LG G2X or Samsung Exhibit? - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Alrite ... T-mobile supposed to send me the replacement for the MT4G but they don't have anymore in stock. Now they are asking me which one I want instead of MT4G. T-mobile LG G2X or Samsung Exhibit? Which one do you think is better? Thanks in advance.

get the g2x, exhibit is garbage.

Thanks you. I read couple posts from the g2x forum... it seems like g2x is the way to go.

I called Tmobile after you posted because I've had all kinds of battery issues even after replacing the battery and they are going to expedite ship me a Mytouch 4g slide! Guess today is a good day to call in! Thanks man!

wow... that's awesome! you're lucky.

My lock buttons messed up and when I called in yesterday they told me the same thing. The exhibit looks like garbage, but the g2x looks real nice, but I don't like the stock aosp. I just don't think I would be happy with it after owning a mytouch. I'm used to sense and plus the mytouch has a lot more roms to choose from. So I'm sticking with my mt4g. Just my opinion though.

Yeah ... but if I have a choice, I rather stick with MT4G. My MT4G has prob... the earpiece doesn't work so I have to

Doesn't it get you mad that almost everybody is giving the g2 a bad review!!

What gets me pist off is that if its not a droid or any vz phone they start talking bad s*** about this phone..I coming off of vz n I had the moto droid..I loved that phone..so before I sold that phone I swiped the sd card so I have a 16gb sdcard on my g2..so low memory that is out the door..other bad review that they give signal..it doesn't matter what carrier or phone u have it all depends where u live!!..I do have crapy reception inside my apt..but I also had horrible reception on vz too..hinges r fine there not gonna fall apart..it is blazing fast..no glitches at all smooth as f***..better keyboard than anyother phone out there..oh and the battery issue..I did have problems in the beginning but not nomore I'm thinking that's a problem when there brand new..dnt know..but mine is fine..sounds good speaker is fine..I love my g2..maybe missing hdmi and a front facing camera but far from that is better than other phones out there..like droid x iv played with it, iphone 4 played with it,droid 2 played with it,the new blackberry torch played with it..the only phone that might be number one is the evo iv played with it..but sprint is offering it..iv had sprint before and I hate sprint so to bad..but right behind the evo it is a really good phone but right behind it is the tmobile g2

love my g2. have used my friends droid's x's and 2. and they do not compare to the g2. other than the bigger screen. none of the droid series phone compare to the g2
numerous friends that have the droids have told me personally the G2 is nutz. most people bad mouthing the G2 are the haters that dont like the fact that the g2 is just a better phone.
EDIT: o and i havent had any issue with service/signal. my hinge may not be as tight as some, but i dont see that as an issue in no way shape or form
Are you talking specifically about people around XDA?
I don't know that I've seen a bad review of the G2 from all the big gadget sites. Engadget and Gizmodo both said it was great, CNET picked it over the Epic 4G.
Not really... what matters to me is my opinion of the phone.
Not really sure whos giving it bad marks? i havent heard any negative feedback less the weight of the device. its the fastest android phone ive played with.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, as long as you are satisfied with your phone thn you're good

Every phone has its flaws, I been through many devices including the nexus one and to me the g2 is my #1 device!
Best phone I have ever owned, stock android is the future.everything else should be optional. Looks are super star. overclocking it has made it a dream. I will not need another phone till technology significantly changes.

Nope... to each his/her own. All I care about is MY satisfaction. Could care less about other peoples opinions not even yours! Lol no offense.
Posted on my T-mobile G(spot)2 xD
This is my first Android phone, coming from the Blackberry Pearl and I'm enjoying my experience. The idea of open source drew me in, along with its design and keyboard. I've done my share of finding reviews since I was debating on this or the Samsung Vibrant.
Can't say I've seen a bad review yet, but this phone is great!
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
Dudes what reviews are y'all reading Engadget gave it 8/10 and CNet gave it 4 stars. The only problem is battery life for me (I'm playing Super Robot Taisen on gameboid emulator). The hinge issue is not that serious just don't hold your phone upside down and your okay. Mind y'all I use to only use iPhones but I gotta say I'm glad I got the G2 over the Vibrant and now using Android.

I'm plenty pissed with this godawful phone. Its the finest machinery ever but this thing is delegated to being a $6%8#& brick until permanent su is established. I'm so tired of rooting it every day that I've gone back to my G1 for daily driving.
I am pissed!!!!!! Feel so betrayed by htc and tmobile.

Not really; It is actually pretty normal for a new device. "Hey I love my phone and have no problems with it" threads are fairly pointless beyond cheerleading. "I have problem X, does anyone else? Is there a fix?" on the other hand can let you gauge if your problem is wide spread and give an idea as to whether to call support. It also helps people who have not purchased yet get a gauge of potential problems to look for.
Once the initial rush (2 or 3 months) is over and the phone is rooted the complaint threads mostly dry up.
The flipside is that the "I am returning my phone" threads are as pointless as the cheerleading threads.

reason not to dump your G2 for the mytouch hd

Mytouch 4g just has a ffc but nothing to die for same phone without a keyboard and a .1 inch bigger screen
Im keeping my G2 because my last MyTouch 3g 1.5 was a piece of junk.
Also, you get stock Android with the G2.
It appears that the reason you're giving is an opinion. Does this REALLY require a new thread?
There are some people here that would use a front facing camera, myself included.
Also, it's been said that the new mytouch is very well built, and running a next generation snapdragon cpu. Spec-wise, this will be a very nice phone.
well actually i like how thin the new mytouch 4g is and the OS runs pretty well. Plus u get the wifi tethering, uma, and has htc sense ui on top.
at least wen i press the trackpad it will allow me to unlock the screen instead of pressing the power button up top.
also the ffc is not very good video was choppy and laggy...it is using the quik app same as the one on the EVO
the material on the mytouch is not good as the G2

FFC helps future-proof your phone since more devices will ship with FFCs in the future. Vanilla android is more of a reason to keep the G2 since we SHOULD receive updates faster than skinned versions of android. The physical keyboard is nice but it definitely isn't needed by most people or necessary for most applications to function (can''t think of anything outside of emulators).

*buzzer sound* Nope, it's not truly Sense UI. It's Sense with a custom skin on TOP of Sense, the Expresso skin that came on the Slide. So it's really a bastardized Sense. *vomits*

Seeing as I own both I can tell you they only thing I miss is the SLCD. Such a difference. Also the MT4G has 768mb of ram. As for stock ui I already use ADW Launcher so it looks the same. It really all just comes down to what your needs are. As far as build quality this mt is very solid, Same if not better than G2, no moving parts =)

Cool man. You treat that g2 like its your all. Will I use the ffc? Ehh most likely not, don't care much for video chatting. But I have the option Am I going to get the mytouch 4g since I already know what the g2 has to offer? Ehh hell yea. The only reason why my g2 is rooted is because I tether heavily. If the mytouch already have it as a native app, why not.

Because it's not based on the stock android. Please someone, correct me if i'm wrong, but the tethering option on the MT4G is the one T-Mo will use to charge you $15 a month on for using. With the G2 you are currently tethering for free without the providers discretion.
Native tethering on the MT4G, (and possibly on the G2 from the OTA) will mean T-Mobile will be charging that tethering fee just like the other carriers.
That's why they are implementing the 5GB data cap so even if you are tethering on a rooted phone, you won't cost them tons of money.

Pulled the trigger, and made a change

Put it this way, the only thing that the mt4g has that the g2 doesnt is a FFC and a crappy version of sense.... I believe the other hardware is the same? (processor etc.) also the g2 has a keyboard, which is always a plus
Much better choice over the mt4g.. unless you wanna take pics of yourself easier.. then I guess you'll miss out on ffc. Not a day goes by I don't miss my mytouch..

I had the g2 when it first came out, but afraid that it wasn't going to get fully rooted (droidx), returned it. And now I'm picking it back up.
To me, it's the fastest android phone out right now, and the keyboard is always a plus.
I will miss the form and the keyboard on the g1 though.

The Desire HD has been out and is rooted and has CM 7. I predict that on 2/13/2011 you will be able to root and install CM 7 on the Inspire by that evening.

No the captivate is not better then the aria for a phone in my opinion, but it depends on what u want to use it for. its better for battery life, web browsing, and gaming..but i wouldn't buy another samsung..I would personally reccomend the Inspire if u want a bigger screen. and if your looking for a keyboard
go with the NAM (BELL) Desire Z. works perfectly on att 3g if u get it unlocked

Goodbye friends

After 10 months of having an Aria I have decided to move to the Inspire. I'm gonna miss you all. This was the perfect community, lots of hard workers and not very fast moving, like the Inspire one where you post and 2 minutes later you have 20 new posts on top of yours. I know now for sure that teh Aria is indeed the best size for a phone. I'd like to say thank you to CallMeAria, GenePoole for making the best ROM ever, DrowningChild, Jznomoney and everyone else who worked hard for all of us to enjoy the best ROMs and apps. You're all fantastic people and I hope you stay that way.
I'm looking forward to see some of you over there. Goodbye!

You're lucky that I still come to this forum from time to time to see if I can help on anything. I'm loving the Inspire, the camera is great actually. Most HTC's phones come with crappy camera but the Inspire is excelent in outdoors and very good indoors, the double LED flash works like a charm. It also comes with face recognition. More important there are some fascinating ROMs for the Inspire. The best you can get is TB Fusion 1.9 that's Gingerbread with Sense 3.0 weather, lockscreen and SMS. Works blazing fast and is very very stable.

Like tpblake said before. Just use attn1 hack kit and it is very easy. It's almost easier than rooting the aria. Just read the manual and follow the steps.

Just use attn1's HTC Inspire Hack Kit v11. The current version even creates a goldcard for you.
As for my year old Aria, I'll be getting my HTC Incredible S tomorrow.

But isn't the Incredible S not compatible with the US bands? Are you going to use it on T-Mobile?

Bell Canada has a NAM version that works perfectly on AT&T HSPA.
I have one, and we did CM7 for it already.

No, I got a Candanian NAM version off of ebay. My wife has had an EVO for almost a year and I just couldn't get use to a 4.3 inch display like the EVO/Inspire has. The Incredible's 4 inch screen should be just about right.
