i want to access https links
but it says you are unauthorized without popping for username and pass
Which browser can handle https?
Use Dolphin Browser... It supports HTTPS Links....

I tried dolphin and opera mobile
even tried changing their user agent to desktop
but of no use...
Might be a network restriction, have you spoken to your operator?

try deleting the values under "proxy' and "port" in your apn list. save new apn and try loading the https pages again.
This has nothing to do with either the browser used (the stock one does support https!), or the fact that the page is HTTPS.
The page you are accessing simply requires authentication information. Without that you cannot go any further.
I was working on the assumption that he was trying to access a page he already had cridentials for. Go to this page https://msp.f-secure.com/web-test/common/test.html. if the page doesn't load you have a problem if it does all I can say is doh

If your are trying to access secure pages from facebook, twitter or something similar, make sure you have enabled this option from your account using your pc. Some media platforms require that you activate the option of signing in from unknown devices.

Https does not prompt for credentials - it never has and never will. Credentials have nothing to do with secure connections. It must be the website/webpage that you are visiting that requires this information.
Can you give us the URL that you are having problems with?

I'm asking this because if you use a proxy then all the requests processed are sent to it and the S/W (firewall) authenticate the request. In case of a intranet site say a sharepoint portal it requires windows authentication to proceed.
In a desktop browser or maybe a Symbian env (not sure) it may prompt for a username password but in case of android all such authentications fail.
I've been looking for a workaround on this don know yet.
Need more digging

Is there any way to stop activesync starting up on the wizard as it slows my device down. I stop it in memory programs running and then dont use it to connect to the pc again. Then when I check again later on its running again.
Any way to stop this ?
Ive had a search through the forums but couldnt find anything.
there is an easy solution. I have mentioned this on this forum several times, but here it is again:
In Active Sync on your device, go to menu-Configure server. Then put in a fake server address and leave all other settings as they are. tap next untill you come to the screen that asks which items you want to sync. uncheck all checkboxes that indicate which items are synced with the Exchange Server and finish the configuration. Then go to menu-schedule and set the sync options both to manual. Now Active Sync will not start automatically to try to make contact with an Exchange Server, which is the cause of the problem.
You forgot to mention after you setup the fake exchange server and set the options to manual.. after it times out attempting to connect to the server you can simply delete the server. The manual setting remains.. thus no more activesync in the background issue.

Yep. Although, you have to re-do it after every cold boot or soft-reset.

You have to fill out all the boxes, including "domain". Once a server has been added, the schedule option will no longer be greyed out.

I am trying to find file explorer with vpn support. I have tried gsfinder+ but it seems there's no support for vpn.
Does someone know any file explorer with vpn support?
-Matti-
What exactly do you mean by file explorer with vpn support?
Meaning that,
when try to use my firm shared resource/network folder. I first need vpn to connect inner network. Vpn works great but I cant somehow use shared resources.
Tested:
I connect vpn. Now I can show firm intranet web site so it means vpn works. I open gsfinder. try to connect network folder \\server\share but some error occurs.
And the question was, is there any file explorer that support vpn connections?
sorry my bad english...
the only apps that seem to work properly over a vpn are exchange active sync, pocket ie and the terminal services client.
maybe i'm missing something but i can't find any file explorer that will let me access the office network over vpn.
surely this is kind of the point of a vpn connection? to (securely) access the network's resources as if you were physically connected to it.
not being able to access fileshares is more than a bit rubbish!
I'm new in this forum, and I'm also quite newbie in windows mobile world, but here is how I managed to get PPTP VPN work with resco explorer:
1) Setup your VPN connection to "Settings -> connections -> connections"
2) Setup "Settings -> connections -> advanced -> Select Networks" as shown in pic 1
3) Add LAN addresses to "Settings -> connections -> advanced -> exceptions" (ie. 192.168.0.*/*)
You need to open the VPN connection first and then use resco explorer, it does not open the connection automatically.
I noticed from my firewall (m0n0wall) logs that it always tries to use my ISP:s "fake" WINS server, even if I try to map the share using IP address. So I put my WINS servers LAN IP address manually to connection settings and then it starts to work. Now I can securely access my local network folders anywhere using computer name i.e. \\SERVER\SHARE.

Thanks a lot joksanen. I get it working now with gsfinder, so happy
Only thing I needed to do was that I add intranet addresess to exception list and vola its working...
Your instructions were great!!!
Finally got it working!!!
The missing link for me was setting up a WINS server.
Thanks for the tip
Where I need to write the WINS server?
I didn't have a WINS Server.
Does this mean I need to write the
IP Adress from the Computer, I would like to connect?
I got the same problem connecting with VPN a LAN-drive.
After connecting with OpenVPN or L2TP I can ping the Computer,
but I can't map a drive.
Does somebody have a Idea for me?
Thank you for any help in advance.

Hi Hakim
Thank you very much for your respond.
But this is a alternative option and not the solution for me.
I have Firewall from Astaro with PPTP, L2TP, SSL VPN function.
With the Computer works like a charm, only my mobile device makes me problem.
There is a VPN issue with the Windows Mobile Devices, I have seen google many users that don't work correctly.

I am running DamageControl 2.0vr2 and cannot seem to set up my AKO account, that's my military account. It worked when I was running the 1.5's such as Fresh 1.1 and such. Anyone have any idea how I get the DOD certs onto my phone and if that will indeed help? Thanks.
PS I searched!
man, are you talking about your CAC certs? I honestly haven't tried to log in to my account from my phone. Hell it's a pain enough to try and get it working right from home.
Dont think you will get the cert on the phone. I log into my AKO all the time via DC v1. Have not tried it with v2. i just get the accept cert thing then continue in with username stupid password and moronic questions

Well when I was running 1.5 I just had my AKO account set up through the e-mail app and it worked just fine, I never had to log into the actual site. Now I cannot get the imap settings to work at all. I was thinking maybe if I had the certs on the phone running 2.1 it would work. Just a PITA. Thanks though, and if anyone else finds a solution lemme know!

I didnt even know you could set it up via imap. Ill have to look into that. Just an idea. maybe setup outlook on a desktop to pull via IMAP. Have it check for mail every 5 mins or something and forward to another address automatically and have your phone check that address. Ugly. yes. but could work

Since my job requires it, I need a reliable tool to connect on remote VPN servers and using a remote desktop tool in order to manage terminal servers.
I have successfully used the built-in VPN client and connected on remote VPN servers very fast.
I also used a small tool (GTech Net Tools) by which I can ping hosts and resolve DNS names, etc. but not too much (BTW if anyone knows any application with full network capabilities, it's welcome to share with us here.)
Now, I used an RDP application (Remote RDP Lite 3.0.3) which claims to do what it's name says but I cannot connect to any server. In addition to this, the tools mentioned above could not even resolve the Netbios name of the server so I got suspicious and tried using the FQDN name of the server. Then it worked but my question now is why doesn't the VPN connection receive the DNS suffix provided by the VPN DHCP server (which works fine on windows PCs)?
Has anyone come around this?
BTW (The RDP client is not so useful as you cannot distinguish between mouse move & selections on the screen and clicks to move the desktop within the screen area) so, If anyone knows of a better and more efficient tool, please share.

Well, one easy way to solve this problem is to use Teamviewer. But you'll be required to install a client on each terminial you want to control. But on the other hand, you will be available to see all running terminals on a clientlist. Aswell the opportunity to connect to each one of them.
And the app has a great way to let you control the mousepointer. Even let's you use the whole keyboard.
But still, this require you to install teamviewers client on each terminal you want to connect to.

Have you tried Wyse's PocketCloud? It has had decent write-ups. I downloaded it yesterday to try to get a remote desktop up over RDP from a VMWare instance, but the VMWare View options dont seem to be in the free version. If you know all the server connection credentials for a pure RDP connection then it looks like it ticks all the right boxes for that.

all,
since this morning I'm the proud owner of a HTC 7 trophy. After some hassle to get my personal exchange certificate on the device, I have the following annoying effect - exchanges looses its password - uncrecoverable unless reseupt of email account on the device.
I set up the exchange connection correctly with the "advanced option" etc - everything runs smoothly, mail sync, calender sync, contacts etc...
however, after each sms, call or whatever, it seems the connection is lost by some means and I get the error "exchange password incorrect" and I'm prompted to re-provide my password. Entering the password does not solve the issue (I keep on getting prompted for the password), only removing the email account on the phone and resetup helps, till the next "interupt" of a sms or a call. Very annoying.
Anyone experienced this and knows a solution?
thx

Sounds like certificate issue to me.
A colleague of mine had almost same problem as you on his laptop. After every restart of his laptop he had to enter password. I gave him proper certificate and his Exchange problems gone.
So, first check your certificate.
There is another possibility. I can access my exchange server using two different addresses, but only one of them is covered by my certificate. I need to use the one from certificate.
If you are sure that your certificate is good, check if your server address match your certificate.
thx, any idea of what the certificate issue could be? (so I can try to give some more dierection to the exchange guys here?)
(I'm using the certificate generead for my login and server name is correct)
Strange is though that on my P3300 (WM6.1) with the same certificate, it works like a breeze...

How does your Exchange account tile looks like?
Like Outlook or Google mail tile?
The exchange account looks like your outlook tile...
In the mean time I use my WM6.1 device again and I noticed that indeed there I had te re-enter my exchange password again as well after reboot (so not after each interupt) which is then nicely accepted by exchange...
My trophy is back in the box until I have a solution - little disappointment...

Exchange tile should look as Outlook tile, that's good.
Asking for password after reboot on WM6.1 - NOT GOOD! If it happens every time after reboot, than you have certificate problem or server address you use is not covered by your certificate. You have same problem on both devices, but because the way WM6.1 works you do not see a problem as often as on WP7 device.
Copy your certificate file on your PC. Double click that file and certmgr will open. You will see Certificates - Current User, and a folder with name of the file you just double clicked. Open that folder and you will see Certificates folder inside. Open Certificates folder and you should see what is in your certificate file.
In Issued To you should see name of your server, for example exchange.yourcompany.com
In Intended Purposes you should see Server Autentification
Also check Expiration Date.
To have VALID certificate, you need to see exact address that you use and date should be some date in the future.
Hope this will help to resolve your certificate issue.
btw. that is not my phone in the picture (that's not trophy after all), I just wanted to be sure that your account is set up as Outlook (because it should be that way).
mmm, thx for the tip...
what I see is that the certificate is not issued to the server, but to my userid and the intend is "proves your identity to a remote computer"
my I do need to install the corporte root certificate as well..

You need the one that says "Ensures the identity of a remote computer", and that one is for your server.
I only have the one I mentioned above, the corporate root certificate is for the correct policy.
I wondering though what the differnce is between "proves your identity to a remote computer" and "ensures the identity of a remote computer"
any message i could give to the tech guys over here?

Those two certificates do opposite things.
The one you have is to assure your server that you have right to use that user and password, something like: "yes he is the one he is telling you he is".
Another one (the one I have) is to assure that your server is the server that should receive your user and password, something like: "yes that is the right exchange server, feel free to send my data to it anytime you want".
I hope it's clear now.
very clear - thx, but no clue what to do now ;-)

If you use Chrome, you will get red or green lock, depending of address of server that you use for that, and certificate installed on your PC. Green one preferred.
In any case, click on that lock.
Something like "The identity of this website has been verified by ..."
And you have Certificate information link, click on it.
You will see "Ensures the identity of a remote computer" in purposes.
Issued to should be address of your Exchange server. Be sure that you use that address, and not any other one to connect on your devices.
Click on detail, and then Copy to file. You will see export wizard. Click Next. Any format should do. Finish the wizard and you will have certificate on your PC.
There is no difference what you should do in case of red or green lock. Only difference is in the displayed message. In case of red lock you will see something like "The identity of this website has not been verified." That probably only means that you used some other address for server than the one that have certificate. In worst case it means that certificate is not valid.
Easiest way to transfer it on the phone is to put it on some website. I have mine on one of companies websites in password protected folder, so I can open it over IE on my mobile at anytime. Another way is to send it to your e-mail. Or do whatever you did to transfer first certificate.
Install on phone, try and let me know the results.
it's crystal clear, howevern, I have no clue what to do know .... ;-( (besides using my old artemis...)

Have you downloaded certificate from your exchange server and install it to your phone?
If you do not understand my previous post (with details how to get your certificate), you have 3 choices:
1. You can ask someone to help you to follow the steps I explained in my previous post.
2. You can ask your IT to give you certificate that will assure identity of your exchange website.
3. You can send me PM with external address of your exchange server, and I will download certificate and send it to you.
thx!
I spoke to they IT guys - they acknowledge the issue.... and will work on it.
i installed the certifacte via the procedure i've been told... (adn again on my other device it works like a breeze...)
