you can use different csc ,I did read it somewhere that we can mix different PDA/CSC/MODEM but i would not recommend doing that,
If you want to 'experiment' try Multi CSC mod by Redmanner he is genius!

does it have features like the chinese firmware
anybody tried it?
what are the difference in this rom from KPH and KPN?
So this is different from the one on samfirmware? Coz I used that one-package file over Froyo DDKC1, and it still upgraded me fine.

Yup i've tried it. It's good. Using since the past 24 hrs. No bugs found yet.
The only new things i noticed is:
1. The soft key lights up even if u touch the screen(earlier it would light up only on touching soft key)
2. New keyboard added(Now total of 3 keyboards available)
Can't say much on speed and stability improvement...
Can we add CF Root to it? anybody having idea if it is working?
BTW Thanks for the ROM bro.

Its made for India that's the only difference!
for eg. this ROM supports Indian languages like Tamil, Malayalam so that you can browse regional language sites and receive sms in regional languages,
Also it has a big list APN's for India ,(APN's are access point used to connect to the internet) other than that there is no difference at all
When I add the md5 files in Odin 4.38, I get the message "Invalid Model Binary". Should I continue? What should I do?

that's normal continue,
the main thing is: It should pass 'md5sum check'
it should look similar to this
Code:
Check MD5 FileName...
MD5 File Name : boot.tar
Open File Name : boot.tar
Check MD5 ...
Tail MD5 : 3961359F237452845C013B5A0D8692A4
Image MD5 : 3961359F237452845C013B5A0D8692A4
Check MD5 ... ok
if you see this, then its completely safe to continue.
OK. Did everything. Followed the steps here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034145. Now my phone is stuck. The Samsung logo keeps on coming when I switch it on! :/

Did you guys read the precautions before flashing?
THE REAL FIX FOR THE BOOTLOOP:
reboot into RECOVERY > (not download)
wipe cache and data! (or factory reset)...
DONE!
reboot into the rom that you were trying to use!
takes 20 seconds and no reflashing anything.
do i need to root my phone to download this update?
will it void my warranty?

Method to upgrade through Speedmod (By addicted2088):
Hello guys. This is an alternate, much shorter method for installing Darky's ROM, for those who are on stock 2.2/2.2.1 firmware (any region except USA).
Before you start thinking this won't work, don't worry, Darkyy approves of this guide
IMPORTANT!! Read each and every step carefully, don't skip any. If you are drunk, go sleep and come back when you are sober!
Installing Darky's ROM wipes all your data, so you should back it up if you want to save it. Backup instructions are given in the "Instructions" section below.
Important Points before starting (Read all):
1. Only for those having an International Galaxy S GT-I9000 and the GT-I9000M. Do not flash on others, for example the i897, the I9000T, etc.
2. Check your firmware version in Settings->About->Firmware version (see if it is 2.1, 2.2 or 2.2.1). You need to be on 2.2/2.2.1.
3. Before starting, be sure to download the Extreme Edition ROM zip file and place it on your internal sdcard. Download the Darky's ROM Extreme Edition 9.2 zip file from the following link and copy it to your internal sdcard:
http://www.multiupload.com/8Z04J6BBB2/QDTFFQP9IU
4. Also, before starting, download the 'DarkyROM Configurator' app from the Market, and customize what you want to install/don't want to install. (e.g: Samsung Apps, Live Wallpapers, Fonts). Download and install the App, and see the options first, before asking what the App does.
NOTE: The Wipe option in the Configurator will be disabled, as the ROM always wipes when you install it on a stock ROM. In general, just select your options in the Configurator, then press Menu (Left touch key) and select 'Save and Exit'.
Instructions:
1. Download Speedmod kernel from here:
http://www.multiupload.com/11FFOMH7YN
2. Flash this kernel using the procedure described on the link below then go to next step. Read every step carefully on the guide on the link below!
http://touristinparadise.blogspot.com/2010/11/samsung-galaxy-s-how-to-install.html
3. After completing the above steps, wait for your phone to boot completely, then go to the next step.
4. This step is optional. If you want to backup your data, use an app like MyBackup Root/Titanium Root to back it up. These two apps need root access, and therefore when you run them, you'll get a screen saying "Superuser Request" and giving you two options: "Allow" and "Deny". Press the "Allow" button, and then backup your data. If you do not get this prompt, it means Root is not enabled on your phone, so do the following to root it. Boot into recovery (Vol UP + HOME + POWER), then do the following:
Go to Advanced Speedmod ULK Features>Root/Install Superuser, then select Simple: install busybox+su, then select Yes. Go Back and Reboot and it's done.
5. Now, copy the downloaded Darky's ROM to your internal sd card if you haven’t already done so. Don't rename it, leave it as it is.
6. Now turn off your phone, and wait for it to shutdown completely. Then, boot into Recovery Mode. Press and hold Volume-UP + Home + Power at the same time, and let go of the buttons when the screen turns on (and says Galaxy S GT-I9000/I9000M Samsung), to enter Recovery.
7. Then using the volume keys to navigate and the Power button to select, do the following:
Select 'wipe data/factory reset', and then select 'Yes'. Important!
Select ‘Install zip from sdcard’.
Then select ‘choose zip from sdcard’.
Now navigate to the ROM zip, then select it.
Then choose ‘Yes’.
8. The ROM will now be installed. After it says install complete, select ‘Go Back’ twice, then select 'Reboot System now'.
There you go, Darky's ROM is now installed!
Credits: hardcore for the speedmod kernel and the speedmod flashing guide, Darkyy for his as always great ROM.
Big thanks to Khoral for driving me to write this guide..
Don't forget to hit the Thanks button if this guide is helpful.

Sorry for double post, read below.
Nice guide so far but I can't download Speedmod Kernel, it says there's been too many downloads and that I should try later. Is there any other download link?
Also, since we download Darky's config app is it not easier to install from the app?

No difference in 2.2/2.2.1. Only difference is between 2.1 and 2.2/2.2.1..
There is no difference. So it's only a speech to install the ROM compatibility Darky's. So the firmware version 2.2/2.2.1 not affect the performance of the ROM. The firmware does not center anything after installing the ROM? TNK

I'm not sure about that. However, if you select the 'No Modem' option in the 'Darky ROM Configurator' before installing the ROM, your baseband version will not be changed..

Unless your phone has got a lock of any kind (SIM Lock or something), you can install the ROM the usual way. And it should be an I9000.
You should ask around at the normal 'Darky's ROM thread' at:

Sorry, I have no idea about the provider phones, so can't help
Thank you for this awesome ROM Darky!
I have a question though, in the event that Samsung does release a 2.3 official update and I want to reflash using ODIN
..is there any modification I need to do before reflashing?
Or can I do a straight reflash?

Hi
I want to install your 9.2 ROM using the above guide, however I have a question.
Do I need to have CWM installed to use the "DarkyROM Configurator"?
I am using Samsung Galaxy S I9000
Foryo2.2 updated through Kies
I have not rooted my phone, it is in stock.
Please advice.
If we need to have CWM, kindly add the steps in the above guide. I want to follow the steps exactly.

No, you don't need it. Anything that is required is mentioned in the guide.
The DarkyROM Configurator works like this: If you select the Wipe option in the app, it just creates a blank file/folder named Wipe in folder named darky in the sdcard, so that when you are installing the ROM, the ROM reads that file and understands that you want to wipe. Similarly, if you select Nexus S boot animation in the app, it creates a blank file/folder named nexus-s in that folder, so that the ROM reads that during install..
Hope you understood..
Hi all,
I've just got my new i5800L, and I've already rooted it with z4root. Here are my qs:
What's all that of XXJPM and all that stuff? Which one should I use for mine? (actual one is I5800LVIJG7 (Eclair)).
Is there any way of doing a nandroid (full copy of the actual rom which can be flashed easily) so if I mess things up or want to get back to Eclair I'd just have to flash it back?
I guess that's all by now. Thank's in advance.
JPM is the latest froyo rom...you cant backup ur whole rom as if nw we dont have any alternative for this...check flashing guide in sticky and see vdos on youtube. ...happy flashing...

Thanks, now it's booting (on the samsung screen). I think it worked. But now it's "orangeized" XD. I'll keep looking for the right tar XD
PD: is it ok if it takes a while on the "samsung" (the one with the glow, after the GT-I5800l screen) screen? cause it's past a few minutes and still on that screen and I'm starting to panic XD
EDIT: It's been more that 15 minutes since it's stuck at that screen. What should I do? Please, second day with it and already screw it XD
Flash the JPM firmware...you shud get it as a tar package...a single file...
but sometimes u will have 4 files
1. bootloader
2. pda
3. csc
4. phone
dont ever flash the bootloader file in odin with pda csc n phone tar files...because the risk of bricking goes high...
just flash the 3 remainin files...n when ur fone has booted...just do a hard reset

Great, now it works again! Thank you a lot. And now I finally understand how odin works :-D
which custom rom do you guys recomend?
Don't forget the i5800L is different from the i5800, but the only difference is the 3G antenna frequency. If you install JPM you MIGHT have 3G connection problems, or then again you might not. You MOST LIKELY will see a battery life decrease because of this issue. If you want really badly to have Froyo (android 2.2) you can flash a JPM ROM. If you want your battery to last a couple of days, either wait for an american release of froyo, or keep your Eclair version.
I have a i5800L from VIVO, originally with JG7 as well. When I installed JPF (previous froyo release) I had issues with the 3G network, when I flashed Kyrillos custom JPM ROM i also had problems. When I flashed Lestatious custom JPF ROM I didn't have problems, and when I flashed clean JPM i didn't have problems either.
So really, its a question of luck.. although let me tell you, my battery lasted way way longer on the original JG7 firmware than any other release (including the JK1 Eclair, said to be the best Eclair released before froyo).
Remember though, if flashing separately (not as one package), avoid flashing the BOOT file or BOOTLOADER. Flashing this increases the chance of bricking your phone. Not flashing it decreases the change by 1000000000000 times.

Yeah, I can see that. I'm with Kryllos v3.3 and the battery only lasts like about 16 hours :S. I guess I'll go back to I5800LVIJG7 (The one which it came with).

About that, if I flash the bootloader (with all the others too, of course), and it upgrades ok, then there's no problem, right? I mean, if I try to downgrade again, it'll work fine? (Yes, before I read the comment telling me not to flash the bootloader, I did it and it was successfull. But now I don't know if it'd make it fail when I'll downgrade to I5800LVIJG7 :S)
It's not about upgrading or downgrading. When you flash, pratically all the memory on your phone gets erased, which means you can upgrade or downgrade at will with no problems.
The problem is, when you flash a bootloader, and say, for example, you have a power outage, or your computer decides to give more resources to your MSN or winamp you have running on the background (or whatever else), or even there is a problem with your cable connection or a spike in power, or whatever other mishap that can occur, the bootloader might not be able to transfer successfully. If that happens, you won't be able to boot your phone. If you flash everything except the bootloader and something happens, you will be able to at least go back into download mode and reflash the files needed.
Basically the bootloader tells your phone to start. If that gets corrupted, it simply won't. If you avoid flashing this and even if the transfer gets corrupted, you can always do the process again by going into download mode (which is installed along with the bootloader)
Great, thank you so much

Market dude......
These are the steps i took to get back to the Stock bell rom. I take no credit for this method, NFHimself made the scripts, and mods for deodexing.
This takes an hour at least.. Make sure your battery is FULLY charged, Do a backup first as well to save your sd card contents.. You have to do a factory reset after the process is complete.
1)reinstall a fresh sbf of the french 2.1.1 and login to motoblur. French sbf can be found in this thread, Close to the bottom of the page.
2) enable usb debugging.. menu, settings, applications, development, then check usb debugging
3) go to NFHimselfs deodex/mod thread here
4)download Version 9, and extract it to your computer
5)Run the menu.bat file
6) choose the root option. and follow the instructions. If it doesn't complete successfully, unroot and try again. Took me a couple times to get my phone rooted properly.
7) once root is complete, choose restore phone. This will automatically download the files needed to get you back to the stock rom. It will take a little bit of time to download, so have a drink or smoke or something.
The restore will take an hour or so to complete. Be patient.
I got to the point where it said waiting for phone to shutdown, so i pulled the battery and did it manually. Once my phone booted back up again, it was on the stock bell rom.
Thanks to all who helped me! Y2whisper and kieller from the support.motorola forums.
Don't forget to thank NFHimself.
NOTE: I had to do a factory reset to get the Market app back.
I managed to get the bell update with no problems!
right on I was wondering how I would get back to the stock Bell.....I'm running the French 2.1.1, so when the time comes I can sit back for an hour or so and bring the phone back to stock...........yaaaahoooo......
nate_benji were you on the french 2.1.1 before you did this?? cause I'm on 2.1.1 and I am rooted, just wondering if I have to do all over... flashing 2.1.1 again and root??? but I guess it can't hurt with a fresh install......guess I'm getting lazy in my old age...lol

Yes, i was on the french 2.1.1. The only reason i did a fresh install of the french 2.1.1 sbf is because the rooting method is a little different than using gingerbreak. I tried with a normal root, but it didn't work. NFHimself's mod/deodex application has the root option built in. That's what I used, and it worked well.

The benefit is you get the bell updates, who knows when the other carriers will release the gingerbread updates. Mind you bell is slow at releasing anything..

Thanks nate, then when the time comes that's exactly what I shall do......
The biggest benefit of this would probably be that when you do this it would be really hard to tell if you ever modded the phone. Also Bell is likely to get the Gingerbread update before people in Europe.
I am doing a restore and got a tar crc error and a error on restoring mmcblk0p3 - should i wait till it finish .....i don't like the the crc error..thanks 1 done cat /data/local... ! bus error shsu (no boot) failed to boot 2 ...starting rsd mode, reflashing now...anyone know why there is a crc fail..
Could it be possible to get a direct link to the French 2.2.1 sbf, this way everything needed is in one location?

I don't think so. i did it from a fresh flash of 2.1.1 and it worked fine. you just have to make sure you rooted using his scripts. that was a problem i was having using his app before i used these scripts.

I had that too i believe. Not sure why mmcblk03 failed, but all the rest passed for me. Did you re-sbf and try it again?

I updated the original post, with a link to another thread that has a list of all known atrix sbf's. The french one is close to the bottom of the list.
Is this the one you are referring to...
Branding: Retail France
Version: 2.1.1 Full
Android Version: 2.2.2
Bootloader Version: N/A
Webtop version: N/A
Requires RSD Lite 5.0.0
Requires Moto Android (De)packer 1.3 to edit.
As you opening post says french 2.2.1 and I cannot find that on the page you linked to.

Hi,
I removed partition 3 from the backup, it's your Motorola pds partition, it's not necessary to get back to stock, there are no sbf files that overwrite it. I also updated the atrix mods app to not reference partition 3.
Cheers!

Awesome! Thanks for creating the scripts, and the app. Made it possible to get me back to the stock bell rom, without a cwm backup. Now that reminds me, time to root, install cwm and do a backup!
Thanks again NFHimself..

I'm about to just flash my phone for the first time. can someone please help me with the following?
i have an i5801 and i want to keep it that way after flashing. so i just need to delete boot.bin and sbl.bin right?
does deleting these two files also ensure that i don't hard brick my phone?
can someone give me a link to download indroid 4.3? (that is the best version of indroid, right?)
what is the ops file? where can i download that from?
and what is this "package" that i need to download?
and last, how do i clear the cache?
btw, these are questions for the steps given in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=873645

Firstly flash Indroid 4.1 :
Link To Indroid 4.1 [Part 1]
Link To Indroid 4.1 [Part 2]
Once the download is complete, extract using WinRAR/7Zip. The 'package' is the .tar file you find inside. Flash it as 'One-Package' using Odin.
Here is the link to the OPS File :
OPS File
How to Wipe Cache :
After flashing 4.1, reboot into Recovery by pressing and holding Volume Up + Volume Down + Menu Button + Power Key. The phone will boot into CWM. Scroll down (using the volume keys) and select (using the menu key) the option that says : "Wipe Cache". Ignore error messages (if any). Click on Reboot System.
From what I see, Indroid 4.3 is an update.zip file. Which means, you need to have CWM already installed. After installing 4.1, download 4.3.
Download Link for Indroid 4.3
Now follow these instructions :

You should have Indroid 4.3 up and running in your device now
I know it sounds tedious. But believe me, it isn't that hard

REALLY appreciate it. *pushes thanks button*
oh ya, about the boot.bin and sbl.bin
do i delete them to retain my i5801 boot screen? or to make sure my phone doesn't get hard bricked? or both?
so if i delete them, there is NO WAY how i can ruin my phone?
sorry for being so cautious but it's my first time flashing, and i kind of lost my bill. so my phone is out of warranty. and if it does get hard bricked, that'll be bloody expensive.
thanks for the earlier post though.

Yes. If you delete boot.bin and sbl.bin, you will retain your I5801 bootscreen and you ll not get your phone hardbricked. You can manually delete them or stock firmwares without boot.bin and sbl.bin are available here in XDA. Check the development section.
k, thanks. last question : according to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=873645
in step 4, it says :
"4) Check protect ops checkbox (Don’t check this if you are flashing I5801 with I5800 firmware for the first time.)"
i'm using an i5801, and i want to flash InDroid. but is InDroid i5800 or i5801 firmware? so should i check the box or no?
answer this and i'll be able to FINALLY flash my phone.
like i said, sorry to be so cautious over even petty details but if something goes wrong, i'm screwed because i lost my bill so i'm pretty much out of warranty (also, because i rooted my phone, so the bill doesn't matter).

Its based on the updated firmware for India (DDJP4). Swype and Camera bugs fixed.
And yes, you can definitely flash it!
Okay, dude. sorry to bring up this post again but i had (yet another) internet-not-working-days. Anyway, i downloaded the two Indroid 4.1 parts and they're 001 and 002 files. WinRAR says it might be broken or damaged, or it doesn't recognise it. Also, I can't seem to download the 4.3 update. Is there any other site where it is hosted?
And I currently use DDJP2, but everywhere on the forum people use JPM or now DDJP4. I can flash Indroid, or any custom ROM no matter what stock firmware i'm using right? Or does that also matter?

No problemo.
Download HJSplit and use it to join the split archives (InDroid 4.1 CWM Clean.7z.001 and InDroid 4.1 CWM Clean.7z.002).
Or, try this Torrent Link. Might be slow, but its bound to work!
And yes, you can flash whichever ROM you wan't. Hell, I didn't even know which firmware I was on the first time I flashed a Custom ROM!
Incase you just can't download the InDroid package, move on to Kyrillos' ROM. Its equally good.
Good luck
Hi, guys.
I am experiencing some strange issue with my SGY. After experimenting with several ROMs with no issues, I went back to stock firmware. But, after some days of normal use, suddenly the phone got into a bootloop. Definitely it was a softbrick. I can enter recovery menu and use Odin with no problems.
I seen in CWM that I can't mount /data partition, mount command says 'invalid parameter' when trying to mount /data. Formatting does not work, since it is not true formating, only deleting. You can only delete the /data contents if you mount it, but it can't be mounted. I don't know why.
My happyness ends here. I flashed dozens of images, kernels and ROMs, but the issue is still happening. Last time, I flashed the Merruk kernel to get root and start debugging.
I can go into ADB, and I discovered wich /dev/stl11 really was not mounted in /data. I mounted it, then the phone played the starting sound (maybe I achieved one step forward ), but it does not vibrate and keep at bootloop.
Attached is the logcat file.
Can someone give a clue of how to debug this? The SGY has some type of fstab file? where is it?
try flashing stock rom via odin and also include this file in the pit section (unzip it first)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1489509
if you are in europe this firmwire is tested by me - its a wipe pack so should format everything
http://d-h.st/FhE
note all the above is for GT-S5360 only
Good news!

I am on Brazil (GT-S5360B), but at last resort I flashed your full ROM (including pit file)... then voila! It works!!!
Since your MODEM/CSC files are different, I can't tune some bands, but the wipe resolved the /data problem.
Now I will try to flash my local ROM again. None of my ROMs does wipe, so I am hopeful!!!
Thank you for this great step ahead :good:

all you need to do is just flash the csc of your region firmware and it should work however below is the full firmware of your phone model
this is the firmware you need for brazil 5360B (general firmware - your carrier might need a specific csc)
http://terafile.co/0669473d6102/S5360BUTME2_S5360BZTOMJ1_ZTO.zip
how ever it is not odin flashable
follow my guide below to split it into odin flashable parts like I did with the european firmware
