4 finger touch for X8 or 2? - XPERIA X8 General

Industry sources, X8 has 4 finger touch,so far,there is only 2 touch.why?

Just wait, I think somebody will someday create real 4-finger touch for Cypress, those who have Synaptics will never get more than fake dualtouch.

Thank you Cod,X8 is more powerul than other phones!!!

We, the "unlucky" ones with Synaptics, have all the chanches to get real DT. Why? Because the digitizer suports real DT (just check datasheets), it's only a problem of firmware/drivers.

Sob...I have synaptics ..

I don't think so,cause the bottleneck of synaptics can't handle real DT is not support hardware, not just firmware or drivers.

Nope it supports dual touch in a way as it is a clearpad 2000 as stated by the official synpatics technical support agent.....
Sent from my X8 using xda premium

It's officialy stated that the Clearpad 2000 suports DT via hardware. The problem is that on some digitizers, it's locked via the firmware. That's why I said is a problem of firmware. The possible solution here is to rewrite the firmware, but I guess a development board is needed for that. Without some official sources by Synaptics about firmware, I can't precisly state how to play with firmwares.

I think 2 finger touch enough, but 4 will be nice

Are you an easily satisfied man? 2 touch should take care of all your daily works, but we play more games at least need 3 finger touch,(such The king of fighters, street fighters)

Availability
The CY8CTMA340-XXX-03 (two-finger support) and CY8CTMA340-XXX-11 (four-finger support) device families are both available today from Cypress. Qualified customers can contact Cypress for more information and to obtain samples.
So everything depends which version of chip is in our X8.

Samsung i5700 hacked for multitouch, what does that mean for the X10?

Following on from THIS thread which raises a valid point imo...
The Galaxy Spica (also known as the i5700) has been blessed with multitouch support in some homebrew drivers that are making their way into homebrew kernels for homebrew ROMs, despite the official line that said phone doesn't support more than one finger at a time. Really drives home the point that "support" can refer both to the hardware's capability and the manufacturer's willingness to maximize it, doesn't it?

thought hardware cant support more than 1 finger at a time so regardless of what devs can come up with, its not gonna work??
or has someone identified what panel the x10 is using and im talking nonsense?

To my knowledge no one has discovered what model the touch panel is. Right now the official word from SE is that the hardware doesn't support it.

As far as i am concerned, i dont really care if we get MT or not. But i dont see why SE would release their top end android phone without putting a MT capable digitizer on it, whether they enable MT or not. Maybe they know it is capable but never enabled it because of copyright issues with crapple.
This is just another pointless thread, When we crack the boot loader and can put on Custom Roms we will find out if its a yes or a no, till then we can all debade the meanings of life and all the other types to topics that are there to waste time.

It might be, in your opinion, the point of the thread is to highlight that another handset of which it's maker said MT wasn't available now actually is thanks to a developer, so there just might be a possibility that other handsets sold with no MT support might not necessarily be because of a hardware issue.

I think the best way is asking a SE dev if x10 supports MT
Maybe SE will enable it on 2.1 if the hardware supports it....

xperia x8 multitouch

Anyone knows if x8 can support multitouch. Is it hardware limitation or just software stupidity of SE?
While I was reading x10 news about multitouch, the article basically said the phone developers themselves had to "hack" the phone and enable it via software.
Basically if I understood it correctly from the article, the hardware is flagged as "non supportive", while it can be enabled via software.
That above ^ makes no sense, so I'd just say it's a software issue.

Excuse me for being upfront, but you'll have to change your slogan in that mini "campaign"
The whole intention of them not updating software is most likely to just force you to buy new versions of mobile phones you already have ( x10 -> arc, x8 -> some new phone that'll come in 2011 ).
So it's all the same for them if you stick to your x8 for example, as the only thing they're attempting to do here is to force you to buy a new mobile phone - if you don't succumb to it, they don't give a flying **** cause you'll be stuck on a outdated, non-updating platform, and it's in your best interest to get off it if you're at least a bit of a tech savvy individual.
Also, people who stick with Sony Ericsson brand since their first phone ( such as myself, from old Ericsson t20e 'till newest x8 ), is their main market. No matter how bad service is, I won't change my mobile phone brand, as it's something I've gotten used to ever since I was 8 ( 13 years later, still using the same brand ), and same goes for many many users out there who don't need tech stuff like most of us here on xda want.
At least that's my point of view on it.
Sad really, but heh :\ Anyway, sorry for derailing the thread, and I signed up on facebook for the 2.2 support.

Not quite. X8 doesn't have the same cypress chip as Arc, so cypress is not 32 point MT capable. However, it might be, that it will be easier to create real MT for cypress than it is for synaptic.
And as for the camera... you can hardly find any other phone within this price range that has a camera without autofocus, and X8 has none

One more time, but this will be the last one, because I'm getting tired of this:
X8 has two types of digitizer:
One is the Synaptics (phones wich produced before April has got these), and one is the Cypress type (phones produced AFTER March). So, I'm talking obut the cypress. Believe me, I know what I'm talking about, I read a lot and searched a lot about this!

I never doubted for a second you know what your talking about nor did I suggest other wise, I'm guessing most people have the old type and i know doixanh and blagus have the old type (from there posts), so assuming a good few dev's have the old type that is going slow down development for your multi/dual touch.
It does however, seem strange that SE would change the hardware.

Sure, I haven't believed my eyes too when I saw the photo of the cypress chip. But it's clear for me now why SE put this type of digitizer in the newer X8s (BTW they've changed the screen too, not just the digitizer, _I_think_. Are you crazy? It will deliver 1440x900 resolution, 1080p recording at 60fps, 8mp cap lifted to 16.1mp, fps cap lifted to 58fps including 3D with some accents of time/mediapain.
Well, this was originally posted in brazilian Sony Ericsson official Blog, so I think we could give it a shot. A lot of people said X10 wouldn't support even dual touch, and now we have it. Maybe Sony Ericsson found a way to fix it, despite the hardware limitation, bypassing, I don't know. If SE said multitouch will come with the 2.3 update, I guess I will wait hopefully for that.
The source is in portuguese and I'm too lazy to translate it now, but you guys can believe what I'm saying or use a translator .
2.3 also brings: Full HD screen resolution, native .exe execution, CoD Black Ops pre-installed, slide out joypad like on Xperia Play, and Airplane mode finally turns phone into airplane of your choice, just like we all expected when seen it for the first time...
Also, don't forget about kexec exploit fix == stuck on SE's FW... But with all these functions, why would you want to switch to another ROM??? Enjoy
lol hahaha... iam so excited about the new GB update coming soon...
Read somewhere that the official.update will be released.at the end of July.

Pshhh dual core is sooo the day before, talk to me when you have 8 cores implemented
You need Galaxy S II, then with simple CPU reroute process via Wi-Fi, BT, J-Tag, USB and a few more solder points you connect X10 to Galaxy's CPU.
Then you take super glue, and stick the phones together. zdzihu will publish the pictures soon
It was easy, and during the process RSA key was found - it was a nice surprise to find all root, red and brown keys under the CPU on a piece of paper, hand-written with signature of SE's CEO
