Here is what I had to do. Downloaded the (.2) leaked RUU, put in SD card root dir, and named PB31IMG.zip then downloaded patch (can be found here in forums, or send me a message and will provide) renamed update.zip and put in SD card root dir. Battery pull into bootloader, when asked to complete upgrade hit yes, when upgrade done, DO NOT reboot, go back to bootloader and the update will start. You'll be greeted with a screen saying you've successfully upgraded to (.3) Hope this helps those stuck with .2
This only works if they're still s-off and still have the stock recovery and bloatware.
If I've helped you, hit the thanks button!

Not exactly, I was s-on when I did the above. So if you do exactly as I did above it works. I've never been rooted.
Can you get with doug piston on this? He's been looking for a .3 RUU. I don't know if he could patch .2 up to .3 for his uses, but I think he'd be interested.
I will try this tonight and report back. What exactly was updated between the .2 and .3 releases?

Sorry I completely misread. I was thinking of those that had unrooted for the OTA and only received the .2 update and not the .3, who were both stuck without root and the .2 update. My mistake.

Lots of misc apps and files were unnoticably updated, and the kernel was updated. Also the backlight issue some people had was fixed.

I thought I found the patch file but when I followed your instructions exactly it didn't work. Can you please point me to the post with the correct patch file? I'm not rooted and seem to be stuck on 4.06.605.2.
Thanks!!!
I having the same issue. Tried the patch but when it goes to update, bootloader goes from the green to red ! logo. tried to force it by holding the vol up and power but it says error and reboots
In case anybody needs them.
Patch (605.2 to 605.3):

I also had problems, but followed the instructions in the OP and it worked for me. Do you still have the RUU 605.2 on your SD card? That's the step that I was missing. Also, when I went into HBOOT by holding the volume down, then power button, it immediately read the update.zip (at least that's what it looked like because it did not ask if I wanted to update; went straight to update screen), and after a few automatic reboots, I got the update to 605.3 message.
Finally, just to be clear, I had installed the 605.2 RUU (wasn't and still am not rooted; I have S-ON). Could not get the patch to work. After reading about this method in another thread, I did a factory reset, then removed my SD card, formatted it, put the 605.2 RUU file (renamed PB31IMG.zip) and the 605.2-605.3 patch file (renamed update.zip) on the card. Pulled the battery, re-inserted the SD card, put the battery back in, restarted into HBOOT with the volume down. Hope that helps.

So I do still need to have both the froyo to gb update and the .3 patch for this to work correct? I did it that way everytime last night just making sure that is still right.

Ahh, that may be the problem. If you have already upgraded to the 605.2 version of GB (which I assume you did), then you need the 605.2-603.3 patch (renamed to 'update.zip') and the leaked RUU 605.2 file (renamed to 'PB31IMG.zip'), which is not the same as the Froyo to GB file. Again, I don't think I have link privileges yet, but I will try to post the link to the RUU file.

I'm glad to hear that it finally worked for you. And someone was able to help. I was busy the last few days. Don't think I'll be downloading leaked RUUs anymore though. Wish I would have known about not being able to root after the update, although I'm sure someone around here will find a way.
Can someone explain to a somewhat noobie how to get to HBOOT without rebooting the phone?
I understand how to get to HBOOT and understand manually updating to 605.2 first but then I am not clear as to the next step. Once 605.2 is loaded I am not supposed to reboot the phone but go to HBOOT. But doesn't the phone automatically reboot once 605.2 is loaded?
Also, I am trying to clear something up. I am currently on Froyo, non rooted, and having problems with the manual update to GB.
On another forum they are suggesting using this method to update and that is has worked for several people. Will attempting the update this way wipe my phone?

Hey guys,
a friend of mine has got a problem and I hope you may can help me.
He had 3.2 on his tablet and wanted it to root. So he did the "downgrad method" an everything worked well. Then he flashed the Thor ICS Rom with CWM. Everything was fine, but he wanted to flash antoher ROM.
I don´t know why, but instead of using the CWM full backup he flashed again the "downgrade_not_stable" file.
Now he is stuck on the Android boot screen.
CWM isn´t available anymore, so he can´t flash another ROM.
Is there any option to solve this problem?
Go to settings and then about. Go to system update at the top. This should get him back to stock 3.2/3.2.1.THIS WILL TAKE A WHILE... You will need wifi as it downloads official update.
After getting back to stock 3.2/3.2.1 go to android market and install the acer recovery installer and also install iconia root, you should find both here somewhere.
THEN downgrade to 3.0.1.
Run iconia root, then acer recovery installer (puts cwm back on tab).
Install rom of choice by transferring .zip file onto sd card and booting into cwm.....
At first thanks for your fast answer.
The problem is that he is stuck on boot screen which means he isn´t able to go to any settings. After downgrade from ICS to 3.0.1 not stable, he only sees the Android Boot logo
Sounds like it was a bad rom BAD Download..

Thank you all!
We will give this a try, even if the Rom he used to downgraded doesn´t seem to be bad. (He allready succsefully used it to downgrade and root from stock rom before flashing ics and doing weird stuff ) But maybe there just went something wrong with the downgrading process. Worth to give this other rom a try.
I have an additional question: Isn´t it possible, that there is a problem with the kernel used with the ics rom and the needed kernel of the downgrade rom?! (sorry i don´t really know about this stuff)
/edit: Ok following problem: USB debugging is not turned on and he can´t turn it on because he is stuck in boot :/
Try holding down power and - volume, when acer logo appears then rock the screen lock button back and forth once. This should clear cache and user data.
Try flashing the 3.0.1 update file again using acer recovery (you might try downloading again in case its a corrupt file) and see if that works.... Then install iconia root and acer recovery installer to root and reinstall cwm.
If this doesn't work, I'm out of ideas....

Thank you all for your help but nothing worked.
My friend called the Acer support. They said it should be an hardware defect (I don´t really believe it) and they want him to send the tablet to the support to replace it...
Just tell him to use the EUU tool from timmyDean's thread to flash stock rooted 3.2.1 from your PC or use the method 1 downgrade from my signature.
Oh, and he doesn't have a "bad download", and he flashed the same 3.0.1 that worked the first time. The mistake was done when he flashed 3.0.1 over thor's Asus based ROM 3.2.1 making it a mess.

ok
So, I found the OTA update packages for the FRD-L14 to B320 (and B317)
I really wanted to update... but I'm not sure how.
I'm rooted, with TWRP and SuperSU installed, and it all works ok.
I didn't want to do any hard methods, scared of bricking it. Updating the OTA over SD card isn't working (can't even find the setting)
So what to do?
They are only OTA updates, not Full, so I can't just use dload method to load them up.
I would prefer to keep root, but if I have to reflash to stock, and then re-root, I can do that.
Any other methods I can use? Can anyone with a bit more knowledge help me out?
And of course, more than happy to share the OTA files, one is approximately 3gb (B317) and the other is about 300mb (B320)
Thanks

you need to make sure the zip file you get are the right one.
since your have TWRP, just flash the update.zip and the update_hw_usa.zip Link without reboot in between.

It shows how to install twrp on 7.0 and root. Not work for me, so i give up this part, just enjoy the original Emui 5

I updated through the charles app. I am not rooted with custom recovery. Here is a link to the thread that details how I did it, with the original firmware link for the version I'm on.

Hmm, it seems to have worked for me, but I seem to be running into some issues. It might have failed for me too.
I HAVE to replace some of these default apps. Some of them are truly awful, not to mention I have to uninstall some.

thanks, i will try it.
Which TWRP you used for the FRD-L14
So I've spent a good hour searching these threads, and I still can't clear this up. Some people are saying the Verizon HTC 10 doesn't have band 12 at all. Others are saying it does, you just have to s-off to use it. Will my plan enable full compatibility with T-Mobile?
Here's my game plan:
Buy the HTC 10 on Craigslist
Downgrade if needed
Read this thread and hopefully figure out how to s-off with sunshine
Follow these instructions to change the CID
Download the TMUS firmware from the "No Wipe" category of this list, which I conveniently found on this forum that clearly says no CDMA devices
Leave the radios alone, since the firmware from above already contains the TMUS radios?
Reboot and cross my fingers?
Thanks everyone!
I'd just convert to us unlocked
Convertng to US Unlocked is the way to go. Works on ATT. Should work with T-Mobile

Which RUU did you use? I got mine directly from HTC's website (2.28.617.8) and received error 158. Any tips?
Edit: Also my phone is in the update mode with the picture of the phone and a green circle.... I'm afraid to power off
Also some more info - I was on 1.85.605.9 and downgraded to 1.85.605.8. Then, I used SunShine and got S-off with unlocked bootloader. Next, I tried installing HTC's RUU, which failed.
My plan was to install twrp and supersu after getting the unlocked RUU, but now I'm just stuck.
Thanks in advance

I wrote this, this will work, just take the OTAs until you get to 2.41

Hey! That's the exact post I was following along! Didn't even make the connection - thanks for your help so far. Anyway, I followed your guide until the part you said to download that RUU. I'm on 1.85.605.8, and the one in your link is 1.80.617.1. I was like...ehh better not downgrade, so I used the one from HTC's website. HTC actually gave me a warning (before it died) and said make sure you're updating to an equal or higher firmware. Should I be concerned about using an older one?
Also, flash twrp and supersu before or after receiving otas?
Again, thanks so much for your help! I'm trying my best to search the forums and not ask redundant questions!

Also, use magisk instead of supersu you will be able to keep safety
Net passing, and snapchat, plus get root and all the goodies. You will need a custom kernel though

I just did a plain ol factory reset, but if that still doesn't work, I'll try twrp. Here's the screenshot about the test device message... you think that has anything to do with it?

Okay so I'm asking cause better safe than sorry. When you say wipe everything... is that the normal data, cahche, and dalvik? Or am I wiping system also cause that's like... woah don't normally touch that lol
System, data, cache, internal SD....basically everything but your external SD. Once wiped, go back to the format data option. Type yes, then reboot to download mode. Run your run from there

Are you bootloader locked?
So i used this guide to root my phone:
youtube. com/watch?v=AMNVruAU6do
at the end it doesnt installed spuerSU and my phone have bootloop.
then i thought maybe factory reset would help. So i did it, and now i cant acces to my phone at all.
any thoughts?

Ok, need more info,
What model GRA ???
What Build No. ?
What you have tried since?
If the phone was bootlooping how did you access "factory re-set" ?
Have you done ANY searching/reading to help yourself, not least, even my advice in the post below "P8 Stuck at Boot"?
Have you any experience in flashing this phone or even others?
model GRA-l09
Build emui 4.03
so i used SRKToolHuawei 2.0 and it installed TWRP.
then i rooted, and it went into bootloop. So by this program i enterd TWPR again and did factory reset.
and i tried to reload lastest patch but i got "waiting for device", and its not moving from there.
only used kingroot to root another phone. and i tried looking on other forums for solution but nothing helped.
Have you tried downloading an official ROM, say B999, and putting the "update.app" into a folder on SD card named Dload and rebooting while holding all three buttons?
Have you read my advice here? :-
https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p8/help/huawei-p8-l09-bootloop-trying-to-root-t3695022
ohhhh i will try this option, but first need to get another phone so i can put things on sd card ;/

okey it worked and put me into TWRP mode. What i should do next? continue to root?
So i continued to root installed supersu and now my phone is working, but still i dont have root, and i cant find super su app. Anyway thx for help <3
@krullol
If using B399 you MUST use the latest versions of TWRP and SU.
Just follow the instructions in post #1,
https://forum.xda-developers.com/hua...4-0-1-t3431249
TO THE LETTER, using these linked to files (TWRP and SuperSU) and, hey presto, a fully rooted P8.
