Stopping activesync running. - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Is there any way to stop activesync starting up on the wizard as it slows my device down. I stop it in memory programs running and then dont use it to connect to the pc again. Then when I check again later on its running again.
Any way to stop this ?
Ive had a search through the forums but couldnt find anything.

there is an easy solution. I have mentioned this on this forum several times, but here it is again:
In Active Sync on your device, go to menu-Configure server. Then put in a fake server address and leave all other settings as they are. tap next untill you come to the screen that asks which items you want to sync. uncheck all checkboxes that indicate which items are synced with the Exchange Server and finish the configuration. Then go to menu-schedule and set the sync options both to manual. Now Active Sync will not start automatically to try to make contact with an Exchange Server, which is the cause of the problem.

You forgot to mention after you setup the fake exchange server and set the options to manual.. after it times out attempting to connect to the server you can simply delete the server. The manual setting remains.. thus no more activesync in the background issue.

I tried mine, where it said 'Add Server Source', I create some address, but it didn't register. Everytime I tried Menu, it still ask for adding server source. Also, the Schedule option is not highlighted.
Anyhelp how to go about?
Thanks.

Yep. Although, you have to re-do it after every cold boot or soft-reset.

You have to fill out all the boxes, including "domain". Once a server has been added, the schedule option will no longer be greyed out.

this worked for me initially but now it keeps giving me I/O connection errors while using wm5storage :x

hmm funny that, working sweet for me - are you using wm5torage 1.53 and following Koksie's instructions? I did not leave the username etc... blank but put fake stuff in there too, if that helps

You mean, every softreset I have to do the full fake server trick??? Or only stop de ActiveSync process??? After a softreset Activesync is active again...

MyLastIP version 1.2
I made little modification to this small little tools recently.
For whom:
If you are always on the move and wants to access your home PC via remote access or VPN, but everytime you reconnect to your broadband connection, the IP is different.
How it works:
Copy the MyLastIP client and run from your PC. You can create a shortcut and place it on your windows startup folder. You can manually trigger the client to update your IP or make a recurring update. So, in case when your modem reset, your latest IP will be updated at the next interval.
Your IP will be updated to the webserver. So all you need to do is retrieve your last IP address from: http://www.kreees.com/MyLastIP
For those who use their Terminal Service from their PPC, it's useful to make this a shortcut in your Pocket IE.
Find out more: http://www.kreees.com/MyLastIP
P/S: This program may not work on certain DSL connection where IP address broadcasted is not your PC public IP.
Any chance this can be modified to include a location box to specify where to upload the IP address too? Most people get a few Mb of space on there ISP's servers with an address that remains static, if this program uses the FTP protocol to upload the IP address it would be really handy to enter a new location and specfy a log in username and password.
Regards
I'm sorry gooroo, I didn't quite catch what you mean. Could you give me brief scenario of how you would like it to work?
I developed this little tool 2 years back when I first got the Xda II and wanted to do Terminal Service Client. So, it is rather no frill for the time being.
In fact, I can modify the program to work in this way, but ONLY if you want your home PC to be accessed like a web server.
On your PC, MyLastIP will constantly update the site of its latest IP address. And any of your friends or clients who would like to visit your website at home, will just need to key in something like http://www.kreees.com/sites/gooroo, then it will redirect them to whatever your IP is ... http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
Is that what you mean?
Yeah, so I could run a web server, FTP server, terminal services or anything else for that matter. Instead of using your own server "www.kreees.com" I could use my one web space from my ISP to hold the link to my own PC.
So I am with NTL as my ISP, my webspace is something like http://homepages.ntl.com/~gooroo
your program uploads my IP as mylastip.html to ftp://homepages.ntl.com/~gooroo
I type http://homepages.ntl.com/~gooroo/mylastip.html then my IP appears.
Or maybe I can generate a mylastip.html on my PC and your program looks for xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx in the file and replaces it before uploadng the file via FTP to my ISP free web space.
Regards
sorry gooroo, my program doesn't work this way, the client on your computer does not invoke any ftp process at all. all it does is send a request to my site via http, and my server (IIS) does the capturing of your IP.

but I can not connect to my notebook with REMOTE DESKTOP.:-((
In cmd I pinged my topaz and its worked.
Do Somebody knows what should be wrong?
Or have some advice?
Thanks for the answer.

Nobody knows?
Use Anybody the Remote Destop?
Hi
Remote desktop needs to be turned on on your computer. Remote desktop is only on Professional editions on XP and Vista, you will not find it on Home editions.
Regards
Phil
Thanks,
but it is not new infomations.
I need problem solving!
Regards
M.
Hi
What steps or things have you already tried?
If you can ping your computer then the most likely thing is:
1) You need to enable remote desktop on your computer.
2) You must have an account with a password set to use remote desktop.
3) Firewall on your computer is blocking access.
Other things that would be helpful to know is:
From your mobile phone how are you connecting? Are you connecting by wireless or through your mobile operator?
What operating system?
What other things you have already tried?
Give us something to work with and someone may help.
Regards
Phil
I tried the following two steps.
1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCs4GQma7IQ&hd=1
2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8BbrZqoXpY
I turned off all firewall.But I can't connect.:-(
I tired connect from other PC-s, and my Topaz, by wireless, and from my moile operator. Nothing.
I thing the main problem is on my notebook.
On my notebook - what I would like to control from other device - the OS is Vista, on the other PC where I tired connect from is WIN2000, and on my Topaz WIN MOBILE 6.1.
If you need other information for the solution, just tell....
Yours sincerely,
M.
Working on Windows 7:
I use Windows 7 on my laptop, after couple tries it worked & i guess it will work in vista too, that's what i did:
-go to services (type services in start) & start all "remote" services.
-enable remote connection in windows setting (type "allow remote access" in start).
-in router setting enable port 3389 for LOCAL IP adress.
-log off PC.
-in Topaz Remote Desktop:
computer: PC EXTERNAL IP
user name: PC Windows user name
password: PC Windows password
*if windows has no pass anyone who type ip can login.

I did it all again, what you suggested. + I turned off all firewall (what included in Vista, and Avast too.)
I got this failure message:-(
I translated it.
Did somebody get like this? Tell something for Anybody?
I tried to connect from an other notebook. I couldn't.:-(
Now I am sure the problem is in my notebook.
What else can I do in settings what solve the problem????
I run out of ideas.:-(
PLEAS HELP!
From the other PC failure message:
The first thing I would try is to simplify the setup so as to bypass the port forwarding stuff by just testing if remote desktop works on the local network.
Use WiFi on your TD2 to connect to the same network that the PC is on (or use that other notebook). Then do ipconfig in a command window on the PC you want to connect to get its local IP address. Then on the TD2, use that IP as the "computer", and see if that works. If it does, then it's an issue with the port forwarding.
I think the port forwarding is ok. The port is open. It is 100%
port looks fine, strange its 192.168.2.* and not 192.168.1.* but it should work anyway..
make sure you admin on pc and make sure all remote services started,
and make sure you connect to external ip from topaz.
EDIT: number 2 in your error message is "maximum connections" so try log off pc before trying to connect.
I checked everything like an 8 years old boy.
And all are ok. I show you. So what is the next?:-(
Yours sincerely,
M.
But I can ping every devices.
192.168.2.100. My Notebook, what I would like to control.
192.168.2.101. An other computer, with Win 2000 what I use to testing.
192.168.2.102. My Topaz.
I am crying!!!!:-((((

I notice you have put a . at the end of your IP address. That would stop it from working. Your IP should be 192.168.2.100 not 192.168.2.100.

Hi All,
I don't have a Diamond 2, but I do have a Touch Diamond. I had the same problem until I changed "Settings", "Connections", "Advanced", "Select Networks" and switched the private network to "Media Net" or whatever your Carrier calls it. For whatever reason the Wifi portion of the phone can't get to any internal IP's on your network until you change this setting. You may also take a look and make sure proxy is unchecked as well. Hope this helps.

My windows has 7 services your only 5 try to search the missing services maybe they named differently.
What rom you use? maybe its bug in your rom...
Yep, that's exactly what I meant. I guess I could've been a little clearer I suppose. If the private network is set to work or whatever the default is I can't RDP to any devices internal to my network. Try switching yours back from wap to work and testing.

DOD Certificates...

I am running DamageControl 2.0vr2 and cannot seem to set up my AKO account, that's my military account. It worked when I was running the 1.5's such as Fresh 1.1 and such. Anyone have any idea how I get the DOD certs onto my phone and if that will indeed help? Thanks.
PS I searched!
man, are you talking about your CAC certs? I honestly haven't tried to log in to my account from my phone. Hell it's a pain enough to try and get it working right from home.
Dont think you will get the cert on the phone. I log into my AKO all the time via DC v1. Have not tried it with v2. i just get the accept cert thing then continue in with username stupid password and moronic questions

Well when I was running 1.5 I just had my AKO account set up through the e-mail app and it worked just fine, I never had to log into the actual site. Now I cannot get the imap settings to work at all. I was thinking maybe if I had the certs on the phone running 2.1 it would work. Just a PITA. Have it check for mail every 5 mins or something and forward to another address automatically and have your phone check that address. Ugly. yes. but could work

[Q] Incorrect exchange password after each "interupt'

all,
since this morning I'm the proud owner of a HTC 7 trophy. After some hassle to get my personal exchange certificate on the device, I have the following annoying effect - exchanges looses its password - uncrecoverable unless reseupt of email account on the device.
I set up the exchange connection correctly with the "advanced option" etc - everything runs smoothly, mail sync, calender sync, contacts etc...
however, after each sms, call or whatever, it seems the connection is lost by some means and I get the error "exchange password incorrect" and I'm prompted to re-provide my password. Entering the password does not solve the issue (I keep on getting prompted for the password), only removing the email account on the phone and resetup helps, till the next "interupt" of a sms or a call. Very annoying.
Anyone experienced this and knows a solution?
thx

Sounds like certificate issue to me.
A colleague of mine had almost same problem as you on his laptop. After every restart of his laptop he had to enter password. I gave him proper certificate and his Exchange problems gone.
So, first check your certificate.
There is another possibility. I can access my exchange server using two different addresses, but only one of them is covered by my certificate. I need to use the one from certificate.
If you are sure that your certificate is good, check if your server address match your certificate.
thx, any idea of what the certificate issue could be? (so I can try to give some more dierection to the exchange guys here?)
(I'm using the certificate generead for my login and server name is correct)
Strange is though that on my P3300 (WM6.1) with the same certificate, it works like a breeze...

How does your Exchange account tile looks like?
Like Outlook or Google mail tile?
The exchange account looks like your outlook tile...
In the mean time I use my WM6.1 device again and I noticed that indeed there I had te re-enter my exchange password again as well after reboot (so not after each interupt) which is then nicely accepted by exchange...
My trophy is back in the box until I have a solution - little disappointment...

Exchange tile should look as Outlook tile, that's good.
Asking for password after reboot on WM6.1 - NOT GOOD! If it happens every time after reboot, than you have certificate problem or server address you use is not covered by your certificate. You have same problem on both devices, but because the way WM6.1 works you do not see a problem as often as on WP7 device.
Copy your certificate file on your PC. Double click that file and certmgr will open. You will see Certificates - Current User, and a folder with name of the file you just double clicked. Open that folder and you will see Certificates folder inside. Open Certificates folder and you should see what is in your certificate file.
In Issued To you should see name of your server, for example exchange.yourcompany.com
In Intended Purposes you should see Server Autentification
Also check Expiration Date.
To have VALID certificate, you need to see exact address that you use and date should be some date in the future.
Hope this will help to resolve your certificate issue.
btw. that is not my phone in the picture (that's not trophy after all), I just wanted to be sure that your account is set up as Outlook (because it should be that way).
mmm, thx for the tip...
what I see is that the certificate is not issued to the server, but to my userid and the intend is "proves your identity to a remote computer"
my I do need to install the corporte root certificate as well..

You need the one that says "Ensures the identity of a remote computer", and that one is for your server.
I only have the one I mentioned above, the corporate root certificate is for the correct policy.
I wondering though what the differnce is between "proves your identity to a remote computer" and "ensures the identity of a remote computer"
any message i could give to the tech guys over here?

Those two certificates do opposite things.
The one you have is to assure your server that you have right to use that user and password, something like: "yes he is the one he is telling you he is".
Another one (the one I have) is to assure that your server is the server that should receive your user and password, something like: "yes that is the right exchange server, feel free to send my data to it anytime you want".
I hope it's clear now.
very clear - thx, but no clue what to do now ;-)

Open your Exchange server from browser.
https://exchange.yourserver.com (or whatever your exchange address is.
If you use Chrome, you will get red or green lock, depending of address of server that you use for that, and certificate installed on your PC. Green one preferred.
In any case, click on that lock.
Something like "The identity of this website has been verified by ..."
And you have Certificate information link, click on it.
You will see "Ensures the identity of a remote computer" in purposes.
Issued to should be address of your Exchange server. Be sure that you use that address, and not any other one to connect on your devices.
Click on detail, and then Copy to file. You will see export wizard. Click Next. Any format should do. Finish the wizard and you will have certificate on your PC.
There is no difference what you should do in case of red or green lock. Only difference is in the displayed message. In case of red lock you will see something like "The identity of this website has not been verified." That probably only means that you used some other address for server than the one that have certificate. In worst case it means that certificate is not valid.
Easiest way to transfer it on the phone is to put it on some website. I have mine on one of companies websites in password protected folder, so I can open it over IE on my mobile at anytime. Another way is to send it to your e-mail. Or do whatever you did to transfer first certificate.
Install on phone, try and let me know the results.
it's crystal clear, howevern, I have no clue what to do know .... ;-( (besides using my old artemis...)

Have you downloaded certificate from your exchange server and install it to your phone?
If you do not understand my previous post (with details how to get your certificate), you have 3 choices:
1. You can ask someone to help you to follow the steps I explained in my previous post.
2. You can ask your IT to give you certificate that will assure identity of your exchange website.
3. You can send me PM with external address of your exchange server, and I will download certificate and send it to you.
thx!
I spoke to they IT guys - they acknowledge the issue.... and will work on it.
i installed the certifacte via the procedure i've been told... (adn again on my other device it works like a breeze...)

[Q] Microsoft Exchange Server - ActiveSync - Security Settings

I am working at a small business (5 employees) that uses the stripped-down version of Exchange Server that is part of Small Business Server 2011 for its company email. The IT consultant who set it up clearly left everything set to defaults, including the security policy for users connecting to the Exchange Server via ActiveSync. Upon trying to configure the stock email app on my phone (rooted S4 running stock 4.4.4) to send/receive my company email, I was faced with these permission requests:

I assume that there is nothing that I can do on my phone to circumvent those powers - and no way in he11 I'd ever agree to them - so I wonder how the Exchange Admin could change the ActiveSync security settings so as NOT to require all that ****. In my case, the Admin is a stoner who will do whatever I ask him to do - but only if it's third grade simple. If I could find a technote article that tells him exactly how and where to disable all that crap, there's a 99% chance that he'll do it. But I have to make it as easy as eating pie at Thanksgiving. I've spent about 45 minutes Googling this, but can't find anything. Surely there's a sort of Idiot's Guide somewhere that covers this. Can anyone kindly point me in the right direction?
As a work around, you can try using Nine Email App (its a paid app, but first two weeks are free to try). It allows you to set the security policy to "app level" instead of "device level". What I've seen happen on my phone when i do this, is that then even if the server policy mandates something, that is not enforced on my phone (at least some of those things are not enforced, not sure if all of them are).
Its not the answer you are looking for, but hope this helps...

Whoops I accidently pressed thanks.
Anyhow, Mailwise let's you ditch the PIN requirement during account setup.
I can remember if it let's you separate app and device levels like Nine.
