In "Call Settings" you'll find a box for "Hearing Aids", check and enable this setting and you'll notice a slight increase in the volume.
Hope it helps,

I'm running cm7 nightly 36.I looked again but didn't see the option.I think only the sense roms have it.thx though.

Yeah I've noticed that the in call volume us a little low for me too. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am surprised at the lack of information and help on the net for this issue. The in-call volume, and the speakerphone, are very quiet. Forget the radio and driving with the windows down, a moderate breeze is enough... I press the phone hard against my ear and still don't catch everything.
I've used CM's DSP manager to boost the speaker signal, and this isn't enough.
Even with full volume & the DSP boost, there is very little crackle. It's as if the speaker is barely utilized.
I haven't met anyone else with an Aria, but every other Android phone I've seen works perfectly fine as, you know, a phone.
I've never found anything for cm that raised the volume to the level I'd like.however drowning child ported 2 different sense roms that actually have pretty good volume.better than stock or cm.

Hi guys,
I have searched and seached, but have not been able to find any information on this...
The thing is, that the music/sound quality on my HD2 running Android is really aweful. I'm currently running Froyostone V2, but this problem has been the same with all the builds I've tried. The music has a lot of bass, but high and mid tones are lacking. If I put the volume up, the sound distorts and crackles. But if I turn the volume down, there is a lot of background white noise. Also on quiet parts on songs, there is a lot of background noise "following" the quiet melodies.
So... Anyone have a fix for this problem? The sound quality when using the HD2 in Winmo is a LOT better.
Shameless bump...

Try dsp manager from the market, works for me....some sort of a equalizer.

So, in the end I like Virtuous, but one thing I *really* miss about cm6 is DSP manager. My Bluetooth is dull sounding, my earbuds are bright, and it was nice to be able to balance out the sound separately.
I tried yoinking the apk out of the cm6 update zip, but I guess it's missing something from another part of the ROM.
Anyway, this is a bit out of my territory. I feel like the answer to this would also give me a bit more insight on how it all fits together.
Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hmmm. I actually thought I pressed discard on that first post...lol
I originally was going to post here but realized it belonged Q and A.

I've tried three or four Android ROMs and they all have incredibly loud in-call volume. Hoping one of you guys can recommend a ROM that works properly and fulfills its primary function as a phone. It's frustrating to see so much effort being put into fixing things like blurry MMS and LED notifications when the basic function as a usable phone that doesn't blast your eardrum to smithereens is overlooked.
/rant
Thanks!
Odd. Usually people complain about the low in-call volume on phone's. Here is the complete opposite. I would choose loud over too low any time
What roms are you using? Might give it a go. ;-)

x3, I thought I was going deaf when I first switched to using these roms.
Seems like you're a sense junkie, but if you can live without sense, I'm using cmn 2.0 by ocm and it seems okay. Also, most the gingerbread roms seemed fine, although those come with their own batch of problems.

What you might find loud enough for your uses might not be for others! Like for me if I'm trying to watch a video on anything when I'm in a room with people talking or any noise I can barely hear anything.
I would recommend looking up ViPER4Droid. You can find the thread in the Android Software and Hacking forum. All you so is download both of the APKs (there called XHiFI and HF or something like that, forgot the exact acrynom) in the thread for your android version and put them on your sd card - there is a zip for each one and when you extract them you will get two more zips, one for 4.0 or before and one for versions after, extract the appropriate zip and youll get the apk you need. Install both of them and when you open them up it will prompt you to install a driver, look at the thread for which one to install, and then reboot and your good to go.
You then can open up the apps and there is an abudant amount of settings you can adjust. One of them being speaker loudness level.
But dont follow my instructions, the thread is very thorough and detailed! And explains everything about it, confirmed working on our device, its actually implemented into Blue Kuban already.

If you're rooted try faux kernel with the faux sound found in the market. It works beautifully there is also a beats bass enhancer that you can use with it.

I bought my s4 last night and the first thing I noticed was that the low speaker volume. I will preach viper mod. I came from the galaxy s2 running jellyverse 3.0 with viper pre installed and WOW the speaker volume is insane loud. On that phone. Thank you inlineboy for verification that this works. Ive searched and found nothing for s4, until now. Installing now ill come back with results.
Ok Back from install. I downloaded fx and XHiFi apks. Installed both drivers. In the Fx app I enabled eXtra Loud and sat it to extreme. Opened XHiFi Enabled it and sat both to small speakers. I did not tweak anything else and the speaker is 2x as loud. The ink effect lock screen is very loud now. Every sound on s4 is 2x loud. Overall Its a score. For those who want to fix their low volume problem, this is the it. I hope this helps someone. Im running stock rooted mdl. I rooted using chainfires method. Installed busybox.

ViperFX is amazing. I have it baked into my E4GT ROMs and I'm running it now.
One thing I found is the driver folder needs to be on the external SD Card to have the drivers show up in the app.

I am currently on The Blue Kuban ROM and it has the Viper Mod built in already. What settings should I adjust or is there something else I need to flash to get my main speaker louder?

What exactly did you do to "install both packages"?
I wear hearing aids and a louder rear speaker even for the alarm clock would be a godsend.
Quality and boost. Am I right g-ding?

Here you go. I take no credit for it. I found it somewhere else on this forum, but can't find the link right now. You have to be rooted. Also make a Nandroid backup before flashing. Do it at your own risk, if anything goes wrong, it's not my fault. Make a backup of the file "snd_soc_msm_Taiko_CDP" located in /system/etc/snd_soc_msm/ somewhere on your sd card in case the stock volume zip doesn't restore the correct file later.
I tried the moderate volume, and it worked great. I would do the loud one, it might be too loud.
Good luck

Check out the app Viper4Android. Not only will it make your volumes louder, it also has a great EQ which will make everything sound much better.

+1 for Viper4Android or beat music player's built in equalizer is better sounding bass in my opinion if it's just music that you care about
Note 2 Dual sim N9002
Hello All,
I used this moderate.zip on N9002 worked well however it crashes the sound on the sim in slot 2 thus no sound and microphone. The restore will not work and you will have to install backup..
Please be careful. I hope we can fix the problem as the patch definitely increase the volume on everything else.
