Hi guys,
I used several roms lately Juwe and jingereal JVQ.
In all roms I used the phone dialer application self exit to launcher when I push 4 or 5 numbers.
Anyone experience such weird behavior?
Any help?
Thank you
Andrea
i've had a similar issue with the keypad as well and a few times when I have opened clicked the call log tab; both would just close and bring me back to desktop/homescreen...not sure why either. I've also had a few dropped calls (tried both KC1 and KG3 modems)
edit: other than root, I'm on stock JVQ with KC1/KG3 modem
i'm beginning to wonder if this has to do with the launcher i'm using as I've only recently started to use GoLauncher (used to use LauncherPro)
update: nope...doesn't seem to have to do with the launcher
This is happening to me now on JVS (found this with search). Phone just closes, no force close dialog it just kicks back to home screen.
I think I solved it!
Used Titanium Backup (f*** is there anything that program can't do? cleaning dalvik cache with it also fixes android OS drain!) to wipe data from Phone app (after backing it up first just in case).
Tested it out about 10 times opening it, switching tabs, dialing numbers..before it would've quit 8 of 10 times but now not a problem.

cleaning dalvik eh?...i'll try that later.
Yes I forgot who put me on to that but it has worked all 3 times that I have tried it after a flash to kill android os drain, twice on 2.3.3 and lastly on 2.3.5. Do it and then restart.

I must give u a big Thanks!
This is a very annoying problem and it seems to be quite random that I originally did not think that I can find the solution when I searched this issue in google.
Thank you and this solved my issue!
*EDIT*
I just found that I have this issue in my Whatsapp as well. When I browse the contact list in Whatsapp, when i scroll down the list to about 1/3 what's app will close automatically...... Should I erase the data of Whatsapp as well?

Yep tap on Phone in the app list in Titanium and hit 'wipe data'.
For me, the problem disappears if I simply reboot phone.

This morning, I decided to look at the 'My Apps' list through Android Market to see if I had anything to update. Typically there are about 20 apps to look at. Now there are only 3. I am running a stock Epic. I powered cycled the phone thinking it might have been a glitch. Same problem still occurring. Has anyone had this happen to them?

Indeed it did, and the issue lasted for a long time and I have no idea why. But I *may* have done a few things which helped fix it and perhaps Google was also at fault on their end, because the issue resolved and never came back (yet). Here's what helped:
-in the Market, download a program which clears your cache. 2 I use are Apps2SD and AntTek App Manager (requires root). The AntTek one is used less often because it clears more caches at a deeper level, but you may want to try it. First:
-go to phone settings/applications/manage applications. Find the Market app and clear both cache and data. You will receive a warning, but don't worry, all you'll need to do is accept Market terms and conditions again when launching. But don't launch Market yet.
-now, clear cache using the apps I suggested or maybe one or more of your own choice.
-launch Market again, accept T+C and now you hopefully will have all your apps back. The problem may reoccur but somehow I doubt your phone is at fault if it does. Eventually a combination of what you do and whatever the big G does may solve it like I think it did with me. Good luck.
Thanks!

Also should have said that your suggestion about app2sd worked.

Glad it helped. It would be nice if it was only a one-time event for you, unlike it was for me (about a dozen). Maybe (haha) this upcoming new version of the Market will be more *reliable* too.
That has happened a few times to me. I usually have to remove the battery to get them to show up again

I've also found that if you search for them and select or update them, usually they repopulate. It happens a lot to me when I flash the rom when restoring a nandroid backup.

and you'll need to "Force Stop" if it's running
Removing SD card will restore the apps installed on the phone.
I've been using Mint Jelly for a few months now. But lately I've been having a slight delay in my home button.
Whenever I hit home from any app, my screen will show the wallpaper and then after a second, load the home apps. This also happens when I'm simply backing out of an app, so it's not limited to home button only.
I disabled s voice but that didn't solve it. Any one else had this happen?

Just give her the ol' cache and dalvik cache wipe in recovery and reboot. See if that simple drill fixes your issue. Cheers

Welp, sorry for the late reply. Thank you, and I just wiped it. I am waiting for it to finish "upgrading" now and test it out. I don't think it was the rom, but some things started messing up for me.
for example, Quick Pic stopped responding and had to be uninstalled and reinstalled. It never was a problem app for me and shouldn't have froze my phone the way it did.
Any recommended, non CM roms around lately? So many to choose from and I like to just stick to one at a time.
Edit: well, looks like that did the trick. Thank you!
I have a stock S5 that I just bought. After a couple days I started noticing an extremely long delay when doing anything with text messages. I hit send and it just sits there. I can't hit back or anything. The home button will take me home. When sending I don't even see my message until everything returns. Anyone have any idea what may be causing this? TIA
Try clear data/cache and force stop for the app?

Thanks for the reply. I gave that a try with no luck. I cleared cache but afraid to clear data because it says it will permanently delete everything.

Clear data will clear all your messages and makes the app like its still new. Probably a corrupted message file or anything can affect its performance.

So it will delete my messages?
This seems to be a well known issue with the S5 although the suggestions don't seem to fix my problem. The solutions also say to clear cache and data on the Samsung keyboard.
Maybe power-saving mode? It kinda lags the mobile. Reduces performance of some stuff to lag to save some battery. Not sure tho

You can back up text messages, i would try that and clear data, see how it goes, if it does nothing then just restore the back up.

Power saving mode is off. I thought this was related to using the Samsung Smart Switch app to recover everything from my iPhone. So I deleted everything, cleared the cache and data from the message app and the Samsung keyboard app. No luck with that either. However, I did discover the AT&T app for messaging that came pre-loaded on the phone and remembered another article that suggested trying another default messaging app. So I did and that seems to work much better. I know it's not a fix, but at least it's a workaround I can live with. I actually like this app because I have text, call history, and my visual voicemail all in one app.
There are plenty of complaints around the internet about this "bug" so maybe it will be something that gets addressed in Lollipop next month.
Mine lags because of the amount of messages I have stored. Will try to clear cache, but I don't think it works
Well if you looking for a messaging app, google's messenger app is pretty good too!
Hey people of XDA,
Since yesterday i suddenly have a huge! font in my phone app but only on the contacts Tab, nowhere else....
Does someone faced a similar issue and has an idea on how to change back to normal without factory reset?
Already tried to force stop and clear caches of contacts, contacts storage, and all 3 phone apps under Settings>>apps but that did not help.
Thx in advance and have a better day than me
Same here, try to use volume key and even clear data and cache but doesn't work for me

Yeah didn't work for me either. Decided to do a factory reset now
Uninstalling substratum overlays fixed it for me
Do a factory reset (I know, it will erase your data) and see if the issue will persist.

Every time I click on the comment button of a post the Facebook app crashes. Anyone else with the same issue?
With as crappy as the coding on Facebooks app is who knows. I have not seen this and I am on 9
Hmm, discouraging. I've cleared cache, deleted data, uninstalled and installed the app to no avail.
I am on totally stock unrooted 9
I am having similar lockups on multiple apps. Stock-unrooted aug 6 build of P and I tried a full device reset.
Not seeing any app issues same release of P ...hmm have you done a cache clear on the device? Meaning the os not indevidual apps.

I get exactly the same thing on my stock Pixel 2 XL since upgrading to Pie. However, it works fine on a Pixel 1.
I've tried uninstalling FB and re-installing and no joy.
The Facebook Lite app works ok, but that's garbage and doesn't have all the functionality I need.

Being out of the scene for a while, how do you delete the dalvic cache... ie how do you put the PH-1 in recovery, and do you have the delete cache in stock recovery?
Edit : I did put the phone in recovery mode but, as I expected, the stock recovery image does not have the delete cache option like a custom recovery. Hmm surprised to read that not even a factory reset solved the issue.
I've never used the FB app. Who knows what it is doing when you aren't using it, even if it is closed/stopped.
Better way...open your browser, instead of going to www.facebook.com, go to www.m.facebook.com which
loads the mobile version, and in your browser settings, you can always use the desktop version if needed.

No problem here, all good.
And just like that, it fixed by itself. I did not update the App, nor anything else....... mistery of technology!

More likely an issue with your Facebook account. Facebook has AI doing code corrections all the time in the background. They also sometimes fubar stuff and then correct it a couple of days later. This has happened to my account more than once.
Mystery of Technology... LOL, no, more like Bugs of Technology, and Pie just came out, so expect plenty of them until it matures a bit...
