International language - Atrix 4G General

Hi,
I am planning on buying the AT&T Atrix and wanted to know if there's Russian support in any of the custom roms. I am not looking to keep it stock and unrooted.
Thanks

No one knows? I am picking up an Atrix tonight and would love to know this before I go and pick it up.

Probably CM7 supports Russian. I don't know how you write "Russian" in Russian, otherwise I'd tell you for sure

It's written like this: Русский and is usually on the very bottom of the language list.
Thanks.

No clue.and havent.come.across language support threads that often on xda. You'll see more of that on nokias.
I voided my warranty and your mum.

Is there any difference between a unlocked and rooted G1 and a Dev Phone 1?

From as far as I get what the Dev Phone 1 is, it's the same as any unlocked and rooted G1, right? (ok ok, except the looks...)
Well the dev phone has the engineering bootloader as well, this, or hard spl can be applied to a rooted g1, making them closer but the standard android build differs as well
Adp is a lighter version of rc, missing stuff like my faves, it has different storage space for different folders and it also has root privilages built in
They're not exactly the same, it's worth remembering root is just an account with greater control over the system!

Aha, thanks for the explanation!
I (as a Java developer) want to start making making Android software, so I guess I'm better off with the Dev Phone then I guess.
Too bad I couldn't find an azerty version yet as I live in Belgium (and we use azerty).
Greets
For development purposes, they are practically identical - you are probably better of with a rooted retail phone.

I wouldn't call it a "lighter" version, more like a "cleaner" version, i.e. it lacks the SPAM CRAP like amazon and pointless nonsense like "myfavs".
Definitely better off with an ADP since you will probably want access to all the data directories, which requires root, which on a consumer device would require rooting, which risks bricking since you'll need to change the bootloader. With an ADP, you already have the good bootloader and as long as you don't mess with it, you can never brick it.

I'm Belgian too but made the switch to QWERTY keyboards about 4 yrs ago.
And must admit it has 'enlightened' me ever since
As a software tester I have to code quite a bit myself and I'd never want azerty again for development purposes...
The only pain is when I have to write emails to french colleagues...
I bought my retail G1 from pdashop.nl, i just picked it up at their store in Eindhoven, which is right across the Dutch border...
While pdashop.nl salespeople (they knew I was Belgian) insisted that the G1's they sell are locked to Tmobile (which we dont have in Belgium), i had no problems using my G1 on Proximus, and a friends G1 on Mobistar Belgian networks.
Note that 'rooting' a G1 like the one I have is a bit more difficult than the US ones, I had to create a goldcard sdcard in order get mine rooted...

Sounds you live pretty close to where I live then! I'm from Maasmechelen, so pretty close to the Dutch border too.
Will send you a PM, perhaps I can add you online somewhere because I've got some more questions .
Thanks and greets!

What's the difference between HTC's official ROM's and...

...the ones listed in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=559622 this thread?
If I download the official one for Europe from HTC support page I would get the 2.73.405.5 one... but in the one in the aforementioned thread I see 2.73.405.66... I know that the "405" are the region number though.
This is getting quite confused... are they nonofficial uppdates or country specific images?
these are the official htc updates. be careful when applying these, as it might be a hasle to get your phone rooted afterwards.

I assumed that they where indeed official uppgrades but why aren't they on HTC support pages? Am I looking in the wrong region of the world or am I just plain stupid in finding them?
And what's the difference between them?
I am not worried about not being able to root my phone... it will stay unrooted until it falls out of HTC's warranty (2 year world wide warranty)... and in two years I am sure that some chefs have been able to root it again...

they are there, you just need to enter the correct serial (as if you bought a phone in uk if you want the uk upgrade and so on). the difference is only known by htc, or someone who tried them all... the newer the better, for general speaking.

Battery on Note AFTER firmware Upgrade to 2.3.6

I've only noticed two things so far, after installing 2.3.6 on my German Galaxy Note via kies:
1) Over all performance is a little zippier, opening app drawer etc..
2) The big difference I've noticed, is that now, when I check battery usage, my Android OS usage is much MUCH less. Before it was continually showing that 86% of my battery was being used by Android OS. But since the update, it now shows 24%!

best bet would be to root it and install cwm . You will have to read first before u jump in or else you will have a very expensive paper weight
I can confirm battery life when idle has improved a lot, now I see 1-2% drop every hour with mild use little surfing over wifi.
CPU spy reports longer time in deep sleep state.
there are new battery saving options in the Web browser, but I haven't seen their effects yet.
Very happy with this upgrade!

It was a piece of cake.. I'm in Canada with a German Note... all I did was download Kies, and plugged in the phone in a PC .. Instantly a message popped up and said there was a firmware upgrade. In the last 3 hours on idle, it dropped 1% versus 5 0r 10% prior to the upgrade.

Look at the back of the box your Note came in.
If it says www.samsung.pl it's from Poland
If it says www.samsung.de it's from Germany
If it says www.samsung.uk it's from United Kingdom
Will this update unroot/break root if you're rooted?

Mines is strange. I got it from handtec UK, but the box has www.samsung.com on the back and has english wording all over it. But, when I started the phone for the first time, a weird language came up by default, not spanish or french, but another one from Europe I believe. Also, hte box came with 2 manuals: english and an asian language, I believe Thai. What could this mean? What version do I have and why was it another language other than english at first boot?

You probably have the UK version if it's in English. I was just guessing as to what the web address on the box would say for the UK based off the Polish and German versions so it's probably just www.samsung.com. I don't know why it would default to some other language than English if it is the UK version though. I got the Polish version and it came set with English (United Kingdom) by default.

There are also German, Polish and Hong Kong versions out there. So if you think the language you got upon initial setup was European, maybe it was the Polish version. Then again, you have an Asian manual, so it's a little confusing.
I believe there's a way to change the region/country code that the phone identifies itself with, so the updater accepts your phone for the specific update files it is referencing to. It involves dialing a #somethingsomethingYourIMEI* number, and you can probably find it by googling for "region change galaxy note imei".
As usual, should you accept to follow this method, I will disavow any knowledge of your actions.
Happy to hear =D
i may upgrade to 2.3.6 soon

yesterday looking for a stock english rom so i can use it.
however there is so much out there in th xda forums for this phone.
i was wondering iff some one could point me to the best option for a stock rom for the X7500 it would be greatly appreciated
as i realy would like to start using this divice soon as i can.

Mark.
No one got any advice?

Hey, we're not sitting on a fence just waitung for someone to post
Concerning your question- why does it have to be a stock rom?
There are cooked roms which are much better than any stock one.
Most of them do come in english.
Aside from this- if your ameo isn't cid unlocked you may not even be able
to install a stock rom even if you find one as you would need some english rom
fitting to the presumed dutch cid.
Maybe you take your time and take a look at the unlock- and romupdate related
threads you can find around here.

Guys,
Feel like an idiot, my phones I update all the time but feel more at ease if it F****-up
SO I am looking for a guide for the SM-J730GM/DS I see other models and have no idea will it cause a problem.
She bought it from China or somewhere else don't know. But it is full of S*** and I just what a clean rom from somewhere.
So does it matter what model if it starts SM-J730XX?
and she lives in netherlands if that is important.

You should check the Custom ROM section. At the back of the phone, the exact model number is written. You can match that with the custom ROMs.
