Anyone else thinking of getting the inspire or any new 4G phone?
Don't get me wrong I love my Aria, its one of the best phone I've own. With that said I'm leaning towards the Inspire aka Desire HD.
Just want to see what you guys think.

Oh I'll definitely be jumping on the Inspire. I don't know if its gonna be my primary though until someone can get it rooted. I fear its gonna have an Hboot that hasn't been cracked yet but once it gets rooted and has CM going on it its gonna be a beast!

The Desire HD has been out and is rooted and has CM 7. I predict that on 2/13/2011 you will be able to root and install CM 7 on the Inspire by that evening.
I can only hope that it has the same hboot as the European one

Nope, It is confirmed that the Hboot on the Inspire is different than the DesireHD. "HBOOT-0.85.0019" on the inspire, which has the exploit used for the desireHD patched. but there may be another way that will be tried feb 13th

Its a great device, but i personally hate the cheap plasticy feel of it and gps works when it wants but not all the time, other then that its fast and has great battery life. but the lack of CM7/AOSP is a downside in my opinion. so im selling it and getting the inspire.

No the captivate is not better then the aria for a phone in my opinion, but it depends on what u want to use it for. its better for battery life, web browsing, and gaming..but i wouldn't buy another samsung..I would personally reccomend the Inspire if u want a bigger screen. and if your looking for a keyboard
go with the NAM (BELL) Desire Z. works perfectly on att 3g if u get it unlocked
i'm totally getting an inspire, especially since i have an upgrade available on my account so it should only be $99...don't know if i'm going to sell my aria right away or not though.

Yeah guys, I would not buy the Inspire the day it comes out until a confirmed working root is known. It comes stock Android 2.2 and it is a little trickier to root.

I love my Vibrant....just remember the G2 is hardware locked for rooting. There are some sweet roms for the Vibrant. And if you're hot for Froyo....there's a rom for that. The main issue is the Gps still has a few kinks to be worked out....other than that you'd have to pry it from my cold dead hands.

I would and am waiting to see what is offered during Q1 of 2011... G2 may be "locked" but it's not hardware, besides the Vibrant still hasn't seen a stable 1.4GHz OC.

It hasn't been confirmed that it will remain unrootable. Last thing I read cyanogen and crew were working on it and have said it will be difficult but they will find a way just like they have with other pita phones like ours.
Yeah I just checked the HTC Vision dev forums and they already have a one-click temp root, so I imagine a full root wouldn't be far off.

Why are you selling it?its a bad ass phone. My wife has 1 and she loves hers. 2.2 update will be soon on it so anything you get today or tomorrow will have 2.2 on it. What's the point? It's cheap for a 4.3 "superphone" at $100, but it's outdated the second the Atrix hits the market, so I'll pass. Not to mention the battery life is supposedly worse than the Aria, if that's possible.
Honestly between the inspire and the atrix I would go with the inspire hands down. Doesnt look very promising for new kernels and such. And I have no doubt that the xda Gods can get that inspire to smoke the atrix, plus I have always perfered htc. Now if the bootloader wasnt signed, atrix all the way.
I think I am gonna see what comes out later in the year. The aria is still ok for me now, but I am def getting the itch. Congrats on the new phone.

Rooted yes, but the bootloader is signed. This means that your never going to get a new kernel. you may be able to flash a rom with some crazy work arounjd, but we all know how vital the kernel is. So much for overclocking and utilizing that powerhouse of a phone.

I'd like to say thank you to CallMeAria, GenePoole for making the best ROM ever, DrowningChild, Jznomoney and everyone else who worked hard for all of us to enjoy the best ROMs and apps. You're all fantastic people and I hope you stay that way.

You're lucky that I still come to this forum from time to time to see if I can help on anything. I'm loving the Inspire, the camera is great actually. Most HTC's phones come with crappy camera but the Inspire is excelent in outdoors and very good indoors, the double LED flash works like a charm. It also comes with face recognition. More important there are some fascinating ROMs for the Inspire. The best you can get is TB Fusion 1.9 that's Gingerbread with Sense 3.0 weather, lockscreen and SMS. Works blazing fast and is very very stable.

No, I got a Candanian NAM version off of ebay. My wife has had an EVO for almost a year and I just couldn't get use to a 4.3 inch display like the EVO/Inspire has. The Incredible's 4 inch screen should be just about right.

Also, if it wasnt able to be rooted, I read on the news that HTC was going to release a universal unlocker for the newer phones, will they also release one for the EVO?

The general consensus is that they will not be unlocking older phones so as to encourage consumers to buy the newer ones.
EDIT: There is always of course the possibility that an independent developer will find an exploit and give us the ability to gain root access to our phones. Some devs are known to be working on this now. There's no guarantee of course, but there is hope for those of us who were feeling hopeless.
OK, so the phone has android 2.2, so I automatically assume it can be rooted. Now, can someone recommend me a good rom? I know about cm7 and miui, but what do the devs here have to offer?

I really liked Deck's ROM; lightweight, few issues; great battery life when combined with Tiamat 3.3.7. It's basically CM7 with a lot of the extra clutter (language packs, etc) removed. It looks and acts almost exactly like Android on the Nexus S.
That was my daily driver. I also really liked playing with Synergy; it's feature-packed and has a lot of bells and whistles, and is a fun toy. I didn't like it for daily use, though. I am really into the KISS philosophy when it comes to my smartphone.
And what about kernels? Is there a good choice of kernels to sift through, or for the most part do the roms already come with the best kernel for the job..?

Well that's a question that is dependent on a few things:
Do you prefer physical or virtual keyboards?
Is the loss of a nicer screen worth a bigger screen?
The Epic could be a great phone if it had the developer support that the Evo had/has.
They don't even have an AOSP ROM.
YES, trade, then load synergy rls1, then freedom kernel, for root use unrevoked,

My personal opinion is that developer support is what makes the phone.
The Epic has a better core for performance and for battery.
If I recall correctly the GPU is better too.
The screen is nicer.
The keyboard sucks [because I hate physical keyboards]
But the developer support, comparative to the Evo, is nil.
Now, there have been signs of an increase in support but with the SGS2 coming it's hard to say how much will come to the Epic itself.
I actually just came from an epic to the evo since mine was stolen (which really sucked I loved that phone) but with the evo I've never looked back. I really liked the physical keyboard since I'm not a fan of soft keyboards but swype and mods alongside a much larger screen make up for it. Speaking of the screen, its no super amoled but its definitely one of the nicest I've used and and the phone overall is just beautiful. Battery is about the same for both in my experience. But like others have said the evo has MUCH better developer support. I remember I was using frozen syndicate Rom 1.2 before my epic was stolen ( back in end of may/ beginning of June) and they still didn't update I believe. Plus Samsung still hasn't released gingerbread for it and its being discontinued October I think. So all in all you should trade for the evo, definitely much better software support especially for a phone reaching its EOL, not to mention hardware (i.e. cases) Plus sense is just great

LOL your wrong. i had my MT4G rooted and i was curious at the tmobile store, so i did a quadrant race with the sensation they had there. MT4G had the better score
though i do agree, the 4.3 inch screen and duo core processor on the sensation is great. plus, it has an 8 megapixel camera. but all in all, the MT4G can't lose to the htc sensation.
There is no ROM in the world that could make the MT4G even close to the Sensation. A stock Sensation is better then the best rooted and rommed MT4G. Im not trying to be a douche but its true.

Why does it show an htc sensation in the list of devices when you're running a quadrant on a sensation?
That tells me you're also rooted and overclocking, rooted and using a custom rom or you're showing quadrants of a different device.

I never claimed that the MT4G was a better phone. I will however say that it was not a good enough upgrade to switch when the sensation came out. The HTC Amaze 4G is dropping soon. And that phone kills the sensation in my book.
