replace zImage in either /sdcard/HD2ONE or /sdcard/Android; it will not work if you have a kernel in a folder different to those so edit your startup.txt file if necessary.
Credit goes to hastarin for the kernel and camera files
-OCM
V1.5: Everything should work now, i've tested on stock HD2ONE_Latest. Backup versions of all modified files are saved in /data/cam_backups.
Good job
Sent from my HTC HD2
Thanks for the script,
Noticed that in the Replace_Libs function you copy liboemcamera.so to libcamera.so.old overwriting the other libcamera.so.old!!
I'm guessing you don't want to do that??
I've just tried this on my JDMS 1.5 that already had Hastarin8.5.1 old camera and my Andorid wouldn't reboot.
Anyone got any tips on troubleshooting non-restarting phones??
I've got the HTC splashscreen and I can adb into the phone but from there on I'm a bit lost.

Same problem here...i've tried your script on the HD2ONE 0.3.3 Rc2 version. I've followed all the instructions and now im stuck on the green HTC logo.....Can you please tell me how to Manually apply this script because i think it doesnt work properly....thanks
I don't think this fix is going to work with build that is based on cm6 .1 rc2 because it gets boot loops on the htc screen. I will still give this fix a try and report back....
Edit
Tried it and it did not work for me, black screen on the camera...

Really thanks, anyway tomorrow (now its late night here) i'm going to reinstall the latest HD2ONE build and then applying your script again (still if you told me how to manually add all the stuff it would be better for me)
Uploaded the fixed version, worked on stock HD2ONE_Latest, so it *should* work on other builds but i cant guarantee this. If you're stuck on boot screen you can try running this new script and see if it works, if it doesnt replace system.ext2 with stock from your build then run the script. Sorry about the initial errors...
So, I used your 1.5 script and this time managed to reboot back into Android.
Everything seemed fine except that my camera still had a green tinge when used with the flash.
THEN I realised that I still had the root directory in the Android folder. So assumed/guessed that the libs were being oerwritten by those in the root folder.
So I renamed root to root_old, re-ran your script, rebooted.
Hung like a mule!!
Restoed original JDMS 1.5 system.ext2, rebooted fine.
Except now my accounts don't sync, my camera takes a picture then hangs
I will get it all back thanks to Titanium Backup
--
Looking at your script it's what I've always been doing to install new Kernels. The green tinge was there when I first tried Hasatrin 8.5.1
The only thing that you do different is include a build.prop file (which is wildly different from mine BTW).
So, my question, is it something in the build.prop that is stopping the grren tinge? If so, what??
TIA
as far as i know, this new lib file in CM or MIUI build make camcorder freeze..does it? or does it not?
I have a weird problem: when i'm in terminal emulator, then su (#), but when i try to type run cam_install.sh it says....run: not found......i think it doesnt recognize the run command..is it possibile??
Is there a way to avoid using this script and SIMPLY manually put all the needed files in the correct directories??
Thanks in advance!!!
P.S. I'm doing that in a HD2ONE stock unmodified latest build...

Try
Code:
./cam_install.sh
there is no 'run' command in linux. Programs are executable and are run by just typing their name.
Of course the file has to be chmod'd to be executable too, but the ./ gets around that mostly.
It didn't work with HD2ONE-0.3.3.RC2

Since everyone is having such a hard time getting it to work here are the manual instructions:
Replace your current kernel with hastarins 8.5.1
Replace Camera.apk in /system/app
Replace libcamera.so, liboemcamera.so, libOmxCore.so, libOmxVdec.so, libOmxVidEnc.so in /system/lib
Optional but recommended: replace lights.qsd8k.so in /system/lib/hw and rename or remove /system/lib/hw/lights.htcleo.so also replace libhtc_ril_wrapper.so in /system/lib
replace bcm4329.ko, tun.ko and cifs.ko in /system/lib/modules
place 99complete in /system/etc/init.d and chmod it to 755 (important!)
replace build.prop to fix green tint (I got it from the green tint fix thread and just replaced some lines to match CM6)
reboot
Also, i said these libs were nexus based so if your build is desire based it simply wont work

A few notes:
1. IF YOU HAVE ANY PERMISSION ERRORS i.e the camera not saving images to sdcard, you have to unmount your sdcard and remount it.
2. If you don't have an ext2 or a swap partition, everything will be ok, but if you do make sure they are in the correct order, because on boot the sdcard is mounted
3. there are a few custom commands in the terminal,
Code:
bash free, term, linux, nano, swapon, swapscriptv2, swap-off, swapon50, swapon60, swapon70, swapon80, swapon90, bootscriptv2, bootswap90,bootswap80,bootswap70, mountsd, umountsd, mountsd2pc, umountsd2pc, linuxloop
[QUOTE][COLOR=red]4. This rom first boot is close to 10 minutes, be patient it will pay off.[/COLOR][/QUOTE]
[QUOTE]To use bash it is a good idea to add this to the terminal emulator's initial command just below PATH
[CODE]su -c bash
[/QUOTE]
That sets the terminal up to use bash, this will allow you to use your tracball to scroll threw old commands.
3. To chroot into linux, it is very easy if you dont have the linux, To use this debian.img download the debain.img from above and push to sdcard. /sdcard/debain.img
busybox mount -o rw,remount /
mkdir /sdcard/debain
mount -o rw,loop -t ext2 /sdcard/debain.img /sdcard/debian
dd if=/sdcard/debain of=/mnt/linux

the new debian.img is roughly 2.5 gigs so I would make enough room on your ext2 partition for 2.5 gigs at least, if you have any problems let me know
here is a link to an old thread of 2 versions of linux, NEITHER of these are the debian.img I have and am working on. these two are just incase you want to try to play around.
you will need to know a little about linux to get them running, but they will work. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=823564
I forgot to add custom cpu settings, but it can stand up to 748mhz, that is what mine is clocked at.
Things that need fixing or tweaks wanted, please help as follows:
Download Apps2SD Free to use apps on sdcard, made by AZSoft Technology.
/system folder has only 13 megs after fresh install
currently I have a data/apps/ but data/apps is mounted as sdcard/data/apps
so the phone thinks data/apps is my external sdcard memory
would like to link a few apps into the system settings If you would like to help on this rom and become part of the new team please private message.

you say wifi hotspot isn't working.
was that ever even a feature available for the eris?
never has worked besides an app, the only reason I say isnt working is because there is an app that works, for wifi tether, and wpasupplicant should be able to handle wifi hotspot, we just need to go threw a few files and rewrite the code. If someone has the hear they can do this, or an nother way that would make me happy would be just to change the link, for settings wifi hotspots to wifi tether app
either way I would like a more perminant way to use wifi tether make it look native
hows debian run? and which version is it?

U need to read the GPL license here... Links to sources used for Rom's and Apps have to be posted in the OP. This is an open source forum, therefore sources need to have links for others to share in. I'm assuming since the source link isn't posted, this rom is a clone of someone else's and therefore doesn't belong up here. Given your response to the dev, that just confirms it.
Bringing Kaos back to the Eris community? Why, so you have some new source code to use? Dude, just post the source link and everything will be totally fine... If it's a clone, atleast give credit and discuss it with the Dev...
Wpw just the kind of thing I want to read in a PUBLIC FORUM. This seems like a PRIVATE issue and I am sure a lot of folks would appreciate it if y'all kept it that way.

You know there were people before you that could create roms, there are people after you can will create more roms, yours is not the best, and you try to say that it is.
I was kind enough to not tell people all you do is put a luancher on an old build of froyo, and call it a new rom, like your IPHONE ROM, and the reason I can say this is, because about a year ago I posted the windows7.apk. This post stopped you from creating " a new rom" even though it was no new rom, just an old foryo with a new windows7.apk. Talk about taking peoples work and making it yours.

CYANOBIZ CM9 Support Thread!

Welcome to Gen8 CYANOBIZ Support thread!
ATTENTION: This build is stil in early Beta stage! Bizcuite is not responsible of bricked tabs, world war or some kind of alien invasion!
What is this thread for?
This thread is made to help people run CYANOBIZ Unofficial CM9 on their tabs, report bugs related to this ROM and share tips and tweaks.
Before adding your problem(s):
Make sure you are running the latest release of CYANOBIZ !
Make sure your problems is not already listen in the OP (aka this post) !
Bug/Problem list:
Bluetooth can work only by command in Terminal Emulator. Not fixed yet.
Camera. Preview only (can not take pictures for now). Not fixed yet.
Battery stats (% works but no notification of charge). Not fixed yet.
Each problem reported by user will be posted here after its accepted. Remember to use the latest build before reporting.
How to install CM9 step by step:
You have to install SDE before you attempt to install CM9. Follow the guide in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=930197
From now on you have to download the files only from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1941377
Step 1: Download and decompress (unzip) CM9 image file. Rename it to "openaos-cm.img".
always remember to download the file made for your device. Each device has different specification like screen size, RAM, etc.
Step 2: Download zImage.zip (its usually named with the date of the build like "zimage041013.zip") and rename it to "zImage". Do NOT decompress it!
Step 3: Download "initramfs.cpio.gz".
Step 4: Download "data.img.tar.gz", decompress it and choose the size that fits to your needs. (This file will be used to install apps. If you usually install low amount of apps you can use 256MB. Recommended size: 512 MB.. After you decompress it, rename it to "data_ICS.img" and copy it to the root of your internal storage.
Step 5: Copy the decompressed CM9 system file (openaos-cm.img) to the root of your internal storage.
Step 6: Create a new text file. Insert this line: ICS||/openaos-cm.img|/init|0Archos|ARCHOS|ARCHOS|/init and save it. Rename the text file to "menu.lst" and copy it to the internal storage. (If it doesnt work open "menu.lst" with Notepad++ and add one additional line below by pressing enter)
Step 7: Installing the kernel and initramfs.cpio.gz:
Reboot your tab into recovery. Select Recovery System => Developer Edition Menu => Flash Kernel and Initramfs. Connect your tab to your PC via USB and copy the files from steps 2 and 3. (Its recommended to copy the files one by one)
You are done! :good:
Currently the kernel is not supported by other ROMs (except stock firmware with stock kernel).
How to add swap file
Use adb or Terminal Emulator and add these lines:
If you are going to copy the lines copy it line by line do not copy-paste the whole guide else it wont work!
swapoff -a
rm /swapfile
rm /system/etc/fstab
dd if=/dev/zero of=/swapfile bs=1024 count=50000
mkswap /swapfile
touch /system/etc/fstab
echo "/swapfile none swap sw 0 0" >> /system/etc/fstab
swapoff /dev/block/ramzswap0
swapon -a /swapfile
This activates a swap file of 50MB in the root of your system image file (CYANOBIZ_xxx.img also knows as openaos-cm.img
Do NOT increase the size over 50MB because the system will become full and it will result in a bootloop!
How to activate swap in internal SD card (storage). This way you can put highter value like 128MB/256MB/512MB/etc.
Use adb or Terminal Emulator and add these lines:
If you are going to copy the lines copy it line by line do not copy-paste the whole guide else it wont work!
swapoff -a
rm /mnt/storage/swapfile
rm /system/etc/fstab
dd if=/dev/zero of=/mnt/storage/swapfile bs=1024 count=128000
mkswap /mnt/storage/swapfile
touch /system/etc/fstab
echo "/mnt/storage/swapfile none swap sw 0 0" >> /system/etc/fstab
swapoff /dev/block/ramzswap0
swapon -a /mnt/storage/swapfile
If you want to see if it's working type "cat /proc/swaps"
You should see this:
cat /proc/swaps
Filename Type Size Used Priority
/mnt/storage/swapfile file 127972 0 -1
You swapfile is done!
Notice: Sometimes a logcat worths more then a hundred words.
If you like the ROM and you'd like to support it feel free to donate to Bizcuite. This way you can tell him a huge "Thank You" and support his job.

Many thanks for your works Mavasilisk. It's perfect!! Just don't forget the "e" in Bizcuite
Upload of first BETA release is in progres
Don't forget, if you install my kernel, you will NOT be able to use others OS (except original Firmware with original kernel of course)
Maybe we must add "This release is not official and not supported by cyanogen".

How is sleep with CM9? I used to find with CM7 Bull my tab used to use more power than stock Froyo when sleeping. Also how well does Chrome work with 256mb ram? Thanks.
I prefer Boat Browser. Its very fast and snappy with the new HW. I can compare it to Opera. Chome is just....not my taste.

Yes Boat browser works best but is laggy on bigger pages and force closes when I try to start flash content - flash player is still not working. Other browsers force close on bigger pages and chrome is slow. Opera final still dont work, beta is working but freezes on first couple starts. Even stock browser freezes on first couple starts and crashed system once and then started to work pretty normal. Most interesting thing is with Puffin browsers, they worked well under 1.8 and now Puffin free cant even start and Puffin paid freezes or force close when I try to start some web address or edit speed dial. I edited vm heapsize but it didnt help. I am still suspicious on GPU driver. Rom is fast and many apps and games works but we still have some major problems. Keep up with good work Biz and I hope that we will get stable rom soon.
Biz, check for dalvik cache and cache errors. I had some problems with apps when I forgot to wipe caches.

I try both. Today i have try to compile the driver module from cm9 sources and with archos gen8 stock kernel.
Compilation success but the driver doesn't want to be insert. I have warning during compilation and this failed the insertion.
Can you say me which security you use to connect you to your wifi?
I think that there is an issue with wpa1/2 security.
Because when i am at work i have no pb, it's a free hotspot wifi without any security just a login.

I am using WPA-PSK-CCMP and I can make it crash pretty often.
Hi Biz,
congrats to your excellent your CM9 Build. It's pretty fast. However I have a A70S like Mavasilisk and also have the same problems. I can make the tablet crash and reboot with Angry Birds Space with WIFI enabled. However if I disable Wifi and reboot so that the systems boots with WIFI off I can play the game. After another reboot with WIFI enabled the game crashes again.
I have a completely fresh system with nes data_ICS and I'm on WPA WLAN encryption.

TO ALL WHO USES BETA 2.0 (only 2.0 a 2.1 will be upload this evening), PLEASE CHANGE THOSE VALUES:
in /init.rc:
Code:
write /proc/cpu/alignment 1
The original value is 4
And in /system/build.prop:
search "vm.heapsize" and set the value to 192m
Crashes/Kernel Panic must be a REAL old story.

Jut edit init.rc and change the value of this line: write /proc/sys/kernel/panic_on_oops 0
Set the value to 0.

[ROM] (Almost) Stock Debloated 10.1.1.A.1.307 CWM ZIP LB v8

This is the ROM i use myself, but I post it here in case other people also want a clean (almost) stock ROM with root and recovery. It works for me, but I provide no guarantee that it will work for you. That said, these ZIP files and procedures have been tested by myself and a few others and seem to work quite well.
FLASH THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Requirements:
Sony Xperia Z.
Only tested on LB, but should also work on UB.
Ability to flash ZIP files via recovery.
Features:
Based on Xperia Z_10.1.1.A.1.307_Unbranded BE.ftf (file uploaded by Psicao).
Removed bloat and other apps you can download from Google Play.
Installed CWM recovery 6.0.2.8 for locked bootloaders v4.
Odexed and zipaligned.
No reboots when mounting system r/w.
Pre-rooted with Koush's Superuser App.
Busybox v1.20.2 installed.
Call recording.
18 Toggles.
36 dpi softkeys.
Changelog:
v8
Added 18 Toggles.
Switched to 36 dpi softkeys.
v7
Added WeatherWidget back due to popular demand.
More robust and less intrusive way to ensure that mounting system r/w doesn't cause a reboot.
v6
Based on 10.1.1.A.1.307
Removed 18 Toggles since it is not compatible with 1.307 yet.
Delete the ric daemon early in the boot process.
v5
Added 18 Toggles.
Applied a few WiFi tweaks to get a (hopefully) more stable WiFi connection.
v4
Removed duplicate notification sound 'vega' (bug in original ROM).
Increased volume a bit.
v3
Created all symlinks found in the original FTF file.
Changed all file and directory permissions to match those in the original FTF file.
Added a more robust script to stop ric.
v2
Fixed reboot issue when mounting system r/w.
Added Notes and NoteWidget back.
Reodexed and zipaligned.
v1
Initial release.
Installation:
Enter recovery.
Flash C6603_10.1.1.A.1.307_DEBLOAT.zip.
Clear user data OPTIONAL STEP - SEE BELOW.
Reboot.
Reboot again once NFC firmware has been upgraded (only needed if upgrading from 1.434 or earlier).
Note regarding unlocked bootloaders: This ROM is designed for LB. If using this on UB flash the following ZIP after installation to remove the CWM recovery for LB: C6603_10.1.1.A.1.307_UBPATCH.zip
Clear data?
If NFC is not working and you're upgrading from a 1.434 ROM, I recommend that you clear your userdata by flashing C6603_10.1.1.A.1.307_ClearData.zip.
You do NOT need to clear user data if you are already running a ROM based on 1.253 or 1.307 and everything is working fine.
MD5 hashes:
2f8fe013da90987447a04c0e5f405998 (C6603_10.1.1.A.1.253_DEBLOAT.zip)
3bba6ffb3cd9bdf7535c5e4b722223d5 (C6603_10.1.1.A.1.253_ClearData.zip)
b889d474290d9b924acbf011277d58e3 (C6603_10.1.1.A.1.307_UBPATCH.zip)
Upgrade kernel and baseband:
Once the ROM is working you might want to flash kernel and baseband from the original FTF via Flashtool in order to get the full 1.307 experience.
Preventing reboots when mounting /system read-write
This ROM uses my own little utility called RICHunter to prevent reboots when mounting /system read-write. If you want to use it yourself in your own ROM you can download it here:
0c766dc58cc909693f5d669264d78f4a (richunter.zip)
Included in the ZIP file is a README.txt that explains how to use it, but you can also read it here:
RICHunter by Carceri @ XDA
1. What is this?
On the Xperia Z Sony have added a small program called ric which
monitors mount options on filesystems and reboots the system if
they deviate from their default values. This causes the system
to reboot e.g. when the /system partition is mounted read-write.
In short, this programs stops this daemon and replaces it with a
dummy version that doesn't do anything, thereby disabling ric.
2. How do I use it?
Just put the file richunter somewhere on your system, for example
/system/bin/richunter, make it executable (chmod 755) and run it
as the root user. This needs to be done every time the system is
restarted.
This can be achieved by putting the following lines in a file
called /system/etc/install-recovery.sh:
#!/system/bin/sh
exec /system/bin/richunter
Another way is to make a wrapper to /system/bin/ctrlaltdel and
call richunter from there:
#!/system/bin/sh
exec /system/bin/richunter
exec /system/bin/toolbox ctrlaltdel "${1}" "${2}" "${3}" "${4}"
Choose either one, or a 3rd solution to automatically run it.
Remember to make the files executable.
3. How does it work?
On the latest kernel, the ric daemon is restarted whenever it
is killed. Therefore the following steps are taken by this
program to stop it without giving it time to reboot the system:
1) The programs runs as a daemon waiting for up to 60 seconds
for ric to start.
2) It detects which CPU ric was last scheduled on, and forces
ric to always run on that CPU in the future.
3) It forces itself to run on the same CPU as ric and sets its
scheduling priority to real-time. This prevents anything
in that CPU from running, including ric.
4) It mounts the rootfs read-write and replaces ric with a
dummy version that just sleeps forever. Finally it kills
the ric process and remounts rootfs read-only.
5) The daemon now exits. When ric is restarted the dummy
version is started instead.
4. What about unlocked bootloaders and custom kernels?
On custom kernels ric has either been removed or not installed
at all. Therefore this is only needed on locked bootloaders.
5. Can I use it in my own ROM?
Sure. Use it as you want.
6. How do I compile it?
You need to have the Android NDK installed. Then set the
correct paths in the included Makefile and run:
1) make prep
2) make
That's it. When you want to recompile you can skip step 1).
7. What license is this released under?
It is UNLICENSED software. See http://unlicense.org/
Hi, i have not tested this exact zip, but the rom i am using now is based on a previous version you posted in another thread.
There is a little issue with your "debloating", you removed "Notes" app, so when you go to "small apps" drawer and choose notes or voice recording, an error pops out, so you have to remove the icons and forget about stock notes or voice recording as they are apps not available on the market to download separately.
As i said, this happens on the first zip you uploaded, i don't know if this was already solved on newer versions.
If NFC is not working, there is still hope to keep user data intact, just delete /data/usf on your phone, take usf folder from your userdata.tar, and put it in your phone in the same place where the older was with same permissions. This step could also be added to the main flash script, no user data is lost and i think all NFC related problems would be gone
Thanks for sharing your work.

That was actually the first thing I tried and it didn't work for me. It might work for some and if someone is interested I'll be happy to provide a zip file that just restores this directory and keeps everything else under /data intact.
How do you enable call recording btw? Thanks.

Possibly reboot a second time once NFC firmware has been upgraded.
I had problems with NFC not working if I didn't clear user data the first time I upgraded from a version < 1.253. In order to clear user data follow this step:
Flash C6603_10.1.1.A.1.253_ClearData.zip.
These ZIP files and procedures have been tested by myself and a few others and seem to work. However, some people have also experienced issues, but since I don't know their exact setup it is impossible for me to pinpoint the source of these errors. FLASH THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Great, this is the first one deodexed and zipaligned, i am sure a lot of people will be interested.
EDIT: Ok, i didn't read well, it says Re-Odexed
Sorry, i'm a little confused, is this rom odexed or deodexed?

Thanks, but what I meant was how to incorporate call recording into the ROM, is it something that can be done easily, e.g. editing build.prop, etc or any other method?
Cheers.
Update: I got the answer. Thanks.

I don't think so. Is that feature available on a normal Xperia Z stock ROM?
I think that the original Gallery app installs the required sync adapter. Also if you have Google+ installed it is replaced by Photo Sync.

[KK][4.4.4] Debloating script for xperia phones running KK

***LOOKING FOR A ALL-IN-ONE SOLUTION? THAT'S AVAILABLE FOR Z3C USERS ONLY, IF INTERESTED GO HERE***
I guys, similarly to what I did for LP, and considering that even in the LP time some people asked me about debloating KK (and I'm using it right now and actually seems i like it more than LP too) I share with you my debloating script for those interested in a higly DEBLOATED KK installation, very slimmed down, battery friendly, faster, with less RAM comsuption etc
Heavily debloated actually means almost 900 mb of system stuff moved to a backup folder (that you can even delete or move to sdcards to get 900mb extra free space in /system) so applying my script you agree to debloat A LOT as I did but take care that you will have a much lighter system and still you will be able to restore very easily anything you want anytime moving stuff back from the backup folder to /system (detailed instructions for that below in this thread).
NOTES
1. as all the stuff object of my debloating script is going to be placed in /system when flashing the pre-rooted FW, it is strongly suggested to apply my script immediately after flashing the pre-rooted KK FW and before rebooting, this way all that stuff will be moved away, and it is like it was never installed (at first boot no optimizations for those apps, means faster first boot etc)
2. using different FW as base you may have some more bloat/apks, not present in my FW, that will remain installed. In this case, if you think there is some bloat left that could be removed, please send me a list of all your system apps remained after debloating, so i can check them (you can easily do that via terminal with 'ls /system/app > /sdcard/sysapps.txt' and 'ls /system/priv-app > /sdcard/privapps.txt' and send me the resultant text files)

Procedure for all xperia phones running KK:
Requirements:
- working recovery
- be on KK 4.4.4 already
Installation:
1. full nandroid backup to eventually go back to previous any time
2. wipe data, cache and dalvik ***
3. flash my Debloating Script for KK
4. that's all! reboot/enjoy
*** NOTES
1. you can skip wiping data, so you'll keep all your personal data! But please mind that not wiping data during the installation procedure the debloat will not be 100% effective: in fact, if you don't wipe data, all the sony apps installed in /data/app won't be removed by the script! (to remove them, you'll have to uninstall them manually from settings > apps > downloaded)
2. not full wiping, you may also get some FC due to missing overlays at boot: in this case, just enter in TWRP, mount system, go to advanced > file manager and move back the whole "overlay" folder from /system/__Backup/various/vendor_overlay to /system/vendor and reboot
Click to collapse
RESULT
As said at the top, you'll get a very slimmed down KK FW, battery friendly, very fast, with less RAM comsuption etc
Of course, everything is working great here, I mean all the features I need/use!
In particular, with latest version of my script you are going to delete more than 170 packages in total (unfortunately not also all the libs like it happen in LP because of how are placed apps in system in KK) plus all applications automatically installed by Sony :good:
DISCLAIMER
If you apply my script again please take care I did a pretty massive debloat as I don't use a lot of stuff (social apps, small apps, many of the sony "addons"/special settings etc!!) and this is a working config for me, but for others some functionalities will be probably missing, so mind what you do before apply them! (but again you can restore anything anytime, if interested just continue the reading)

###########################################################################################################
REMOVED STUFF
As said at the beginning, with my script, stuff is not going to be deleted anymore, but moved in /system/__Backup folder. This way you can restore things without the need to download them from my GDrive.
At the following link you will find the full list of all stuff I moved away in my customized FW (and what you are going to move away if you flash my debloating script):
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Gof3mcFSWxP4cONuoLXPQkGE6Xnfn9tsg899rLN3ALY/edit#gid=0
PS. the file is with read-only access for everyone, if you have any changes to suggest, please reply in the thread or send me a PM with the changes you propose
Sorry, the link was not public, now you should be able to correctly see the list!
HOW TO RESTORE SOMETHING
PS. of course I also removed from my FW all the stuff that can be easily downloaded from the Play Store (Gmail, etc)
In the hidden field below you will find the restoring instructions you need to follow to restore any package you may want back:
According to what you want to restore, you have to follow two different procedures:
- all the APKs that are inside /system/__Backup/various/etc_custom_apps and /system/__Backup/various/etc_prod_apps are regular APKs that are going to be installed in /data, so you can just run them and then select "install" like a normal APK, easy. You will then see them in Settings > applications > downloaded
- instead, all the things in /system/__Backup/system_app and /system/__Backup/system_priv-app folders can't be normally installed, but must be restored in the correct /system folders with correct permissions. To do this, see the step-by-step instructions below (in the following example, I am going to restore Chrome app in /system/app and Velvet (Google Search) in /system/priv-app, but of course you can restore how many things as you want at the same time)
Code:
- with a root file manager like ES, go to /system/__Backup/system_app and MOVE both "Chrome.apk" and "Chrome.odex" files to /system/app
- with a root file manager like ES, go to /system/__Backup/system_priv-app and MOVE both "Velvet.apk" and "Velvet.odex" files to /system/priv-app
- reboot
- done
PS. don't copy but MOVE things back, or permissions will get messed up and you are likely to end up in a bootloop!
Many THANKS @ondrejvaroscak and @Puffin617 for some very good advices, @mj084 for some packages descriptions :good:

And what if I am on lollipop? How do I get this package installed? Do you have an all-in-one with the firmware together?
So if I would remove all this, and need to do a factory reset. Will it still be possible or would it crash totally?

mate look beginning of OP, red part, there is a link to a semi-all-in-one solution there, very similar to the one i made for LP
not completely all-in-one for now as you will need to flash multiple files for now, but it's very easy, and btw next week I'll upload a real all-in-one KK solution too (need fast connection to upload it )
btw if you follow all instructions in the linked thread, you'll already end up with a working debloated and modded install very similar to the one i made for LP, but this time KK based

not sure to understand correctly your question.. you mean what will happen if you flash the debloating script now, and later you will need to do a factory reset?
if so, it won't be a problem at all, as my script affect mostly system partition, while factory resetting you are likely to touch only data and cache partitions.. so after factory resetting you'll still have system partition untouched and still debloated, unless you'll wipe system too and reflash another full FW

I'll probably wait till next week unless I get really bored and decide to pull the plug. Is it going to be quite noticeable of a difference compared to lollipop? Mainly I'm looking for battery life.
