[Q] Browsing Internal Storage on a Mac - Xperia Play General

I've searched high and low for this but haven't found an answer. When I plug in my Xperia Play to my Mac, the SD card is browse-able, but not the internal storage of the phone itself.
Is there any way to do this without rooting my phone? Selecting USB mode seems to have no effect.
This is an 800AT with 2.3.3 on it BTW.
Thanks for any help!

I'm not too sure if you can.
You can use Root Explorer or Astro to view it from your phone, but without root access it will be read only.

Sd card problem

Hey all, I've been running the Droid bluetopia so long that I am rusty on posting but please forgive. Yesterday while transferring files to my phone I accidentally accessed my Linda food manager while my phone was on disk drive with my pc. I reported it thinking it was a quick fix but ky phone now says mounted card read only. I can still boot into Android from my winmo but my Sd its unrecognizable on my pc when I connect and I can't save anything...any insight. T-mobile hd2

[Q] USB access to SD card lost after Rooting

I've just installed Quarx's 120509+ CM9 on a friends brand new red lense Defy.
Everything installed perfectly, except I could not access the memory card from my PC (Win7). I can access my own Defy's SD card with the same build, no problem.
I then went back to Froyo again - USB Mass Storage worked fine.
I then Rooted Froyo - USB Mass Storage not detected by PC.
Looks like the rooting process killed access to the SD card via USB? How is that possible?
I used SuperOneClickv1.6.5-ShortFuse to root the phone (which I've used to root 4 different Defy's without an issue)
Could anyone possibly shed some light?

My own defy which was rooted in the same way is detected by the PC when USB storage is connected, so I don't think it's a driver issue.
Lost USB Access after rooting : Me too.

Even i dont agree that its a driver issue in computer as the computer drivers are not touched while the device is rooted. I think the rooting app/mechanism kills/modifies some driver program in the phone itself that makes the phone's memory invisible.
I have a moto charm MB502 and it was attempted to root by SuperOnelick, Universal Androot and Z4root apps. Super and Universal were not that successful. Z4 root worked and is still installed on phone. Any resolutions received after your last post? I want access to my phone's internal memory which needs freeing up space and its always easier to do it in mass storage mode rather than cleaning it through some file explorer app.
By the way using File Explorer app in phone i can see all the contents what so ever but can not move/shift data from SD to phone or vice versa.

The only way I can access my SD card is by using the "Share SD Card" option in the Bootmenu under the "Tools" option. Obviously this will only help you if you have this option on your MB502.

Browse Z3 SD Card

I Hope theres some Mac users here
Is there any chance to browse the SD card in my Z3C on my computer ?
Which program to use ?
Just plug it in and it should pop up the SD card, check your phones USB settings in the overflow menu of storage
Tried Sony Bridge for Mac?
It works for me.

im suggesting use "airdroid", just install the app, open it, login from your mac/pc and voila
but remember since its on kitkat, u can just browse/read the contents in sd card, but cannot edit/write e.g upload a file to it, unless you are rooted

Hmmm....thats bad. I also need to write to SD Card. Any other solutions than Cable connection ?
Use dropbox? I've used it to get mp3 files to my phone without having a cable around before. it's an extra step essentially, but it works.
No app will be able to write on the SD card freely, unless it's a system app or the device is rooted.

That's fortunately not exactly true. Use MyPhoneExplorer via USB and you do have read/write access. Works like a charm, highly recommended phone management tool. Only for Windows though...

It's still true because I obviously meant an Android app. And it also doesn't answer the OP's question because he's using a Mac.
Yes...and i want to transfer files over WIFI
That'll work only with built-in functions (i.e. system-apps) or with a rooted device because there's no other way to have write access to the whole SD card.
There's some built-in function to connect to PC companion via WLAN, doesn't that work? I can't look it up, no Z3C at hand.

MM & Formatting an SD card as internal storage

Hi!,
I have a 16gb Moto X Style with a decently fast 64GBs sd card and have it formatted as internal memory (mostly so I can put all my spotify music on it without having to deal with workarounds on the ****ty app). Everything works great and I'm quite happy and all that but I've been having issues with transferring stuff back and forth between my computer and my phone from day one and want to know if it's common or if I'm doing something wrong.
My issues are this:
If I connect the phone to my computer via USB Windows recognizes it but I can't browse it's content. It's empty.
If I use an app like ES File Explorer to transfer files through wifi I can save stuff and browse it on the phone but if I transfer a rom and then boot to TWRP it's not accessible.
TWRP can't make nandroid backups at all.
Are all those side effects of the sd card being encrypted? Am I doing something wrong?.
Change USB mode to mtp

I'm having the exact same problem. I too formatted my 64gig sdcard and can not make back ups. I get error code 5 in twrp, unable to create back up folder. I also can't browse some folders, I use fx file explorer and when I open some folders they say access denied. I have given the app permissions as well. If anyone can help it'd be much appreciated!
Haven't figured it out yet. Also can not install busybox using any of the install locations

Copying to SD card

So I am so used to a rooted G3 where I could do anything I wanted with my storage...How does one move files (not apps) from internal to sd? Additionally, trying to set the sd card as the download location for dolphin browser fails; it says android won't allow it.
What are my options?
Thanks in advance.
My Files is the only option currently available to move files from internal storage to the micro sd card. Without root there are not really any other options unfortunately.
Thanks. Sucks that it involves a few more steps, but at least there is a way to do it.
Now if only there was a way to make this phone less slippery
