dhd - Desire HD General

anyone can tell for a perfect rom for dhd fully functional

Start here or here.
It's best you choose and try for yourself. Check out some screenshots too from the rom threads for style/experience ideas. Plus a couple of screenshots in my sig.

I've tried most of the ROMs in the devs section and I have to say that the Virtuous Unity ROMs are the most complete for me. It looks the business, runs fast and efficiently, and is 99% fully functional from first boot. The 1% left over is the best part about it though as this is fixed with patches almost instantly showing true commitment from the ROM developers and supporting devs in the very pages of this forum. The additional patches sometimes available not only fix problems but help improve the VU experience itself, ie, bulletproof tweaks.
Hopes this helps!

Ive been running cyanogenmod7 on and off since i first rooted (about two weeks ago) ive tried MIUI amd a couple of sence roms. leedroid and er3bus by jsl but keep going back to CM7
i think im going to stick with CM7 for now.
Best thing to do is just flash a few and see how they go for you. Everyone is different everyone likes different things.

fully functional, including dolby mobile and camera is deffinatly Revolution HD 5.2.6 and 6.1 except the small camera bug.
I am using 6.1 now...

I'm really into MIUI at the moment. (1.8.26 because 1.9.26 has an Android Market crash bug for some people.) It's quite a different visual experience all the way through.
I especially like the Launcher transition effects (cube), the option of up to 9 homescreens, the style of the popup windows, plus links to cool wallpapers etc. The only thing I didn't like were the ringtones so I installed the CyanogenMod ones.
The first time I tested it - I wasn't into it. I was CM7 for a long time.
EDIT: The Android Market bug mentioned above is actually addressed and quickly and easily fixed as per the FAQ.
`Just go to Menu > Settings > System > Language & Input Settings
And change your language to English (United States)'

+1 MIUI was the ROM that I was on for the longest of time. The support of the community is huge and there is an update every friday so you dun really need to check out the forum every now and then to see whether an update is out
It is a very stable ROM for everyday use and the newest version' kernel should be quite battery friendly as I am getting 2ma drain on standy which never happened before (Previously it was 4ma) and this is with WIFI + 3G + facebook + google sync on every 15 minutes.

Funny I just set my phone up with miui yesterday just to give it another go. I'm really liking it so far. (Don't think I'd fully set it up the last time before ditching it.)
I'm not a fan of the ringtones tho how did you install the CM7 ones?

Yeah I was the same - I don't think I set it up and gave it a chance before when I tried it.
To get the CM7 ringtones - download the CM7 rom (which is just a zip/archive file). Double click it to open it and go to system - media - audio - ringtones. Copy any or all of the ringtones you like.
Then on your phone - SD card - MIUI - ringtone - paste the ringtones.
Then you have a cool phone, rom AND ringtones.

Got it sorted. Thanks man.

Try to use ARHD.

I took MIUI off again. I charged my phone on Saturday night took it off charge about 8 on Sunday morning and by lunchtime had 50% battery, I'd only sent 3 texts and made one phonecall (which didn't connect) it could have been leedroids kernal as I was trying it out too but as for now I'm back with CM7

Custom ROM for the Desire Z Bell NAM phone? Please post you opinions if you have used a custom ROM with the Bell Desire Z and have had a good or bad experience. I ask this because the Bell and C2 threads are intertwined for the most part but there has to be subtle and not so subtle differences due to carriers, services, etc.
Most of the customs ROMs are built around T-Mobile G2 platform.........sooo any recomends for the Bell platform specifically? I read a whole bunch but the ROM threads are seriously long, lol, and I may have missed a few things that may be missing for specific providers.
Use the latest Virtuous ROM and kernel. They run flawlessly on my Desire Z from Bell (on the Rogers network). I use the Sense version for the social phonebook functionality and other functions. The Vanilla version is great if you want stock Android, but you miss the awesome Sense widgets which I believe creates an amazing Android experience.
I'm currently running CM 6.1.1 on a Bell DZ (although i'm unlocked and on Telus) and haven't had any issues. GPS works, WiFi works, haven't tried Bluetooth yet however. Everything runs smoothly and I got a cool new boot animation as well

Yes. I second this. It runs very well "out of the box" and the latest (0.9.0) version the "default" (not "advanced") flavour is comfortably overclocked to ~1GHz when running tasks and underclocked when screen is off so it has great battery life too.
I've been using it as my daily driver. I, too, like the Sense integration of social networks and contacts. This is a really great communications device with this ROM.
MIUI , no questions
I've used Virtuous and it is one of the best I've tried. It doesn't have many new things, since the DZ already has Sense, but it's still a really nice ROM.
From my experiences, cm 6.1.1, virtuous 0.9.0 and MIUI are all reliable enough to use daily, and dangit! you couldn't ask for 3 more diverse choices.
Give each one a try, set them up how ya like em, do nandroids of each, then restore a different one every couple of days and just settle into one.
I prefer Virtuous because I personally dig Sense...But MIUI with laucher pro is sick and slick. Then again, CM6 has to be the most popular custom ROM out there...for good reason!
I guess you'll just have to try em all!
Oh yeah, I used gingervillain for a day. Think it has a little bit of work before it's a daily rom, but yeah, that'll be great when cm7/gingervillain get all sorted out.

Thanks guys.....will give the Virtuous first try.
I've used stock, the Euro WWE, CM6, Virtuous 0.8.1, MIUI, and CM7 nightly #11.
My feelings towards them all:
Stock - Overloaded with crap. Slow. Takes forever to boot (excluding the fast boot, ie Sleep mode).
Euro WWE - Same as stock w/o the extra apps
CM6 - I did not like this AT ALL. It also ate my battery. Cool boot video though.
Virtuous 0.8.1 - I liked this one quite a bit but there was an annoying bug with the trackball wake and I was almost never being notified of new emails. I used this on 3 desire z's with the same results. I recommend Virtuous if you are into Sense. It's not too different than stock, though.
MIUI - This one opened my eyes and I really wanted to stick with it, but it had a ton of issues for me. The lockscreen kept disappearing and Wifi would not stay on after reboots. The trackball wake option would not turn off after turning it on the first time. Things like that made me weary of this ROM. I tried an early version and also a later one from the beginning of Jan. I don't see anyone else complaining of those specific issues, though, so it may have just been me.
CM7 nightly #11 - This one is my new favorite by far. I really like gingerbread and this ROM is very lean and mean. Between trying MIUI and CM7 I have ditched Sense completely. It's so much more of a 'cleaner', 'pure' experience without Sense. There's less clutter, things just seem simpler, there's less crap that I don't use (browsing facebook stuff through contact list, etc.) The stock dialer is so much better since the contact list is just on another tab, instead of another app completely, and it has a favorite contacts tab (which also automatically adds frequently called people to the list).
I would definitely recommend trying a non-sense based ROM such as MIUI or CM7. They both have better dialers, contact lists, and SMS apps (the HTC one has bugs). They are both leaner and simpler. HTC menus are packed with way too many options, even just adding items to homescreens is overkill. There are some nice things such as the way you set the time on alarms in Sense, and the HTC hub (some nice ringtone sets in there), but not I don't miss much else. CM7 and MIUI both come with a lot of great rings as well. One of the things I liked most about Sense (the 'people' app) is now one of the things I dislike the most. I miss the Sense camera a lot, I am hoping someone can port that over to non-sense ROMs eventually. However the stock Gallery app is much better than the HTC gallery. Another reason not to use Sense is because certain things such as bluetooth are slightly crippled (can't use Wii-mote), and Samba wifi sharing has issues on sense too. Who knows what else. I found HTC sense syncing also brought my phone to a crawl at least once each day.
Hope that helps you in your journey!
I use a DZ on Bell and I would recommend updating the radio to the latest version as I had constant connection problems with reception for calling/data after using custom roms.
I'm currently using GingerVillian and its working great, very smooth and no lag. No major issues so far and I haven't had any fc's. The only issue so far is that I don't get voicemail notifications (not sure if its the rom or Bell). Also, keep in mind that this rom does not have Sense (I like sense, but I'm willing to use a rom without it so I can try out Gingerbread).

Virtuous 0.9.0 works great with me. A lot of issues cleaned up since 0.8 Modified stock kernel is plenty fast and has no bugs. Everything just works. If you want to OC, use the virtuous kernels; I noticed a few bugs with the other.
In my personal opinion MIUI was great, but I found it slower and less consistent than virtuous.
Gingervillain was also really nice.
Last time I used a cm7 nightly, it was obvious that it was still a work in progress...

Im running gingervillain 1.5 on my NAM and I absolutely love it. Its smooth, no lag, pretty much perfectly stable.
Currently testing the Virtuous 0.9.0 Sense ROM with the advanced kernel and quite happy with it so far, 3 days now no issues at all. Stable and smooth.
Will back up in a few days and test the MIUI, Cryo and Ginger as well, may as well........
Tried out the GingerVillian 1.5 & wow!!! Really smooth ROM & works perfectly with NAM Bell! Will keep this baby for a while!

Looking for a new ROM, been using Redemption 2.4 nothing else comes close....

Hey everyone. So I've been using the Redemption ROMs now for quite sometime. I've been looking lately for another ROM as I want to try something a but different but nothing seems to come close in means of speed and battery life. I tried CM7, Sky Raider, a leaked GB, and another that I forget the name and none of them compare to this ROM. Has anyone else found a better ROM than Redemption? Mainly I would like the ability to overclock as well as Sense 3.0, if that combination is even possible.
Thanks in advance, AT

Awesome, looking at it now. Question though...since I'm under 10 posts I can't ask him there. Is the 2.4 version downoad link broken for you guys? The latest I can get is the 2.3.1
Last I recall, the download was hosted elsewhere, idk where.

Yea its hosted at The Mik Mik which is down due to upgrades. I've been using IR 2.3 and 2.4 since I got my incredible back in March but I've recently moved on to the gingersense roms since theyre blazing fast but theyre battery hogs.
I used Redemptive Revolution for a long time, but the interface got old. I started trying the Z roms like WarmZ which I liked a lot. But WarmZ had some stability issues, and a buddy kept talking about his contract being up and getting the Evo 3D. So I started trying Sense 3.0... the Uber Kingdom rom. It looks wonderful, and I'm quite happy with that, but it's definitely not terribly solid yet. It does seem stable, but some stuff is just not working (settings for some apps like weather freeze and FC, text not visible on e-mail widget, etc).
I would follow its progress, as there's only a few spotty issues I've noticed, and the updated interface with Sense 3.0 is really quite nice.
There's always MIUI. It's still in beta, so but is updated weekly. If you're interested head over to http://www.miui.us and check it out. It's what I use and have used for as long as I can remember. I've tried other roms, flashed two today, and yet I keep restoring MIUI within a matter of a couple hours.
Hop on IRC (link at the top of the page), plenty of people around to help out if there's a need for it.
What is the channel? I've been interested in MIUI, but I haven't left CM yet.

Vote for MIUI as well. I try to go back to other roms, but the really stable ones (SR4, Magnolia, Redemption) are just boring and outdated. Sense 1.0 is boring. Then when I want to try a newer Sense rom, they're either battery hogs (I'm looking at you, GingerSense roms) or slow and laggy (Sense 3.0 roms). Then I go to CM7 and have no issues, but it just doesn't compare to MIUI. MIUI is speedy, and the stock applications (normally I replace them with Go SMS pro, or alternate cameras etc) are amazing. The theme support is amazing. I don't even use the stock launcher (too iPhone-y for me), but with LPP, it truly is an awesome rom.
If you're out to try a new rom, give MIUI a try!

Best ROMs for the DINC (I really have tried them all for a at least 4 days each):
Froyo = Sky Raider 4.0 - This one Rocks, and I would love to see it on a GB Platform with Sense 2.0
GB = MIUI - I don't always use (or like) the Mac-like stock MIUI Launcher, but you can use both ADW-ex and Launcher Pro to make it very Sense-like. This ROM makes the DINC last 28 hours with moderate-to-heavy use. It is solid and I have yet to force a reboot. I tried it overclocked, and that does tend to make it FC, but you really don't need to OC it to make it silky smooth. I ran this rom against a Thunderbolt in the Best Buy store, and it beat it in almost every category (screen transitions, app opening/closing, market searches, and even web browsing - what even web-browsing you say? - yes - even web browsing). The rep was scratching his head regarding the web-browsing, but we tried it against a few other phones, and the only one close was a DroidX not the X2 running Gingerbread (from one of the other customers).
My one complaint with all the GB roms is the crappy stock email client with no search functionality (I use Exchange), so I'm waiting with baited breath for a Sense-base GB rom.
Does anyone know if the new Gingerbread with Sense running on the EVO has a better email client than the stock GB mail client (which bites)? I use SkyRaider 4 with Sense 2 on the Froyo platform, but MIUI on the GB platform with LauncherPro to make it as Sense-like as possible. Since the GB mail client neglected the 'Search' functionality, I had to buy the Enhanced Mail client (I'm and Exchange user), but there is no scrolling widget for this. A Sense-based GB rom with a Sense-based mail client would solve all my problems. Bottom line, has anyone seen the Sense Mail client on the new GB-based EVO?
get yourself some miui gingerbread! best thing ive run across. put it on the new tiamat sbc kernel and youll have a fast ass phone thatll last all day

Just revisited the list of DINC roms on XDA
Just went back to the updated list of roms for the DINC
(http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=638)
There are a number of GB Sense roms listed that I'm kicking myself for missing. I'll start trying these out and report back. One question about these roms:
Q - Assuming that all these new roms come with their own Kernel, are there any recommended GB with Sense 2/3 kernels for OC, battery life and undervoltage?
Please report any feedback on the new GB Sense ROMs
We have one report back on the Uber Kingdom (rough around the edges), so does anyone else have any 100% stable everything working correctly GB Sense 1/2/3 roms working on the DINC?

Since they won't let me post on the XDA-Dev forums yet (not sure why not because I have 10 posts now), I'm posting here to see if anyone knows when the Weather app is going to be fixed. The Weather app works fine, except that every day is listed as Sunday. This Kingdom Stock GingerSense is running very well with no problems yet. The Sense 3 UI is very smooth and fast.
I am going to give Nils Business Gingersense a try now to see if there are any cool Rosie mods. I like having a few more than a 3 button dock that comes with the Sense UI.

I don't mean this to be a threadjack, but I wanted to go into details about my experience with Uber Kingdom.
I tried PMing Joel, but I can't post yet in the dev forum either. (what a lame new user restriction) My biggest issue with Uber Kingdom is the HTC mail widget. The font on the widget is not visible. When you click on a row, you go to a specific mail and inside the app, it reads fine, but the widget itself doesn't display text, which is quite annoying.
Otherwise, as I said earlier, I'm quite happy with the performance, the interface, etc.
Another few things I'd ideally like to tweak is the stupid theme button on the bottom launcher to be a different button. Once you set up your theme it isn't something you change often enough to need it to be so prominent. (also long clicking on the desktop accomplished the same thing, so it really isn't necessary at all) Normally on the roms I've used, rosie settings, or flashable zips let me set it to settings. I'd like to find a way to do that.
I also like seeing numbers on my battery indicator, which Uber kingdom doesn't.
I would also prefer not showing a statusbar indication that GPS ISN'T enabled. It not being there is enough for me.
Otherwise, seems stable for the passed few days, all the apps I've tried are working. Text Messsages failed to restore from titanium from 2 to 4... but I'm not sure why. They restored from WarmZ to Uber Kingdom 2.

the only thing im not a hundred percent on is the battery life. i have a monster 3300 mAh battery that usually last 5 days. but after changing from V2.7 to V2.8 it went through 50% in a day. im going to test it out over the next couple of days.

making sure you did a full data/cache/dalvik/battery stat wipe before you install.

You would be surprised what you acctually need to make android run. If you dont replace those parts it wont function.
there is a lot of ways and blogs that people say will help you set up your hero.
But....
to be honest the best way ive found is
1) find a custom rom you like.
2) wipe everything on your hero (not the SD card.) and doing a full install.
3) add your desired apps and widgets
4) then make a nandroid backup
now if you mess around with setting or uninstall apps or firmware
you will always have a solid backup to go back to and try again.
its the best way to learn how your hero works.
good luck.
i always go back to sense even though you lose speed, using tegro slide at the moment and its almost perfect
ive tried tegro in the past
i do like it but it reminds me to much of froyo and i had a bad experience with froyo.
(shivers as cold feeling goes down spin)
but on the up side elelinux has just released V2.9
the update list looks impressive.
BUT......
the big question is whats he got up his sleeve for V3.0
AND will it be the final one.

A suggest about ROM but...

Hello everyone, I'm new in this forum. Actually I use a RCMIX 3D (sense 3.5) ROM which is quite satisfactory in terms of battery consumption.
However, considering the fact that I do not go behind the latest developments in graphics, velocity etc, I looking for a new ROM that, of all, offers exceptional durability of the battery during daily use (data, internet, push email, sync a few). I do not know about what really orient me ... I accept all the advice possible, regardless of whether it is "sense" or not. Thanks
i personally Think the rcmix sense 3.5 rom is one of the best out there right now..if you are not satisfied try android revolution, thats sense 3.0 though

I've read about HydrOG3n...
my dhd lasted about 2.5 Days on last charge, and that is pretty Amazing in my mind (with rcmix runny rom) but android revolution is a Little bit better on that Point i think..no superultrabig difference, but you should get a coupple of hours extra i think.
btw: i am coming from revolution to rcmix and the thing that made me stay on this one is the sense 3.5 (ofcourse) and the awesome rcmix setting menu that lets you change pretty much whatever you like, a bit like wannabe cyanogenmod =) really cool i think
imo, LM kernel roms (CM7 and miui based ones such as hydrogen) have excellent battery life. Stock CM7 also has OK battery life.
Radios should also affect the battery life

cubases. Here are some screenshots of a few ROMs to help you see some visual differences.
And here is the up-to-date list of Desire HD ROMs here at XDA. That way you can click on each one to visit the thread and see any specs or info for yourself.
Personally - I use MIUI Freshly Squeezed at the moment as I really love the complete UI change. (Having said that I don't like the latest theme so much with the latest release but I change it back to the original or different theme at the touch of a button.) MIUI feels like a completely different device. That said - I try many ROMs and enjoy most of them unless I'm put off by the visuals/colors etc.

I think you go to wrong direction. I don't think there's a significant difference between the ROMs according to power consumption. Now I am not with CoreDroid 8.1 . I think it's with 2.3.4 kernel (don't think, that if was with 2.3.5 it will be 100% better) .
With full use every ROM will give you max 1 day. With a moderate use - 2 days with no problems with CoreDroid/RCMix/ARHD roms. The main consumption is from the lcd (ROM independant).
Some advices - switch off every antenna you don't use - BT/Wi-Fi/mobile network/3G . Especially switch off mobile network and set everything to manual update. 3G network also consumes a lot of energy. For calls 2G is fair enough.
Well if you need network access any time a day and automatic update - nothing you can do. You will charge the phone every day.
And other advice - charge the phone with USB cable (on a PC) at any time. Don't wait the battery to fall. Just watch to keep the memory in 20-80% (bellow 20 and above 80 it will use more battery recharge cycles).

Could you suggest me any apps that, automatically, switch on-off beetwen 2g and 3g?
ArHD....but to be fair anything we say is irrelevant, ive flashed numerous Roms including runny, but kept going back to ArHD.
Try them all,
Sense 3.5 I'm not a fan of,but as I said we like what we like.

I've flashed loads of Roms and I think miui has by far the best battery life. I use my phone ALOT and I'm getting through a whole day with one charge.
With most sense Rom's I was only getting through work. 7am - 5pm. I've read a few times miui freshly squeeze is better but haven't tried it yet. I'm happy with what I've got at the moment.

It's my standard also!!!
But the thing that annoys me is to use the phone very much limiting the use of fear of not getting even a night!
What are the pros and cons of MIUI?

I'm using juicedefender ultimate with aosp support, you can configure a lot of option of the network usage!
On MIUI rom, I've used it a lot, great rom, nice UI(iPhone app management style with Samsung style screen customization) , a lot of customizable setting, nice theme and useful features and good battery life, I always suggest to try it!
Now I'm testing DeSenseNG based on official sense 3 for DHD (love htc app) and I think is very good room, smooth and with a little UV a really good battery!
Sorry for bad english :-(

Looks or performance

Dear XDA developers, modders and users i am curious to know do you like more performance and stability of android 2.3 and older or looks and apps of android 4.0 and newer.
I prefer GB roms because for everyday use ICS/GB roms destroy my already weak battery, are slow and unstable imo , also when i download a rom i remove stuff i dont need and add stuff i do.
I edit roms but never publish them as my original work
Check how fast is it these two roms with 50+ user apps. Htc wildfire still good to go.
Check out my htc vdo shots below:
miniCM7 rom
CM7 Nightly Rom
I also froze a few system apps, what do u add and remove, can you plz make a vdo sneak peak.
My vote is for Performance.
Thanks

Well i havent got time for making videos now ,but if you are interested in my roms then i do the following:
* depending on the rom size and features
- gallery
- fm radio
- latinIME
- tts and picotts
- some fonts
- alarms, notifications and ringtones
- gapps if available
- cwm ( i used revolutionary so cwm is not necessary
- cmwallpapers
- bootanimation.zip
+ file manager
+ quickpic
+ keyboard ( using hackers keyboard in this moment )
+ beats sometimes
+ custom ringtones and notifications
+ sometimes i edit the framework-res
conclusion - nothing complicated but by removing apps, fonts , boot animation i shave off +- 20mb of rom size and speed up boot to around 35-40 seconds
and in my barebones rom (cm7 based) i have removed all apps that are safe to remove except :
-music
-camera
-mms
-[App that ive possibly forgot to mention]
and in total my barebones rom has 50mb which i use when i fck up something ( my ubuntu didnt recognize android 4.0 as a usb drive so i couldnt change the rom ; when stuck in bootloop ) because it installs faster and its a good alternative as a rom to give to my younger sister
Because its faster i also change the default wallpaper in roms that i download
Curently i use TouchWiz with sympfinity kernel V4.5 its fast and battery efficient ( and FABULOUS )
P.S. yes wildfire is still good to go but development in xda is ceasing and it has no gpu. Technology is becoming better every day so i will update in the near future but wildfire is a legend and should not be forgotten
Well we still got some people doing good work, have you tried the AOKP light continued by wasimk32 ? I run it smooth and fine with smartass and preety much 5 hungry apps installed other than gapps; I'm only using it for about 5 days now but i did not feel the need to run supercharger, wich is more than i can say for latest gingerbread stock cm considering aokp is ics based.
Also if you want looks+even better performance you can give JellyBread a try made by wasimk32 aswell, i installed it and when i saw my willy fly troughout the apps and menus like a galaxy S2 i almost teared up a bit xD.
Bottom line: I think we can get probably another decent year where we can say willy kept up before we start using it for only its phone-text functions .

ok will try it out, thanks
this poll is no longer a poll its a discussion thread
When I still had my wildfire it was always performance for me. Cm7 was a godsend over that bloody stock Rom. But when it all came down to it as long as I had a fully working flashplayer I was happy
