you still have cwm/thor recovery? i thought we have to reinstall stock recovery and remove SU to update.can you please tell me how did you do it without installing stock recovery? are you still rooted?
I used one of the custom rom in the android development section, it still has root and CWM included
I had the same problem, I noticed that the GPS was on so I turned it off and rebooted and now everything is fine.
But before this I did do a factory reset.
I disabled my gps and did a factory reset my homescreen lag went away after dalvik cache and fixing permission but app drawer and scrolling my apps is still choppy
I changed the sheadule in setcpu to userspace and everything became smooth

Hi there, xda!
Lately I've been experiencing some weird and suddenly slow downs on my X8. I'm using Floyo 0.30 (updated it from 0.20 using advanced restore > system restore only) with GO Launcher. It's really weird, even if i'm not using any app it slow downs for 2~5 minutes and then it's ok again, like it's initializing again or opening some app...
Is this normal? It's becoming really annoying, because it occurs even when I'm playing a game or using Opera to browse a website...
Thanks in advance!
Full wipe? or reboot again? or you cant try wipe chace partition/dalvik chace?
You could use another launcher because some people say that it slows down the phone!
if it doesn't help try doing what howardmatthew168 said!
I recommend full wipe and format sd card
I've seen that GO Launcher had a problem in an older version, which was killing apps randomly when the phone isn't active.. Now, that's fixed and it seems it's working a bit faster... Anyway, I wiped dalvik cache and cache partition today, it seems smooth now! If the slow downs somehow come back, I'll ask for help again..
Thank you very much!
well i tested some roms like slim ics, dark night, aokp and gamerz. But i seen one similar issue which i was facing and it irritates me alot . The problem is when i installing some apps the phone becomes slow. Even when i press the menu button it will open slowly and touch sensitvity becomes lag. Is everybody facing this issue please let me know
Have you tried to wipe cache, dalvik cache and data?
Do you restore your apps from Titanium Backup? That could be the problem if you made the backup when you were on Gingerbread.

Every time i will do wipe/factory settings, wipe cache, dalvik cache and data. Rom runs extra ordinary at the first time after using some days, the phones becomes slow when i touch on menu button it will opens very slow and i checked the ram the phone is using only 200mb rest 140mb is free.
I didn't restore any apps from titanium. For every new rom i will install new apps from Google Play.
I was running cm-10.1-20130222-NIGHTLY and Faux's new 7b6 beta kernel. I had just overclocked to 1.8ghz and had run some benchmarks when I decided to get Geekbench and try that too. It installed fine and I clicked to open the app when the entire system froze and it rebooted. I then got stuck on the boot screen so I though i must have over clocked it to hard so I wiped cache, reflashed cm-10.1-20130222-NIGHTLY and the stable faux v6 kernel.
Once I got in, the wallpaper had reset, when I tried to open any paid app it insisted that "App not installed"( when I could see the package in the /apps-asec folder), i couldn't re install the missing paid apps (error -24) and some free apps had its data wiped. I though it might be permissions so I rebooted to recovery(which was unusually laggy) and fixed permissions, which didn't help.
This is the strangest occurrence I have ever had on my Nexus 4. The system seems to work fine, besides the above problems and a simple wipe and flash should fix those problem. I understand the freeze was probably caused an unstable overclock but why did I loose my data and Android cant find my paid apps? I just fear i might have damaged the flash storage somehow and am mad I lost some semi-important data. Does anyone else know what just happened?
AW: [Q] Sudden reboot and lost app data?
This has also happened to me a minute ago. Using Rootbox 3.7.1 as ROM and Fauxkernel 7b6. A lot of data is suddenly gone, when flashing gapps I can't use my phone at all anymore because the setup keeps crashing and yeah. I tried wiping cache etc but without success. Gonna do a factory reset now..

A friend of mine just updated her Nexus 4 to 4.3 via OTA. Since the update several background apps kept crashing repeatedly, but she uninstalled them before I could get her to check what the exception message was. After removing the apps everything seems to be working except the Notification Pull Down. Notification Icons correctly display in the Status Bar, but you can't actually open the Notifications. Try as you might it just refuses to open. The phone has been rebooted several times to no avail.
I've searched several threads but haven't found anything even remotely similar to this. Anyone have any ideas?
I'm not sure what App affects notifications to even try clearing data on. I've thought about removing her google account cpmpletely and readding it, but I'm helping her over text, so trying to keep the complicated solutions for when we've tried everything else.
Any suggestions or ideas would be very greatly appreciated!
Has she wiped dalvik cache? I think that not wiping dalvik can cause apps to crash.
Try to reflash the ROM and wipe cache & dalvik, and do a factory reset and optionally wipe /system partition.

The phone is completely stock, non-rooted, locked bootloader, running stock 4.3 OTA.
I'm trying to find GUI solution that doesn't involve installing a custom recovery. Thanks for the idea though.
Doing a factory reset seems like the only logical thing to try, in case you don't want to unlock your bootloader and install a custom recovery. Beware, you will lose your apps and their data.
You can try to reflash the ROM again, but I don't know what's the procedure with the stock software. If you can just apply update from .zip, than you should be able to do that from the stock recovery. I never had any OTA update so I can't help you further unfortunately.

Ok so. Yesterday I was testing around some new games. When I installed a shooter game that I found Panda Mobile Security recognized it as a generic virus so I uninstalled the app just like the antivirus told me to. Then after some time playing the other games I had found I noticed that most of the UI sounds were not working.(like when i tap somewhere the usual "tick" doesn't hear or when I type my PIN in the reboot I dont hear the "tick" either. So I tried to reboot hoping that would fix it but it didn't help me at all. At last I decided to reflash my ROM without wipes and I was sure that was gonna fix that. After reflashing my ROM again, wiping cache, dalvik cache and fixing permissions nothing happened at all. Then I tried wiping only /data in CWM and wiping cache, dalvik cache and fixing permissions and thus time when I rebooted the sound was back!!!! So the "file" causing this problem is in /data. Any suggestions? Help please
I think I should also mention that the other sounds(like in games and music) is perfectly fine and I'm running CM9 4.0.4. (qisu2011 shendu mod)

Nick, just come back to GB on the good way with dload and check if that fix you sound. There are 3 options: speaker broken, speaker wet(you can fix) or corrupt ROM. So the best way is coming back to the stock version the phone cames and check, good luck friend!
Herna thanks but I fixed it.
