Hello,
I'm using a HTC Tattoo/Click with Cyanogenmod7.1.0RC1 (Thanks!).
Unfortunatly I'm not able to zoom deep enough with pdf-readers (tested nearly every reader from market). I think I need Pinch-to-Zoom to do that. Is there a way to simulate that on my tattoo? Maybe with volume-keys oder an extra app/driver?
Without that, more an more apps will get useless, because they don't have zoom-button anymore
Thanks in advance and excuse my bad english,
Kermit
I can either double-tap or use + & - buttons. Also using same ROM. Adobe Reader.
Nope, theres no other way - just double tap on the screen and it will zoom in/out accordingly
The screen of Tattoo is resistive not capacitive so we can't pinch-to-zoom...neither with other apps

Can we try and develop some apps that take advantage of the multi touch pad at the bottom of the phone?
Maybe something like the iPhones picture viewer to zoom or rotate.
To be honest I only recently found out about the multi touch pad by using NavDbgTool.exe.
But surely it has some potential - maybe mixing it with g sensor function
you can zoom and rotate with a finger, holding the pda with one hand (just draw a circle to zoom, and a semi-circle to rotate)
oh wow what a revolutionary idea, im sure no one here, especially no developer has thought about that before......
hhmm! Help from a senior member.. usual.. Sarcasm from a junior member... refeshing
So where can i find apps that take advantage of the multi touch ?
I am aware of the circular zoom function in htc album, but i was thinking of the resize and rotate function like on iPhone and microsoft surface.
Surely "every developer" has thought of replicating that?
I have a real practical use for that pad-
On the HTC Touch Pro it is ideal for a scroll bar area. Most apps do not support the navi-wheel for scrolling, and the navi-wheel is incredibly imprecise in any case. having the area from the Home to the Back key be a scroll strip would be great for scrolling down long documents or web pages.

You mean something like this?

Hi, after loving my Hermes for 2 years and talking myself out of upgrading to the Kaiser, Diamond, and Touch Pro as they just weren't quite "perfect" I think I have found my next device. The big screen and thinness are HUGE for me, and it seems that people are having no troubles running older apps with the funky screen rez. However I am really hesitant to give up a hardware keyboard....my question is two-fold...when rotated to landscape mode does the on-screen keyboard also rotate and enlarge so that you could use two thumbs to type with it? and is this device physically capable of multi-touch as with the Touch Pro and we are just waiting for XDA devs to write applications that unleash it? Multit-touch on devices this small is pure gimmick in every aspect EXCEPT on-screen keyboards (i.e. holding the shift key). I am willing to sacrifice some typing speed for the thinner waistline but don't want to go back to pecking with the stylus...
I've watched a ton of youtube video reviews but have yet to see anyone enter text in landscape mode or play video for that matter...any info on these questions from HD owners is GREATLY appreciated...thanks!!
There is no Multi-Touch screen in Touch HD...
And I think the standard sms application does not allow to rotate keyboard while writing text...May be some 3rd party software does it or some tweaks...
Even if everyone allready should know this: Get Gyrator 2 or GSEN
and you can rotate the screen at any time. Just search for it here on the boards.
I don't understand for what you would need a multitouch screen for typing. as you are only pushing one letter at a time anyway. I have got an LG Viewty now, and i can type extremely fast in landscape mode and multitouch wouldn't change a thing. Every normal phone keyboard is made so, that pushing shift will automatically be applied to the next letter/key you press. Or you can also switch between shift always on.
So, what is the best of that apps??
Gsen I know because I tried on my touch pro, but it didn't work 100%. Gyrator works best??
Hi to all,
i anticipate a possible thread asking for a WHITE touch HD (white is better, since the iphone is white so...) to comment and ask your opinion about gyrator/gsen or similar solutions.
Apart from the fact that the iphone has it, i find all these gravity-oriented GUIs terribly cumbersome....the last thing i want to do is to extract my telephone from my pocket and start wondering why the buttons are on the right...sorry on the left....no sorry on the bottom....ah, they were on the top! the touch HD being very symmetric and elegant, should have a consistent gui orientation: VERTICAL!
...why a thread?
I'd like to know how you use gyrator/gsen and for which purpose.
Personally, for applications like navigon which have a preferred orientation i have 2 mortscript lines that makes it turn PREDICTABLY to the right direction...
The only thing I want GSEN/Gyrator for is TomTom Navigator, otherwise I disable it as it just gets in the way when txting, phoning etc.
One thing that bugs me (not Gsen or Gyrator but "gyro" related) is the speed at which Album takes to load a picture and realise I am moving my phone, from touch flow, click on a picture then tun my phone, sometimes I wait more than 20 seconds for an image to rotate, crap when you are trying to show your friends pictures.
Waiting for the Class 6 16GB microsd card to be released in January as hoping its just the slow memory card that came with the touch causing my annoyance with Album
I am using gyrator to switch the HD
lay down face up : mobile shell - now screen will be shown
lay down face down: turn off and lock the HD
from portrait to landscape : pick up a call
from portrait to reverse landscape : block a call
There should be an option for Acrobat or other ebook readers. Landscape mode, full screen with 250% -300% zoom and reflow makes it perfect for reading. I only use that for book reading. I also prefer to disable auto start with windows and only launch the application before reading a book and switch it off afterwards.
I am using gyrator only for : GPS and Opera , as it is more comfortable for me to wathc a screen in landscape for these apps. And not using it for all other apps
Hi,
I used both Gsen and gyrator and found gyrator to be more stable.
However, I have now mapped (using the excellent AEBPlus) the OK / Back button to rotate the screen on double press.
This is working much better for my personal needs as I did not need the auto rotate often enough to justify gyrator.
Regards, D
Gyrator for:
face down with stylus in: turn off
face down with stylus out: turn off only screen (pda still on, I use this for gps navigation with garmin xt)
since diamond/fuze has the Capacitive sensor (i'll call it CAPSEN from now on) ...and a seperate touch screen...
why not combine to have multi touch.....maybe you already heard this from me or someone else..but i thought i bring it up anyway...
just like the "PINCH" from iphone....
but 1 finger on the touch screen...and 1 finger on the CAPSEN....doing the PINCH...should zoom out...and zoom in...
On a Picture....
Browser...
Notes...
any other app that has zoom function
and use it as an APP LAUNCHER....for instance...
TOUCH and HOLD the Centre button with the thumb...and swipe UP on the touch screen...brings up dialer?? app launcher?? Voice command??
maybe not just app...but shortcut for Tools...such as
copy/cut/paste/
back/forward (browser)
next/previoius(media)
this is all i can think of now...cuz i'm sleepy so I will come up with a bigger list when i'm awake and fresh....
peace

thought about the same just a day ago
Nice idea, I know there has been talk of multi touch on just the screen, but that is very complicated since if you touch two points on the screen it will actually read the midpoint of the two spots.
Your idea would work like holding a shortcut combo ie: Ctrl + C = Cut
But on the phone we could touch the end call button and the screen and as you move it would zoom out......and enless other ideas!
GScroll uses the touch pad on the bottom and you can assign stuff, but not with the screen....I bet that wouldn't be to hard for the programmer to figure out......

There should be more apps that take advantage of the pad at the bottom just sumthing simple like scroling clockwise and anticlockwise round the ok button to zoom in n out like you can on the txt msg screen would be a gr8 improvement

Was thinking about this too..
What's on my mind was touching the panel to simulate "Shift" and "Ctrl" keys. Hence to be used together with the keyboard to provide functions like "Copy/Cut/Paste" (Ctrl+C/X/V), "Select All" (Ctrl+A), and also to capitalize a letter with the "Shift" function...
If it could be done, i'm sure it will be household program on every Diamond... hmm...
mmm Good Idea!!
!!!!!!!!!
but yah...also i just remembered ..that the CAP sensor is also multitouch.??? ...i remember seeing a youtube vid about that...
if thats the case..we can do so much...like the pinch effect right on the cap sensor....or swipe with two fingers....ahhh the endless features this will give us...every other phone will bow down.....
even touchdiamond2

Indeed, just zoom with two fingers at the mulititouch panel! That's great!
It should be possible to make this app, because they have that kind of application on the blackstone too! (they made an application that makes the bottom panel like a zoom bar, just like the topaz)
I'd donate if it someone makes this application!

I say the same thing..
multitouch for diamond I think is possibile..like this app nobody thought could exist [sorry 4 english]
I was think about it 2 months ago. Not multitouch the captive + screen, But multitouch on captive only (there is video that the captive sensor on diamond was multitouchable ).
I was interested with this idea, but I can't find any sample code for captive sensor (I found some accelerometer sample code), Is there any good reverences/sample code about how to get captive sensor signal/messages with C++?
( I was interested to code it, but not promises to create it )
i wish this actually goess throughhhhh but....we need more support from the rest of the forum users....i guess i have to make this TItle more appealing..hehe

Actually TouchLockPro uses the NavSensor and is written in C++. You can couple commands to capacitive swipes, 8 in total. Also I did make the source code available on sourceforge.
sounds good...I can only do photoshop....i'll try to help anyway i can......
i really would love to have Multitouch on my Diamond.
This will be groundbreaking.....even diamond 2 can't touch this..i think....anyways..
@ZuinigeRijder ---thanx

Ok hanks... I will check it...
any (good) news?
I'd love to help
I would love to help but.....
I don't know any programing or any photoshop, can someone teach me something? I really want to help the community but I don't know how
multi touch not really multi touch
I might be wrong but i was thinking that the diamond doesn't actually have multi touch, it's more like having 4 touchpads that all work at the same time. The left part with the home and the dial button, the wheel, the center button, the right section with the back and end call buttons. That may explain why the touch interface is so slow...
Hi,
Im using a wireless Keyboard with a usb-dongle (Speed Link SL6495). It works quite well (Volume, Back, Internet/Email buttons) but I cant find any shortcut for pinch to zoom!
Does someone has a solution?
kind regards
