StreakDroid 1.9.1 has options to flash a kernel that provides a higher volume.
I use simple streak
1.2, do I must change rom for that
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
Not necesserily, but it might be the simplest answer, you could flash the correct kernel from the rom though, there are, i think unless i am mistaken, quite a few kernels in that rom that can be chosen to flash, so you just have to get the right kernel out of the rom and flash it to your simple streak rom.
I could very well be wrong on this but i think thats how it works. You could even try the DJ Steve kernel available on the simple streak rom thread.

I've tried three or four Android ROMs and they all have incredibly loud in-call volume. Hoping one of you guys can recommend a ROM that works properly and fulfills its primary function as a phone. It's frustrating to see so much effort being put into fixing things like blurry MMS and LED notifications when the basic function as a usable phone that doesn't blast your eardrum to smithereens is overlooked.

Thanks!
Odd. Usually people complain about the low in-call volume on phone's. Here is the complete opposite. I would choose loud over too low any time
What roms are you using? Might give it a go. ;-)

x3, I thought I was going deaf when I first switched to using these roms.
Seems like you're a sense junkie, but if you can live without sense, I'm using cmn 2.0 by ocm and it seems okay. Also, most the gingerbread roms seemed fine, although those come with their own batch of problems.
Love cyanogen mod

Thee people on they other end of my calls always complain about loud static whenever I use my bluetooth. I can hear everything clearly on my end though. As soon as I've switched off of bluetooth, the static goes away. I've tried this on different bluetooth headsets with sesame problems.
I've also tried being on the receiving end of the static. I tested it with someone else's mytouch 4g and their bluetooth. Same problem. All bluetooth headsets used in this test were also tested with other phones without any problems.
It seems the problem is consistent between several mytouch's.
I'm using stock tmobile firmware.
Anyone else notice this problem?

Try using a new OC kernel with a new bt stack built in. I recommend Faux123's kernels.

i kan haz 10 char?
So the bluetooth issues are due to slow software. Are oc kernels different from running apps like setcpu? Are oc kernels built into roms like cyanogen? If so, how do I know which roms have what kernel?
I've read the all the stickies about rooting and roms, but don't know much bout the kernel level. I assumed the kernel was either 2.2 froyo, or 2.3 gingerbread.

No no no. The overclocking kernels are custom built kernels for the phone. Which many include different blue tooth stacks for improvement gains. It has nothing to do with the speed at which the phone operates.
the program SET/CPU only allows you to control the clocking speed at which the CPU runs at. SET/CPU in itself will not overclock the phone.
And to see what ROM what what Kernel read the ROMS thread and it'll be discussed.

In "Call Settings" you'll find a box for "Hearing Aids", check and enable this setting and you'll notice a slight increase in the volume.
Hope it helps,

Yeah I've noticed that the in call volume us a little low for me too. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Sent from my Liberty using XDA App
I am surprised at the lack of information and help on the net for this issue. The in-call volume, and the speakerphone, are very quiet. Forget the radio and driving with the windows down, a moderate breeze is enough... I press the phone hard against my ear and still don't catch everything.
I've used CM's DSP manager to boost the speaker signal, and this isn't enough.
Even with full volume & the DSP boost, there is very little crackle. It's as if the speaker is barely utilized.
I haven't met anyone else with an Aria, but every other Android phone I've seen works perfectly fine as, you know, a phone.
I've never found anything for cm that raised the volume to the level I'd like.however drowning child ported 2 different sense roms that actually have pretty good volume.better than stock or cm.

hey, idk how many of you keep up with streaksmart but they had an article about this v6 Supercharger script today. I applied it to my streak which is on streakdroid 1.9.1 with perfmod and OCed up to 1.19ghz and my quadrant jumped up from 2200 and change to 2400+ Over all with games and just daily performance my streak seems much more responsive.
Also, some games such as Gamelofts Eternal Legacy which always ran before but lagged now seems to be much much smoother. I'm assuming that's from the RAM benefits.
Here's the original V6 SuperCharger thread for anyone interested: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991276
What option did u select for ur supercharger? How do u know if its working?
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA Premium App
I am also curious which option is the most appropriate for the streak. I picked option 8 but I find the difference in speed hard to really quantify.
i used option 7 (multitasking) and my quad scores went up, which while I really could care less about the score, what I noticed right away was how responsive everything is now. Screens have no lag, scrolling is smooth.

Do you get any errors about /sys/modules/lowmemorykiller/minfree no such file or directory? I get these on mine with Streakdroid 1.9.1, however it seems to continue with the script. Can't tell if this is an actual error or just an informational warning or something.

The easiest way to tell if it is working is to re-run the script and while loading everything up it should say something about your device being SUPERCHARGED. I forget the exact wording and I at least noticed about a 200 point jump up in quadrant scores. Besides that, the little bits of lag and stutters that I had grown accustomed to are now gone. Everything is just much smoother
What's the best option for the dell streak with 1.9.1?
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA Premium App
Im not sure, i don't believe anyone has really used it with the streak specifically enough to say yet. I read through the thread a bit and from what I understand each setting is better for different things. The setting im using seems like the best for RAM optimizations for intensive things like gaming which is exactly why i chose that option. Im sure between the various users here we can try various options and eventually determine the best settings for each of us

Hi,
I flashed this ROM, and then the "Samurai Kernel 1.3". In general, things are working very well. I however did notice that when making telephone calls while I'm using headphones, only the right channel has audio. The left does not. I don't have a chance to reflash to see if the "Samurai Kernel" is at fault yet..... I remember seeing (or maybe hearing???) this bug a long time ago on CM7 with an older version of Voodoo Sound, but this kernel doesn't have Voodoo sound.... I'm wondering if any other people have seen this issue, or if anyone can tell me that it is the Samurai Kernel 1.3 that is at fault.

Well the "issue" is how headsets are designed. You have your "normal" headsets used for listening to music and have two bands and your hands-free headsets w/mic which have three bands, but the issue that arises are the single ear pieces w/mic which have two bands like "normal" headsets. Since the "normal" headset jack and the single ear piece w/mic jack are designed identically (as far as I can tell) there's no way for the phone to differentiate between them so your phone sees your "normal" headset as a single ear piece w/mic while in a call. Thus audio only out one ear piece while your phone thinks the other is the mic. Course I'm no expert on the matter. This is just a conclusion I've come up with based of what I've seen/read (which honestly isn't much) so I could be way off.
