Hello
I am following the guide to install the 7720 rom by means of updating via zune.
I flash V2 and perform all of the steps, then i went to upgrrade from 7000 to 7280 via zune, it gets half way through and then windows says 'USB device has malfunctioned' and the phone freezes, now when ever i boot into my phone it freezes.
Any way of trying again without having to re-flash the rom using magldr?
On magldr menu there is an option to hard reset, or should i reset using the vol buttons on startup?
Thanks
Just answered my own question.
Tried another USB cable and rom flash was 20x faster!! must have been a dodgy cable.... crappy ebay quality for you!
Okay, no i havent fixed the problem.
During the process of installing the update, it restarts the phone, then it restarts the phone again, except the second restart round, the phone locks up just afteer loading the wp7 rom, any ideas? its stuck on stage 8, restarting the phone.
Okay it seems to be going ok now, it was because i didnt do the Clear MBR SD thing and the 24MB thing, but i wont speak too soon like i did last time!
Hello,
I have the same problem, after the first zune update, the phone locks and I can't do anything... I did the 24MB thing and Clear MBR SD, I tried to use different SD Cards ( 2gigs and ADATA 16Gos Class 6) same problem...
Please Help!
I used both of these SD Cards on WP7, is it the reason why WM 6.5 does not detect both of these SD Cards (so I can't format them?)?
Tried to get an "old" version (NODO) working but I guess I will have another SD Card to buy... =/
The SD cards are locked and you need format them with an old Nokia. Magdlr, new Nokia's, Windows Mobile 6.5 or Windows Phone 7 won't work.
I have the same problem. Get a touch screen freeze when I'm updating thru Zune. Only way to recover my mobile is to remove my SD card. Then it boots and is working again.
Did u tried the whole process from
-flashing a stock WM6.5 rom,
-then install radio,
-install Magldr (24Nand trick, Clear MBR)
-install WP7 ??

Actually WM6.5 wont recognize your SD card, but WP7 will able to reformate & install.
Meanwhile if you want to use this SD card on Android or WM6.5, you won't be able to.
Unless u've a Nokia

I followed the original post of Yuxi and got stuck while I was updating to 7008. When I went to flash back to pre 7008 (dunno which version that is), I get an error (something about a usb-file that can't be found).
Now I'm flashing back to Windows Mobile 6.5 cause thats the only option that seems to work. Changed the radio also a couple of times but that didnt made a difference
Apparently for some HD2 users, the software "sdformatter" worked to get the SD Card working back, it didn't worked for me unfortunately.
Just tried with a brand new SD Card (Lexar 16Go), still freezes while zune updates and try to restart the device :-/.
I perfectly followed the different step, installing HSPL, WP 6.5, formatting SD Card, Radio, MAGLDR, Native Windows Phone 7, and then trying to update with Zune.
EDIT : I finally passed this step : I installed the v2 Yuki WP7 without SD Card, and updated with zune still without SD Cards. I finally reached the Nodo update (it took about 20 minutes) still without any SD Card. After that I inserted the SD Card and reinitialized the phone through "about phone". No problem so far. I'm going to try to install Mango.

Hi there, I know Im going to get shot down in flames (and probably rightly so), but I cant find a definative step by step guide on this site for returning to Windows Mobile 6.5 from Windows Phone 7. I have tried a load of search queries and for some reason I cant get anything that takes it through step by step and offers any links for any downloads I might need. I must be just typing the wrong things or looking in the wrong place.
When I installed Windows 7 I found great step by step guides that worked well but I can find what I need this time.
I know I am obviously being an idiot but could someone please reply with a link to a step by step idiot proof guide to getting my phone back to WM6.5 from WP7. Thanks chaps.
Im selling the phone which is why I want to revert it back so its as an HD2 would normally be.
Power off phone. Power on with holding power and vol down until you get to the tri color screen. Flash your WM 6.5 ROM of choice. Any custom or compatible stock will do the job.
What he said, get to the "rainbow screen" bu holding down volume and power and attempt to flash your desired ROM from your PC.

Ok, but where do I find a stock ROM?
Search the forum you will find the link...
Turn the phone off. Turn the phone on and keep holding volume down and power button untill you get to rainbow screen. Now run the rom software on your pc and follow the prompts. Download the factory roms from htc.com (they want your serial number-its under the battery so is the IMEI, t-mobile (they want your IMEI number), if outside USA get rom from provider site or search the forums here for custom roms.
To clear up something. It is NOT nessesary to flash a stock ROM. Amy custom ROM will also do the job. Tried personally by me a month ago when my battery died a painfull death
Is it the same way if you want to go back to Android? Or do you need to flash winmo 6.5 first?
Hard Reset doesn't work even.
While reverting to WM 6.5 the ROM update happened but after 100% complete the device shut down and now its not starting, even tryied to hard reset.
What should i do now?
I flashed my phone to W7, did not like it and went back to WM6.5. I was running Android from SD card prior to W7, now back to WM6.5 and cannot run Android from SD card anymore, I believe it is a HSPL problem, I like the ROM I am running now, just want to be able to use Android from SD card, your thoughts? thanks in advance!

You have to reformat your SD card. WP7 formats your SD card with RAID format and you have to get it off your SD card. You xancdoca search to find formatting software that can remove the RAID format or buy a cheap micro SD to mini SD card adaptor. Putcyour SD card in the adaptor and then the adaptor in a digital camera and format it with the camera. Then format it with the Windows or some other format software with Fat 32. This will fix your problem.
I have big problem. Yesterday I bought the 32 gb sandisc microsd card(class 4) and I installed windows phone 7(blackSideSeven v1.13.7401), everything was fine, except marketplace(doesn't work). Today I have decided to install diffrent ROM, I choosed Back to the Future [XBmod-Yuki] [7720 ready]. Rom was installed properly. I added my windows live and gmail accounts, changed data and time, I restarted phone. After that phone didn't work. System was loading, it stopped on "enter pin code" screen. It didn't respond to touch ;/ When i removed sd card touch screen was working, but i got alert "storage card not working" and I coudn't do anything(only emergency call). I installed clean wp7 DFT rom, but I had that same problem. I try to plug scdard to the computer, but it's not detectable ;/ None of the partition, nothing! Is card broken?
- To check the hardware side, take "h2testw". The card should be empty, so the tool could test the complete size.
The background is, that some large cards (16gb, 32gb,...) are fakes. simply wrong labeled.
- Have you take the right order. look: "-Flash the rom with DWI & Set a correct time & date".
dn
I tried to install this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1236027
It works until the reset after zune installed wp7 software update. I had screen when I have to enter a pin, but i couldn't do that. The touch screen didn't work. Even tried WP7 Update Cab Sender to upload DEV_STORAGELOCK_REMOVE.CAB, but it alse didn't work. System couldn't load. When I unplug the usb cable, phone didn't turn on.
My microsd works, but i have to format it(in nokia) evety time when i want to install rom.
Again, i try to install android, but i have that same problem. HD2 doesn't work without usb connection, I can't turn it on ;/ What i should do..?

Turn phone off. Hold down the volume down key and power at same time until you see a tri colored screen. Connect your usb cable and you will see "usb" in the white section at bottom of your phone screen. Run task29 (search forum) this will erase nand. From there you boot back into the bootloader (tri colored Screen) and you can install WM6.5 or just flash magldr and go with a android rom. Or try WP7 again if you really want to.
For several days I get tired of uploading windows 7 on your phone hd2. The first time everything went smoothly, but broken marketplace forced me to install another rom ... and after that began to complications. Reinstalling WP7 ran smoothly, unfortunately after the restart, the phone hung up on the screen where you had to enter the PIN code, the screen does not respond to touch. After reset, the message began to appear that the memory card does not work and could not turn on the system. Again I tried to upload the new rom, but unfortunately it did not help ... Later I was able to upload back android nand and somehow everything worked. Today I made another attempt to install WP7, unfortunately, only worsened his situation, which is as follows:
The phone will not even turn on, just as I plug it into usb. MAGLDR loads seamlessly, this 4-color screen as well. Unfortunately, the system loads until the htc logo appears and some animation, after that the phone automatically resets and so on.
Check and make sure you do not have a bent battery pin as a bent battery pin has been known to cause the HD2 to boot loop like you are describing.
If you do not have a bent battery pin, then I suggest you run a Task 29 and then re install MAGLDR then reflash your WP7 ROM. Also it might help if you do a total reformat of your SD card then try to boot your device with a freshly formated SD card. I know I know WP7 formats your card anyway on first boot but hey it could help. If you still have troubles after that I suggest you get a new SD card and try that. You see if your SD card does not work WP7 will not boot cause it uses the SD card as the internal memory for the device.
I don't know how, but now everything is working! I didn't do enything! Just plug usb cable, and system was loaded! I disconnect cable and it still working?!

No I mean have you tried powering it on and off since it has started working again?
Yes, now i can restart the phone, and everything works properly. I don't know how it is possible..? For now I stay with android, I will wait for better version of wp7 rom for hd2.
Hi All,
My HD2 running wp7 suddenly stopped booting, and keep rebooting after hanging on wp7 logo, my proble is that I need the data on SD card "Kingmax 16GB" and nothing able to recognize it, there was some ideas about formating the SD card on Nokia N8 and the card will work again, but still my problem isn't solved as I'll mis the Data, any idea how can I get my Databack from the SD card before formating
Regards
which mgldr do you use? since v1.13 it should detect a plugged in power supply and reboot + start to charge.... then you should leyave it for a while. if your battery is as dead as this won't work too, the only thing i could suggest you is to sayrch a friend with a hd2 still on windows mobile (6.xx) to charge your battery
(on wp7.xx battery won't charge without booted os, that's the trick)
well actually I got a separate battery charger and I charged it fully but it won't boot it stuck on window phone logo and not going further I tried removing the SD card it gave me an error of missed SD card and require format my SD card is 16gb Kingmax my mgldr is 1.13
BTW i put the SD card on Nokia N8, it saw the SD card and requested a password any Idea how to crack that password?
Hi Guys,
my HD2 restarts again and again after the WP7 boot logo appears for 10 or 15 seconds. I've installted the XBmod-Yuki rom (WP7 8107 with SP1) last January and ever since my phone was working perfectly until yesterday. I had to shut it down in the lunchtime and as I wanted to boot in the evening it began to restart every time after the boot logo.
The battery is fine and and can be fully loaded after removing the SD-card. I've searched for the problem already, but couldn't find a similiar problem. In most problem descriptions the battery seems to be too low to boot, but my one is OK. Have anybody an idea to fix the problem?
kind of the same problem
my hd2 restart like every 10 minutes again and again i haven't found nothing to do , therefore i gonna reinstall

have you tried to boot without the microSD card ? if it boots it will say missing card or smth like that. than turn phone off and try again with the card on.

you either have the new DFT ROM with touch screen driver problem or you have microSD card problems (card not compatible with WP7)
Sounds like you are suffering from some bad sectors... :-( You could try to reinstall using different SD-card and see if the problem persists. If not then the old SD-card was the troublemaker If not then you have bad sectors onboard which is a bit of trouble!
Of course there are other explanations but bad sectors is common on the HD2 or at least starting to become that :-(

well it seems you need a compatible sd card because not all of them are compatible with wp7 and give you random reboots, it is a known problem. read a little bit here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=912904&highlight=compatible+sd
