Browser.apk - Streak 5 General

Could someone please send/upload me the stock browser.apk from the 1.9.1. Streakdroid? I deleted mine and need it for the google voice search. Without the original browser present, it crashes :-(
Thnx.

Ummmm, why can't you just extract it from the StreakDroid update.zip file you should have on your computer, if you don't have it, download it and extract it from there....
Nothing worse than those that REFUSE to use their mind

1) I didn't see you answering him
2) I gave him the BEST answer to his query... seeing as an apk from another source may be corrupt
3) it was a post created without any prior thinking on the OP's part to begin with

......and you interjected a snarky comment.....again, if it bothers you that much...its not the poster with the problem... Just ignore it and "let him/her" ask their question......thanks.

Damn right I have a problem. I have a problem with the noobies and the fools that post new threads without thinking for ten seconds how to resolve their issues or REFUSE to search and find answers on their own.
I was once a noob, but I read and read and read and did trial and error on my device and suffered the headaches, so I know the difference between looking for the info and not doing it, because I can tell you from experience that 110% of the questions posted by the lazies are out there, they just refuse to think and/or search, and to those like you that encourage the laziness, well xda won't allow what I have to say about that. ANd lastly, I still haven't seen you give him an answer better than my answer to extract the browser.apk from his own zip file.

And you own xda and dictacte if a noobie can post or not......ok....youre IGNORED.... next

Oh yeah, so lets just spoon feed all the noobs and clutter the forum with 100 variants of the same questions and answers and make it impossible for anyone to find anything because what YOU AND the NOOBS don't realize is that their multiple posts are what make it difficult to find answers, THEY piss in their own soup...

Just to add to this, XDA released a video on youtube regarding the noobs. In the video azrienoch (sp?) specifically mentions searching before posting. Unless mistaken, searching before posting is a site rule.
Just the other day I got *****ed at by a noob because after providing him a link to read so he could learn how to solve his own problem I told him to use the search engine the next time. The boy wanted the answer handed to him on a silver platter instead of learning. That is something I have no tolerance for.
If you're willing to take the time to learn, I'm willing to take the time to help.

Thank you so much Strephon for having my back... and you see that RICO even offered to help him find the Dolphin Browser, which is on the market, so someone who can't get to the market and find an aftermarket browser, has ZERO business owning a smartphone, they should have one of those little bricks in their hands that you can only use to make calls on and send messages....
Anyway, this is my last post in this thread.... yeah I went off on the OP, but I ALSO gave him his solution, which is actually the BEST solution, which was to extract the browser from his ROM on his computer, which is more than what RICO did...
Have a good day and thanks again Strephon

Umm.... He is having a problem using voice search because it uses the stock browser when searching. So downloading Dolphin HD won't solve his issue.
You can do as cdzo72 suggested and pull the .apk from your StreakDroid.zip file, or you can just reinstall the zip if you're uncomfortable pulling the .apk or just are unsure how to pull it out. You don't have to factory reset if you're already running the rom. It will reinstall the browser.
Also, I agree, in part, with cdzo72. However, I would go about it a little nicer than he did. Search is your friend. Many questions can be answered by searching the forum before posting.

Thnx
Hey guys,
thnx for the help.
I did use the browser.apk from the update.zip, but it didn't seem to work. Tried everything, permissions, owner, stuff - didn't show up as installed and voicesearch kept on crashing... Thats why I asked for another apk.
Yesterday I had a fc and had to reboot the device aaaaand voila: The browser showed up and google voicesearch didn't forceclose anymore.
So, now I know: After having copied an apk to the system/app you have to reboot.
Hehe...
Dirk.

Thank you so much Mike. That is exactly my point. There was no need to go balistic over someone this guy doesnt even know. Simpy providing a response suggesting the poster search for or the apk or some other option would have been sufficient , bllasting someone simply because they "asked"? The delivery of any constructive critism is well taken depending on how its delivered.
But I do understand some can only release their frustrations via keyboard. At any rate, seems the poster has a resolution. I hope hes not discouraged to use the forum and partipate in the future by this scenario.

In fact, you didn't even offer advice on the issue until your fourth post in this thread. Which wouldn't have helped him anyways.
I am glad Dirk was able to fix his problem despite the bantering back and forth however.

First of all let me say thank you to everyone here. You have all been very helpful. Now to my question. First is there any fix for this annoying ass voicer mail notifier. I dismiss it and it doesn't go away. Second of all I'm new to all this, and I dont have a ton of extra stuff on my PPC but it seems to run slow. Closing out slow, and pulling up programs slow. Any suggestions as always would be GREATLY appreciated. Also what does applying all these different ROMS do for you. I see that everywhere. Let me apologize ahead of time for my ignorance. : )

It's kinda annoying wading through the massive amounts of stupidity on here asking the same questions over and over again because NO ONE KNOWS WHAT THE F***ING SEARCH BUTTON IS FOR!!
I think it's kind of annoying wading through posts (after using the search button, by the way) thinking that someone has an answer to or a tip for a problem that I may have too only to find that someone is ripping on them for asking a question.

I am sympathetic to this point -- this forum has become so popular the key threads end up with 100's of msg., often out of sequence so it's really hard to follow when you're looking for something -- and it seems like most of my searches come up with thread references (usually the long ones) not specific msg. hits. Whether callmemoe looked hard enough on his own, I think the moderators and senior members need to take a look at the length of the key threads and cut some slack here!
There are two features that will help:
1) You can search and select to view the POSTS themselves, not just the threads. This is a big help.
2) You can search WITHIN a thread. Go to the thread you are interested in, and use the Thread Search option at the top of the thread. This will help you sort through the 800+ messages in a popular thread.
Oh, and sometimes, you just have to read ALL 800 messages!
I seldomly ask questions on here, because I lurk more, and learn more. The search button does work, tho a little tricky at first! I think some people can be a little too harsh on newbies when all you have to say is "use the search first, then ask later!" and just leave it at that. Johnnyshu0129, I encourage you to do alot of reading and keyword searching. To every question you have asked on here its already been discussed or is being discussed! Everything i wanted to know about my 8525 was relatively easy to find on here. Once youve done your research and, if theres something that you just cant grasp, then ask, because the vets on here, are really nice and love to help those who take out the time to help themselves first. They put in alot of work and time making programs and posting information that theyve discovered. All you have to do is wiki, and search button!

I think I speak for all the senior members when I say that we will gladly help *anyone* who we see as taking the time to at least TRY to understand what they're doing. Lord knows, I didn't get it the first time through, and I even bugged Pof about some issues.. But, it was filling in pieces of the puzzle that I didn't understand initially--not to ask for hand-holding.
It's OK to ask things like, "I understand that you can flash your OS and BootLoader using mtty, and also by using SSPL. I'd like to understand the differences between the two methods--is there a wiki page that has a comparison of the two?"
It's NOT ok to ask things like, "I'm a n00b and I want to install a winmob6 on my ph0ne. How do I do that?"

Because being here 4 months with 100+ posts makes you a senior member? You are only a "senior member" because of your post count. That and a buck 50 wont even get you on the train. Posts like this make your "senior" status less credible.
Why not swallow your pride and answer the question.

Well, sure.. That, and I've actually READ the WIKI and appropriate threads on here to know what the hell I'm talking about.
I even know how to use the search function! I know, it's a strange concept to some here, but, searches, and wiki reading are actually USEFUL!
I have also read the WiKi and all the appropriate posts. My phone still works, and I didn't have to post any questions. But that still doesn't stop me from answering a question. I don't think its always neccessary to grille a noob.
@teknics - that's great.. Hang around here long enough, and contribute back to the community by posting/answering good questions, or even taking it upon yourself to solve a common problem/concern, and you'll be a valuable addition to this community.
It's not about posting questions or answering them. It's about discovery and helping each other figure things out. The spoon-feeding is in the Wiki.
Oh, and the other thing that bugs me is that n00b's will create new threads when their post belongs in an existing thread. New threads do NOT get noticed 'more' than a new post in an existing thread.
I doubt I will ever contribute anything the likes of Pof or Sleuth, but I do plan on sticking around.
I just get annoyed when people act dumb on forums, so I appologize if I sounded harsh.
Charming gentleman this legolas.
Respect
I will do more searching before asking. I understand where your all coming from. And I respect that. I will reveiw more before asking questions. I appreciate the help from everyone. Maybe one day I'll be able to contribute as much as I take from this site.

If you truly wish to provide help, then your initial response should have been something along the line of: "Hey, I did a search and found this, <LINK>, maybe it'll help."
Instead of stating how stupid someone is to ask a question that has been already asked...
Any forum will have more 'lurkers' than posters, your response will not help these folks become active members here.

Why do I want the 2.1 Market Fix?
Evening,
What benefits do I gain from getting the 2.1 marketplace fix?
New apps? Better Apps? MORE APPS?!?!!!
I feel as though I should be in eager anticipation of it but I've no clue why?
Post it in the right spot, and I will answer.
From my understanding, The market fix is for users OUT of the USA. It enables them to see all the apps, instead of a limited amount.
Isn't it nice to just get an answer to your question
I guess some people dont mind being on their high horses. Like seriously, its a forum. Get over it.
Next time, just try and post in the right section. Then people wont be so snarky towards you.

Why do you have a holier than thou attitude? I understand you've been mistreated on these forums but you don't need to mistreat those who have done nothing wrong. You do a lot of great work and most people appreciate it even if they can't express it well, this has nothing to do with your dev work, which is excellent. You just come off looking like an asshole when you post things like that. You could have easily answered his question but chose to be condescending. It only makes the situation worse. You can yell at people for not searching or not posting in the right spot all you want but you need to realize that a lot of the people who come here are visiting for the first time and haven't seen all of your complaints of mistakes that almost every newbie makes. Sorry if I offended you somehow, just my views.

A) Wrong market patch is a project I have been working on, has nothing to do with being outside the US. Isn't it nice getting an incorrect answer. It enables a full market on these custom roms, allows you to switch between device specific markets, and maybe some surprises.
B) Forum is flooded, and if people read the rules they would know where to post stuff.
Isn't nice getting the wrong answer from someone who doesn't know what they are speaking of?

I know jack #@[email protected], I am just shifting my way through all this.

The neverending story....

Some of you know me, some don't. I'm more active trough PM then trough posting. But this is something that is bother me for a while and I think a lot of us.
And it can't be done trough PM, believe me, i have tried....
We all (if we are fair) know that the x10 is old mobile. And the most of us don't use a mobile longer than 2 years. So why o why read I so many post of people that are complaining about a update from a dev. Let them move on and give new dev's a chance
My personal top 3 irritations!!!!!
1) if you can't do it yourself, be grateful for everything they do for us and don't complain!!!
2) if we (the users) get a new mobile, how many people still stick to the x10 treads? So why expect a lot of people that the dev's must stick to the X10 forum and development further!!!
3) if a dev don't post for a while, don't post non related post in a DEVELOPMENT TREAD and complain about a update!!!
I have talk with a lot of members trough a personal message and told them about the post they have placed. But I think its a neverending story.
I think when the Mods are more harsher and give quicker a warning and ban people, then maybe people think twice what they post. I know that the mods help xda in their spare time and do all they can. But when you make a couple statements, the word get spread and maybe maybe this will work!
thanks for listening to my complaint
Even though i bought a Galaxy Note, i still read the first page of the General/Dev/Q&A section of the X10 forum daily.
You are right about people complaining to developers for updates, but that's just the way it is. It doesn't have to disturb you, or anyone. Most people ignore these types of begging posts anyway.
My experience in forums showed that having strict moderation won't do a thing. It will only lead to more drama. I know you feel you have to do something about this, but believe me its better if you relax and don't do anything at all. The mods know their job and doing the best they can. Talking to individuals via PM's and trying to explain why they shouldn't do this and that is not only time consuming, but as you can see, it lead you being frustrated enough to start this thread.
This thread will be read by (lets say) 1000, will be replied by 10-20, some may agree, some may not. It then will crawl it's way on the bottom of the page until a similar thread pops up. (There, just saved you some time )
Bottom line is, it's the interwebz. Don't get too attached.
But he is right though

RANT AHEAD!
Unfortunately, you are right. People feel its a right they possess to get the developer to work non stop for them. Things in the x10 forums are still relatively mild though... In the atrix forum, the CM7 thread had to be closed for a period of time due to people complaining and demanding for fixes. And the "thx" posts. Here's a classic example

lol, before this thread gets closed i would love to point out that we have had our moments here, we can mix it with the big boys
I have given up with my classic posts of
1. use search next time
2. rule number 1 is not to ask for an eta
3. read the OP
4. why dont you make a backup and try it yourself
its just not worth the ware and tear of my keyboard to make them anymore....
but, we were all noobs once, a bit of tolerance is should be given
im totally agree with you,but hey,you cant fight fire with fire, that just leads to your "never ending story"
Hi,
This is my defense, take this thread in the X10 forum...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1356580
I have just counted 93 posts deleted by moderators and with the warnings posted, about a dozen took vacations for ignoring the developer and moderators warning of being a Dev only thread. Just because you do not see warnings posted everywhere does not mean nothing is being done, most problems can be sorted out using the new infraction system, we use that all the time now, it is easy to use and straight to the point.
This type of thread cleaning and response is happening all the time, reported posts are dealt with much faster and if anybody needs banning, senior mods are available on gtalk to sort it out immediately.

You harsh, Nah. (I do however get the feeling it was you that closed my first thread posted here.) But having an Avatar that is a Happy Face , with a "Heidelberg Scar" doesn't really convoy a feeling of warm, fuzzy comfort to people. More like good mod / bad mod and Colossus= good mod; he even warns people in a very nice polite way. But temporarily freezing threads seems to be doing a great job of allowing the tensions to diffuse. Kudos for that.

You know what really grinds my gears... I've been using this forum for a while now, when I first started using it I really knew less than nothing about the inner workings of the Galaxy 3, but I have learned from the community and as such, give back wherever and whenever I can as a way of helping others and also saying thank you to those who helped me by "paying it forward", and I know that 99% of the community share the same spirit. However, there are a select few that seem to go out of their way to be unhelpful and negative towards those seeking help.
Sure, noobs post things in the wrong place occasionally, and ask stupid questions and do things wrong and then need help fixing it, but they wouldnt be here if they didnt need help and lets face it, this is about the only place left to get help with this phone, as samsung have pretty much given up on it.
Getting angry and saying things like "this is in the wrong place!" "and "did you even use the search tool?!" dont help anyone. Instead, lets help people by guiding them to the right threads, answering their questions simply and helpfully, and above all, being nice!
lets keep this community friendly! rant over...
P.s. Thankyou to everyone who has helped me here!
thanks for your warm words... you are just reflecting in some way the board rules...
Why?
oh I forgot... a new user asks instead of reading, even not the rules
And just the first rule says:
1. Search before posting.

Read it here.
Even rule 10 (10. Help others if you can.) doesn´t exclude rule 1.

I really love this answer!
I have the impression that common sense is getting really rare in this forum...
Searching, reading and understanding the read words seem to be a pain in some peoples` a**es. Using a forum and just writing any question is much easier and faster and hey... the thread opener gets informed by email when the thread is answered, very comfortable

I recognise that you remain a helpful, positive member of this forum, so thankyou for that you definately fall into the 99%
Everyone was a noob here sometime ago. When you just register to xda you are directly exposed to alot of information and seeing you get a scared or nervous and make some mistakes. The fact remains that the fellow members should not lose their cool and fire up on a mistake they themselves must have done some time ago.
And yeah, if you(the READERS) have a problem with a specific person/team/thread then just remain passive with it.
Cheers and have a Great time!
if you are in a bad mood of agressive arrogance, you should not write overbearing answers in "HELP"-Forums....
instead you should play some (non-american)-football or take a sledge to demolish some needless walls - there are more than enough of that... (unfortunately also in the most of our heads)
keep on being friendly here!!!!!!!!!!!

You can narrow it down by using advanced search though, changing the "only search title " option (or whatever it is called) really help for example. But nothing beats Google .

[Q] Can someone with Titanium Backup help me out? Very easy...

Hey guys!
I wear a Beltone hearing aid and they recently came out for an app that let's my hearing aid connect with a Galaxy S5 so I can control the volume level and various other things. I do not have a S5 and they have told us it could be awhile until it's available for other devices.
I know it's a long shot, but I was hoping someone could download the "Beltone HearPlus" app and make a titanium backup so I can try installing it on my Nexus. It's worth noting that there are TWO "Beltone" hearing aid apps and only one of them is what i'm looking for.
There is the "Beltone Smart Remote" app and that is NOT the one I need. That app is available for any device to download. The one i'm looking for is specifically the "Beltone HearPlus" app.
If anyone is willing to help me with this I would happily PayPal you $10 for your time whether it works or not.
Thanks in advance!!!!! :cyclops:
From my reserch the app that you are trying to find is for the iPhone only as of now. They did release the news that it will be coming to android bit not until February of 2015. Maybe you're thinking of some built in functionality with the s5?

They've actually said on their blog that the HearPlus app is available on the GS5:
January 14, 2015 by Ask Beltone
We are thrilled to announce that Android® Samsung® Galaxy S5 users now have access to the same discreet and customized hearing experience as iOS users with the new Beltone HearPlus™ Android app!

There already is an app in play store, called Beltone SmartRemote, but it's not the same app.
I'm guessing either they're releaseing HearPlus in the coming days and jumped the gun on publishing the news.
Or HearPlus for S5 really is out, but only in the Samsung/Galaxy appstore and/or only in the US.

Here's my suggestion to anyone who wants to help and has an S5 and lives in the US:
1 On your S5 search for Beltone or HearPlus in Play store and in Samsung Apps / Galaxy Apps
2 If you find app share APK here
PS. OP NEXT TIME ASK YOUR QUESTIONS IN THE QUESTIONS & ANSWERS, HELP & TROUBLESHOOTING SECTION THAT'S WHAT IT'S THERE FOR!

What is the point of you repeating what others have said?
It's already been said, you don't need to waste time and effort on repeating it.
Especially when it's incorrect, as far as the february release myth goes.
Beltone has already said on their official blog that HearPlus is out now on the S5.
Not SmartRemote which is old news and I've also just posted a link to the playstore, there's no need for an apk.

What's your point? I got that link for the app off the beltone site where the announcement was made. Figured I would toss it up if its something he's unable to get from his local. But next time I'll ignore the post because I might get a snarky comment from some douche in sweden.... I searched the American Galaxy app store BTW and came up with the same result. The app I listed.

First you repeat a false statement, then you post an apk which is available for everyone and has already been linked to.
Then you claim you "tried" "looking around". If you really did try looking around (or reading literally the post above yours) then you'd refrain from making your useless posts (you have added zero to this thread) or post something that's actually useful.
Fun fact, the app I posted before you (Beltone SmartRemote) isn't even in Galaxy Apps you silly lying rabbit.

That app isn't even in Galaxy Apps. Liar. And I linked to it before you, which proves you added zero. Now I'm just bashing you because you keep compulsively lying :good: :silly:

Doesn't make me any less right. And I did actually give all the info there is, correct and official info. The guy before me didn't have a clue and the guy after me didn't either but he really likes to think "who cares it's only a forum". I care, I care if you multiply false and confusing information and act like it's ok.
I'm looking for this app also. Can someone please send me the apk from here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.beltone.hearplusapp&hl=en
Hi I am also trying to get the apk. I am a beltone dispenser and have been trying to get this for android I have done some playing around with the aids and have gotten them to pair to my note 4 but when I go to the link above it says it's not compatible with my device I think the people could probly fix this before beltone at least for the rest of us samsung uses. I would be willing to play around and see if we can get it to work
Sent from my SM-N910T using XDA Free mobile app
check this out got the app here and it works great im using it on my note 4 with legend 17 and its working great
