I've been following this forum in anticipation of receiving my HD. Now that it is in hand, I don't know where to begin...So, I'm asking all you experienced HD owners out there for help. If you had to do it all over again, what would you do with your HD once unboxed and charged. Please provide a list of important settings and tweaks that is a must for new HD owners.

thanks for all the info, definitely love this device.
flash the rom lol. after installing all my apps, I found flashing the rom to one with all the performance tweaks and what not gave a better response. then install what you want after. also, get a screen protector put on asap if you plan on doing it. that way not 1 spec of dirt gets under it. If i could do it again, thats the major thing that bothers me.
Runs Android 1.6
Uses the HTC Framework (HTC Mail + Exchange Sync)
Has everything working (camera, bluetooth, wifi, etc)
Is Fast
Can anyone help me out? Particularly point 1 combined with point 2 are hard to find. But maybe I'm just missing it as a lot of ROM posters leave out this vital piece of information (how can you post a rom and not mention what version of Android it runs?).
Try this one. 32a only.
It's a bit laggy and unpolished though:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=534415
HoFo doesn't run on Donut either... HTC did release a 1.6 with SenseUI for it's Tattoo device but as it had a smaller screen it could never be ported without display problems, AFAIK.
The "vital piece of information" isn't always specified because devs may assume that people know that the official SenseUI is running on Cupcake. They mention the HTC base build most of the time, though.
Unfortunately, I think that what you're looking for doesn't exist and never will... Now if only we could get a camera driver working on 2.0 soon
hey been using nsfans 6.5 rom for a long time now, wouldn't mind trying a new rom.
looking for quick and stable, which rom is better nuvogues 7.0 or baroggi44's new build...anyone tried both yet?
Fair question!
I always encourage people to try both! Barogi44 was pretty much inspiration to try my hand at my own!
And to be totally honest, NuVogue 7.0 is a little bit of a dive in a different direction from the previous 6. It has some features, such as a unique UI, that might not even continue in 8.0 and beyond (I wanted to tinker with it, but it can sometimes slow down the system a little more than I like).
Two things about my build: first and foremost: I put stability above all else when I cook my ROMs - if a program will make it unstable, I won't include it - you can install it yourself, later if you really want it - but if I think it will compromise stability, I'm leaving it out. Second: I always hear that mine boots extremely quickly - but I don't think "boot time" should be a determining factor in which ROM you use! It's always about what you're looking for in your build - which programs are pre installed, how stable the ROM is, etc...
If you have the bandwidth and a little bit of time, I say: give'em both a try! Barogi44 certainly has more users than I do (based on thread length and feedback alone!), so to be honest - that may just be a tell tale sign in itself!
NuAngel
I'm currently using your latest rom now NuAngel. It is fast and stable, which important to me.
I flashed to barogi44's latest build durng my post, it boots slower than yours...his home screen is like the htc-default except abit flashier. but i like your drop/up down list layout as well.
where' gps in your rom?
also if v7 wasn't so large, there's a lot of things i wouldn't put in there...maybe i can try cooking my own rom, what apps do i need to try...anyways NuAngel, the rom is work great so far, i like the photo 'scratch' effect for pictures, kind of neat....sometimes its just little things that make me like a rom more than another, good job!
Thanks for the comments. Yeah, NuVogue has gotten VERY big lately, but that's the addition of the care-pack: if you look under File Manger and the root of the phone, you can see there is a folder called "NuVogue Care Pack" - that folder is just a bunch of Installers that you can use to install many popular programs (including a better version of the EZ Input Keyboard, Swype, if you want it, Google Maps, and more!) - without the need to take the time downloading all of the giant CABs. If you don't want any of those programs, just delete the NuVogue Care Pack folder - it will warn you that these are system files, but you can just go ahead and delete them, it won't cause any problems.
As far as where's the GPS? That I don't know - not sure what "GPS" app you're looking for. GPS works perfectly in other programs such as Sprint Navigator, Google Maps, Trapster, etc... but if you're looking for a particular program, I'm unsure what you're used to using.
Also - if you'd like to switch the interface to the Manila style with the large clock, you can simply click START > SETTINGS > HOME SCREEN > slide right to ITEMS > and check the box that says TouchFLO. I like Titanium, though - I find it much faster.
Any further questions, just put them in the official NuVogue thread.
NuAngel
baroggi44's ROM is a newer build of WM6.5 where as nuvogue7.0 is an older version. Don't let the numbers mess with. Just becasue nuvogue7.0 is 28014 doesn't mean that its newer version of WM6.5. I can't find the tree that shows all of the different builds.
Here is how I see it after trying pretty much everything out there (including Android) on my Vogue:
For the best (IMO) newer 6.5 ROM that includes newer TouchFLO - I'd choose brack21's ROM over on PPCGeeks. It is a ROM that I never had to reboot, found it very stable and fast.
For the Titanium only ROM that fast lean and mean, I'd pick nuvogue 6.0. I did not install 7.0 but am now running 6.0 with few Titanium customizations: installed Home Screen Customizer from Marketplace, which gave me Contacts and App launcher in Titanium. I also installed Titanium Notifications add-in which gives me notifications in Titanium too. (The only problem with that is that notifications do not display correctly as there is some overlapping font issue if you had a missed call). Perhaps 7.0 is best for that...
i'm using nuvogues 7.0, so far so good...i'll try the one you suggested, thanks for the input.
Thread moved to General. Next time, please use either the Q&A thread or post under General if you have questions like these.

Very true, but in my experience and the experience of the people that use my ROM, newer doesn't always mean better. If you ask "the average user" to tell you the difference between ANY of the builds, they have no answers.
28014 mostly expanded on a few Internet Explorer features - but I also find it far better at memory management & stability. I reboot my phone once every 5 days or so. When I used 23569 or other 23xxx series builds I was 2 days at best, and I hear the same from several of my users and friends. Don't get me wrong, there are other builds in the 28xxx series that are just as horrible.
I'm not trying to put down Barogi44's ROM by any means, but I just think "newer" isn't necessarily "better."

You are right newer doesn't necessarily mean better especially when it comes to MS. I just thought that I would point out 28014 is an older build. I really haven't really noticed much difference between the different builds. Somewhere the start icon was moved to the bottom. However,I am currently not running either.

------ Got Bad Battery life in android? I can help!! ------
after being given the idea by JW, i have done extensive testing with various radios using current widget. I can confirm that the worst radio you can have for battery life in android, by far, is 2.15.xx and 2.14.xx
With radio 2.10.50.28_2 or 2.08.50.05 i am getting a constant 6/7 mA in standby, even with wifi still active and around 100mA less useage when phone on and being used!
you can download them here:
2.08.50.05 - is here
2.10.50.28_2 - is here
flash them in bootloader, boot to WM (you may need to reset your date and time - flashing radios sometims changes it, then boot to android and enjoy!
If you are looking for an older version than the above, please browse the root of our FTP available here http://cleanex.htcfanboys.com/

Dear Gavin, thank you.
You are the man
and as mynamesteve said, Christmas has come early
Thanx .... giving it a try ..... Greatly appreciated ......
Just booted up after flash. Amazing speed, everything seems working 101%, probably the best ROM ever made for the HD2. Will test further and report if any issues found.
Still running ancient Radio 2.08.50.08_2, should I update?... to wich one?... (yes, battery life sucks with this one but it always has and I doubt any radio will improve it much...) Does it need to be a Radio ending in xxxxx_2 or it doesnt matter? Any feedback on newer Radios or what's the best one?
Gavin... U know it Simply perfect!
Cheers guys! Keep the feedback coming, and let me know of any issues you may encounter!

For Ultra, the LeftSoftKey registry (ie HKLM/Software/HTC/manila/HomeLSKPath) didnt work anymore. This did not happen on previous Ultra. I was trying to map it to "\windows\taskmgr.exe"
Welcome back Gavin! We missed u!! Wish your GF for a quick recovery!!

I have it set to contacts and it fine here! Use ultra myself.
T-Mobile UK have released the v3.14.110 rom upgrade for the HD2. I am currently using the V1.72.110.4 ROM. I have seen a number of older comments about the upgrade but I would welcome any recent feedback from people who have just upgraded. Is it worthwhile, are the changes significant enough, does it improve radio/battery performance and what sort of things don't work as well as before?
Thanks in advance for your help.
I do not recommend to update
I've recently updated from German T-Mobile 1.72.111.4 to 3.14.111.1 GER.
Because I own my device only for a few weeks, I can describe only a few visible changes now.
Unfortunately, I have carry out no improvements. Only the following disadvantages:
Solid black Sense tab backgrounds instead of shaded grey ones. Read on »
The touch screen seems to react too much sensitively.
Scrolling in Sense is much more sluggish. I don't like the look and feel at all.
Older versions (?) of Digital Compass or Google Streets (I'm missing the 'Destination:' button below compass)
3 megabyte less free mass storage (208 MB instead of 211 MB ;-)
The wrong 404 page is not shown any more if you stay offline in Opera. But Opera without a client area behaves unstable.
The control panel applet "Screen" is missing (Touchscreen calibration, Activate ClearType).
From your comments and others that I have read, there seems to be very few positive reasons to upgrade. 3.14 seems to have a number of bugs and loss of some important functionality. I'll stay with 1.72.
Many thanks
