Xperia play hardware buttons problem - Xperia Play General

Hi, im new here. And was wondering if anyone has had any problems with the hardware keys on their phone? Im having this problem where the back key often responds twice when only pressed once. For example, when im on the main settings menu, pressing the back key would sometimes take me to the homescreen. Only had this problem a while, after updating the build to 4.0 stock.. does anyone have any idea bout this? Also would be appreciated if someone could post an apk file for madden nfl as it was gone after upgrading it

its a hardware fault. mine just used to do it with the back button. But recently it's happening with the menu button too. You should send it back to sony for repair. I can't be bothered i'll be getting a new phone soon.

Oh, okay thanks.. Would send it them once this gets worse. Thanks for the response and congrats on your new phone..

Mine does this too.
Back button sometimes fires three or four times.
Going to send it back for repair when I can be bothered.

Oh, that seems worse than what mine does. Well, yeah going to send it back once it does this more frequently.

Back button unresponsive

my back button keeps becoming unresponsive, not sure if it's hardware or software related, but sometimes it takes several tries before it works and this week it's stopped working altogether twice and only removing the battery had solved it.
Had anyone else had issues?
I'm Gonna contact capone warehouse tomorrow to see about a replacement.

I haven't personally, but if you search the forum a little, you'll see that many have reported issues with the back button.
Definitely take that sucker back, it sounds defective.

Anyone elses r800x slow to respond to the power button?

Anyone else vzw xplay slow to wake up? I sometimes push the power button and it takes 5 seconds to wake. Am I alone? Maybe need to wipe my phone.

Ive had some experience of the power button not responding and being slow to respond. I thought the button was broken once, but I took the battery out and back in. And it worked fine , so it seems to maybe be a bug. Ive had no trouble with it for weeks now.

I've had the same problem. The phone doesn't respond to a button press to wake up the phone at all sometimes. Not even holding the button will wake it. I'll have to remove the battery to get it to reboot. Very annoying.
It seems very intermittent--happens just as much with a full battery as with a partially charged battery. This leads me to believe it's a software/ firmware issue, but I'm not sure.
I hope a fix is coming soon. I'm thinking of calling tech support.

Well my phone always wakes up when I push the power button. There's just a 5 second delay each time.

I tried right now n no delaying

I get this occasionally, most often when using the phone. It improved slightly when I upgraded to 2.3.3, but it still happens. There is another thread on here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1023045, still not sure what the solution is.
Out of habit I do not use the power button to wake my phone.
I have always used the Home button. I have never had a delay. Mine is a R800a though.

STRANGE touch sensitive button problem

Just got my SGS2 and encountered a really odd problem.
When using the phone while lying down on your bed aka checking email in bed, the back key registers 2 key presses.
To reproduce it every time, just slide your finger slowly onto the back arrow from the bottom left.
This only happens while lying down and is actually pretty annoying because it makes navigating pages hard.
Anyone else have this issue?

Tried it and it's perfectly fine for me..

Actually, it happens both normally and upside down. Maybe time to get a replacement, can't be firmware right?

A couple of old threads reported that the back button is not sensitive enough and sometimes would require 2 taps for it to register the command, must be something related?
When looking into buying an s2, I was considering buying a damaged one where the touch buttons wouldn't work. Upon researching so I could find a fix and buy it cheap, it turned out to likely be a hardware issue and on a side note, most of the people that had reported similar or same issues also mentioned using a third party charger/non samsung one.
Basically the kist of the signs of problems - charger thing, erratic touch screen behavior while using the charger, intermittent issues with the soft keys not working, and eventually failure of the soft keys.
But every post I saw resulted in a successful warantee claim. Hopefully the same can be said for you if worst comes to worst
Thanks for the replies,
The phone is less than a week old so I might just have it replaced.
The double tap issue only happens when lightly/slowly pressing "back". But that is very often since the touch screen is so sensitive.. I feel like this all started after upgrading from kg7 to ki2 using kies. Oh well..

Quick question for the community: Would rolling back to KG7 from KI2 using Odin void my warranty? I want to see if the problem was still there, because the phone came with KG7 installed 10 days ago.
I noticed how the touch screen immediately got much more sensitive (too sensitive for my taste) after upgrading to KI2 in Kies. It seems like it starts registering a press when a finger is just barely hovering over the glass which makes it hard to control and the capacitive keys super jittery.
Now, both the "menu" and "back" buttons registers multiple key presses if not pressing them super firmly and quickly.
I hate this stuff... I have never once bought a phone without running into stupid problems like this.
If you only tried to flash official firmware your binary counter won't increase so you can just return to stock firmware.. Check your binary counter in download mode, if it increased even by one use a jig to reset it to zero (with old bootloader ofcourse)..

I do have this issue too, but i'll just tap it very fast to avoid the double tap. Using stock from KF1 still.

I just figured it out. The double tap only happens when the lights are off for the keys. I switched to 6 s/always on and I can't get it to double tap by itself anymore. Worth trying for others with similar problem!

[Q] Anyone with home button problems?

Is anyone facing issues with their home button. My home button a little loose. A slight press kinda depresses it a little but not actually registering a keypress [you have a press a little harder for that] I dont think I handled it bad in any way. Does anyone else face this? Also, do I give it in for this? Unfortunately, I installed CWM on my i9500 so I think I voided my warranty as I didnt think I'd need it
One of my friends i9505 have a very low profile home button.. and phone is only 5 days old..
The button is working okay.. but i have adviced him to get it fixed asap.
I had same isue on my sgs3 and after weeks the button almost didnt work anymore.

Unresponsive home button?

I've been playing with my note 3 for a couple of days now and I've noticed that my home button sometimes does not work. I can feel the physical click when I push the button, but the phone doesn't respond accordingly. So, I'll have to push again (and again).
Anyone else experiencing this?
I think I'll have to take it back for a replacement because it feels like a mechanical issue, not a software issue.

That's not normal. It sounds like a mechanical problem to me as well. I would bring it in for a replacement.
If anything goes wrong and you can't get it fixed or replace it you can use on screen buttons

I don't like the quality of the home button at all. It floats around and often becomes very stiff to push. Compared to my N2 and my boss's s4 and it's definitely not up to par.
Having a business account and dealing with the reps in my local store I'm thinking about going for a replacement device(without any hassle)...Maybe I'll check it out on the display models first.
Anyone else notice this?
