did you flash a cyanogenmod rom in the past? try wiping your ext partition, possibly even re-partition your sdcard, wipe system/data & cache than re flash the rom with or without gapps, (flash if it needs it) and see if that helps..

I got the new Axura2.1 JK6 and it came with voodoo.
It says I need to disable the voodoo to flash other roms.
I have the voodoo_disable.zip to flash on the phone to disable.
I was just wondering, do I just flash that voodoo_diable the sameway I flash a rom, which is;
Rom manager, and then choose Install Rom from SD Card?
Then it says Wipe data and cache and Backup Existing Rom...
Do I leave those? If anyone can let me know this is the correct method for disabling thing, that would be great!
I just want to make sure this voodoo thing is disabled, so that I can test out other roms.
On a side note: Is there any other good roms that you would recommend?
Just flash it like any rom some good roms are axura 2.2.7 and nero v5 hope this helps you out

When I chose the Voodoo_diable.zip on clockwork it brought me to the Android System Recovery..
It only gives me the options of
reboot system now
Reinstall packages
delete all user data
delete cache data
Do I choose any of those? Or has the voodoo_disable already been flashed from the get go after choosing the file on rom manager and clicking enter.
Sorry I am new to flashing roms.
Any help would be appreciated... Just want to verify.
I just tried flashing a rom from this new Rom Manager that came with this Auxura I flashed last night and it dosent seem to be flashing my rom when I choose the zip file for the rom and select okay.
It reboots and goes to the menu with these options,
reboot system now
Reinstall packages
delete all user data
delete cache data
Anyone know what I do from here?
I am pretty new to this whole space.
Any suggestions would help... Not sure if there is something wrong the Rom Manager or If I am just missing a step.
Thanks!!
Choose reinstall packages. That should bring you to clockwork. Have you gone into the rom manager app and flashed clockwork? you might need to do that first.
I rooted my phone today, then installed Rom Manager. Using Rom Manager I tried to install Cyanogen Mod 7 RC 1. It seemed to install fine, but when it starts up it goes to the Cyanogen Mod 7 splash screen and loads for a few seconds, then restarts(not the phone, it just replays the splash screen). I backed up my previous Rom, but I don't know how to restore it. Can someone help me get CM7 working or tell me how to restore my previous rom.
EDIT: I got the standard rom recovered, so I don't really have to worry about that part anymore? But how could I get CM 7 to work if I wanted to re flash it?
Do a nandroid backup through ROM manager first off if you haven't already.
Did you do a full data/cache/dalvik cache wipe before you flashed CM7RC1?
Did you flash Gapps at the same time as the ROM?
btw the RC2 has been out for a while.
Er...no. How do I do wipe the cache data? Also, I don't even know what Gapps is. I'm quite ignorant on the subject of roms.

It really is good to do this through recovery, although if you're not comfortable with general use of recovery, I think if you flash the CM7 zip through ROM manager you can check the box for "wipe data + cache".
Gapps is "Google Apps" aka market etc. etc.. These aren't included in the ROM, and I bet you'd like to have them . The link for the latest Gapps is in the CM7 ROM thread in the dev section. Haven't used ROM manager to flash in a long time (I do it through recovery manually) but I think you can check the box to install Gapps at the same time too if you don't wanna do it manually.
Yeah, I chose to install Google Apps. But are you saying if I download the zip file for CM7 like on my pc, then transfer it to my sdcard then fflash it that way, then I should be able to wipe the cache?

And data. it is extremely paramount (imho) that you wipe all of your data/cache/dalvik before flashing to ensure you get a good quality install.
Also, make sure you have the latest CWM recovery installed via ROM manager (assuming that you do already). Its 3.0.0.5 .
Like I said ROM manager can do this, but for nightlies/RC I just do it through recovery and make sure it gets done right.
I've been downloading some custom roms off of the chinese forums, but many of them don't have google apps. If I can't sync my contacts and calender to gmail, I won't use the rom.
I downloaded GAPPS, which is meant to go with Cyanogenmod. I flashed it through recovery, but it didn't work.
I'd really like to use some of these Chinese roms, like V7, but I have to have GAPPS.
When installing any ROM I'm fairly sure you do it in this order:
1. Backup
2. Wipe Data/Factory reset
3. Flash ROM
4. Manually mount /system
5. Flash GAPPS
6. Wipe Dalvik and Batterystats (optional)
7. Reboot
I have done it this way with the CM6 and CM7 ROMS and GAPPS works fine for me.
Yes need to mount /system manually before flashing, probably need to install GAPPS before first boot.
Some devs put the GAPPS for their ROM on the forum also. Like Genokolar. You can look at the ROM post for instructions.
Ok. How do you manually mount the system?
@simplistian: where he posts the gaps? i can only find something called gms! or thats it?

Yes it is GMS. Flash it after you flash the ROM before the first boot. No need to mount /system.

With a custom recovery. There is an option of mounting different partitions.
Simplistian, thanks. You've been a great help. I'm going to stick with the B136 for now, and it runs great, and handles high end games without any problems. Next time I flash, I'll probably go with genokolar's V7 like you recommended.

all roms here work fine
make sure you format system data cache then mount system data cache in cwm before flashing the rom zip
you also need to be on the correct file system and kernel depending on rom - eg stock based kernels for stock based rom and ext file system and a cm kerenl for cm based roms
Hi my phone seems to hate custom roms like cyamogenmod and gapps because everytime i flash them a bootloop inevitably comes to haunt me. Other roms like Albe95 Ports work. http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/i9505-develop/rom-albe95-lollirom-official-1-0-t3049564
My current rom is Phoenix Rom. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2349584
The roms listed above work flawlessly.
A rom that I wanted to try was cyamogenmod 12.1 optimized by JDC team but it wouldnt boot. I followed exact instructions for each rom. Every time i used TWRP.
Could my problem be that gapps screw with the custom rom ?
Google apps are integrated in phoenix rom and albe95.
Maybe thats why they work ?
Please help.
Thank you for youre time.

You can easily test that theory by not flashing Gapps. Just only flash the rom and try to boot it.
Also are you running a Lollipop bootloader and modem?
Ive tried flashing only custom rom but the bootloop comes back. Right now i am running a lollipop modem and bootloader.

Ok do this:
Backup everything that you want to save stored on your internal storage.
1. Make sure you are running the latest TWRP. This is important because using an outdated version will not let you boot the rom.
2. Start TWRP and do a advanced wipe. Format /data (this will wipe your internal storage), format /system, format /cache and /dalvik.
3. Flash the rom.
Unfortunately that does not help. I have advanced wiped ever time before flashing rom. Maybe permisions are the problem ?

What version of TWRP are you using? And did you try booting it without simcard and sd card?
Im using 2.8.7.2 twrp. I havnt tried to boot without sd or sim. Would that be the problem ?

No idea. I'm just guessing because that rom should just boot.
Are you sure the file you downloaded is not damaged? Check the MD5 signature. For example, the latest version of the JDC CM rom has MD5:
3a1af890b87c11256c943759459ec3e4
So transfer the file to your phone. Then download a MD5 checker from the market and compare it.
Md5 matches. Looks like the insides of my phone are screwed up
Reparation your device
As those are caused by a screwed partition
As a reparation fixes this
You are going to need :-
0.a PC
1.a PIT file for your Galaxy s4 (depending on your variant)
2.Odin
3.Samsung USB drivers installed in the PC

Start with flashing the stock rom using odin. Then go for root, then recovery and then try flashing. I had the same problem but it never bothered me after flaahing the stock.
