[Q] Extracting APKs from 3.1 roms...possible?

Hey all,
I am not a dev, I just dabble. Anyone try extracting any of the apks from the 3.1 sdk or Xoom? I am not sure if the USB connectivity is modular like that, but that could be useful until Acer gets off its a**.
I know dc13 bricked after trying to flash the Xoom rom, but is what I ask even feasible?
This is not a bump, but I think this is a valid topic. Anyone get any real good looks at the apks included with 3.1 on the xoom or in the sdk? I don't own one anymore so I can't check it and I currently do not have access to my computers to try the sdk.
How easy is it to root a Xoom? is it as easy as it was for us? if that is the case, I could probably go to a best buy, root it, and then do a system dump to my dropbox...logoff and leave >_>
I don't know if it is that easy to root, but I really appreciate the reply and willingness.
No one I know owns a tablet apart from iPad or ipad2. I am actually the first of my friends to have an Android tablet and around school, all I see are apple products. The good thing is that the best buy is like 5 minutes from my university, so it's no hassle going in. Plus the staff there is nice, so they won't mind =P
Theres a real easy one click root available for the xoom. I've got mine rooted and overclocked to 1.6 ghz along with having the sdcard slot working and usb hosting enabled.
Update Alert...

Endgadget report today that Acer will release Android 3.1 next month
So my advice is stop tinkering with OS and wait for the update.

[Q] Debating

I am interested in the Kindle Fire and wanted to know what you guys feel about it. I want a tablet but dont want to break the bank and I also want to be able to put ICS on it. Is the Kindle Fire a good choice?
I was also wondering if you guys would recommend the KF over a windows tablet? I wanted to see what you guys think. Thanks in advance!
Let's put it this way... you'd have to GIVE me a Windows tablet in order for me to have one because I'd never spend money for it.
M$ may have good apps (Office suite), but I'm still not convinced that they have a good OS, something about reinventing the wheel. Give me a unix-flavored OS any day over Windows.
I'm obviously biased.
I dont mind biased answers lol! Doyou have a KF?
Yes, sorry, should have mentioned that I guess.
I purchased it around the new year and put ICS on it about a month ago and I'm not looking back. Yes there are still some issues (HW accel - related), but I don't have a need for that currently, so it's not bothering me.
I can't comment on the windows tablets, but the KF is a great device that is getting a lot of 3rd party development support behind it. It doesn't have loads of memory or storage capacity, but it's done everything I'd want it to do and then some. If you want an ICS tablet, is there really any competition at the $200 price point?
Isn't asus memo coming out soon for 250$
Just buy a kindle and then sell it when memo comes
Thank you for the replies! I ordered a KF last night on amazon.
I think you will like it. I have both a KF and a windows tablet (HP).

External USB Wifi Adapter for Lenovo TPT

Hey Guys!
Just a quick question, I was wondering if there are any working external USB wifi adapter for android, specifically for the Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet. Most of the thread I find have no straight answer. The wifi adapter on the inside is busted as the wifi kept switching on and off on its own and its getting really frustrating, the lenovo guys says its not worth the repair as it cost too much and Im off warranty on this thing already.
I've seen this tutorial
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1721976
but its a bit too vague for me to follow as In not really good with this :C
Ive seen this article as well which seems like its working on a plug and play basis but Im not really sure whether the guys have made any mod to the tablet.

Any Help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

[Q] Yoga Tablet Sub-Forum?

Now that the new Lenovo Yoga Tablet 10 HD+ has a Snapdragon processor, can we get a Yoga Tablet sub-forum?
If I recall correctly, the reason they couldn't create a Yoga Tablet sub-forum in the past was because of the Mediatek processor which didn't comply with the forum requirements.
Moderators?
I also vote for a yoga sub-forum.
In my point of view there is enough stuff to discuss, which especially focus these devices.

Lenovo offers the Android BS for the Yoga 10 HD+ (B8080) as OpenSource-Code-download on the product's support page.
I think this is one more reason to open a sub-forum for this device, isn't it?
+1 from me
Actually, I just came straight from the other thread to open one requesting this myself.
+ 1 for a Lenovo Yoga 10 HD+ subforum - root? brightness issue?
+ 1 for a Lenovo Yoga 10 HD+ subforum. :good:
The open source-code of Lenovo is published here
By the way: Is there any solution or a guide for rooting the device? Is anything known about updating on Android 4.4 and are there any other roms available for this device till now?
Sorry for asking questions like this, but as I own the Lenovo Yoga 10 HD+ just for some weeks, I don't know much about that. Also searching in this forum didn't help me. There are just some Rooting-Guides for the Lenovo Yoga 10 (which is already running Android 4.4, as far as I researched?), but for the HD+ I didn't find anything.
One other question @ all Lenovo Yoga 10 HD+ owners:
I have problems with the brightness-settings. When I use the Lenovo Yoga 10 HD+ outdoor and I need a brightened screen, I switch of the brightness-automatic mode. But even if I do so, the tablet regulates the brightness of the screen down - sometimes after some minutes, sometimes even after some seconds. Anyone else here, who has the same issue or even has an solution for that?
Thank you and sorry for my bad english!
It's not my native tongue...
Regards,
Asmaron
+1 for a Yoga HD+ Subforum!
Yesterday I got an update to Android 4.4.2 - no problems so far.
Are there any news or rumours for an Android L Update yet?

Do you have the Wifi or 3g version?
I hope for the 3g version, then my tablet would get the update soon too.
I also hope that we get a sub-forum soon. The tablet is awesome and there is room for improvement with custom ROMs.
I think somebody already made a start: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/recovery-cwm-lenovo-yoga-10-hd-b8080-h-t2811815

I've got the Wifi Version but i'm wishing you luck
It's weird that i haven't found a official announcement for the latest update yet.
Is there an official changelog?
And for the records: +1 for a yoga hd+ subform
Sub forum would be good
+1 for the sub forum.
Come on!
There are even Yoga 2 tablets now! A dedicated sub forum is long overdue.

My +1 on a new Yoga forum, I'm a new Yoga 2 8 owner.
Yoga 2 10" here. Agreed on finding a forum home for this.
very interested in the yoga to tablet I'm pretty disappointed to find that there is not a sub forum for the yoga series on xda.
Just bought a Yoga 2 10" at a bargain price and with VAT cash back by redemption.
Hopefully that will mean more sales in the UK. Would be great to see a dedicated forum.
Would also like to see a dedicated spot for the Yoga on xda. Now that the device architecture has changed, it would be nice to get some development going for it.
Mine is officially ordered as of last night. The Pro 13.3 just sounds like a complete monster and too good to pass up on. A stereo system paired with sub and a projector on a tablet. As more Android devices are going Intel, I think development should start picking up.
+1 Lenovo Yoga SubForum
+1 in the idea to get a subforum for the lenovo yoga hd+.
Please anyone help us
Come one with Yoga 2 sub-forum!
count me in
I'd also love a Yoga subforum! I just got my Tablet 2 Pro yesterday, and although it's a good tablet already, I'm very excited to get it rooted and fix some performance issues it's having. A subforum would definitely help with that!

[Q] is there any possible way to run android wear software on a gear V700

Hi,
I hope someone can help me, I love the look of the new android wear watches and I've noticed that the gear live is the same spec as the gear V700. This maybe a very stupid question but does anyone think if you root the v700 you could then install the android wear ROM ?
Like I say I'm sorry if this is a silly question I'm just hoping its possible.
Thanks in advance
Lee B
