My wife and friend took the Lollipop update on their Non Rooted Verizon S5 when it first dropped and had all kinds of issues. So I Odin ed back to NK2 on both phones. Is it safe to Upgrade? Have the problems been fixed?

I was on the latest stock OTA that came out this month and I had no end of problems (which, btw, persisted after a full factory reset). Downgraded again last weekend to 4.4.4...
It's nice having a cool phone again, one that doesn't freeze or stutter or close apps constantly. Oh and my battery life is great again. I understand some aren't having these problems, but I know I sure did.
Well I rooted my wife's phone she hasn't let me do that since her Droid Incredible days. Just looking for a stock Rom stable and good battery life.

Now that I rooted my wife's phone. How do I disable the OTA?
My friend phone is not rooted so is it safe to take the OTA?

Disable SDM and that should stop the nagging for OTA.

Good day guys, My g2 comes with firmware version D80210C-AME and i installed D80210E-EUR now should i receive OTA normally over the EUR version or i lost the OTA and i should back to the AME stock version. Thanks

If you flashed a different version there is always a chance wen taking an ota that you may break root or brick your device.
I'm not rooted by the way. But know you suggest me to back to the stock rom

Stock. Don't take OTA. It bases off IMEI. Block it actually.

yes i recieved that email too.
I'm not signing up for it.. I'll wait

I got mine too. I'll be going stock as soon as my battery charges up
Anyone know if there's any risk taking the soak with unlocked BL's?
Shouldn't be but if it did lock the boot loader you should be able to unlock using the same code. I don't think they would bother worrying about a few unlocked phones.

There will be no problem taking the soak with an unlocked bootloader. I was unlocked prior to taking last soak a couple months ago.
I can neither confirm nor deny that I got an email for a soak test
Well.

House of moto is what I would use if you want to keep your data.
Got the email but I'm going to ignore it and see how things go for other users, dont want to be the guinea pig to find out whether it re-enables write protection and breaks root.. Using my N4 right now anyway

If the backup is stock just flash the recovery image from the fxz.

Is it 4.4.4 or in the emal there are not any information about android version of SOAK? Maybe a new SOAK have android version 4.4.0 as a previous version 19.6.3.

Not sure what you are looking to gain from updating. I've been told adding mods as you like to mock update, as oppose to taking the update and losing root because of the patched exploit is the better way to go.

Nope, locked bootloader prevents changing the kernel, so once you upgrade that's it.
To the OP: 4.4.4 for the Verizon S5 isn't even out yet.

I saw a question just like this about a month ago and one the replies was something like this... " if you people out there want the new stuff just to be running NEW, you shouldn't even be rooted because you don't really understand the value of it. You don't even appreciate it." You should be happy, as it is, with the fact that that there are at least 5 Custom Rom's out there AND all you had to do was sideload an apk. Updates are not necessarily stable OR really add anything...usually just a patch for those that are too eager for "New", so you can't be rooted.
Why do you think there are OTA blockers on these Rom's? For a reason. It's just too easy now. You didn't even have to plug your phone into your PC and execute a console exe like for the S2. Some of us actually had to wait patiently for like a month just hoping for a developer to find an exploit! :SMH:

Is there a way to root a verizon note 3 running nj6 firmware right now? If not how do I downgrade back to 4.4.2? I just accidentally upgraded to 4.4.4 and now I don't know if I can root it or not. Is there also a way to get safestrap on 4.4.4 right now?

I'm sorry. You are stuck with 4.4.4. At this point, there is no way to go back.
Sent from my SM-T700 using XDA Free mobile app
No there is no way to root it yet. Just hold on to it for a few more days. Once a rooted ROM comes out, it will open the gates.
Ok thanks for the info
I'm wondering how fast this will happen since developer Hashcode is no longer actively involved in rooting
Sent from my SM-N900V using XDA Free mobile app
I'm also wondering how long it will take for there to be a rooting method for 4.4.4
Patience is needed but I expect months of waiting.
That sucks

All I want is https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.lumen&hl=en(Cf.lumen) Not sure if that's formatted right, but yeah, I just want a 2700k screen without losing a ton of contrast. It would be MUCH nicer on the eyes.
Does it work?

Nooo don't say that, somewhere was to be a hero dev, who loves the Note 3 4.4.4 .
?????
It's so sad to known I voluntarily upgrade to NJ6.
(sobs)
I guess I too don't keep my hopes up for getting a root for android 4.4.4 cause I agree all the devs are focusing on android l aka android 5.0

Keeping hope alive.
Mean while I prefer to use my Samsung GT-N7000 (NOTE 1) rooted than the rock with nice pouch called SM-N900V (NOTE 3)
I might just call Verizon & claim my phone is broken so I can get a replacement & see if the replacement phones come with 4.4.2
Sent from my SM-N900V using XDA Free mobile app
I'm still on 4.4.2 and was wondering if I should go up?
I had it rooted initially to remove bloatware and block the OTA but had to unroot to test apps at work.
I would like to keep the ability to root available. Is it worth upgrading? I think I recall hearing battery life was worse but don't know if that has been cleared up by now.
Also I remember checking VZ site a while back for an installer and it didnt seem they had one. Is it only available through OTA? I would have to remember how to reenable that. Or would I need to do something with Odin? I haven't used that since my Galaxy S 4G.
I was hesitant, but then did it using a stock rooted rom.
Currently on 5.0 rooted using xposed and am very happy for the past 3 months.
