Yeah wolfbreak said that long back. But for the past few versions the power widget is missing from his rom. The last time I have seen it, it was not working properly. Besides, now I have tested with widgetsoid, it aint working. I am not in need of it. But I like the option to be open. I dont like the fact that my phone has a sensor and its kinda disabled.
That'd retarded why did he remove it. It was the only way to change brightness.... Tsk tsk, the strive for perfection drives us users nuts.

Try Widgetsoid

The problem isn't enabling it, you can do that with plenty of widgets and programs. The problem is that it doesn't work.

It does. It works on MIUI, it works on Wolf's rom if you enable it with spare parts.
Never mind
It is always enabled since 1.6. SE does auto-brightness differently, it works in conjunction with the brightness slider. To check, try putting the brightness slider in the middle and try shining a flashlight on the sensor, you'll notice the screen go to full brightness.
try alzbac's galaxy rom, i'm using it and it works way better there than on Wolfbreak's rom
I'm currently using Wolfbreak's ROM, and have tried everything mentioned here without switching ROMs (I'm not a big fan of MIUI, and haven't had a chance to try alzbac's ROM) to no avail. It hasn't worked for me, even on stock firmware since 1.6. Am I alone in this?

Call me crazy... but I actually prefer the screen rotation from 2.1. With Froyo I feel like I'm fighting with it all the time. Is there anyway to bring it back to only one way rotation like before? I noticed if you disable it in the settings it disables it completely!
Sent from my Droid Incredible using Tapatalk
I noticed that too when I was running Froyo. It flips more that a fish out of water. I found a temporary solution... run 2.1 (ha). I suppose its a glitch in the way the software was written and probably could be fixed by the developer. If enough people complain maybe they will amend it.
Personal, I like the 270 degree rotation and can deal with the hypersensitivity for now.

I ran the original Toxic Baby on my Girlfriends phone, I personally havent had a problem with these ROMS that wasnt user error, and I tend to think this is too, but her screen orientation is acting strange, not working.
On home screen (with auto orientate on) its vertical, but keeping the phone vertical and opening an app, it auto-switches to horizontal. the only way that I can find to correct this is to turn the auto-orientate off, which leaves ALL screens vertical.
I've tried factory data reset, flashing back to stock (ODIN) wiping ALL data from the boot screen but the problem persists. does anyone have some insight in to this?
The accelerometer is probably busted,I'm just guessing though.

I recently tested a cappy kernel for my simply galaxy series gb rom and had the same.

I'll try that, hell, it cant hurt to. but Ive run the ROM on my phone with no problems, infact ive been torn on flashing a kernel over it just to try it, but I like the way they run without an additional MOD. of course I know no two phones are alike even if they are the exact same phone.
Is there a Kernel you could recommend?? (im kind of using her phone as a guinea pig now ) Ive been looking at Bali and deadhorse. I just dont know how they will interact with Jcc's ROM plus Voodoo.

I'd stay clear of dead horse. I really haven't tried any of the other kernels since I've been working on my GB rom. Overstock is always stable and worth a look. I'm using one of cmenards kernels on my GB rom and always used on froyo.

No flashing a kernel will affect the rom visually in no way. There may be kernel specific features that the rom dev may have listed such as bln but otherwise your cool.

I flashed this ROM 3 days ago and I have to say im pretty goddamned impressed. A few words and questions.
First off, I love the stock look from 2.1. 6 Bars for signals, stock moto launcher. That has got to be the most important for me because everytime I flashed a froyo build the launcher would include just the app drawer and no dialer or message buttons like in stock 2.1. The haptic feedback is crisp and works in a few places. Like the dialer and 4 buttons below. The thing I love most about this ROM is is the built in moto LED notifications. I always missed that on the froyo builds and tried using apps like LEDme now and others but it just didnt cut it. The media button works. Its really fast and overclocked its a beauty. The only problem I found with the dialer was the number format and I dont know WHY that should be a problem for anyone. A cool thing I noticed with the dialer was you can block calls from inside the dialer. Love the stock appearance. Okay I dont know what issues you guys have with SMS. All I did was install keyboard for gingerbread longpressed the text input space and chose the input method. It replaced the stock keyboard and everything is fine. The SMS has nice solid black background compared to the grey in dexters and CB's which I assume saves battery. Also you have extra SMS options like pop ups. All apps work great and fast. Over clocked at 1000 mhz, 74 vsel it works as a charm. I use autokiller at moderate and never felt any lessening of RAM or slowing of the phone. About the APN settings yes I cant choose them but for some reason it picked up the settings itself and my data connection is active. I have an unlimited plan so its always on, for those who dont theres a power control app called switch pro you can turn off data along with another bunch of functions. Its basically an extended power control menu. It also has a nice UI. Camera works nicely and over all I just love the stock feel. I have had no signal problems its actually really good. WIFI signals are keeping well even though my router is far away and with froyo I used to get only 1 bar. Apps like Google+ work nicely.
Issues/Questions: I fastbooted into fjfalcons boot4.img. For some reason it became really slow and I had to reboot without it and now its fine. In set CPU half of my swap was active without even running any apps. I use 91 mb linux swap on my SD card like in reverends video from the old khal rom days. Besides that I want to ask about the super sleep mode button, what does it do? When do i activate it? How does it work? etc. By the way im using M7's patch with extended menu's. Umm besides that I tried installing root explorer but it already has its own korean RE, and I cant install root explorer on top because it says system app cant remove. Theres also another browser which in in korean but I just ignored that.
Besides that I have had no Issues with this ROM. Seems very solid and suitable for everyday use. I flashed directly from CB's froyo without reformatting my SD. All my apps were preserved and I had no issues booting this ROM up. I did loose the calvin bootloader img in the start which is now replaced by the official moto M and a sexy T logo after works. All in all I feel this is a keeper, after trying literally every ROM on this forum atleast 2 dozen times. Thats my review as a normal moderate user. I don't play many hardcore games and use my phone for calling, sms, browsing and photos.
Please post your opinions and experiences. And any bugs. Thanks!
How is it's speed compared to miui? does it beat miui?

It feels like an official update from moto
If the dialer and messaging were fixed (americanized), I bet cincy bell would backtrack and call this the official update, especially with a swype keyboard.
Sent from my XT720 using XDA App
Just curious, does swype really feels that great? Cos im using swiftkey and i feel that i type much better there :/
I'm not a huge fan of swype. My favorite keyboard actually is the stock gingerbread keyboard. I really fly with that one.

Yeah, well that's kind of the issue. Sometimes works well and types fast, other times it misses my words. Too many misses makes the gingerbread keyboard my default for speed and reliability.
But Swype also lets you type normally as well as swype to type.

I think the speed is comparable to miui, but its way more stable with very few reboots or any other problems. Could someone comment on the battery life? I'm getting a day with low use. I flashed from the CB Froyo does that make any difference if I don't flash 2.1 Korean first. Kernel issues?

Nice review! But how did you get LED-notifications to work? They don't work here w/o LEDmeknow.
Battery life here is somewhere between 2.1 stock and 2.2-ROMS on here.

It was in the display options. LED Notifications and periodic notifications just like in 2.1. After I selected them I got the flashing 4 bottom LED's which would stop after a few seconds and restart every 4-5 minutes.
My battery life for me sucked bad even after calibration, so I flashed stock 2.1 signapore sbf to see if that changes anything. I heard there are kernel issues if you dont go back to stock. Also memory leaks.

Just a small update. I was getting really crappy battery life, so I decided to flash the stock singapore SBF and then reflash WanHu's ROM. I took it right from scratch. Root with Universal android root which is so much easier than superoneclick. I tried superoneclick though and it didnt work, maybe because i was trying to do it under MONO in linux. After that I applied the Mioz Patch!
Okay here's where the weirdness starts. First all you guys must remember that annoying ugly korean keyboard and the weird gestures keyboard in the sms, well after the sbf flash my ROM has kept its old android 2.1 keyboard WITH the original haptic feedback. This wasnt there when I flashed directly from the CB froyo. Also Im getting haptic feedback on long touch in the homescreen along with the 4 LED buttons.
Hope this helps. Im going to do some more exploring!
EDIT: Okay so the keyboard is FC on me. It was fine when I was putting in my google info

went from leaked gingerbread back to syndicate 1.1.0 and now the autorotate doesn't work, only when i open the keyboard. I did all the fixes, it still doesn't work, any idea how to fix it. I wiped data and everything, still doesn't work.
Try this
Did you calibrate the accelerometer first? That might fix it. Mine get kinda wonky after reflashing and especially after using Odin.
i did the calib_yamaha, I calibrated the sensor, nothing did anything, I flashed the gb leak again and it works fine, I flash back to sf 1.1.0 and it doesn't work, so now I'm stuck on the gb leak which is a problem because the phone barely works and keeps dropping calls so I really need to get back to froyo.

Are you referring to rotating the home screen, or any and all apps? I might be mistaken, but I don't think TouchWiz rotates the home screen, at least not without sliding out the keyboard...
Also, I would recommend upgrading to SRF 1.2, it's even better than 1.1

Well, because 1.2 *is* different than 1.1 - hence the change in version numbers...
Why would you expect the two to be exactly the same? Kind of a silly question
A better question would be, "WHAT is different between the two, that would cause the auto rotate problem in 1.1?"
I don't know that answer, though... I think it may have been tied to the fully loaded version, because I remember experiencing it only once - when I briefly tried fully loaded, before going back to standard

Ok let me clarify my post. Running SR v1.1.1, rotate worked fine. Flashed Revoltion rom, didn't like it, few things didn't work like autorotate.
So I flashed another rom which fixed it, chose SR 1.2 to give it a try. If I flashed v1.1.1 that may have worked also.
so can we get back to the issue, i've tried 1.1.1 and the autorotate doesn't work. it appears to be a froyo issue as it worked fine for months and months and now only gingerbread roms will rotate. could that be because i'm using eh17 modem? i wouldn't think so.
robl45 said:

Well, one or many of the changes between 1.1 and 1.2 might have affected rotation as a side effect - whatever caused the glitch in 1.1 must have been changed for a completely unrelated reason, and the glitch disappeared...
I think, from what you've reported, that it had something to do with the extras in the fully loaded version - that used a hacked TW, right? 1.2 doesn't have a fully loaded package that I'm aware of... But try the standard version, or just use the most recent version since it *is* better

It does nut appear to be a froyo issue, because 1.2 is froyo without the issue... In fact, so far the only froyo that appears to have this issue is the fully loaded version of 1.1... Several examples of froyo without the issue vs one with the issue would indicate that froyo is not the problem at all...
Unless I missed the part where you duplicated the issue on several other froyo roms - all I've seen mentioned is SRF 1.1 fully loaded... Have you seen the problem on 1.1 standard edition?
But you are correct about the modem having nothing to do with it
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
well you could be right, but i've been using the 1.1 for months and months, longer than any other rom and havent had a problem, and I've run many other roms, never had a problem. only time i've ever seen something like this is since running gingerbread leaks, now they work and the old one doesn't, I've flashed that same rom probably 10 times, never had a problem, gone from bonsai to that one and back again, never a problem so I would doubt the rom would have anything to do with it. I'll try the 1.2 if I can get it downloaded. last night the page wasn't coming up.

Perhaps a full odin back to stock froyo, then reinstall everything from there...
I'm wondering if gingerbread updated something that froyo relied on for sensor data (this is a long shot, falling under the category of "I don't see how they're related, but why not?")
Otherwise, it *almost* sounds like a hardware issue - except that you said it works fine on gingerbread... well, unless GB is using a different sensor reading...

i've only run gb for like 2 weeks, was working fine on froyo, can't understand it. I did download srf 1.2 last night as the site would come up now. so i might play with that this weekend, although the GB is working now and making phone calls without dropping so aside from random reboots its working. kinda makes it hard to sell the thing eventually though if it won't rotate.
well I put on the srf 1.2, autorotate works fine, im perplexed as to why that is since autorotate worked fine for the 6+ months that I ran it and i've never had autorotate stop working on any of the 3 epics i've had and any of the roms. but at least its working now and i have a stable phone.
Okay, so I'm looking for a little input here because I am torn. I was an avid flasher and supporter of the AOSP ROMs until I got this phone. I used CM and PA and a few others just to see what I liked but none of them offered quite the features and stability of pure stock but this is where I am really struggling.
For the longest time this phone was super fast. It did what I wanted it to do when I wanted it to do it. I'm not much for the keyboard so I installed swype and that seems to be where my problems began. Since day 1 the messaging app was always a disappointment. It would lag, not open fast or when it did open in a message i would have to close it to get to the messages list. When I added swype to the mix it just sucked. The touch responsiveness was late and slow, a lot of times the keyboard would freeze up and i wouldn't be able to do anything for a minute until it would unfreeze. I just don't see why it's doing this because it has 2 gb of ram and a beast processor.
Anything you guys could add to help? I love the phone but it's getting to be about as slow to use as the Droid Eris
Pretty sure this thread is supposed to be in the Q&A section. Don't be surprised to see it closed. Regarding your issue, to say your G2 is as slow as the Eris is a bit of a stretch. I don't doubt you're experiencing some lag, but saying it's as slow as a phone with 288MB RAM and clocked at 528 MHz is a little ridiculous.
You say you encountered these problems after installing Swype. Perhaps get rid of that keyboard. I personally use the stock Google keyboard as it can be downloaded from the Play Store.
And seeing as you're rooted, perhaps look through the development section for your particular variant to see if there are any optimized stock-based ROMs that might help speed things up.
Flex rom + g.lewarne kernel.
More feature and faster
What stock features? IR Blaster and Camera are available. Knock wake works.
I only used stock about 24 hours, but I didn't see much else compelling.. Quick Slide? Ugh. Quick Apps or whatever? Useless. Navbar customization? CM or AOKP can do that, etc.
If u have lag on stock, use a task killer to clear RAM when screen is turned off... Also root and use the fstrim app to TRIM your G2.... Mine never lags after this...

I feel as though I shouldn't have to clear ram considering there is 2GB of it.
And even though there is that much ram shouldn't android manage that in the background.
I do realize that TRIM isn't implemented in android until 4.3 but still...

It's more or less the camera that I really want. The aosp one is so minimalistic and lacking features but all of the ported lg cameras have features that don't work or are baked out of it to make it work. I also really enjoy knowing my phone can work 100% of the time without SOD's and no GPS (I do a lot of traveling in my free time). I need to know that if I am stranded in a town I don't know of I can pull out my G2 and call someone without any feedback or echoes and no drops in data

So the one feature you want, stock camera, works fine in other ROMs. I believe there is a few things disabled in it but not much. Here's the list from the stock camera thread:
No Object Tracking. You know that thing where a grid of little boxes shows up on the screen and one of them will turn green as the camera focuses? That's missing.
No Audio Zoom. It's still enabled in the UI, but I've patched out all the methods relating to it, as they caused crashes.
No transparent navigation bar.
No rotating navigation buttons.
Performance tuning - it's possible that this will run slower than it would on an LG ROM. The LG rom includes a class called
(Not on the list on the thread) - Front-facing camera may or may not work
So yeah, object tracking is really the only functional change. Autofocus works fine, just not the little green boxes. Whatever the difference is. And avoid using the front camera.
AOSP camera is minimalistic, but what features are missing? Do you really need 10 scene modes? No. Let's be realistic, the AOSP camera isn't doing well with low light or close-up flash (blows the photo) so there are problems but overall it works okay. And the ported stock camera works fine except for one minor feature.
GPS works, no call echos, no drops, no SODs etc.. I have had none of these issues on AOKP. GPS there are libraries missing from the AOKP build, but the files to flash are right in the OP. Stock camera, Quick Remote, etc all works fine too. I can't speak for any other ROMs. Rohan32's AOKP 4.3 is the ROM I'm using.
Uninstall Swype (I and other people I know have lag issues with it eventually), use the Google keyboard. Use Nova Launcher (Nova Prime would be ideal) set animations there for very fast or off, install Screen off and Lock for Knock off feature and set it with the Double tap gesture in Nova. Install LagFix for TRIM and run it. Go to developer options and turn off all animations. Hope this helps.

If u have lag on stock, use a task killer to clear RAM when screen is turned off... Also root and use the fstrim app to TRIM your G2.... Mine never lags after this...

Thanks. I don't have mine rooted because I want to keep stock full stock. But what I have found is that clearing the ram after shutting off the screen actually helps a lot. I have had much less lag since I did that.
Something funny happened today. I went into texts and set the auto delete to after 1000 texts. Talk about the problems that followed. My phone was completely worthless. Even after closing the app and then restarting the phone. I have over 5k texts in one conversation between my girlfriend and I so I thought that might be making the stock messaging app run slow. But the auto delete didn't work at all. After spending about 3 hours trying to get back into the app I had to turn it off before I could do anything...

if you root you don't actually lose any features you just "unlock" the phone to get extras. the only time you can lose features is when you flash a custom rom. even if you flash a kernel you don't lose anything.

Oh believe me I am fully aware of what rooting and flashing Roms and kernels does to my phone. I've been an avid android user for a while. I have been flashing since the eris but on this phone I always end up back at stock but I always lose info when I revert back to stock. I don't want to flash anymore. I just want my flagship phone to work like it was worth my money
Changing to row and interactive got rid of the very tiny bit of stutter I had once and a while. The "lag" is really just the the CPU waiting on the system to tell it to clock up. Stock profiles are too slow.

My only issue is that I took the ota for Verizon and that broke root and I haven't found a successful exploit yet.
