I am running cm6 with the data and cache mod. I don't need apps2sd anymore but I was curious as to how to get move to SD working in Froyo?
I have 40+ apps installed and few work when moved to SD. Once rebooted most of my shortcuts are gone and programs aren't in the app drawer.
What to do?
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
Without the Apps2SD hack only some apps can be moved to SD and those are whichever apps are created with that ability. There is an app called "app2sd" (go figure) that will show you exactly which can be moved so you don't have to waste your time looking 1 by 1
That app wont install successfully.

I'm not interested in doing this anymore. I flashed the custom mtd partition files and now have 349mb of space for apps on internal storage. I currently have 220mb free with over 50 apps installed.

Batterylife and Pure Grid Calender do not play well with Froyo App2sd, I have tried to have them on sd and internal memory, both bug out on reboot and require reinstall.

What mtd partitions did you set up?
In terminal type
su
df -h
That will show your partition settings and you'll see what you system is taking up. Redo the mtd text to a few mb's over your system's.
If you still aren't sure check the thread on the mtd mod for more info.

I believe the only option is to free up space. Sine you are on Froyo you could move as many apps as you can to SD to free up your system space.
Does anyone have the .zip file for uncapped data for liberty 1.5? Or would the one for 1.0 work?

Yes, when you go into recovery mount system (it will say unmount when it's mounted, you probably already knew that) and then install from zip card and you should be set.
Will this work on GummyJAR 2.5 or will it bring forth the end of my phone? jk about the end of the world but in all serious-ness will it?
Is there any draw backs to this or does it take away any other functions?

Well, I just installed it, and my phone hasn't caught on fire yet... Speedtest is a little better than my normal speeds sitting at my desk, but nothing amazing. But my speeds here at work fluctuate SO wildly anyways, it's just weird.
This mainly just keeps your phone from being throttled at peek hours or after you have reached 5gigs

I use this method. Partition your sd card through recovery (backup everything on it first) convert to ext3 and install this app.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.buak.Link2SD&feature=search_result
just like darktremor but easier and can be used on any and every rom

I have need for speed installed and that's about it! I've 12 gb left and I was trying to install a apk for amazon market. I thought it was the apk that was faulty, so I downloaded a random app on the internet and it says that I need to delete stuff..
They don't install into your sd card, they install on your internal memory that's only about 5GB. Go to application settings and see if you can movie them to SD card.

dunno if they've changed it but normally theres a 2gb partition for apps and 12gb for storage. check if your 2gb partition is full. google recently changed things so that there is no longer a file size limit on what can be installed into the 2gb partition. so if one of the apps you've installed is particularly naughty, it couldve dumped a lot of data into the 2gb partition.
normally i find that shutting down and booting devices up again fixes the issue.

u guys using ics roms and need some extra space for system apps?
Requirements: must have flashed Neo L ftf or GB ftf modded by cosmicdan for miui Australia. This is to enable vendor partition.
Go to system/vendor and add app folder (if not already there) u can add any app that u want (system, user, even lwp). This partition has about 130mb of unused memory.
I tried this on stock 4.0.3, 4.0.4 and 2.3.4 Dont know about cyanogen.
so here is how/where the apps go.
quoting cosmicdan
Vendor/appslog is it's own partition but it's gets mounted to the system/vendor folder. Stock R800 has partition order (1) system, (2) userdata, (3) unused (including vendor/appslog) (4) cache:

It still uses the same exact space. All it does is "trick" the phone into thinking there is more memory when in actuality there isn't. Take it from a developer that has been doing this since android came out, THIS ISN'T REAL.
Cool.
Im no dev, so I cant argue, but it allows me to install more system apps. Wallpapers and ringtones.
I have 96 mb free In system vendor. And 65 mb free in system.
Currently using customized xdark v2 Rom. Added some Xperia gx apps, live and regular wallpapers, ringtones, forget what else.
The stock neo L 4.0.4 fw uses this folder for many system apps. If Sony uses it why not us?

Trick or not it works. When u move apps there, it frees up space in system storage, so you can throw more things in there. Dont believe me? Try it.

Maybe I see your point now. No it does not give you extra space like your mod with ftf. It is just a folder that does not get used by custom roms (zip flashing does not add anything there. Therefore, face unlock issues by many users. And cwm recovery does not back it ip either probably because it is not in the system partition?)
But the folder is there mostly empty.

use root explorer of your choice. navigate to system/vendor and add folder named app. it should look like system/vendor/app. set permission 755. rwxr-xr-x and you are done. add apps manually and set permission 644 rw-r--r--
Edit: interesting, I did not imagine that Verizon users would get a different partition layout, thanks for the info!

Hmm, I notice that my system/app folder and my data/app folder on the phone have two different amounts of memory that are used and free. Therefore, two separate partitions? Forcing apps into system apps would free up space on the other partition...That's what this is all based on, right?

right, vendor is a third partition that gets mounted onto system. therefore, adding stuff there frees up memory from the other two. system and data.

I just flash that Rom last night and I had like 14kb free in system. (the fix 1 he has wasnt flashing cause of full memory) After moving stuff I have now 50mb and added more stuff like gtalk, walkman by thilina c, Xperia s v2 apps thats flying around in neo thread, mmmm forgot what else.
What root explorer r u using? For me the best is rom toolbox cause it shows u the available space. For each partition.
