Will the Transformer support future versions of Windows 8? - Eee Pad Transformer General

After some Google'ing im unsure whether we will see future versions of Microsoft's Windows 8 Operating system on tablet devices such as the Transformer, or any Nvidia TegraII tablets? What do you guys think? I would love to see Windows 8 on my Transformer?

What you you guys think? Are Microsoft pushing with ARM with Windows 8?
I sure hope so!

Really? You couldn't search and add to the several existing windows 8 threads already in existance

What is up with you peoole the tine it takes to tell someone to search better yiu could have answered their question. Some people just want a quick answer without having to search all over thats the difference between an advanced user and a novice.

Guy above (and the one above him too) is right there are at least 20 billion other threads about this already.
Basic facts are that Nvidia demoed windows 8 running on a tegra 2 tablet on 1ghz and one gig of ram so it is possible main problem is the legality of porting a non opensource system and rewriting bootloaders

Quick answer? It took him two hours to get that answer. Much faster to just browse the first couple pages of threads IMO. But i also don't agree with being rude so I usually just ignore threads like this.

searching before posting is a rule, not a suggestion. It is irritating for the many of us who peruse these forums even on a weekly basis having to see multiple threads covering the same subjects, and quite a few occassions they are on the first page AND in multiple subforums. I see many say "don't feed the trolls", I say "don't feed the newbs".

Well if you rather argue then discuss that fine. I can be sure I searched the forums before I posted this topic. The matter is constantly changing with new information being leaked all the time. I read similar topics and basically couldn't find the answer i was looking for. Thanks guys ! Well thanks to the one guy who posted an actual reply. =)

totally forgot. Read those too! Those are great threads to read before posting up any questions, if you run into any trouble, etc.
One more thing...read and read and read and read. You have an expensive phone...all the info you need is here...but do yourself a favor and read for a few days so you understand what you are doing. That will limit your questions and headaches…
There are very helpful people in theses forums and they are more likely to help you after you have you have tried to help your self.

Congratulations on breaking free. Just one piece of advice in addition to the links others already posted - to make your life on these boards more pleasant, use the search before posting questions. There's a good chance the info is already available.

Welcome
Like all ....welcome the above posts have provided links, remember a couple of things, Go slow at first before changing up the phone... get used to the phone. Look at the apps here and on the android market
Look at the development section in the Vibrant forum and read alot of the posting and links about the custom ROMs. The people who made them are superior to the service provider developers.
Once you are comfortable with your background/reference education then, start modifying the phone. You are going to find this is SUCH a good phone to customize, and way user friendly than others I have used in the past. Good luck, and welcome
Welcome +1!
We're here to help as long as the question hasn't been posted 15x10^n times =) Reading is integral to learning more about your phone. Peek into the dev forum but don't post any questions in there unless directly related to a ROM you've flashed (and even then search the thread for your answer [there's a search thread button at the top of the page]).
There are many good people on the forum even when the get short tempered due to "failure to read" syndrome.
Congratulations on a wise purchase, your phone is only going to get better (we've got some great devs ).

[Q] A Very Important Question

You will all take the level of importance of this question as your own but I have had a query burning in my mind for a while.
I know that currently the Android OS is a BUILD and it takes a wm ROM to launch off, but I was wondering is there a way for the HTC LEO to run DROID ONLY and never have to associate itself or use WM ROMS ever again. Essentially I am asking is there a way to create a ANDROID ROM for the HTC LEO?
Note: Can the answers be open minded and not fuelled by programmers knowledge as most programmers I know will only give answers in the current boundaries of technology, but I do urge you to remember that at one point Computers were impossible...but they did it. I hope the programmers here do not take offence to this, I just want to know is it theoretically possible.
Thank you in advance.

100% agree with this (i often say it too), with a few exceptions tho
the big NAND question being 1 of them, if you are fairly new to this scene, it can be info overload & without reading every thread this info is easy to miss.
how does "NAND" translate into Android Rom? unless you've been been around for a while you wont know.

Throwing a ****load of roms (that are required to change their title already when updated) in one thread is gonna lead to alot of headaches unless you break down specifically the requirements of each one. I can see it now..."oh wow, I just bought this and look at all these roms. Ima load superclean 2.9 since it's the newest on my Ea28 fascinate!". **** noobs still come in here to ask how to fix there phones after flashing another phones rom...everyday. There should be a quiz that pops up asking you a series of questions about what you're about to do. Like a fail noob proof capcha. If you fail...a note pops up and says "read some more dumbass!"

lmao wow by far one of the best ideas I have seen here in the forums.
not that i don't entirely agree with some of the sentiments of the more senior members, but i was a complete noob w/ my 1st smartphone not too long ago so I can see how someone coming into this now after all of the DL09/EB01/EB16 releases can be overwhelmed...
so here's a link to a thread on android central with exactly what you are looking for
http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...ks-roms-themes-kernels-updated-3-17-11-a.html
... a LOT friendlier with a handful of senior members that seem to be on always to walk noobs through
you won't get as many comments that, although may be true and one should take note of, doesn't contribute at all to what you asked.
Again, everyone is entitled to their opinions on a forum, so I'm not making any attacks toward anyone, but I feel like you know when your comment doesn't help the OP and only helps you feel better about walking into a post that annoys you... and maybe consider that there are people of all different ages and lives that may not allow for hours upon hours of catch up reading

While I agree that if such a form existed... at the end of the day it most really be useless.
People will still have the same questions about this and that rom, and term, and version of phone.. etc... and if you combine ALL those answers into one form, well I would maybe make it too the third or fourth page before I give up and move on. Like a lot of forums now, some are a thousand pages.
I'm sure many people will agree the next scenario, which I find myself in a fair bit. You just soft soft bricked your phone, or something new is released... 20 min later you're sitting down with 5 or 6 browser windows open, each one has 20 tabs, and you have 30 new bookmarks made just case there something you might need later from one those pages.
lol... i tell you guys, its awful messy sometimes.. Especially when a friend gives me a phone he bricked and I've never used the phone before.

Wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to unlock OEM for the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G model G988U1 (z3q) and flash a custom ROM to it. I'm aware that certain models don't allow this and I'm hesitant to test it out from the posts that I've seen describing how to do it. I saw the same thing for my model of the Note 9 and soon after found out that it's not possible for my model of it. If anyone can confirm whether or not I can and provide a link to a thread that includes the sources to what I need or links directly to the things I need it'd be much appreciated.

I am new to android as I bought a Tab on release day in the u.s. In my 2 and half months of having the tab and being a member of xda I search the forums quite regularly and I have noticed something. This will make me sound like a real negative person, but I have noticed that the exact same questions get posted time and time again. I don't think a week can go by without someone asking how to get a full wallpaper or if the tab can get Netflix.
So I was wondering how many people do one of two options for forums...
A. When you have a question, do you just post it and wait a day to see if anyone answered it?
B. Or do you search the forums for your answer so you get your question answered in a few minutes of research?

Hummmm.... Search, Search, Search!!!!
But not to defend but, I'm going to bet their are alot of "Noobs" that really have no clue as to what they just got there hands on when buying something like a Tab or have ever even used a forum. I was a long time Mod on a site called MyTreo.net and remember when the Treo 600 came out... So may repost of just about everything from how to send MMS's to why does my battery keep running out. New technologies and new devices will always generate people who have never used a forum to get help. It's all part of the game brother.
I just always try and remember the everyone was a "Noob" at one point. I try to point them in the right direction and remind them to use the search function.

Yes, people don't search... but you have to understand that sometimes people don't know what to search for also, since they are new to a product. So they post the best they can their question/concern. After all this is a forum discussion, where people talk.
When I started to use these forums, I never found what I was looking for as answer.

It does make you sound like a negative person. I really don't mind the repeated questions; many users here are not native English speakers and that can make searching difficult. Another problem is that very few people know how to spell anything correctly, which also makes searching a problem. If the new thread is in the Q+A section, no big deal. Some of us are not power users but we'd like to help new folks when they arrive (just like some folks helped us when we were new).
On the other hand, what really does bother me is when someone creates a new thread complaining about 1) some perceived flaw in the galaxy tab or; 2) some irritation with other users. Even worse is when it's just a rhetorical and self-righteous "question" and is titled something useless and uninformative like "poll."

Sorry to offend you slack04. But if you hate people on this site who ridicule other users then why the attack on me? Isn't that a bit hypocritical?
I was just asking the community their thoughts on the issue. If you look at the forums you will see a wallpaper scaling post and if you scroll down the screen you will see 3 more of the same exact issue. No search is really required. It is just a matter of scrolling down a little bit. I know I have probably asked questions that have already been answered here, but after I searched for an answer. My question was meant as a more philosophical reasoning to searchering forums or just post question.
Hence the title poll. But I guess I could have titled the topic better.

I asked here for the reason which both of you OBVIOUSLY MISSED in my op which makes it relevant here. Which is did our DRIVERS INSTALL AUTOMATICALLY ON windows 8. So just let people that are actually helpful respond instead of your negativity. Also I don't ever look beyond this forum as I am not interested in anything else beyond this phone. So like I said this has full rights here.

It'd be better not to derail this thread with arguments before it gets started, yes?

Since we like to be "right" why are all these questions in the general forum.
Also you took my post completely wrong I simply gave a suggestion... you blew it way out of proportion. Please I would love you to ask a moderator to check and see if there is two accounts using my IP.... if you wanted to have a truly productive thread you would have ignored my post and marked it as irrelevant... rather than what this has become.
I do rather appologize from taking away any value from this thread.

At least things are being posted, so as users we can answer first complain later. Everyone has a complaint about the wrong section, but the day nothing's being posted people will have a complaint just the same.
I've yet to fiddle with the Win8 consumer preview myself but my laptop is suffering hard drive failure lol so I can't do too much but wait, however today's my birthday so I may go get a new laptop in an ideal world.

100% wrong-----Goron seems to be a great guy, I have seen him bending over backwards to help anyone that asks a question or has serious issues with their phone, even offering to help by remote access......Just sayin'
Back on topic though, is Windows 8 going to be an improvement over Windows 7? I never cared for 7, I am still using XP on most of my boxes & Vista on one laptop.

@ lost soul > that's a lot of work to just have desktop only and to use the task scheduler is gay.
