Hello,
i have had this flipside now for about a month. About 3 weeks ago I installed the 2.2 upgrade. It still works fine but I don't have but 39M of internal memory left and I only have about 6 apps installed. I have moved everything that I can to the SD card.
How can I remove the AT&T bloatware and free up some memory. I keep reading about rooting and such but don't know much about it.
For the most part... removing bloatware only frees up your system partition... and some small dex files...

How many Meg is that? Anything would help
Not enough mb to make a difference. You need to root before you can even do that tho. Search around on rooting, then download link2sd and you'll have plenty of mem. Im running with 80 mb free with every one if my 69 apps linked

ok 76mb after reboot. Relink lib files after reboot, back to 80. However, I dont need to reboot often as the damn pos freezes about 10 times a day. Since its not a complete reboot, I dont have to relink when I pull the battery and restart. Im moving on up away from flipside very soon, so freezing will be a thing of the past and mem issues too. yay!
I solved MOST of my freezing issue when I flashed the sbf... however.... I still get freezes when I try to do too many things at once...

I got a possible solution for ya...
Try downloading ROM Toolbox from the market and wiping dalvik-cache with it...
It'll make for a long reboot... but it might stop your freezes

I am running cm6 with the data and cache mod. I don't need apps2sd anymore but I was curious as to how to get move to SD working in Froyo?
I have 40+ apps installed and few work when moved to SD. Once rebooted most of my shortcuts are gone and programs aren't in the app drawer.
What to do?
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
Without the Apps2SD hack only some apps can be moved to SD and those are whichever apps are created with that ability. There is an app called "app2sd" (go figure) that will show you exactly which can be moved so you don't have to waste your time looking 1 by 1
That app wont install successfully.

I'm not interested in doing this anymore. I flashed the custom mtd partition files and now have 349mb of space for apps on internal storage. I currently have 220mb free with over 50 apps installed.

Batterylife and Pure Grid Calender do not play well with Froyo App2sd, I have tried to have them on sd and internal memory, both bug out on reboot and require reinstall.

What mtd partitions did you set up?
In terminal type
su
df -h
That will show your partition settings and you'll see what you system is taking up. Redo the mtd text to a few mb's over your system's.
If you still aren't sure check the thread on the mtd mod for more info.

Ok so recently I odined back to el30 (as I do at least once a week) and now I can not flash any mtd roms... I have tried redownloading and reflashing the recovery and rom(s) multiple times... cm9 as an example, I flash and it reboots to do the mtd conversion, goes back into cwm and boots... it gets to the boot animation (on aosp roms, tw mtd reboots right after the kernel splash screen) goes through it (sometimes makes it through) and then reboots... after flashing and it won't boot I have to pull battery and that's when the next problem begins... phone will not power on, charge, go into cwm... nothing.... I can get to download by using the slide battery in and out trick... its not the battery, after an odin it charges and boots perfectly (until I try to flash another mtd rom)... not bad downloads... I always check md5 before flashing... anybody have any insight as to what may be going on...
Edit- if you're not going to post something useful to try and help, don't post at all... so don't post stupid things like ... shouldn't be odining once a week". Comments like that don't help and are way off base... I know people that odin 2 times as much as me and have been flashing twice as long so please keep the dimwitted comments to yourself!

Maybe its possible your nand storage is going out? It can only handle so much read/write :-\

I guess that is possible... but I only started flashing roms and such when I signed up for xda... so november I believe... I know some people that have flashed way more than me... wouldn't that result in bml roms not flashing also?

Don't know. Throwing ideas out that are possible. I've seen people where their phone wouldn't run anything than straight up stock :-\

I know that's true.... but can it just start being picky out of nowhere... I have ran cm9, miui4, well let's just say every mtd rom this phone has available... odined last week and now no mtd roms will boot... about to odin an e4gt rom and brick my phone and tell sprint it happened when it was updating to whatever the newest stock rom is... I'M AT A LOSS!

You tried Odin with repartition, the odin cwm 5.027 with reboot unchecked, pop battery out and in and then flashing CleanGB MTD?
You also said after trying the TW install it bricks requiring battery cpr. You could bring it right to Sprint at that point since nothing works then. Unless it only takes 1 in and out to get it into download mode.|

Its usually only one in and out... and yes I have tried odin multiple times and then tried EVERY MTD rom... I did get clean gb to boot once after this started happening... and then later that day shut my phone off and it wouldn't turn back on... now not even clean gb will make it past the splash screen... usually just rebooting the splash screen over and over... sometimes making it to the boot ani and then shutting completely down with the only way to fix being odin with the battery "cpr"... this phone is going through a wall super soon! I would ask if any devs would want it when I upgrade (probably next week) but I don't know how useful it will be without working mtd partition...

Yeah used to odin regularly to keep it clean, usually fixes more than destroys. I don't see why mtd won't boot for you. You might have a bad partition table. Your phone must not like mtd. I knew somebody with the same problem, they ended up taking it into sprint and they gave him a new phone.

Did you use the victory_8G_100528.pit file and check repartition? It seems like it isn't properly restoring your boot partition when you odin, if you didn't use a .pit file that could be why. There was also a totally bulletproof upgrade program that samsung posted on it's website a quite a while ago to upgrade to Froyo, it should still be floating around xda somewhere. If nothing else works try that.

I have need for speed installed and that's about it! I've 12 gb left and I was trying to install a apk for amazon market. I thought it was the apk that was faulty, so I downloaded a random app on the internet and it says that I need to delete stuff..
They don't install into your sd card, they install on your internal memory that's only about 5GB. Go to application settings and see if you can movie them to SD card.

dunno if they've changed it but normally theres a 2gb partition for apps and 12gb for storage. check if your 2gb partition is full. google recently changed things so that there is no longer a file size limit on what can be installed into the 2gb partition. so if one of the apps you've installed is particularly naughty, it couldve dumped a lot of data into the 2gb partition.
normally i find that shutting down and booting devices up again fixes the issue.
