with the amount of information available in these forums, needless threads clogs things up and makes it harder for people to find helpful information.
there should only be one CM7 thread, with relevant information in it. not a new one posted every single time an update is put out.

yup.. better just make an update for the first thread
will flash it this evening..
its probably because that one was called pre-beta3 so may confuse some new people. but would be nice is that someone starts a thread just called "Cyanogen Mod 7 Pre-Beta" and maybe get it a sticky.
Lots of additions and fixes ....chaaaaa chiiinnnnggf

i can understand that, but at least make the first post with a compilation of changes and bug fixes. don't just clog up the forums needlessly. anyone interested in CM7 would have checked the last page on the other thread and seen everyone talking about the update.
Totally agree.

Heads up. Camcorder works with videocam illusion from market. Not at full potential though.

Boots for me, lasts about 15 seconds, then the phone hard reboots back to the Dual Core screen. After that it never gets past the CM7 boot animation.
My install method:
1. Boot to Fastboot
2. fastboot erase boot
3. fastboot erase system
4. fastboot erase userdata
5. fastboot erase cache
6. boot into recovery (5.0.2.0 from Rom Manager)
7. Install zip from SD Card
8. Choose the Correct zip
9. Install it
10. Check log for errors (none)
11. Boot
I'm going to try the recovery linked on the download page for Pre-Beta4. I'll post my progress as edits on this post so that it will (hopefully) help others who run into the same issue without them having to search too much.
edit1: Didn't mention that I did the steps listed above twice and had it lock up after 15 seconds both times.
edit2: Linked recovery on the download page did the same thing, however I did end up getting it to work.
**FIX** For those with this problem. After you install the ROM, boot up, hang, and get stuck at the boot animation... go recovery again and wipe Data and Cache. This made it so that the next bootup was fine. To test this theory, I wiped again with the steps above, flashed the ROM, booted, and hung up after 15 seconds with a hard reset then it wouldn't boot. I pulled the battery, popped it back in, went into recovery, and wiped data and cache again, rebooted no problem. For those that ask... pulling the battery itself did not fix the problem as I tried that previous to this fix and still was stuck at the boot animation.
I notice that this didn't come with the 1.9 Faux kernel, max OC is at 1100 - was there something wrong with the faux kernel or was this an oversight?
edit3: I tip my hat to the Atrix Dev Team. You guys are amazing! I wish I knew more about how to do this stuff. Up until late last month I hadn't programmed for about 7 years (CompSci Major - but that was a long time ago). I'm picking it back up so that I can do this kinda stuff late in my Atrix's life or at least with my next phone! I re-read my java books from college, and I picked up an Android development book that got good reviews. If anyone has recommended reading, I'm all ears!
If you have any recommended reading to help, I'm all ears.

First off let me start by saying I now know what i did wrong. Next is there anyway i can fix it?
I didn't backup anything and then managed to erase everything... I have CM 6 but as of now all i can get is the boot screen. I tried recovery but that won't work becasue there is no backup. also Before I erased everything i managed to turn s on so now i have no way to turn that off correct? Im basicly looking for a way to restore my phone but if it cant be done then i understand. Right now I am using a samsung vibrant with Nero v3 voodo and understand how to install custom roms now
i have almost the same problem as you I don't know what to do I've looked everywhere.

What do you mean... erase everything? How?
Possible steps:
1. factory reset from H-Boot, see if it boots up normally, then re-root.
2. Install PD15IMG from development section, look it up.
Good luck.
Man, do I feel like an idiot...

Which recovery did you have installed and which h-boot
Did you try seeing if you could s-off through adb? Im not sure if this will work but Download the files you need to get s-off from ur computer and put it on ur SD card via a card reader or some sort, after you get the necessary files put the SD card back into ur phone. Hook it up to ur computer and maybe you can s-off through adb if you can get ur computer to recognize ur phone. Then IF it works, download a rom via computer to it SD card and boot into recovery and flash. Let me know what happens if it works or not

Should have taken my advice from this thread.
I just went thru the same thing and couldn't restore any of the backups it just kept getting stuck on the flash screen. I downloaded the ice glacier rom on to a spare sd card and flashed it thru hboot recovery and it looks like that did the trick.
hi guys if you still cant get your phones working try mobiletechvideos.com, they fixed my phone , my phone wouldn`t do anything .good reliable service, yes its in texas.
Although you didnt create any backups, is it possible that someone can create a backup of a fresh ROM and send that to you?

Just take the SD card and put a new ROM on it. Then go to recovery, wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalkik cache.
Then install zip from sd card and find it.
I like using Royal Panache 1.3.
I think it's stock Mobilicity ROM but no stock software from carrier. Good stuff.
MIUI and Cyanogenmod 7.1 are also good candidates.
I'm currently testing out ICS and you can test it out as well (but in your case, probably try a working one first =P) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1383629&page=1

I have come across at least 10 people now that the below method of restoring your phone, after trying EVERY other way that you can think of, works for
I can not, and will not, guarantee that this will work for you, but, it does seem to work when all else fails..
Now, i can expect of you to have tried at least a few of the following before doing this:
- a CWM Data Wipe
- a CWM Backup Restore
- a (EC07/DL17) clean rom flash (from within CWM)
- a (EC07/DL17) ODIN Restore (Be Careful, heed and read my warning i posted within this same thead before doing this)
IF you have exhausted your creativity with trying to fix your phone, try this:
First, download the following:
Heimdall Frontend: https://github.com/downloads/Benjamin-Dobell/Heimdall/heimdall-suite-1.3.1-win32.zip
Samsung Fascinate's Stock Param.lfs: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18259212/Phone/stock_param.lfs
Continuum Original Recovery [EC07]: http://www.mediafire.com/?pz8p4axk114092j
Continuum Original Param.lfs [EC07]: http://www.mediafire.com/?7isd5m1dbze6a0t
7-zip (or Winrar for the losers ): You find it!
I am going to make this part quick
Put the phone is Download mode, and install the driver for Heimdall with ziag.exe within that zip... (you will need to check options --> list all devices).
Put the fascinate param.lfs into the param.lfs section.
Extract the original recovery with 7-zip (or other such programs)
Put the extracted file in the Recovery Section in Heimdall.
Click Start
From there, the program should flash the files, and your phone should reboot... You should see scrolling yellow text, and then.... Rejoice
Your phone should be working okay now, but Just to be safe, make sure you restore the original param.lfs before you get too comfortable
If you experience any difficulties, just post them down there vvv ... Again, this is only to be attempted if you have tried everything else
First I can say this method works to get it back up and running (see threads below on what I went through.) With that trailblazer. I haven't re-activated this phone yet because I'm waiting to make sure it works this time. I wanted to turn on wifi to verify I have root (i.e setcpu, titanium, something to that affect.) I can see the wireless signals but I can't connect, any ideas. I would like to have this "stock" version working with a workable nandroid in case, but I guess I dont have to.
edit: you may also want to put this in development instead, probably doesn't matter but I look there first personally for fixes.
yeah, i have heard of this issue with other people...... What other people did to finally fix it was restore a Nandroid backup.... In your case, you can't do that
I would suggest getting blue cwm up and working, and flashing any of the Clean Roms within it.... Making sure you do a data wipe... That's all i can really say :|

I am familiar with adb and fastboot, been using it on my Gnex for a while now.
I unlocked and rooted my N7 when I first got it and everything seemed fine. I could reboot into recovery and flash ROMs, all was well. Then I tried flashing a kernel at one point and when I went to reboot back into the system it got stuck on the splash screen. Now I find that it does it quite frequently during different processes.
Currently:
-If I reboot into recovery via "adb reboot recovery" it goes in no problem.
-If I power my device off and hold the buttons down to open bootloader, then chose load recovery, it gets stuck everytime.
-It also gets stuck trying to boot up to android sometime, not just going into recovery
-The only fix while it is stuck is to hold down buttons and load bootloader, then type: "fastboot reboot"
The only part of the unlock/root process that gave me an issue was the recovery backup command:
mv recovery-from-boot.p recovery-from-boot.bak
But recovery is always there, just sometimes it gets stuck trying to get to it...
What is happening?

if you can go to fastboot, then do it manually if you want: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312

For the manual, Follow the instruction, step by step http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312
For the toolkit, you dont have to push it to your phone, leave it in your computer, go to fastboot then use the Restock function in the toolkit to restock your phone.
If you didn't download the stock image by the toolkit, it will ask you to download the image, just choose an option that allows you to pick the img from your computer.

I really appreciate all the helps.Everything went well. But got stuck on the X animation. Os is not loading . I waited more than 20 mins.
Turn your phone off, then go to bootloader, choose the option to go to Recovery Mode. You'll see the android dude lying with a red triangle. Press power or power+up+down or some combinations like that, I dont really remember, to enter the Options of Recovery mode. Wipe cache and do a factory data reset. Reboot.
How on terra do you even managed to "accidentally" format your phone?
Everything good now. Got my nexus up and running again.
I'm more surprised on why people don't read up on everything BEFORE rooting the phone in the first place? Surely it's common sense to know how to recover the phone should something go wrong?...

2many android devices with bloatware coming out what makes it, 70% shame on Samsung(they releases lots and lots of low end devices per country)
os, i know i registred in june of this year, but i use xda since 2011
Okay, so I was listening to a YouTube video via Popup Browser BETA. When the song finished, I tried closing the window, but it wouldn't let me interact with the window. Not sure why. I just figured since the app was in beta it was just confused, so I went to the settings->running applications->I force closed the app. But for some reason, the little window still wouldn't go away. So I decided to reboot my device. Bad idea, apparently...
Now whenever I boot up my phone it'll vibrate, display the Google logo for a few seconds, and then... it goes to a blank black screen. Not a clue why. I've tried:
- Leaving it to charge and rebooting
- Leaving it in the blank black screen
- Booting into recovery, then trying to reboot the device from there
- Clearing cache partition
Nothing works. I still can't boot up my phone again.
I'm running Slimbean 4.2.1 (not the latest version). There really isn't anything that might have triggered this. I can still charge my phone (the charging animation still occurs) and I can still go into CWM Recovery. I'd really rather not have to install a new ROM or anything... but if I have to, is there a way to extract the data I have on my phone now while in recovery or something?
Any suggestions?
EDIT: This has been FIXED. Moderators, if you see this, you can close this thread. If anyone else has this problem, try reflashing your current version of your ROM, that's how I fixed mine. I'm not responsible for damage to your device.
Why haven't you tried reflashing your rom without wiping data?

I could try that.. but isn't there a chance it'll corrupt the data for certain apps or no? I'd just really rather not loose all of that.

It's not going to hurt anything. Make a CWM backup of your data if you want.

No way of corrupting your data, as long as you don't select to wipe data partition or data is already corrupted. But this is strange that your phone gone crazy like this. Try to reflash your rom without wiping data and see if your phone will boot up

I've not got enough free space on my phone I don't think (it's only 16GB, I got about 2GB free).
Unless I'm mistaken the backup will take more than that, yes? Considering I've got a few games apps that probably equate to about 4GB.

Should I reflash with a newer version of the ROM or should I reflash the old one that I'm running?
EDIT: Woops sorry about double post.

Reflash the same version you were running before this accident, as the newest version requires clean flash. If you want to run the latest version and have your data back, reflash the same version you were running before, then backup your data, wipe phone, flash the latest version and restore your data

WOO! Thanks a lot! Booted up perfectly, and no loss of data or anything like that. Only odd things is it seems to have changed my DPI... but I can change that easily so it's not really a bother. It also made me have to update the Virus Definitions on Avast!, not sure why either.
I shall now proceed to thank all of your posts.

Yes either that or perhaps switch to a new one, I've been with semi-stock Android for quite a while now I'm really liking the port of MIUI V5...
