So I have had a DHD for several months, but sadly I tried my phone today;
It appears that the WIFI has stopped working, and the sound rocker is not working.
I wonder if it's because it's been dropped? It's the only thing that's happened in the past day!
So:
a) Is the "wifi gadget" and also the sound rocker close together - and therefore is it possible that some chip has come loose off the motherboard?
b) What can I do to fix it? I've tried using clockwork rom to reinstall the rom but it's not cleared the problem.
c) I fear it's broken - everything else is working fine - and that I need to speak to insurance tomorrow to get things fixed.
Any thoughts pleased?
My volume up button, WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G hotspot stopped working a while back, without dropping the phone and I've read numerous threads about the same issues experienced by other users, so it's gotta be a weakness in the phone. I got mine fixed under warranty for free, so if it doesn't have any marks after the drop and still under warranty, just claim that it stopped working by itself...
Thank you! That's been resolved beautifully. I'm with vodafone Business, rang them up just, no questions asked. It'll be exchanged for a new phone tomorrow. Just got to go and put the old fashioned original ROM on now. I think I'll certainly feel a huge difference
No worries, glad you're getting it sorted Even after being repaired, my volume up seems to be struggling every now and then still, and numerous reports of the rocker simply coming off of the phone, so yeah, definitely a design/build flaw in that corner of the phone

Hi everyone,
I have a problem with my XDA Exec, basically, the internal phone speaker doesn't seem to work. External one is fine (the one on the outside of the case) but the one next to the screen does nothing.
It did work when I first bought it. I have since upgraded to the latest o2 rom. However I cannot remember if it stopped working exactly then or later!! Daft I know!
So I just wanted to ask if anyone else had this problem after upgrading the rom (I am using 1.30.107 WWE, radio version 1.09.00), and if so, is there a way to fix it? If there is no one else with this then I guess it is a hardware fault and will return it for repair, but wanted to check.
Cheers
Rick
Anyone? I don't mind if the answer is just "Mine works fine", I just want to know if anyone else has experienced this with the same rom version as mine, before I condemn it and return it to the shop.
I have the same o2 rom as you mentioned, and have encountered no problems. Im sure its a hardware problem, caused by dropping the phone etc, rather than a software one.
o2 offer a free replacement within 1 month if you got it directly from them, or I suppose you could get it repaired from somewhere. Im not sure if the speaker is covered under warranty, but might be worth a shot!
Thanks. I have had it about 4 months now I think, I would bloody hope the speaker is covered by the warranty though, phone ain't much use without it
By the way, are you sure the incall volume is turned up!!! Just making sure!
If it is, why not try a hard reset just to see if it helps!
Just gone through the same problem.
First of all try to put the jack of the headset inside the hole and twistle it.
If it doesn't solve the problem, I'm afraid you need a replacement.
I had the same problem a week ago. Every speaker worked, except the one next to the display. The problem appeared somehow over night ... I definitely didn't drop the phone or did something "rude" with it.
Unfortunately, I don't have the original headset to exercise this plugin/plugout/twisteling method as mentioned by lautunno, so I tried this with a regular headphone. Without direct success
A hard reset didn't change anything.
... but after a few days of trying almost everything, the speaker started to work again and still works without any interruptions :?
I'm not sure if it's really hardware related because there are so many people with the same problem and almost everyone of them has fixed the problem by just powercycling the phone many times, plugging the headset in and out, fiddling around with the phone app, etc.
As far as I know, the radio firmware is responsible for addressing this speaker (because it's only useable as a phone speaker) and this part of the device firmware doesn't get resetted when you do a hard reset. Maybe it stores some settings (like headphone mode?) in an EEPROM or something like this.
Anyway, good luck and keep trying.
.ox
ps.: I'm also using the O2 firmware (1.30.96 GER) but I've upgraded the radio stack to version 1.11.00.
Ok not sure for those who remembered, but I came here a few months ago because my 8125 began constantly dropping service for no specific reasons. Tried different roms, radio roms, several software solutions mentioned and all have failed in resolving my issue...
Anyway now I have more problems with my htc 8125, as of this week the touch screen no longer works (it is NOT cracked or anything, you can see items on the screen as if everything were working) when I say broken, I mean that I cannot touch anything on the screen to have it picked up by the phone. When this started the problem was very isolated (sometimes if i had the screen part half way down the sliding rails, the phone would pick up touches on the screen). However it has gotten worse and can no longer pick up any touches at all.
My other problem it the stoarage card. This phone can no longer pick up any storage card...ANY! I've used the same card for a while for songs, pictures, etc; and it all of a sudden stopped showing up within the phone. tried everything, but no storage card seems to be working
The last leg of this phone is the wifi on it...once that goes im throwing this piece of sh*t in the trash.... the 8125 has to be the absolute worst phone ive ever had, reliability wise.
Not too seem like a jackass here....but if ya hate the damn phone, why bother posting asking for help? BUT before I digress, sounds like the Digitizer on top of your touchscreen has gone bad...fairly simple to change, and you can git them off of eBay.
hehe..yes I can't stand the phone, but I also cannot afford to upgrade phones untill my upgrade which is in November lol...so untill then im stuck with this..
hmmm digitizer.... sounds like it can be fixed then!!
any ideas about the storage card?
thanks again for the help
I was using my phone today and all was working ok, till about 2:30 when I wanted to place a call, and nothing was working anymore.
Apart from the Circle wheel that works , the Call, End, Both Soft Keys, Ok,Windows, Comm Manager Buttons do not work. All of them just stopped working at once. ALL OF THEM.
I thought maybe it was too hot, I turned off the phone for 20 mins and still no go. I have never dropped my phone, not in water, nothing. Have had it for like 3 months now. Could this be software related? Please my phone is basically useless now, as I use the physical keyboards more than I do the touch screen.
Please Help me out
Desperate here please
please people I desperate here. Anyone ever experienced this? I have read most forums and there seems to be no option but to return the phone and get a new one, but I hav no insurance. I called HTC but they were closed. Please any input. I am lost here
htc wont repair or replace your phone. youll need to call ut starcomm and they will repair it for free. if you get mad enough you can even get them to send it back in a couple days. other than that i dont think their is anything that can be done about it. ive never heard of this happening before

Actually it seems to be a common problem with the Mogul, here is a thread that talks only about it
http://www.htcwiki.com/thread/1179470/Mogul+buttons+stopped+working??t=anon
I was shocked myself that problems like this is out there and am not aware. I would have opted for another brand of phone, maybe Touch. Guess I am one of the unlucky ones. Hope everyone learns from me, coz there seems to be no solution ( yet) . Not even HTC.
Well...
This isn't a hardware problem...
It's definitely software... Somewhere...
Hard resets work (requiring pressing and holding of 2 soft buttons) and bootloader mode works (pressing and holding the camera button...)
While the OS is up (flashed a few roms), none of the buttons (other than power, scroll wheel, and D-pad) work at all.
So... hardware wise, the buttons work.
Anyone want to look further into this?
I just got my mogul off Ebay - it was stuck in bootloader mode...
Ran "ExitBL" and no go on the buttons...
What all does ExitBL do?
Anyone else having button problems run this in the past?
Have you tried flashing stock oem carrier rom to the phone to fill in missing registries?
send it back to the seller and get your money back.
Is anyone else's volume UP button strangely stopped working. Had the phone less than 24 hours and already it doesn't work. it still clicks in but nothing. Volume down works fine.
Also gutted to send it back I have to wait for it to come back in stock to recieve a replacement unit.

Maybe there is a production fault?
It would be every untypical for HTC to launch a device of which the first builts do not have hardware issues.
Was the same with my TP.
Hardware keyboard, black paint coming off the housing, plastic cover coming off the hardware keys below the screen, ... .
Had to send it in for replacement three times, before I got finally one of the more mature builts, which had (and still has) no problems.
As I want to get the HD2 latest for Christmas, I guess I will still get one of the early builts, and have to go through the return procedure at least once or twice.
Is quite bad that this happens. Products shouldn't have to go through several return procedures because of faults.
They should just get it right first time. How many times do they produce prototypes and test models. It's quite annoying how these things crop up. Can't be hard to catch when manufacturing the phones.
Ok, I really don't have any clue about the differences between sim free and sold by a network, but could this have something to do with why it took/is taking so long for the networks to launch the phone ?
As I understand, they also do their own tests ?
Yeah basically networks like to do tonnes of software tests on the devices to make sure that everything is working properly before they release the phone themselves. Makes sense to do it that way instead of blind releasing a phone, not knowing how long they need to test it for however, is baffling. I don't know how they can't put a date on when it'll be done.

Networks will also bastardise the ROM/firmware to include there own logos, apps, shortcuts etc - they will even remove certain features.
Orange are a nightmare for that...and firmware releases are few and far between...

So, does that mean less chance of ending up with a faulty phone ( I know that they probably only try a few phones in each batch) ?

Well, I guess I'll find out tomorrow.
Yep mine had exactly the same problem. I sent it back and should hopefully have a new one on Monday.
Broken Up button Volume
Has anyone resolved the broken up button issue? I'm hoping that it can be fixed without having to exchange it because I bought mine overseas.
I sent mine back and they are replacing it. I probably could've fixed it myself but when you pay £500 for a new phone you expect it to be working properly.
hi,
today the same happend to me, after one week of use the up button died, for absolutly no reason. i used the buton mayby 10 times thats it.
I bought my HD2 a couple of weeks ago from my local shop and noticed straight away that the photos all had a big pink spot in the middle. The manager said he'd replace it as soon as he had stock back in (been very good).
I got a phone call this week to say replacement HD2 was waiting for me so I collected it yesterday and this one's camera works - yay... except it's volume up button doesn't work
So, time to replace it again whenever the next stock is in and I'm betting the 3rd phone will have a dodgy camera again, lol
Now I've read about a problem of the hd2 having digitizer problems and that only a replacement will fix the unresponsive touchscreen issue. But why is it that when I can get my touchscreen to work that it works flawlessly until it goes to sleep? Then i have to continually wake and swype and sleep over and over until it responds. It just seems very weird that after it wakes that it never seems to have a problem. I'm using the miui rom right now and have set the screen to never go to sleep. So I want to see how long it will go without this problem. Has anyone else seen this happening with their phone as well?
Make sure the kernel, and Rom are up to date.
I have that too on an AOSP Gingerbread rom. The screen is not unresposive per se but calibration seems off some times, strage for a capacitive screen.
ive had the problem with android before and there were a few different fixes ...
one fix was to turn off compatibility mode
another was kernel
ive also had the problem with wp7 ( nothing a few hard resets and patience couldnt cure )
either way good luck
well since my first post, i hadn't let the phone go to sleep once and it worked perfectly fine. so i decided to turn off compatibility mode and let it go to sleep.... and when i woke it and i slid my fingers down it actually worked. so far it's worked every time. why would compatibility mode mess up the touchscreen though?
i have NO earthly idea! just a little tidbit i picked from a dev. i would speculate but would end up looking and sounding foolish. so im going to quit while im ahead and have actually been of help :-D cheers
Where can i disable compatibility mode?
I get the same problem. I've used a ICS rom for a day or so and suddenly the lockscreen was unresponsive. I thought it was ROM problem, so I flashed Cyanogen 7, but the screen didn't respond as well... I flashed everything to stock (removing magldr and hspl) and the problem stayed... After several restarts the screen started to respond and now it works (sort of). The tricky thing is: sometimes when I go out from some app in android, the screen doesn't respond again. Locking and unlocking the screen fixes this, but only temporarily.
Did this ICS rom screw something (...hardware?!) or is it a pure coincidence that a few people encounters the same problem for the first time in such a short period of time...
And one more thing... my warranty expired 5 days ago... please help!!!
I had this same problem with my phone before my warranty expired; before I flashed any android roms on it, and while it still had stock WM6.5. I called HTC customer support and they had me send in the phone for repair. They replaced the digitizer and I haven't had the same problem since. It was wierd because in my mind is seemed like a software problem because it would respond nicely as long as the screen was unlocked and the instant it was locked the response was very crappy, sometimes it took forever to unlock my phone. So it might somehow be a hardware issue

spare parts!
I repair phone myself and i can say that i get A LOT of hd2's with this problem. For the most part it is the hardware because no matter what software you put on the phone it is just a matter of the luck you have to get it working. My hd2 broke 2 times b4 and it was always hardware. Htc must of messed up with the hd2 digitizer

from what ive seen in photos of the leo mobo it looks like the connection for the screen/digitizer (not sure on hardware) is located right behind red end call/power button and from being mashed off,on,off,on,etc loosens/damages connection.
or is the hardware screen issue just a complete shot in the darks chance?
OH ... ive had the software issue (fixed as i mentioned earlier) AND unrepairable (with my limited tools and balls to physically tear into this badboy) hardware issues.
well, it's been a few days and my phone still seems to be fine. it hasn't once locked up on me yet. i don't know why turning compatibility mode would fix this. or maybe the phones connectors were loose and are now miraculously back in at the same time i unchecked compaibility mode. the only bad thing was that this was happening the last couple weeks and i had given up and already ordered a sensation 4g. or well, guess i have 2 phones now
Its seems possible. Every since I replaced my digitizer with a non OEM one its has never failed on me again. And I hope it never does. There dam expensive.

Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Compatibility Mode
I also have this issue, therefore I just recently flashed my hd2 with Tytung's 4.0 ICS Rom. As expected, this didn't help very much.. What I am now going to try before I send my phone to HTC is to disable compatiblity mode. BUT, I can't seem to find this compatibility mode check anywhere. Could someone please guide me there?
..
Windows 7
I will be flashing my phone with w7 now, to see wether this is an android kernel bug / softare issue or if this relates to hardware. I also see a lot of people saying that after fixing the digitizer it works again, so it might actually be a hardware issue. I will post my feedback when I have tried with w7.
