HTC incredible boost mobile - Droid Incredible General

Hi, my dinc is flashed to boost mobile, it isn't rooted, and I'm planning to soon, but for now I want to try the ota since I don't have to be rooted to try it, if I download the ota leak link, will it ruin the boost mobile flash? I'm not sure what would cause it to ruin, changes to the radio? or etc, thanks

If you installed the most recent update without using Voodoo RootKeeper to back up your root, you're up the creek without a paddle because the newest update breaks root and changes the bootloader so you can't SBF.
Tappin' and talkin' with Tapatalk.
Thanks. That explains it!

Do I lose root when updating to ICS stock through Verizon?

Will I still be able to install ROM Manager and flash a different ROM later on? I believe I'd be going from 2.3.4 to 4.0, all stock. I'm on an HTC Thunderbolt.
You'll definately lose root, when you update to a stock rom...
Check out your phone's dev area, and see if there are ways to get rom manager support on Ics for your phone...
There is an app called Root Keeper. It might work.

If you flashed a different version there is always a chance wen taking an ota that you may break root or brick your device.
I'm not rooted by the way. But know you suggest me to back to the stock rom

Stock. Don't take OTA. It bases off IMEI. Block it actually.

Can carriers tell if i've rooted?

I'm tempted to finally root and install a custom ROM. I'm on the T-Mobile JUMP program so I can upgrade 2 times a year, so I WILL be upgrading. I don't want to impact my chances of upgrading so I just want to make sure they can't tell or not?
They can tell if you send it to them before restoring stock rom if you restore stock rom using the sticky guide in the general forum you are good to go

T-Mobile has a built in app that diagnoses problems on your phone and it can tell if its rooted, does not make any difference though

Is it Safe to Upgrade to Lollipop?

My wife and friend took the Lollipop update on their Non Rooted Verizon S5 when it first dropped and had all kinds of issues. So I Odin ed back to NK2 on both phones. Is it safe to Upgrade? Have the problems been fixed?

I was on the latest stock OTA that came out this month and I had no end of problems (which, btw, persisted after a full factory reset). Downgraded again last weekend to 4.4.4...
It's nice having a cool phone again, one that doesn't freeze or stutter or close apps constantly. Oh and my battery life is great again. I understand some aren't having these problems, but I know I sure did.
Well I rooted my wife's phone she hasn't let me do that since her Droid Incredible days. Just looking for a stock Rom stable and good battery life.

Now that I rooted my wife's phone. How do I disable the OTA?
My friend phone is not rooted so is it safe to take the OTA?

Disable SDM and that should stop the nagging for OTA.
