Every once inwhile my keyboard stops working and I cannot type in any box that to fill in text. I tried the Swype and the Samsung keyboard and both didn't work. The only way that I have been able to get it to work is by restarting the phone. Is there another way to fix this?

I was writing replies back this morning from the xda app and after I would send one it would freeze, force close, then disable my on screen keyboard. It was a global matter as well because everything i went into that had a text field would not let me use the keyboard. The only way to correct it immediately was to turn the screen to landscape and then back again.
Just curious if anyone else has had this happen.
I have had the same issue. No idea how to resolve.
I wonder if it's swype specific. We should test with some other keyboards.

It isn't because i'm using the stock Android keyboard and this happened. I am going to switch to swype and see if I can replicate the issue.
I had this problem a week or so ago. I found a thread on here about the issue. Uninstall and reinstall tapatalk/xda-app.

Okay, so i've had swype installed on my phone since i installed the latest stable cm7. Everything went fine. I rebooted my phone today and all of a sudden swype just stopped functioning. When i swype, a blue outline appears around the keyboard. I tried reinstalling the app from the installer and making a whole new account, but the blue outline remains or it says that the keyboard is configured for a different device. Any help will be appreciated, i can't live without my swype.

Go into the setting, then language and keyboard, then make sure swype is checked. Then change the input method to swype, and it should work. On the latest CM7 nightly and no problems.
Yea, i did that. I've been using the keyboard for quite some time. It just won't work anymore. When i try to swype, a blue outline around the keyboard appears and nothing is outputed

Okay for future reference for others. I fixed it. After you install and it generates the license, click back, then enable manually. It works perfectly after that.

Every time something on my phone crashes, when connected to pc, sd card unmounted, etc... My custom keyboard stops being the default keyboard and it's always replaced by androids stock keyboard. Is there any way to fix this. Force my custom keyboard to be the really default one?

I think its a fail safe, back Latinime keyboard in system app and delete it after.

I have had my Gs4 for 5 months and a very annoying issue has recently arose.
Normally, while typing using the default Samsung keyboard it would remember commonly used words such as my email address or company name. Mysteriously this feature has disappeared. I checked under settings and both predictive text and personalized data are enabled. I haven't changed any keyboard settings and just forgot all my words and doesn't seem to be able to relearn them.
I was so frustrated that I went back to swiftkey. It learns my words perfectly but I have been really spoiled with the dedicated numbers row on the Samsung keyboard. I just wish it would work properly. Please help! Thanks.

Yeah it's the Samsung keyboard. I like SwiftKey but they refuse to add the dedicated numbers up top. Samsung needs to issue an update asap!

I'Ve had this issue too. And what I did was I went to the predictive text input menu and i went to the bottom of the menu and deleted all data.
Then it worked again
When using the S-Pen input option on the stock samsung keyboard, nothing works. I can write in the input box but it never turns into any words. After 30 seconds the keyboard crashes. Anyone else having this issue?
Happened to me as well. I wanted to use the pen to write something.... It wrote it, never filled in the text box, then crashed

Same thing is happening to me. I tried to respond in a text with handwriting and it doesn't work at all.

There is an update for this in the play store, i knew about it, but forgot until it showed up as an update, about 6 hrs after i setup my phone.
you can look for (samsung keyboard note 3/10.1) make sure you reboot after the update....
